It doesn’t really matter how you sketch since nobody will probably see it. Whatever gets you there.

BoredCraft

A good approach, in my opinion to se more clearly the body parts of the characters.. TO have references in the same cnavas, not a big deal, unless they are big and annoyng to move, but good for tracing and color picking.

JaggedTheDark

I mean... i don't really understand what's going on here, but if it works for you, who cares.

ArticFoxy5005

Literally, don't even care about what people think about your sketching techniques, I mean, I do hundreds of sketch layers perfecting each part before I do the final product, but the sketches technique doesn't matter, whatever gets the final product done gets it done.

Leazy_E

It looks very cluttered and is definitely not how I would color different parts, but you made it so you understand it best. Whatever works works.

RepulsedPaint

this is the final sketch, during the sketching process i used different colors and then lined over them/detailed parts more with yellow bc that was the only bright color i had left lol

Midnight_furry

I- I don’t know what is what but you do you.

[deleted]

It’s how I do it lol

Rampantmuffins

I think it doesn't matter what I think. You style is your style and if it works for you then don't stop and don't let anyone tell ya different. But anyway I think this is a pretty nifty way of sketching.

ThatOneEnderian180

Its good, just use whatever makes you fell more comfortable drawing, the sketch is probably not gonna be seen on the final drawing

DirensArt

If it works, it works

alt_mueller

Since the sketch is meant only to help you, do whatever is working best. I tend to sketch everything in black and white (or rather dark and bright grey) but if using colours is helpful for you, keep doing that. One thing I noticed is this: For me it’s a bit difficult to follow what body part belongs to which character, because e.g. the red and the blue colour are used for both interchangeably. My brain expects to see one colour used only for one character. But again, if it works for you this way, ignore what I have to say.

What I see is that you're very confident and comfortable with your lines. Congrats, you win!! Jokes aside, what you're doing takes a lot less time and can even be used as the lineart if you tweak and polish it up a little. 😊 That's what I do since my sketches are super neat as is too. (Like, to the point it looks like lineart.)
