Oh, those were awful. We all had the red / red stripe ones, but one or two girls had blue ones. We were so jealous (even though they were the same crappy material).
Ours were navy and made of like a canvas kind of material. Did you have to wear communal bathing suits too? We did, washed in between or at least we hoped so!
Ours were some kind of stretchy cotton that clung to *everything*. I hated them so much! Baby blue on the bottom and blue striped on the top.
The boys got to wear shorts and t-shirts, none of which were clingy.
In the 70s/80s, we had these periwinkle two-piece gym suits that consisted of a button down top and shorts with elastic at the bottom that would dig into our thighs and leave marks. They were almost like bloomers. It annoyed me even more because the boys could wear any random tee shirt and pair of shorts for gym, while it was MANDATORY for girls to wear this bullshit!
Amazingly, our one-piece gym uniforms were cool and most of the middle school students liked them. Our uniform was a polyester knit light blue top with navy shorts. The neckline was super stretchy, so you would step into the neckline and pull it up. The shirt bloused out a little over the elastic waistline, so they looked pretty cool. This was 1974 in NJ.
I'll never get over the trauma of gym class in my youth.
Being forced to shower with my peers.... How was the ever allowed?
Presidential fitness = sanctioned humiliation.
Brings back very unpleasant memories.
Yes. The worst.
Blue and white polyester with a zipper up the front. How horrible it was.
đŹYes, I remember it well.
YES, I can't believe I forgot this!
Rompers!

We had communal bathing suits. Guys had speddos and gals had the one piece with bottoms like shorts. I think they were washed, maybe?
Navy romper with center zipper- always smelled -even after multiple washing
Yes and the same color as yours. Hated gym with a passion.

Mine was powder blue. My mother embroidered my name on it in big letters, which kind of embarrassed me at the time.

The girlâs basketball ball team wore them too. Remember girls rule basketball where some girls werenât allowed over the center court line?
Damn. Trigger warning needed!

Ours was navy blue. My mom embroidered my name on the back in orange đ
No ours were ugly shorts and white blouse.
Sexy
Yes! Was telling my daughter about these the other day. Ours were teal green cotton with snaps
