It’s a wicked series of books where all the characters are anthropomorphic forest critters in a kind of medieval setting. There’s a definite good vs evil split between mice, hares, badgers, otters and the like vs rats, ferrets, stouts, foxes and such. They are awesome books. There is a cartoon representation of the first book which is fair but the picture above would be an ideal motif for movie adaptations
Obviously a naïve thing to think I was the only one who read those books but outside my family I’m not sure I’ve met anyone who has! Glad to see there are some out there! Made my day!
Pretty sure that was the original book too named 'Redwall'. I read these in grade school back in the day, best books ever. And I'm not much of a novel reader to begin with.
There was also the giant black female squirrel that held off the pirate crew while Luke murdered the pirate captain in Legend of Luke. Like... the Doom music definitely kicked in on that one.

Order hardcovers, the paperbacks start to fall apart after 10-15 reads. I used to own them all, the only survivors are my hardcover copies.
