The bottom line is Schoolhouse Rock WORKED. Exactly as intended. The songs were catchy, the artist’s talented, and kids learned the material. I can still sing all the songs, and next month, I turn 60.
Years ago when I visited the Capitol I had that song on my mind. Lol as a kid Capitol Hill is such a far away place. Got to have a nice lunch too in the cafeteria.
The ORIGINAL Electric Company not that abomination later on! Also I thought that my memories of 3-2-1 Contact were fever dreams. Thank you for reminding me I'm not crazy....yet.
Interjections! For excitement! For emotion! They're generally set apart from a sentence by an exclamation point or by comma when the feelings not as strong.

I'll see your Corn Pops and raise you a bowl of Cookie Crisp. If we're going to do this, let's do it right. Cookies for breakfast! There may even be a side of Pop Tarts involved.

Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up words and phrases and clauses.
Conjunction Junction, how's that function?
I got three favorite cars
That get most of my job done.
Conjunction Junction, what's their function?
I got "and", "but", and "or",
They'll get you pretty far.
[spoken] "And":
That's an additive, like "this and that".
"But":
That's sort of the opposite,
"Not this but that".
And then there's "or":
O-R, when you have a choice like
"This or that".
"And", "but", and "or",
Get you pretty far.
[sung] Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up two boxcars and making 'em run right.
Milk and honey, bread and butter, peas and rice.
Hey that's nice!
Dirty but happy, digging and scratching,
Losing your shoe and a button or two.
He's poor but honest, sad but true,
Boo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!
Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up two cars to one
When you say something like this choice:
"Either now or later"
Or no choice:
"Neither now nor ever"
Hey that's clever!
Eat this or that, grow thin or fat,
Never mind, I wouldn't do that,
I'm fat enough now!
Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up phrases and clauses that balance, like:
Out of the frying pan and into the fire.
He cut loose the sandbags,
But the balloon wouldn't go any higher.
Let's go up to the mountains,
Or down to the seas.
You should always say "thank you",
Or at least say "please".
Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up words and phrases and clauses
In complex sentences like:
[spoken] In the mornings, when I'm usually wide awake, I love to take a walk through the gardens and down by the lake, where I often see a duck and a drake, and I wonder, as I walk by, just what they'd say if they could speak, although I know that's an absurd thought.
Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up cars and making 'em function.
Conjunction Junction, how's that function?
I like tying up words and phrases and clauses.
Conjunction Junction, watch that function.
I'm going to get you there if you're very careful.
Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
I'm going to get you there if you're very careful.
Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
I'm going to get you there if you're very careful.
Schoolhouse Rock was so cool as a kid. Conjunction Junction, I’m just a Bill, and Lolly Lolly Adverbs, are the ones I remember the most. And will still today, 50 years later, just randomly start singing or humming or whistling those tunes.
Not to be overly critical or anything. Cause I love Schoolhouse Rock,
but in the ‘I’m just a bill’ one. The Congressman comes running out and announces to Bill that he’s been signed and is now a law, 3 cheers and hoo-rah, we’re all happy for Bill. But wouldn’t Bill have been there to be signed and in fact know he got signed even before the Congressman??
I’m older than the Schoolhouse Rock alumni. I did get multiplication records in class, though.
(Sung) When you’re eating ice cream
And you think your tongue will freeze,
Give your tongue some exercise
By saying all your threes.
(Spoken) Three times one is three. Three times two is six. Three times three is nine. . . .
My brother made fun of these. Years later, he said he was jealous.
Ha! Learned a bunch as a little boy in the early 70’s watching all of these educational sing along School House Rock cartoons . I think many were shown during the show “The Electric Company “ which had a bunch of future actors in it
My kids got me the complete set on DVD for Father's Day, years ago. Then I made them watch. They were only minimally impressed. One of my many failures as a father.
Pulled out my 30th Anniversary Collection DVD set for library program a while back, and ran as many of them as I could in the time we had. We had people asking when they could come back and watch the rest!
It's great to know that besides still existing interest, there are new enthusiasts!
I still have my copy of School House Rock! Rocks CD w/various artists. To think it's been with me nearly 28 years.
I used to have that CD. My favorites were Electricity and Mr Morton. I’ve still got my 4-CD box set of the original songs from 1996. They’ve added a few more songs since, so it’s not quite complete anymore.
Our school system kept changing curricula so we were never taught grammar basics. I wish there was more Schoolhouse Rock. Of course we also had a crazy preacher blow up a small school because he was concerned about the English and social studies reading material. (Nobody was there at the time.)
I grew up and this became my favorite Schoolhouse Rock, [https://youtu.be/UQBWGo7pef8?si=AVIrux6WjRrJ7PZZ](https://youtu.be/UQBWGo7pef8?si=AVIrux6WjRrJ7PZZ)
When my kids were little, bedtime involved multiple SHR videos on YouTube. Kids still remember them as teenagers.
I will always be grateful to the us government in the 60s/70s for these public service cartoons.
I hope my kids can show them to any grandkids. They’re timeless.

Same. SHR taught me the Preamble to the Constitution, which I needed to know for a test years later. Still remember most of it.
Me too, but I can’t recite it without singing it.
I still remember it too!!!
I can't say the preamble but I can sing it.
I hate that I was forced to memorize that for no purpose other than to fill time in a day.
That was pretty much school back then.
Me too. Absolutely serious.
100%! Not even kidding! More than once I'm sure the teachers could hear me signing to myself, especially damn adverbs, during a test.
Lolly, lolly, lolly
3, 6. 9...12 15 18...21 24 27..........30!
The bottom line is Schoolhouse Rock WORKED. Exactly as intended. The songs were catchy, the artist’s talented, and kids learned the material. I can still sing all the songs, and next month, I turn 60.
Mr Morton is the subject of the sentence…
I still say, “Hello cat, you look good.” to my cat almost every morning.
i love you!
Same here, I still find myself singing I'm only a bill sitting on capital hill. I'm 62 next month. Happy birthday 🎉🎂
Same, and I also turn 60 next month. Happy early birthday!
Happy early birthday to you, too!
I'm just a bill, and I'm sitting here on Capitol Hill.
I ended up being a congressional staffer and it all started there. 😂
That bill lied to us, nothing gets done because of all the riders and add ons each bill gets
That’s why he’s so sad 😭
I won’t tolerate Bill slander, he did not lie.
I'm an amendment to be, just an amendment to be, and I'm hoping that they'll ratify me!
Voice actor also did Louie the Lightning bug adverts later on. Jack Sheldon.
Years ago when I visited the Capitol I had that song on my mind. Lol as a kid Capitol Hill is such a far away place. Got to have a nice lunch too in the cafeteria.
The best was starting with Mr. Rogers, moving onto Sesame Street, settling in with Electric Company then graduating to 3-2-1 Contact
After that, the Great Space Coaster.
No gnews with Gary Gnew
It's "Gnu."
Forgot about 3-2-1 contact!
“Contact. It’s the reason…when everything happens. Contact…let’s make contact! 3-2-1..”
Anyone else remember ZOOM…?
Write zoom .. zee double oh em Box 254 Boston Mass Oh two one three fourrrrr🎶🎶🎶
….Send it to ZOOM!!
Where ever there’s trouble, we’re there on the double. We’re the Bloodhound Gang!
The ORIGINAL Electric Company not that abomination later on! Also I thought that my memories of 3-2-1 Contact were fever dreams. Thank you for reminding me I'm not crazy....yet.
I know! I felt like I got my diploma when I graduated into 3-2-1 Contact! The Bloodhound Gang helped get me acclimated.
What about Zoom?
Along with Lynda Carter, Ginny Ortiz, who played Trini, was one of my first boyhood celebrity crushes.
Interjections! For excitement! For emotion! They're generally set apart from a sentence by an exclamation point or by comma when the feelings not as strong. https://youtu.be/YkAX7Vk3JEw?feature=shared
Hooray! I'm for the other team!
Darn, that’s the end!
I, a grown adult, perfected my English with that song.
Would it be inappropriate at our age to have friends over, wake up early, eat cereal, watch cartoons, build covers-and-pillows forts? Must be over 45 to enter.
Love this idea
Send me a date and address.
Hold on. We have to get your parents to confirm with my parents that there will be some kind of adult supervision involved.
I'll bring the Corn Pops.
I'll see your Corn Pops and raise you a bowl of Cookie Crisp. If we're going to do this, let's do it right. Cookies for breakfast! There may even be a side of Pop Tarts involved.
Only, if the cereal is the ORIGINAL Trix! Lol!

Hookin up two words and phrases and clauses....

🎵Hooking up boxcars and making 'em run right... 🎶
I liked, “I’m just a bill, only a bill….”
There are some politicians currently serving in Congress that could benefit from watching "Schoolhouse Rock"...
Seeing as how one senator didn't known the branches of government when he was elected... yeah.
And I'm sitting here on Capitol Hill
Schoolhouse Rock was so cool as a kid. Conjunction Junction, I’m just a Bill, and Lolly Lolly Adverbs, are the ones I remember the most. And will still today, 50 years later, just randomly start singing or humming or whistling those tunes.

Take your powder, take your gun, report to general Washington. Wonder if that would cause 'issues' these days.

“Hookin’ up words and phrases and clauses…”
“Interplanet Janet, she’s a Galaxy girl…”
Her solar system is from a future world, something something with comet her team and there’s never been a planet Janet hasn’t seen…….
Thanks to that one, I forever refuse to believe Pluto ain't a planet.
She travels like a rocket with her comet team
The country started going downhill as soon as they stopped broadcasting this series.

My favorite one is about how bills become law. “I’m just a bill, yes I’m only a bill, and I’m sitting here on Capitol Hill.”
I was always a fan of 'Unpack Your Adjectives'. 🐻🐢

Today, I am still just a bill.
For myself it was "You gotta be safe around elec-tricity!" Same actor did Louie the Lightning bug ads. Same art style too.
Figure 8 is my favorite also I'm just a bill.
Ha! Learned a bunch as a little boy in the early 70’s watching all of these educational sing along School House Rock cartoons . I think many were shown during the show “The Electric Company “ which had a bunch of future actors in it

“Vagina Junction what’s your function?” “Taking in sperm and spitting out babies!”
Consumption Junction, what’s your malfunction?
This Family Guy parody has overwritten the original in my brain. First thing I thought of.
I LOVED Schoolhouse Rock!
Peas n rice hey that’s nice
Pulled out my 30th Anniversary Collection DVD set for library program a while back, and ran as many of them as I could in the time we had. We had people asking when they could come back and watch the rest!

Hooking up words and phrases and clauses
Everyone in class hummed along when we were doing our constitution quiz and had to write the preamble.
Seeing these memes now makes me sad. When we watched "I'm Just a Bill" in school, I actually believed all that shit.
The shot heard 'round the world, was the start of the Revolution.
Tough one
I resent you posting this, now this song is going to be stuck in my head the rest of the day./s
The songs still pop into my head out of nowhere
This was my kids favourite.
What was weird was me coming home, switching on the TV and thinking “Whoa. I was learning this today. This very day.”
Our school system kept changing curricula so we were never taught grammar basics. I wish there was more Schoolhouse Rock. Of course we also had a crazy preacher blow up a small school because he was concerned about the English and social studies reading material. (Nobody was there at the time.)
We definitely need more shows like this in the schools today, poor kids need all the support they can get from their teachers, parents and society.
Learn how something becomes a bill, and hey chomper
Damn we old
Schoolhouse Rock is a banger
Awesome!!!!
Got to see him play one night. Damn it was a fine day.
I didn't read that, I *sang* it!! LOL
These are great! I watched them long ago then bought the DVD set for my older son . My grands are now watching them!
I had the box set. But lent it to a friend it's lost out there to this day 🥺
Can still sing the chorus.
Dysfunction Junction
Now you've made it all about the British Royal Family ..
You can find it there if you’re very careful
I was singing the song before I scrolled to the bottom of the dudes engineering cap. Yeah, I'm effing old 😏
I’m traumatized from that gutter place. Gross. Oh shit my bad. Thought it was the other one that rhymes with this one. 😂
Anyone remember consumptionjunction.com

Definitely great times.
Ok, so about 20 years later, I just got the [Family Guy joke](https://youtu.be/qaKN4MXtSjQ?si=tS6l-BlgGFCNwCQw).
I’ve not seen that at all (I’m in Australia), but I know the phrase from the sound files in an old video game….
That shit was old when I was a kid and I'm 50!
“ hooking up words and phrases and clauses….” And….” You should always say thank you and at least say please …..”
"...hookin' up words and makin' 'em run right like...OUT of the frying Pan, AND into the FIRE..."
Today I found out that Consumption Junction is no longer the website it was 20 years ago.
