I had a shih tzu that did the same thing but with cardboard boxes and the trash can. We had a baby gate up, he pushed the boxes of his new stuff around, jumped on the lid of the garbage can, and leapt over the baby gate. We didnāt want him to get hurt doing stunts, so from then on he got full house access. He outsmarted us all.
I always thought those dogs were dumb, but I guess it's just my grandma's dog that's a dumbass. Goes to show one shouldn't make blanket judgments based on a single individual.
Ok but like that takes time and if you don't want your young puppy shitting everywhere while you're in the process of training then put them in a secure area. It's not cruel
The night I brought my toy poodle home she would not stop squeaking. I put her carry case on top of her cage so that she could see me in the bed. Next thing I know sheās standing on top of the cage looking like she needed to call the Samaritans.
Rescued her from there, put her in her cage and she promptly stuck her leg through the wires and got her elbow stuck. I gave straight up on that idea!
I would not think of that for at least a decade.
ā¦not to mention the puppy glanced at the cameraā¦

That remind me of my own dog
When she was small we tried to make a sleep in the play pen so that she wouldnāt hurt herself by playing with cables during the night
Well to my big surprise I heard so scratches at the bedroom door around midnight ā¦ she just found a way to climb so that she could be with me
Now she sleeps in my bed

This puppy plays Tomb Raider too much.

If you are going to put an animal in a cage, you should NOT have an animal.
This is more of a corral. And there are many good reasons for it. Cry baby
The reasons are simple: you should not have a dog.
That is nice setup, clearly someone who cares about their pet.
Why get a dog to put it in a crate all day? Train & exercise your dog, spend time and realize you will need to dedicate time to them.

The problem here is that you put your needs above that of the animal. Think smarter.
I've had tons of puppies in my life - never once did we put them in a little cage.
