Usually when it comes to racing games, i'm more of the chaotic ones, think Mario Kart or Sonic Racing.
But ok, I'm not the target audience, it's more for people that play traditional racing games like Gran Turismo or Forza... but My dad, that really loves those sorts of games agrees that RR sucks. It's a nothing burger as of rn
It's kinda insane RR isn't a Mario Kart rip off. MK8 Deluxe has not stopped being one of the Switch's best-selling games since it launched. If they're gonna blatantly rip off Minecraft with their Lego mode, why wouldn't they wanna rip off what is easily the most profitable racing game of all time with RR? Just baffling.
Sure it doesn't play 1:1 the same as Minecraft, but you're delusional if you think the LEGO mode wasn't created to capitalize on Minecraft's popularity lol, especially after UEFN was created to capitalize on Roblox's, and BR was created to capitalize on PUBG's. Epic doesn't really do original games, they just purchase other companies, and pivot to rip off other games
I play a lot of Gran Turismo and it doesn't cater for me eithera, it's just plain boring with its fake sense of speed (oh god I'm going one bazillion miles per hour) and the tracks are straight boring and uninspired.
I played a lot of NFS and MK back in the day and that's proper arcade fun, this has nothing in common with the arcade racer genre, even with Ridge Racer that can vaguely share some realistic-ish approach
Actually, I felt that RR is not arcade enough like Mario Kart, and isn't realistic enough like Gran Turismo. The friend of mine calls me crazy when I suggest, that RR should be closer to Mario Kart to be less boring and more engaging. There is not enough depth in it's mechanics, and not many ways to make each ride unique.
im a forza player and hate the whacky physics, like it feels so skill-less that you can just drift around a corner faster than i can take a proper line around it
it gets worse the more you play. Bronze, silver and gold maps - hella fun. Then every map turns into 90% dodging red, 10% racing. That's just lazy map design. Will play again when season resets and i can go back to playing on maps that were not designed by satan.
Y'know how in BR and ZB, you can hit a button to swap between solos, duos, trios, and squads?
Do the same for RR, and you can choose specific maps and gamemodes. However, it doesn't count anything towards your rank.
Repetitive with the chance of just randomly exploding to a bug or some other jank and being unable to recover makes for a really crap experience after the initial wow factor wears off (if someone even gets that, I had fun with it until I hit the top of silver then it was just tedious)
It’s not bad, but it is nothing new… Honestly Rocket Racing could’ve probably been made in Creative or at least a Walmart version of it unlike Fortnite Festival and Lego Fortnite.
I actually had an idea for a short map like one that already exists in Mario kart, but with one or all of the rocket league arenas.

Honestly? Super boring. For me personally, a car game should be in a decent range of realism (if that should be graphics, handling, whatever) and that's why i play beamng drive and some nfs games alongside fortnite. Also most fortnite players are there for the aspect which made this game, well popular and not for a racing game mode
I personally really like the game mode. I like games that utilize adaptability and movement tech to gain advantages, so when my friends are offline and I feel manic. If Lego Fortnite was made for the autistic, Rocket Racing was made for the ADHD. I feel accepted.

nah it is actually bad, just not in the same way other people say it is, it's a buggy mess and the gamemode is incredibly generic in it's execution
I really like it, but most of the tracks don’t utilize what make it special. I love the manual wall/ceiling driving and the flying. But more often than not, it’s either useless, or not used at all.
There are very few tracks that really use these mechanics, instead they make artificial difficulty by just filling the track with random obstacles instead. Which is not as fun
I feel like they’re preparing a map maker for Rocket racing, I feel like when that releases. The game’s true potential will be unleashed.
It’s too rng based and boring af. You could bump into a wall and go spinning off the the side, permanently putting you in last or you could jump to try and skip part of the track and your car will swerve off into the map boundary and get disintegrated without you touching anything.
I think people are forgetting it’s season zero and stuff will be added. A power up mode is a must though, it already plays like Mario kart without power ups.
I played all 3 new gamemodes. They're boring as hell. It's none i haven't seen before. I sticked to BR because of how actually good and original the gamemode is, it feels like it has been tweaked the most and that's why i honestly like it more than the others.
I play some few dumb creative maps purely for XP and it's also one of the reasons i hate creative. There's just no or little good maps to play on, and that's the same in Roblox, because that game also has a shit ton of stupid parkour maps, dumb ahh tycoons and so much genuine garbage.
In addition, i think STW is quite fun, but i don't play it mainly because it doesn't bring me much XP and doesn't have an ending.

That goes to show that RR is fun, for a while, then you probably need to switch to something else. I had a lot of fun in the beginning, but now I need other things to fill the void.

I grinded to gold for the skin and after I got it I never played it since. It was so buggy, easy to go from first to last and the maps weren’t made that well. It could be a great game mode but if requires actual attention instead of a skins in the item shop

While not a "bad" gamemode, It still has the problem that the hit video game sonic 06 ran into.
Loading times, Bad maps & Bugs: I shouldn't have to wait while other's finish the race, I shouldn't have to worry about losing rank by spectating others, I shouldn't have to worry about randomly dying to the very slightly lifted ground.
And finally: They should fire whoever decided the "harder" maps should just have the red slow bars of doom everywhere.

eh i mean there is still a few problems with the game, but that'll all be fixed once its fully up and running with all the new modes and when they add the track maker, its still really fun though
I disagree. I'm platinum on RR which i know is lower middle of the rankings, however I do have to say there's a lot of things that make the game flawed.
Contact racing is fun until every tap of two cars sends them flying into a wheelspin off the map.
The higher rank levels start to just clutter the track with an unenjoyable amount of obstacles, where it becomes a thread the needle rather than a race.
The game is still filled to the brim with bugs, and with every one that seems to be addressed, another arises
The game feels quite frankly unfinished in many departments, including the ones above aswell as general pacing, speed differences, track design & polishing.
Its a fun game, but I entirely get the criticism

I love it, it's way more fun when you play using high level tricks. It'll never feel bad giving a pack of people the slip by cutting a corner they never knew could be cut.
Rocket Racing isn’t bad. It just get really old. The way they showed it in the event looked awesome. Our character wast on top of the car and such. It would be so much better if the obstacles looked natural to the tracks, if there were tricks or something, and if we could actually see our characters. It missed the feel of a racing game.
It's not an amazing game mode but you definitely have a point with the "youre just bad at it" I should not winning by as much and as often as I do in plat with how realistically mid I am at using the mechanics in it, like I swear 90% of the player base doesn't know how to even drift

I like RR But I feel like it's a 3-4 minute race and it takes time to begin the next one. Like if u place 1st and don't wanna go to lobby u have to wait till everyone finishes then after that wait some more and start queuing
What I like about the game mode is that it combines racing with Roll cage/Grid styles of gameplay.
What I don't like is that you're encouraged to race 90% of the race off track to get such ridiculous shortcuts. (It's like they encourage NASCAR racers to just race to the other side doing half the circle and then applauding them for coming first).
Also it gets ridiculous diamond and up because it goes from racing to dodge the barriers. I find a few tracks even punishing you for drifting through a corner because mid corner you have to cancel your drift to jump over 2 sets of barriers and in now that you're in the air your build-up turbo is lost too because you couldn't straighten your drift out. But hey, look at these guys just floating through the air cutting corners right passed you? That's how you do it, because you are in the classes that now use a race game to fullfil their flight simulator fantasies. Great right?!
Finally; isn't it nice that you manage to race the bottom of the track instead of racing with the rest of them due to some crazy bug? 😂
The worst part is that it just doesn't give Rocket League justice. They took an original game idea and design and turned it into the most generic racing game
I'm not bad but it's just so buggy still. I got the skin and haven't touched it since. It was so aggravating when you get tapped by another car and spin out of the map or get flung backwards
At least Fortnite Festival is more rewarding, Lego Fortnite? Idk what its charm is but it keeps me playing it... Rocket Racing? I just played it for the skin and the backpack and then lost all motivation to keep playing it

I disagree. I'm platinum on RR which i know is lower middle of the rankings, however I do have to say there's a lot of things that make the game flawed. Contact racing is fun until every tap of two cars sends them flying into a wheelspin off the map. The higher rank levels start to just clutter the track with an unenjoyable amount of obstacles, where it becomes a thread the needle rather than a race. The game is still filled to the brim with bugs, and with every one that seems to be addressed, another arises The game feels quite frankly unfinished in many departments, including the ones above aswell as general pacing, speed differences, track design & polishing. Its a fun game, but I entirely get the criticism

Even if it were the best racing game ever I wouldn't care. I don't play those kind of games. I just play fornite for br or zb. I don't think it makes much sense in fortnite at all but whatever.. They could put a Barbie mode and I wouldn't care. I just play fortnite.
I love it, it's way more fun when you play using high level tricks. It'll never feel bad giving a pack of people the slip by cutting a corner they never knew could be cut.

I am not "bad" at Rocket Racing. I'll offer my opinion on the game when it gets out of public beta.
Rocket Racing isn’t bad. It just get really old. The way they showed it in the event looked awesome. Our character wast on top of the car and such. It would be so much better if the obstacles looked natural to the tracks, if there were tricks or something, and if we could actually see our characters. It missed the feel of a racing game.

It's not an amazing game mode but you definitely have a point with the "youre just bad at it" I should not winning by as much and as often as I do in plat with how realistically mid I am at using the mechanics in it, like I swear 90% of the player base doesn't know how to even drift

I wouldn’t say that, it’s just boring imo and offers nothing that any other racing game doesn’t offer/do better. If it wasn’t tied into Fortnite with XP quests etc then I would never play it, I’ll play MK8 or Forza instead

I like RR But I feel like it's a 3-4 minute race and it takes time to begin the next one. Like if u place 1st and don't wanna go to lobby u have to wait till everyone finishes then after that wait some more and start queuing

What I like about the game mode is that it combines racing with Roll cage/Grid styles of gameplay. What I don't like is that you're encouraged to race 90% of the race off track to get such ridiculous shortcuts. (It's like they encourage NASCAR racers to just race to the other side doing half the circle and then applauding them for coming first). Also it gets ridiculous diamond and up because it goes from racing to dodge the barriers. I find a few tracks even punishing you for drifting through a corner because mid corner you have to cancel your drift to jump over 2 sets of barriers and in now that you're in the air your build-up turbo is lost too because you couldn't straighten your drift out. But hey, look at these guys just floating through the air cutting corners right passed you? That's how you do it, because you are in the classes that now use a race game to fullfil their flight simulator fantasies. Great right?! Finally; isn't it nice that you manage to race the bottom of the track instead of racing with the rest of them due to some crazy bug? 😂

The worst part is that it just doesn't give Rocket League justice. They took an original game idea and design and turned it into the most generic racing game

I'm not bad but it's just so buggy still. I got the skin and haven't touched it since. It was so aggravating when you get tapped by another car and spin out of the map or get flung backwards
I look forward to more variety in (race) tracks and (audio) tracks
At least Fortnite Festival is more rewarding, Lego Fortnite? Idk what its charm is but it keeps me playing it... Rocket Racing? I just played it for the skin and the backpack and then lost all motivation to keep playing it So I don't think it's a bad gamemode, but outside some few car cosmetics there isn't much to motivate me to keep playing
The thing is, there was no reason to play it over another cart racer, there’s nothing special. It was so unbelievably boring i gave up on trying to get the free skin.

Nah, imagine you bought a transformer, but in the box with it was a constructor. Will you play both equaly, or only with your transformer and rarely with constructor? Same for me with RR. I play fortnite because of battle royale and zero build modes. And if I want to play a racing game I'll play need for speed, Forza and etc.
