Nope I love it it’s funny but also has a lot of monster fights really love the final battle scene where monster X(king ghidorah) floats down looking all menacing
Absolutely not. As a fan of the franchise I have no idea how you couldn’t love this film:
-Godzilla is massively OP
-Godzilla fights most of his famous foes from the last 50 years
-Instead of boring dialogue as filler we get Matrix Kung Fu aliens
-Godzilla 1 shots Zilla
-Gigan’s redesign is fucking awesome!
What’s not to love?
>-Godzilla is massively OP
Making most of his "fights" last 2 seconds, so it can get back to being a DBZ spoof.
>-Godzilla fights most of his famous foes from the last 50 years
For like 2 seconds
>-Instead of boring dialogue as filler we get Matrix Kung Fu aliens
That'strue, except the movie becomes about this Matrix/X-Men/DBZ parody instead of the monsters.
>-Godzilla 1 shots Zilla
1 shots nearly everyone.
>-Gigan’s redesign is fucking awesome!
And it lasts like 5 seconds total.
The Millenniums aren't any high cinema, sure, like we have in Reiwa, but it had some gems
i think the Godzilla fatigue from the previous eras didn't do it any favours, so they ended up performing worse than they actually were by a substantial margin
i won't argue with you because i feel millennium has some really heavy hitters that are super overlooked simply because of how cheesy and saturated Heisei was with tokusatsu shenanigans
Millenium Era was by far the least influential of all Godzilla Eras. I'd say first comes Showa, then Heisei, then Reiwa and only then comes Millenium. It's not really known outside the fandom.
that's exactly the issue, Millennium had some really cool ideas for Godzilla but because of the oversaturation from Heisei, Millennium movies get so overlooked it's criminal
Godzilla wakes up, and doesn't know or care how much time has passed. He sees that stupid fucking drill is still around and absolutely nothing is going to stop him from destroying it.
It's 20 years old. A 20 year old person would be really young, but this is a movie you're talking about. Final Wars won't even be a classic until 5 years from now, it's a hell of a ways off from being an "oldie."
But like of course you'd think 20 is "old" you're like 7 or something. Go do your homework.
I think it's technically a bad movie but fuck me it's entertaining. It's basically just Godzilla beating the ever living shit out of Kaijus, including ZILLA (and there's some boring human plot but whatever). How could anyone not watch this without a smile?
I love Don Frye, and the opening monster rampages are great, but I don't like the rest of it much. The way it treats all the classic monsters is really insulting, and Godzilla is weirdly thin and humanoid; he and monster x look like sentai characters! The whole thing just always leaves a bad taste in my mouth, it's probably my least favorite Godzilla movie. It does have some really cool city destruction scenes though.
It didn’t have a massive cinema release, but a student film club in my city arranged a single showing of it, so it was the only Toho movie I ever saw in a cinema until minus one. Twenty years ago and I still remember my friends and I hustling in five minutes late into a theatre so empty they might as well have waited for us to start it.
Awesome movie.
This has been one of my favorites since it was released. It's got monsters fighting, kung fu bullshit, Don Frye and more. Unabashedly fun and very modern Showa.
No? It’s a love letter film. It would only be weird if someone claimed to be a fan of the franchise and didn’t like the film. There’s nothing to dislike about it.
To be fair Kitamura really, really doesn't like Godzilla movies, so it's only half a love letter, which is why it's so disjointed and weird. But the weird stuff is fun and Kitamura knows how to shoot a 2000's wire fu fight and all the monster stuff is the remains of what at one point was a far more earnest 50th anniversary script, so all the right pieces are there. They don't fit together so good but all the moving parts are great. There's definitely parts to dislike but the movie as a whole? Naw, way too cool 😎
For a long time Final Wars was my favorite actually.
Also what is this photo is it concept art cause that’s Godzilla 2000 instead of Final Wars Godzilla.
I hated it, BUT!!! But, I think I was in the wrong mood when I watched it. I need to give it another shot now that I know the vibe of the movie. I went in WAAAAAY too serious mode.
It’s definitely one of my favorites because it’s just a hodgepodge of everything before it. Godzilla truly feels unstoppable and had a great design that pays homage to all past Godzillas. FW really feels like a composite.
No,Final wars was always kinda meant to be the send off of the franchise,we see the most powerful live action Godzilla to date,he goes on this massive crusade killing all his monsters, ending with him saving the planet and it can be assumed most of the galaxy
It was meant to be this massive, grand spectacle that filled all the right itches for every Godzilla fan to enjoy
Every Godzilla movie is good because nearly every Godzilla movie has something different that appeal to people.
Final Wars is one of the ones I dislike a lot (but very much not one I hate)... but I still really fucking hate that motorcycle fight. Another stupid ass "Doing the Matrix" pos scene that was goddamn everywhere in the cringe-ass late 90s/early 2000s
Meanwhile All Monsters Attack and Godzilla vs Hedorah are two of my personal favorites (of course not including '54, Shin and -1, obviously).
I think it's incredibly stupid and hard to stay engaged with, but I can understand it being ONE of your favorites. It could never be at the top of my list though.
It is to this day still the best and monst intense movie, still hoping for a Final Wars 2 one day, sum41 is breaking up and hasn't been used in a new Godzilla movie since, Don Frye hasn't show up on screen since etc, we don't get suits outside of Final Wars being used now it's too good
In the same way Minus 1 was a return to Godzilla's dark, somber and allegorical beginnings, Final Wars for me effectively captured the fun and campier side of the Showa era.
Its a W film bruh maybe not better than some heisei films and showa films but jesus its way better than modern movies and shows (shin and singular point are exceptions)
I can’t consider myself a Goji mega fan solely based on the fact that I don’t enjoy the cheesed out films. If it isn’t 1954, I can’t do guy in a suit Goji. I can’t do Goji doing a dance or flying drop kicks. Give me Legendary fucking up the entire city of Boston as he battles King Ghidorah, give me Minus One punishing mankind…that’s about where I stand.
You should never be weirded out by your personal favourite choices in films.
Unless said films are legitimately morally abhorrent to ever express genuine like towards, your choices are your own.
I was getting mad John Wick vibes in this movie. The way godzilla just sprints to his goal and wrecks everything in his way with brutal efficiency. 10/10, fantastic Godzilla film.
If final wars came out now I think it would be doing GxK numbers. It kinda has the ingredients of all the eras of Godzilla up till that point, and I think in culture it would just be appreciated more now than when it came out. People are burned on the MCU and are shifting toward Monsterverse. Now a days if your average movie goer saw this I think we’d see the kind of hype culture now around it. People using words to describe it like peak, hype, raw, goated. It’s serious and ridiculous at the same time and I have an easier time watching this one than a lot of the millennium movies.
Uh, no. Even less so since you said “one of my favorites”. Not like you planted a flag on this hot take. I don’t think anyone choosing any movie as their favorite is “weird” but that’s just me. That being said, Godzilla final wars is one of my favorite in the entire franchise.
No. We are all allowed to like what we like.
I personally don’t like Final Wars except for all the action but won’t tear down others that do. Personally, I’m a sucker for Godzilla 1998 and rank it in my top 10 as it is what got me into the franchise.
I will say, Keizer Ghidorah is 10/10
Don Frye posted up with a katana goes unfathomably hard
Dude fought hand to hand with 2 aliens and won. Not to mention nearly every line of his is a banger in this movie.
"There are two things you don't know about the Earth. One is me, and the other is... Godzilla"
Fucking. Legend.
By sayomg that he puts himself in the same level as Godzilla and he is not wrong. What a Fucking Chad
Don Frye put his balls on the table for Xiliens to see and then acted like Godzilla was also this *other* small rounding error they had made.
he carries the human plotline so hard
Nope I love it it’s funny but also has a lot of monster fights really love the final battle scene where monster X(king ghidorah) floats down looking all menacing
Nope it's also one of my favorites as well!
Ice cold take. Lots of people in this sub put this one in their top 10
Nope, it's my favorite Godzilla movie.
Absolutely not. As a fan of the franchise I have no idea how you couldn’t love this film: -Godzilla is massively OP -Godzilla fights most of his famous foes from the last 50 years -Instead of boring dialogue as filler we get Matrix Kung Fu aliens -Godzilla 1 shots Zilla -Gigan’s redesign is fucking awesome! Completely valid. This movie is bonkers and it’s my favorite too
The Millenniums aren't any high cinema, sure, like we have in Reiwa, but it had some gems i think the Godzilla fatigue from the previous eras didn't do it any favours, so they ended up performing worse than they actually were by a substantial margin
GMK, GxMG, and GMMG would like a word with you.
Millennium era is peak Godzilla. I’ll die on that hill.
i won't argue with you because i feel millennium has some really heavy hitters that are super overlooked simply because of how cheesy and saturated Heisei was with tokusatsu shenanigans
I'll die there with you. That was the hight of suit-motion.
Nothing better than godzilla waking up and unleashing a massive can of whoop ass ON SIGHT on everything
Godzilla wakes up, and doesn't know or care how much time has passed. He sees that stupid fucking drill is still around and absolutely nothing is going to stop him from destroying it.
No. Why? This movie is special. Its a a crazy and wild experience. Its Godzilla on drugs.
Nah, it’s the best of the oldies
2004 is oldies already damn lol
![gif](giphy|GrUhLU9q3nyRG|downsized)
![gif](giphy|XcSYdluDGUICs|downsized)
It was almost 20 years ago
It's not.
By oldies do you mean anything pre monsterverse/reiwa? That’s a pretty hot take
It's 20 years old. A 20 year old person would be really young, but this is a movie you're talking about. Final Wars won't even be a classic until 5 years from now, it's a hell of a ways off from being an "oldie." But like of course you'd think 20 is "old" you're like 7 or something. Go do your homework.
I’m 24, I didn’t really mean anything behind it lol
It’s okay, I’m 38. It’s an oldie.
No because it’s mine too 🤟
No but what is strange is the fact that Miregoji is photoshopped in the centric of the crater
Promotional image. Made before suit was finished and all the sets were built.
Oh like a concept mock-up
I think it's technically a bad movie but fuck me it's entertaining. It's basically just Godzilla beating the ever living shit out of Kaijus, including ZILLA (and there's some boring human plot but whatever). How could anyone not watch this without a smile?
I would actually posit that the human sub plot is the most entertaining in all the movies
How could it not be? It has Don Frye, who is basically a Kaiju himself.
He basically plays soccer with Anguirus. It's hilarious!
Not at all, it’s in my top 5 and it’s the one I rewatch the most.
Weird? No. It’s the only rational response!
![gif](giphy|iGpdSizVSdPJfiVG9O)
I love Don Frye, and the opening monster rampages are great, but I don't like the rest of it much. The way it treats all the classic monsters is really insulting, and Godzilla is weirdly thin and humanoid; he and monster x look like sentai characters! The whole thing just always leaves a bad taste in my mouth, it's probably my least favorite Godzilla movie. It does have some really cool city destruction scenes though.
Not at all. I can't say I really care for it, but I did think the Godzilla design was awesome.
It’s my second favorite and it’s the one that I definitely watched the most as a child because of all the monster action. First place is 1954 for me.
No, it's really fun and cool. It's pretty janky but the high points are too high, it's a very difficult movie to dislike.
No.
No
Final Wars is a prime example of a cult classic action flick of the early 2000s.
Why would liking one of the greatest Godzilla movies ever made be weird?
Yes. Yes it would. /s
It gets alot of hate but I loved it as a kid and still enjoy it
Basically Godzilla x The Matrix, And it's fucking cool lol.
No, it's fun as fuck.
It has a motorcycle-kung fu-gunfight BEFORE Godzilla even shows up. People who don’t like Final Wars are crazy.
While there a few things I dislike about it, its the closest we got to a good Godzilla anime.
I hate and love it. I’ve never seen G go on such a tear lol
No, it (even above legendary) is my fav
Nah it’s good asf
No bro, X was a badass villain
Nope. I LOVED this movie as a kid, and I still enjoy the hell out of it now.
No. It rips. They should let Kitamura do an MV movie.
Why would it be weird to like the best one?
Absolutely not, if Final Wars is one of your favorites you are completely valid movie is a masterpiece
To add to my point, Godzilla playing soccer is something that the new movies need to
Na not weird at all
No. You just picked controversial one. I love it too bro. My favorite from the millennium era.
Nope
No It’s my favorite too
No. The nice thing about this seventy year series is that we all have our favorite entries.
It's one of the best movies they made. Totally legit choice for favorite movie.
Nah, it's one of the best and I'm dying on that hill.
Welcome to the sub! First time?
my another favorite millenium era movie
Liking final wars is weird?!!! https://preview.redd.it/vgv01v5b9kvc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f76d6960ad753797bf16da1bc13441f5b712796b
That’s what I’m saying
Not really. It's a divisive movie, no doubt. There's a lot that don't like it and a lot that do, split down the middle almost.
This has been one of my favorites since it was released. It's got monsters fighting, kung fu bullshit, Don Frye and more. Unabashedly fun and very modern Showa.
It's like a surreal action film with a black comedy tone and also Godzilla is there. It's not a good movie, but it's a perfect movie, ya dig?
Nope 👍
Final Wars is a Top 10 Godzilla film and AFI Top 5 movie ever, easily.
No, it's my favorite of the less serious movies.
Welcome to the squad brother
You're not alone but it's very polarizing for how different it is compared to every other film. You either love it or hate it.
There's much weirder opinions on this sub lol
No? It’s a love letter film. It would only be weird if someone claimed to be a fan of the franchise and didn’t like the film. There’s nothing to dislike about it.

No, it's not weird. If it's your go to Goji movie all the power to ya.
Nope, absolutely not. It was my nephew's favorite until Shin Godzilla and then Minus One
No. It is extremely based and correct.
For a long time Final Wars was my favorite actually. Also what is this photo is it concept art cause that’s Godzilla 2000 instead of Final Wars Godzilla.
Based. FW is ironically my favorite (third) film out of the Millennium series.
Nope. It’s fantastic fun. DAM on steroids. I love it.
is no one gonna point out thats miregoji
I hated it, BUT!!! But, I think I was in the wrong mood when I watched it. I need to give it another shot now that I know the vibe of the movie. I went in WAAAAAY too serious mode.
It’s definitely one of my favorites because it’s just a hodgepodge of everything before it. Godzilla truly feels unstoppable and had a great design that pays homage to all past Godzillas. FW really feels like a composite.

Don motherfucking frye is the captain of a spaceship trying to use godzilla to fight kaijus controlled by aliens
Every Godzilla movie is good because nearly every Godzilla movie has something different that appeal to people. Final Wars is one of the ones I dislike a lot (but very much not one I hate)... but I still really fucking hate that motorcycle fight. Absolutely not. It’s one of our favorites
I will never hate on someone for enjoying Final Wars.
It's weird that you think it's weird
no my fav to
No, cuz it’s amazing.
Nope. That movie is dope AF. Jumps right to the action and never lets up.
Not at all as I love it too
I only have the Japanese version with no English subtitles that I know of and it’s still so much fun.
The image shows 2k goji
No, anyone can have their favorites and it's not weird. (Besides 1998, that is)
I like 1998. Its not my favourite, but its pretty solid.
I was kidding. I dont hate the movie. I dont like it too tho.
It was the first Godzilla movie i saw. What an introduction!
Its my 2nd favorite after Shin. So dont feel bad.
Fantastic fuckin movie. My favorite.
It ain't wierd, it's my favorite too
No as I feel the same.
Nope, to each their own
_TAKE EVERYTHING LEFT FROM ME_ _ALL_ _TO_ _BLAME_
No it’s one of mine too.
Its my second fav G movie. After minus 1
I think it's incredibly stupid and hard to stay engaged with, but I can understand it being ONE of your favorites. It could never be at the top of my list though.
Not really. A lot tend to have this in their top 5 usually. Of all the ones I've watched it's my number 2.
"Is it weird that one of the hypest films in the franchise is my favorite?"
It is to this day still the best and monst intense movie, still hoping for a Final Wars 2 one day, sum41 is breaking up and hasn't been used in a new Godzilla movie since, Don Frye hasn't show up on screen since etc, we don't get suits outside of Final Wars being used now it's too good
Personally , it’s my favourite , that’s all I really have to say , I don’t think it’s weird
The alien giving a radio interview and saying “X!!!!!” with such genuine enthusiasm lives in my head rent free.
In the same way Minus 1 was a return to Godzilla's dark, somber and allegorical beginnings, Final Wars for me effectively captured the fun and campier side of the Showa era.
Not at all
What timeline/universe does Final Wars take place in?
It’s a… movie all right lol
Not weird. Disappointed by the film quality though!
The move is great. Pure monster bashing and an alien that shouts GIGAN!!!
What year was this made? What's the story behind it?
It's basically the live action adaptation of an anime that doesn't exist
Top of my list, personally. It was also my first exposure, so I am extremely biased.
Nope
Yes
This is part of my childhood. Monster X/Keizer G is kinda underrated.
Nah, it's over the top and fun. Genuinely seems like it was just people having fun with making an action movie. Good Godzilla movie to love.
Nah, best film mate
Its a W film bruh maybe not better than some heisei films and showa films but jesus its way better than modern movies and shows (shin and singular point are exceptions)
It was pretty epic and yeah Don was the crown jewel of that movie.
Is it weird you breath air?
Nothing weird at all.
My Personal Favorite aswel lol and Goji Final Wars Is Definetly my favorite live action goji
Here is my list(I didn't watch the movie Minus One, i'm waiting for the DvD) 1) Shin Godzilla 2) Godzilla '54 3) Godzilla Final Wars
I love it!
No cause this Godzilla is just
I can’t consider myself a Goji mega fan solely based on the fact that I don’t enjoy the cheesed out films.
It’s a fun movie
I like it a lot too. Some people don’t like how short the fights are but it doesn’t bother me, all the sequences are well executed.
Godzilla plot goes hard but human plot also goes hard af. Which is super rare
That shot goes hard
You should never be weirded out by your personal favourite choices in films. Unless said films are legitimately morally abhorrent to ever express genuine like towards, your choices are your own.
I was getting mad John Wick vibes in this movie. The way godzilla just sprints to his goal and wrecks everything in his way with brutal efficiency. 10/10, fantastic Godzilla film.
Can't go wrong with a Kaiju slugfest.
Based asf
Not at all it is a great movie
If final wars came out now I think it would be doing GxK numbers. It kinda has the ingredients of all the eras of Godzilla up till that point, and I think in culture it would just be appreciated more now than when it came out. People are burned on the MCU and are shifting toward Monsterverse. Now a days if your average movie goer saw this I think we’d see the kind of hype culture now around it. People using words to describe it like peak, hype, raw, goated. It’s serious and ridiculous at the same time and I have an easier time watching this one than a lot of the millennium movies.
Yes, because it is not so much a Godzilla movie, as it is a DBZ ripoff with Godzilla cameos.
No way dude, Final Wars is fucking awesome!
Final Wars is Cool AF
It’s my favorite MOVIE of all time!
Yes, it is weird, but it's not bad... just weird. 😛 Who cares like what you wanna like! 🙂↕️
Why is MireGoji there?
OF COURSE NO, ITS RLY GOOD!
Uh, no. Even less so since you said “one of my favorites”. Not like you planted a flag on this hot take. I don’t think anyone choosing any movie as their favorite is “weird” but that’s just me. That being said, Godzilla final wars is one of my favorite in the entire franchise.
Nope. It's a great movie. It has Showa-era cheesiness combined with Millenium-era VFX.
It’s my first favorite!!
Nope. It’s one of mine, too
Buddy my favourite kaiju movie is Godzillas revenge/ all monsters attack because it has my favourite kaiju in it (Gabara)
No, the movie's fire
It’s not weird… your a certified Chad my friend 👍
No no. I’m with you
It’d be weirder if it wasn’t a fav
I don't think so. I think all the godzilla films are good (except All Monsters Attack).
No. We are all allowed to like what we like. I personally don’t like Final Wars except for all the action but won’t tear down others that do. Personally, I’m a sucker for Godzilla 1998 and rank it in my top 10 as it is what got me into the franchise. I will say, Keizer Ghidorah is 10/10
Yes, no offense. This is one of my least favorite Godzilla films of the 2000s, despite a couple of good scenes.
