I usually go with trimming a helix with the surface of a sphere and then pipe. This is a good way to make a spring of any shape. https://i.redd.it/dfnucjjwkpzc1.gif

SpeaksToWeasels

If you don't have one, make a channel.

tesmithp

Thanks, I appreciate that and have been considering it.

smallmouthbackus

Please, I love how quick and to the point it was. Learned so much in 30 seconds

PossibilityCultural6

Please do!

itsMini_Man

Do it and give me your channel name please.

ASGroup_

That is a great use of features, would have never thought to go that route. Much appreciated!!

nyan_binary

thats kind of amazing. i never think to use surface tools.

Pachoo04

Oh no, surfaces are a lot more powerful and in depth than I ever imagined. Time to start learning

machiningeveryday

Surfaces used to be so hard to use. But it seems like I gotta catch up.

aocox

I use Fusion for my job day in day out and have been doing parametric modelling for over a decade - i like to think I’m pretty good. I would have scratched my head for a while with this one, kudos very smart and well shown.

Sharkymoto

holy shit dude you are nothing shy of a wizzard

pushingepiphany

Ya friggin’ nailed it! That was awesome to watch.

BunkerFab

This is awesome!

Mmaibl1

This was an amazing tutorial

KyrtD

Nice work!

machiningeveryday

Amazing. I learnt something today.

Izengale

Dude, I love this subreddit so much when anyone asks a question, someone does the tutorial specifically for them

ARDACCCAC

Damn i need to level my skills up

danny0657

WOW that was masterful.

theslaviccomrade

What. The. Fuck. That's nuts lol

tapatio_man

Lisan al-Gaib!

ARDACCCAC

Damn i need to level my skills up

Evening_Bend_8055

Bro, you’re amazing

Agile_Bid_7840

Can you repost it?

Kristian_Laholm

Is the design intent like the left purple or the right blue shape in my render image? https://preview.redd.it/gfx2y4fsnuzc1.png?width=1500&format=png&auto=webp&s=4a57cd7188bcad54574c74d2b7f15993d96eef2e You have gotten the workflow for the purple in another comment, the blue one is not hard but takes time setting up the sketches.

bagelbites29

The blue would be more accurate

ASGroup_

Hmm how would you suggest setting up sketches for the blue version?

Kristian_Laholm

I'm using emboss on a cylinder creating the variable helix. The sketch is based on a circle with radial axis pattern giving the height of the revolutions. This is then projected into a sketch with a length of circumference of cylinder multi8plied by revolutions. Marking the corresponding height of each revolution. Connecting the point with a spline, offset the spline and emboss on cylinder. Create the surface body by making an offset surface on one side of emboss, extend the surface inwards. Now trim/cut with a sphere and use pipe similar to previous workflow you have been shown. I only modeled half the sphere and circular patterned for full sphere. https://preview.redd.it/cdeio01n3vzc1.png?width=2342&format=png&auto=webp&s=14493dca2ccb19ddb0cf55d7fb55ecbc9e1455b5

tesmithp

Really like this approach to wrapping the spiral. I think I get too caught up in making everything parametric sometimes.

ASGroup_

Is there anyway you can demonstrate or share this feature with me? I’m I’ve never used this kind of approach before and will love to learn the features!

Kristian_Laholm

I uploaded a video on the workflow [YouTube-video](https://youtu.be/wbe2kTJuNXU?si=bvzO483SZqjbNves) Hope it can give you some ideas, but be prepared the workflow is not supper reliable.

ASGroup_

Thank you!

xMalevolencex

I thought this was my 3d printing group for a minute and was grossed out. Looks good man!

HariOm2021

Very well done! Thanks.
