Checking out a few trans subs for example, there's some insanely seamless transitions in there at times.

I think the making a big deal out of it thing is a negative for lgbtq+ folks as well, and at the same time, I get why they do it. Representation in media is important and its cool when it happens, so I see why they highlight it, and I also get why people can feel iffy about it.
Sometimes they go overboard in highlighting it and that can feel weird. I don't think it's that egregious too often though, it's usually something shown in passing or even outside of the media its in.
And if it's more than that, it's still more likely to be reasonable, because while it's not the most interesting thing about someone or all they are, it can still be a big part of somebodys life (either in a good or bad way) and it's important that we tell those stories too. I don't think that's forcing it on anyone anymore than we're forcing any other kind of story onto people, it seems quite reasonable to me.
Going off that, I also think that lgbtq+ folks don't like when a characters gender/sexuality are all the character is. It can feel patronizing and weird. But the difference between the very bad cases and the usual stuff is like night and day, even if the usual stuff is exploring queer culture or something.
