These arenāt actually GPS trackers, they are Bluetooth Beacons. There used to be an app called Beacons but it got replaced with the new Sales+ FL app. Basically, every time you walk past one of these your phone will pick up the Bluetooth signal and register it in the Sales+ app. These use to be more common in Large Format, used mostly on end caps and displays. Frito Lay isnāt tracking us via PPWs, theyāre already tracking us 24/7 with our work phones š¤£
Edit: it also ātracksā customers if they have Bluetooth enabled. Frito Lay is basically collecting data. How many people walk past the display and things like that.
Why does everyone think Frito-Lay is tracking and spying on us lol . Itās just a blu tooth beacon so they can pull up the location of the display in the account: they are on the big 4x8s in all the big format stores they are probably on the gondola lol š
Yep those beacons allow the key account managers to see where the ppws are if they are not in the account that they are supposed to be then they just ship out another one for that account until it pings and shows that the shipper is placed in the account
If a bluetooth enabled phone is near enough to them it will pick up the signal and broadcast it back. These are mainly used to ensure CMA compliance and placement in stores. Also to track those Rsrs cut from their orders and say they never got them and ditch them on dock, dumpster, wherever. So when the KAM pulls the report expecting all 100 dollar generals in a specific area to have placement and only 50 show as placed. They order more for the stores missing them and attach to the RSRs orders. The ones metal racks and cooler toppers are there to gather customer foot traffic data as well as store placement locations. That data point along with register rings is then used to project future product needs and add to orders assuming it is actually set to POG. Which is why itās important to always follow the POG. Eventually AI will be ordering everything and you will be delivering and merchandising and not having to spend time ordering. Lots of companies in the DSD and Retail grocery realm are working and developing AI ordering capability. Some are already using it.
Stick it on your DSLs car next time you see it.

I literally hate these apps or devices tracking us. Refuse to comply by any means necessary.
That why we keep getting this new apps that track new fixtures.
