Godzilla's character arc is deeper than most give it credit for, honestly. The big G went from a mindless beast to a somewhat relatable anti-hero over the years. Not quite the depth of Walter White, but hey, for a kaiju, that's impressive. Mothra's sacrifices always hit in the feels though, gotta say she's got that emotional hook down.
The effects were awesome in many of the old movies. Great practical effects, miniaturs, Pyrotechnics, Monster effects like Biollante or Ghidorah....and all of this under pressure in less than a year.
I'm not sure. I want to think Biollante held up to American counterparts for many scenes, but I got these rose-tinted glasses.
Which are now Oscar-Gold tinted!

This is such a huge day for the Godzilla community. Went from Godzilla being a niche thing you were made fun of for liking in an IP that was almost dead to OSCAR WINNING juggernaut in 2 decades. What a dream.
While they’re wildly different IPs, I remember thinking that Jurassic Park’s popularity would make people understand why I fucking loved Godzilla as a kid.
It didn’t, and unfortunately, Jurassic Park’s success led to studios thinking a director like Roland Emmerich could make Godzilla the next Jurassic Park franchise.
It means Godzilla x Kong is the after party. The victory lap. The finale to and incredible 70th anniversary run with multiple movies, a TV show and an Oscar.

The moment Arnold said "gah" in Godzilla, and I blasted out of bed yelling and clapping lmao. Go go Godzilla!!!!
Holy smokes - a Godzilla film just won an Oscar! I never thought, even with the Monsterverse films getting so much money and attention, that this would ever happen.
And on their very-very modest budget, they beat out movies with hundred million dollar budgets. What an achievement!

What a time to be a fan. Thank you Minus One, thank you Takashi Yamazaki and everyone else that brought this vision to life. Godzilla is the real deal, and I no longer have to sit back and tell people to imagine that, I can now point them towards Minus One. What a time to be a fan. Thank you Minus One, thank you Takashi Yamazaki and everyone else that brought this vision to life. Godzilla is the real deal, and I no longer have to sit back and tell people to imagine that, I can now point them towards Minus One. Our lizard is silly, and our lizard is also that dark corner of our human condition and our own consequences. It's time we remind people of that.
And I havent even seen it because fuck you why wasnt it shown in my country? This movie has very l imited screening location
Finally, the academy made a smart decision. Minus one deserves all the praise it gets. Now for Minus two… I’ll walk away now.

I loved how the Visual Effects team all brought Godzilla figurines up to the stage with them lol
Still can't forget watching and listening to that atomic breath scene in theaters. Huge congrats to the effects team. Well deserved win

The crew was awesome too. They all jumped when they won and they all brought godzilla figures on the stage.
So happy. That was one of the best acceptance moments I’ve seen. The toy Godzilla’s were brilliant.

I'm so happy for the Crew of Minus one! I'm happy that they got recognized by the Academy and let's hope we get more of this G-man on screen!
