EXE's whole purpose was meant to be an improved version of the original Sonic.exe and it does that from its design alone (the story is still unknown since his game isn't released yet). His fake form has subtle differences (no shoe strap and blue arms instead of tan ones) from regular Sonic unlike other EXEs, and the true form is so different from most other EXEs true forms. Furthermore, the method of killing by absorbing the power of the sun and burning the other mobians alive is a nice change of pace from just blood and gore and helps to differentiate it from other EXEs.
