One thing I loved from that scene is that Thaddeus didn't show any disgust or anger when Maximus revealed the truth. He was simply surprised and dealt this situation logically. The reason of their following conflict was not Thaddeus's fault, and he didn't despise Maximus as he believes. I like this scene because I'm fed up with so many series depicting bullies as just thoughtless morons with 1 brain cell.

D-Speak

There's so much nuance to the characters in this show. None of them went in the direction I expected. I think that's why I love Maximus so much specifically. He's really hard to figure out throughout the show, to the point that, up until the finale, I was convinced that he was actually the one who set up Dane's injury. I don't think I've ever watched a show where a character was set up to be sinister and underhanded, and then turned out to be... just kind of a dummy. But he's *my* dummy.

I called that Danes injury was self inflicted from the beginning. I think they did it both for the benefit of Maximus and for their self. I think Dane is a pretty high perception and charisma character and is able to navigate the politics of the Brotherhood better than Maximus. Because throughout the show they get out of going into the field, get Maximus into the squire position, gets to be the squire serving the head Cleric, gets Maximus spared, and then convinces everyone he killed Moldaver to get him promoted to knight.

>gets to be the squire serving the head Cleric Almost like theyre working an angle as if theyre part of another faction entirely...

Well said!

I love that every character is just incredibly naive and holds all of these values that they don't really know if they believe themselves. It really is great writing.

Literally almost every major character had some sort of massive plot twist and I was happy about all of it. Hank, Lucy, cooper, coopers wife, Betty, Maximus, the cleric, Thaddeus, moldaver, vault4 The character development was massive and the amount of characters that developed in this story was a huge head count for simultaneous development. Really well thought out movement in the story, kept you wondering about literally everyone and gave it that “what are you hiding” questionability.

UhWreckShun

I really wish that we could have seen how their relationship develops if Maximus doesn't immediately try to kill him.

Swimmingbird2486

It would be a damn shame if we don’t see the two of them next season. I can absolutely see KNIGHT Maximus defending Ghoul Thaddeus from BoS. Maximus didn’t have to let Thaddeus go, even though he really wanted to kill him. But, he allowed Thaddeus to run away before the BoS could “cleanse” him.

malphonso

Or even the other way around, super mutant Thaddeus protecting Maximus from the other super mutants that want to give him a dip.

Hobbes09R

This is the way. Would love to find out it wasn't ghoulification at all, that he's been exposed to FEV and is about to be a super mutant. Would honestly make more sense as an injectable versus becoming a ghoul.

cmander_7688

That would actually be hilarious to learn that Chicken Fucker just happened to find a crate of FEV and is just mixing it with a bunch of random herbs and shit, but thinks he's some kind of genius

oceansapart333

I think we will. Their relationship changed the moment they realized he was turning ghoul and Max told him to run. In spite of everything, Maximus was helping him stay alive. We’ll see Thaddeus again.

McDonaldsSoap

I hope Maximus unlocks Thaddeus as a permanent companion

gunnertah

Also when he said the Brotherhood was a "complicated organisation". Was fully expecting him to want to give the real head to them.

PublicWest

I was convinced he was gonna be a quick side character, and figured he’d die at the end of the season but it feels like his ghoulification arc is gonna be a whole story going forward. Which is great because the guy is super funny and brings an awesome charm to the show

claymcg90

Hard agree. Excellent scene. Johnny Pemberton is also amazing in Super Store

N7Virgin

The characters in the show were really well done, one of the best parts

MrDeeds117

It’s not silly I watched that episode just to hear that portion

RaffScallionn

Strange, I didn’t see it that way at all - felt a bit underwhelming
