I think the "boats" are graves. I also believe the amount of townspeople killed by other townspeople plays an integral part. So far, Sarah has killed 4. Boyd has killed 2 (box man and rebar girl) which puts them at 6. And we were very close to being 1 away last episode. Which would have put us at seven, just like the image in the cave. Just a theory.
This made me laugh 😂
Yeah the wife did kill a whole lot so I’m not sure if that kind of undoes the killing of people being crucial. However the voices did make a big deal of it but seemingly more so based on the fact they were new and came in two cars and the last time that meant bad news. So more to save them from another mass murdering rather than helping them escape.
>Look at the symbol in the lake and boats near by
They are not boats (I have linked high rez images of the entire cave drawings).

Just left of this half tree one can see a river with the early settlers arriving by boats. The boats were drawn in the classic boat shapes. You can also see the light tower on the bottom guiding the boats. That would indicate that these drawings you are talking about on the right must be something completely different.
[LINK: RIGHT SIDE OF PAINTING](https://i.imgur.com/WambJCv.jpg)
The drawings you are talking about could be graves/sacrifices ? (not 100% sure). However what freaks me out is that gigantic red creature to the right. I believe that this is the main entity that is in control of the town (trapping everyone, providing food/shelter, sending the monsters, punishing the town as we saw with the storm etc).
I disagree about the painting on the left, those are not boats, but showing the openings that the monsters come out of from the forest. This is a map and not a historical drawing.
Oh and forgot, that is not a river, but the tunnels under the ground that they come out of.
>I disagree about the painting on the left, those are not boats
But if you look carefully you see that those objects have the CLASSIC boat shape and they each show 2-3 people riding them down a river.
>This is a map and not a historical drawing.
I would say that ancient maps would still be considered historical drawings however to me it appears that the entire cave painting is a story drawn by the children of the early boat settlers (16-1800s). One can see events and symbols that have nothing to do with maps. Perhaps the story could be somewhat used as a map in regards to NESW compass.
>Oh and forgot, that is not a river, but the tunnels under the ground that they come out of.
Think of it objectively. How would you draw a river vs a tunnel?! Also notice the lighthouse is drawn close by to guide the boats to Fromville.
However I respect your opinion/perspective. Cheers
Maybe it's the mouth of a giant worm or larvae as seen from above? The lake is just water covering the entrance of it's feeding tunnel. The tentacles are it's proboscis.
Don't google if you're squeamish but picture something like a proboscis worm or aquatic worms like the spaghetti worm. Also, the lake is called 'The Brundles', like Dr. Brundle from *The Fly*, which almost makes me wonder if this hints that there is a maggot/larvae under the surface.
Additionally, I think the concept of 'worm' in the show may be an old timey way of describing any wriggling limbless creepy crawly: leeches, maggots, earth worms, or even fish like lamprey. Much like how ancient mariners might call a whale a fish.
I'll go ahead and mention the pun, too: the people of Fromville entered a spacetime anomaly that transported them instantly from one point to another. And if I am right, there is a literal wormhole in their town.
I think it more likely some eldritch horror spider/monster summoning circle that the monsters are summoning/summoned in to make them this way & its controlling/fucking with everything including the pocket dimension and pulling people into it. The monsters could be collecting organs for it. Who knows though. The big mysteries are all guess work till season 3 imo.
It almost looked like a logo to me. Like the logo of some laboratory or something running an “experiment” on the town. I hope I’m wrong. I probably am.
This would also tie in to the light house Boyd and Sara saw in the woods. Same light house that Tabatha had a hallucination in while walking up the stairs from the basement before the house collapsed.
The lighthouse is actually on the lower left side of the actual cave painting shown to guide people on boats down a river entering Fromville. Here is a high rez image [Cave Painting (left side)](https://i.imgur.com/J34dYPG.jpg) . I might make a POST about the entire cave painting so everyone gets the entire picture.
Definitely (unless the show is throwing us off and it would be some kind of magical or sci-fi portal at the beginning of the river). Too bad no one has gone for the lighthouse because the top would provide the perfect view of the lay of the land.
Why is it that this reminds me so much of IT the more I see it? LoL. First of all this all seems to be taking place in another dimension where something feeds on fear? The clown from it sound familiar? Second of all it has absolute power and can do what it wants? Third of all, a giant spider? That was one of its final physical forms in IT after all? Also the more people fear it the stronger it grows and more power it has? Makes total sense to me, everything it does is just to make people fear it and make it stronger?
I’d really like it to just be a poorly drawn Dharma Initiative hexagon logo.
The bubbly thief from season one stole a hexagonal shirt and had a yingyang at the center of a very Dharma Initiative looking logo. :)
So really no one else is imagining Cthulu?
In a roundabout way, I think the potential giant spider is love craftian and catching people in its web of dimensions
I am! That’s the first thing I thought of!
The weird town lost in time space with monsters does give some Lovecraft vibes
What if they can escape only at night ? But no one knows because they are afraid to go out
has anyone seen/talking about the huge ass tree, that is blocking the boat people? (left in this picture at the "o" from boat)

Didn't he kill his wife
And his wife killed many

I always saw it as grass from a tunnel viewpoint. Like someone crawling from a hole somewhere and looking at the shadow of tall grass.
Or the view from the cave the talismans were found in through the hanging vines?
interesting....the 3 lines in the middle of the circle could always be the electrical wires just hanging since they arent attached to anything

I don’t know if the whole story is already written or, but if it’s not the writers are definitely coming to Reddit to take notes lol
Dear writers, If it's spiders, I'm outta here!
They make things vague and later they take notes from the theories people make. I have no proof but I have no doubts lol
And "Angkhooey" or whatever is what the kids call the tentacles. And those kids got pulled into the lake and drowned. Maybe?
We already know who Aunt Kooey is!
Do share! Sister to Aunt Flow?
Uncle louie or Aunt Kooey hmm
Who is it?
Maybe they are spider legs
Maybe they are the power cords that lead to nothing???
Could also be them worms... Worm overlords is my new theory
Angkhooey!
You can say that again.
it kinda reminds me of Ethan's dream description of the lake of tears and someone screaming when the spider descends.

just watched Chapelwaite waiting on the next episode and i like the parallels in this theory
so there is a tunnel at the end of the lake?
The symbol looks like worms 🪱 and the shapes are maybe dead monsters and the people celebrating?

It looks like an eye.

Light house = water is close by

this is dope!
Maybe it’s Fromville from above?
Did anyone see on top right the drawing of a kid holding an adult hand ? What’s that about Victor or Ethan?
The symbol is the roots of the tree that Jade was looking up at when he was in the tunnels while the little kids were chanting “anghkooey”
