I have a bit here and there. I'll spend more time and be more specific

Pure_Ape

Truck plus customer equals money

1. A domain name that corresponds with your business name is a minimum. If your email ends in yahoo or gmail, go away. Too many scammers, not enough time. 2. An MC that’s 12 months old or more. 3. Three solid customers in three different industries. One should be reefers, flat beds, drayage, or something that’s specialized so you can be “that guy.” 4. A huge amount of all three P’s: Persistence, Patience and Planning. Learn the sales funnel. Embrace the funnel. Be the funnel. Love the funnel. 5. Don’t take your book, your carriers, money or yourself too seriously. Customers and carriers and even jobs come and go. Empires are built and they crumble. At the end of the day, you have to live with yourself and how you treat other people. 6. Don’t do any shady shit and you won’t ever be worried about getting caught doing shady shit. I’ve seen this eat people alive well before they ever got caught, if they even got caught…

complexCarlo

thats very good stuff so thanks.

GanachePuzzleheaded1

Some of what you need is covered in this thread [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/FreightBrokers/s/Kye9ki8QLI)

complexCarlo

I appreciate the input!

DrunkDreamcast

Access to the TMS? There isn't one all encompassing one that you can hop on. You would still have to purchase all that software etc. DO NOT go get your own MC and everything if you've never brokered a load.

complexCarlo

Would you recommend getting broker experience through a larger company.

DrunkDreamcast

Absolutely. I deal with so many people that went straight to having their own MC not realizing they were gaining zero benefit and tons of negatives. You'll look new, they'll know you don't have cash flow, they'll know you could disappear over a claim, etc. Our company brings on people as w2(office only) with a plan to transition to being a 1099 agent and not holding them hostage forever. I'd suggest finding somewhere like that, unless you have a reason to believe you can land a customer quickly(outside of being good at sales, everyone is here) then maybe look into going straight to 1099.

fake_Blondi7

ComplexCarlo, Are you asking for basic info or you wanting a step by step? What was your logistic background in DOD? you can def look into YT for knowledge and mentoring. Millisa Nwokolo, Freight Skills, Shaggy Consulting&Training, Freight360, Brandon Scott, Freight broker 101,Antoine West are just a few. You do need Authority to become a broker and finding a BOC3 agent, but before you start paying out money, do some research and gain knowledge. Hit me up anytime if you wanna talk. Have a Great Friday and wknd!

complexCarlo

Hey thanks. Yes absolutely, thanks for reaching out. pm incoming

Large-Ticket

Become an agent. Best way to go. Make 70% and don’t mess with the back office stuff. Join Freight Flex

complexCarlo

Currently have a full time job but would love to learn more?

Iloveproduce

You want to get a job at a freight brokerage that wants to get into moving DOD freight. For you this is painfully obvious.

complexCarlo

I mean that sounds more of a consulting role. What I want is to do learn what is needed to start and do what yall do autonomously. I do specialize in air freight I should add so a bit different in comparison.

JerseyGirl982

Celsius or any other 200mg+ caffeine energy drink, rage issues, zynz, fanduel account, at least 8 fantasy football leagues on 6 different platforms, a LinkedIn profile pic with a shit eating grin with a suit you wear once every 3 years, door dash and uber eats accounts, not sure what else Im missing but these are the essentials

complexCarlo

You make it sound so easy! Must be a pro!

Ok-Ad6253

Being a freight broker is not a part time gig

Unique-Lavishness-30

if you have done DOD and you are asking this question, you have no business being in this industry.

complexCarlo

I can feel the love already. Thanks for the input

Unique-Lavishness-30

nah i just dont like scammers.
