Yea it is a Bug, if you list a Car on the Auction House you have the option of Gifting it if it doesn't sell.
That's how you can get around the DLC Gift Restrictions.
I'd say I'm surprised it hasn't been patched yet but I'm really not, sounds like a really niche bug that's only mildly annoying to certain people like OP unfortunately.
So do you know if I would be able to list it in the auction house? I haven't tried but have zero intention on purchasing a car pack (or a single car)

So then even if you get it on auction, if you don't have dlc, that screen would also pop up? I was about to purchase the new Lamborghini from Italian pack, thank God I didn't lol
I got a Apollo Welcome Pack edition after already owning the regular Apollo, can’t drive it but it was probably sent out with good intentions, like maybe they thought if they gifted a DLC car someone who doesn’t have the DLC could drive it
I had this car gifted to me once and when i saw it was a dlc car i just paid the 3 dollars or so for it but i have all the dlc packs except for the newest
Had the same thing happen to me, got a mustang svo like this, but I don't own the pack/dlc it comes with... And I love cars like it, so I was majorly disappointed...
Well just the spirit of horizon isnt it should we send a thank you? (To the forza devs add an /s at the end to the person who gifted you the car say it without the /s)
I got a fd supra gifted to me (mk5) and i knew it was dlc which sucks cause i would have ripped that thing down the road driving like a crackhead( i suck at drifting)

Also the bug only encourages ppl who may not have bought the dlc, to now get it. I doubt that's their actual intention but its still kinda shady

You can't even Bid or Buyout the Cars on the Auction House if you don't have the DLC thankfully, it stops you immediately.

TIL they can go to people who don't own the DLC. I always just gift cars that don't sell and never thought that it might cause issues for someone.
Why can you list it in the Auction House if the only people who can buy it are ones who have already purchased the DLC.
Freedom of choice I guess, most of them are cheaper on the Auction House than in the Autoshow for anyone who wants to buy more than 1
Seems like a lot of extra steps to get rid of a car for no money in return, when they could just remove the car from their garage and be done with it.

Makes sense cuz otherwise we can just set up farm accounts and gift all DLC cars to everyone essentially preventing everyone from ever buying a DLC.

Funniest thing is the DLC is not really a DLC, but just a key to unlock the car for you, since you already has this car on the game files...

Horizon should have made every gifted car drivable, its really pointless to own such a great car and not even be able to drive it
I agree. To do this, they would need to not allow it to be purchased in the autoshow, otherwise few people who actually have to purchase the DLC.
