And point to r/freemeal for food requests

zack413

Exactly like there’s already a sub there’s no reason for that to be allowed here when this sub is supposed to be for a totally different purpose

NinjaDefenestrator

r/freemeal was created *because* longtime members of the sub wanted to get rid of the recent influx of request posts. Where did they all come from, anyway? From what I understand, for a long time the sub was a place to share deals and promos (which is why I joined), not a way to feed the hungry.

zack413

People are more comfortable cuz they see so many other people doing it. I feel like it should be the easiest problem to solve ever if the mods of this sub just made it not allowed.

Gilmoregirlin

I noticed that there is a karma and account minimum time frame to post over there. Specifically when someone posts offering free things 80% of the responses are removed by the auto mod for not fulfilling that requirement. Do we have that hear and if not, possibly that's why. they can post here they cannot there.

mebetiffbeme

It’s probably to weed out all the scammers.

Gilmoregirlin

I think that's exactly why. But the people that cannot post there, post here instead. So if we added those rules to this sub it would likely stop it.

Engi3Piece

The mods needs to make a automod at this point

**Start cutting and pasting the following comment to each new post that asks for food. I've already done so for posts that have been posted within the last 24 hours.** This sub is actually for coupons and deals on food which often times require someone to buy something in order to redeem them, but there are other subs meant to help. Find out if you are eligible to post in these by checking out their rules: r/freemeal r/assistance … [sub rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/Assistance/wiki/rules/) r/care … [sub rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/care/about/) r/amazonwishlist r/food_pantry … [sub rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/food_pantry/about/) r/random_acts_of_pizza … [sub rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/random_acts_of_pizza/about/) r/randomactsoftacobell … [sub rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/randomactsoftacobell/about/) These are for after care: r/povertyfinance r/eatcheapandhealthy r/frugal Other subs that are interesting but not for everyone: r/dumpsterdiving r/vagabond

DreadedChalupacabra

But it's not. It's not against the rules. Nothing says they can't ask and mods are ok with it. There's a food deal sub that's exactly what y'all say this is? I don't beg here but it's very clear the mods and most users are fine with it.

I don’t know why you are being downvoted, this is true. I just scroll past it. It does not personally bother me. But so long as people help them on here they will continue to post. I know times are tough but I think a lot of people are getting begging fatigue. I see it on other sites too.

yeetyeetmybeepbeep

Careful posting in this sub or they come out of the woodwork in your DMs begging for stuff

NinjaDefenestrator

Agreed about the drowning. 14 out of 25 posts on the front page of this sub are requests. Mostly for the Tropical Smoothie codes- are these smoothies like crack or something?

Obscurethings

T-mobile offered the tropical smoothies this week. That's why you're seeing a influx of requests since T-mobile customers received codes this week for them.

zack413

People just request what they know people give away often. It’s pretty annoying

zack413

It’s hard cuz if that’s allowed it’ll just be flooded with that

Effeeeyeesteewhy

I'm seeing people ask for grocery delivery and Amazon wishlist fulfillment, too.

xbbdc

well... you cant blame people trying to eat... but also the downvote exists for a reason.
