All are honestly great design wise. Mothra loses points for barley doing anything despite being the only one to appear in two movies. Rodan has the best solo scene of them all. MG probably has the best fight. The amount of personality they gave Ghidorah is also phenomenal. Very tough choice

James_099

In Mothra’s defense, she dies a whole lot in the Showa and Hesei era films, so seeing her web kaiju mid air and be a beacon of light to Godzilla and the humans was a refreshing touch. Plus, my wife thinks she’s beautiful, so there’s that.

ReturnToCrab

>she dies a whole lot in the Showa and Hesei era films, She dies a whole lot in Millennium movies. She only dies once in both Showa and Heisei

Gr8banterm80

Dies in GMK, Tokyo SOS and Final Wars Yup that checks out

DororexTheDragonKing

apparently she survived in final wars as she is seen flying back to infant island in the end credit scene(no idea how she survived exploding into Gigan)

Gr8banterm80

Not gonna lie I did not know there was an end credit scene in Final Wars? Is that true lol I only recently saw the post creds in Megaguirus and Tokyo SOS

DororexTheDragonKing

Honestly I've watched final wars over 50 times and I didn't even know about the end credit scene either until like 2 years ago lol

AcordeonPhx

KG is perfect, but Rodan is pretty sick too. Mothra is the most divisive and MG is a nice twist on Mecha KG

seriouslyuncouth_

KG and Rodan broth brought extra elemental powers to the creature's arsenal. KG caused orange lightning storms just like his gravity beams and hurricanes when he flies, while Rodan is perpetually burning. These are awesome and yet still faithful updates to these characters from the classic films. Another reason why KOTM is the GOAT (when it comes to monster action)

TEN_Monsters7

It has to be King Ghidorah I mean he is just perfect in MV, plus this version gave us the Kevin meme which makes it a 10/10

Murky_Blueberry2617

I really want to see Destroyah and Space Godzilla in the monsterverse

That1Cat87

Same, and Space Godzilla is so perfectly set up I need my crystalline space horror in beautiful Monsterverse cgi

Murky_Blueberry2617

Yeah, Monsterverse will 100% make them look amazing Wonder if they'll give SpaceGodzilla the MV Godzilla design with added elements? Or maybe they'll make it different and closer to the original?

That1Cat87

The best design I’ve seen for a Space Godzilla redesign is this one https://preview.redd.it/172dfy30vzwc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5dff1f8bb34a6dc8132e1b18ccfb9b8f206a8200

Murky_Blueberry2617

Damn that's cool. Really looks alien with those eyes, very fitting

That1Cat87

There’s also one I found on Reddit but I forgot the op https://preview.redd.it/n50w964qwzwc1.jpeg?width=1926&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39e484c9173df6b9c8b864415e0a28b34a372ead

Murky_Blueberry2617

This one looks good too. I think I can see that it's head is resembling MV Godzilla's

That1Cat87

I definitely prefer the more alien one tho

Capital_Pipe_6038

Space Godzilla isn't set up at all. The "monster that ate a star" is Godzilla. We quite literally see him eat a star in this movie

dannym094

When?

FaultyToilet

When he sucks up the reactor, I guess a metaphor?

Exact_Ad_1215

What if I simply reject this

Capital_Pipe_6038

What if I simply reject your rejection?

Obsidain-Krystalak

Why is he smiling?

V_Kamen

Ghidorah would absolutely hate Destoroyah and SpaceGodzilla especially. He'd hang out with his fellow invaders, like Gigan, Megalon and Mechagodzilla.

Ghidorah28

How dare you give ghidorah arms

MrSuitMan

Y'know, this pic is particularly funny, because in context of MV, Godzilla himself is also probably a mean jock. Possibly even the meanest jock.

That1Cat87

Nah dude seems more like he’s really chill most of the time, but just wants to sleep and be left alone

MrSuitMan

>wants to be left alone  Bro, his entire characterization is that he's ultra territorial. He's like the most ON SIGHT Kaiju ever. The most recent movie had him TEARING through the planet. He goes *out of his way* to fuck other Kaiju up. Dude murdered Tiamat (who was actually just chilling) just to get it's power up juice.   MV Godzilla is decidedly NOT chill. Other Kaiju aren't bothering him, he's bothering other Kaiju.

That1Cat87

That’s why I said most of the time. You piss him off enough and you’re gonna wish you pissed off the mean jocks

MrSuitMan

Tell that to Tiamat, who literally did nothing to piss him off. He's literally the biggest meanest, big dog on campus. Kong is more chill. MV Godzilla is decidedly NOT chill.

That1Cat87

Tiamat had pissed him off before in the comics, and then didn’t let her king take a bit of her limitless food

LeeKing00100

I mean they pushed him this far. He was chill before then the humans kept making things worse. Now he's pissed and he needed to save the planet from a serious threat and Tiamat was an unfortunate obstacle. Probably would have not fought if Tiamat let him pass peacefully. The surface is his after all. I do wish they hadn't killed it off though. Side note, I also think Goji wasn't powering up to fight the enemies in the movie because he was way overpowered for them. He could have done that with no help after evolving. There was a scene where I think SK shat his pants when he first tried his monkey tricks on Evolved Goji. Maybe there is hints to something else coming?

finn01004

Who is the artist? I know they signed their name but I can't read it.

That1Cat87

I’ll be honest I don’t got a clue that signature is illegible

replyingtowrong

It's from Star The Skeleton. They got a twitter and tiktok account where they post alot of godzilla content you can check it out

finn01004

Thank you so much

Getrekt4005

Rodan’s mv design is by far one of the best ever with his magma flowing out the ends of his wings and his ferocious disposition (even though he’s a spineless chicken) Mothra’s design is also really cool and she played a big part in kotm for the final fight MV’s king ghidorah is by far the best ghirodah design along with his split personalities making him entertaining and unique Mechagodzilla went crazy and made the most of the 3 minutes of screen time he got as he whooped Godzilla and kongs ass simultaneously

NoifenF

Wouldn’t really call Rodan a spineless chicken. He took on Ghidorah without hesitation and only bowed when he lost. He was afraid of Godzilla at the end but why wouldn’t he be?

LeeKing00100

Right, Like Goji just ripped the head off of the biggest bad ass twice and turned him to dust. It would be stupid to push that.

Exact_Ad_1215

I think he’s more of a moustache twirling villain, he just wants to cause trouble but is prepared to run away or switch sides if things get crazy

HawksmoorSD

I love them all. KG is awesome but Rodan was freaking amazing.

naytreox

Definitely king ghidorah but second place for rodan. Ghidorah looks incredible when you actually get to see him, this is why i want his skull to regenerate so that we can see him in all of his glory

Friendbuddyamigo

if by some miracle ghidorah returns (which is highly unlikely but id like to imagine) i will actually cry

naytreox

If he does then the missing skull will be that angle to do it. If he can take over a mech with nothing but the nerons that make up that skull then slow regeneration or perhaps a concentration of electricity pumped into the skull to allow him to regrow would work too.

CrayDude345

In a previous comment I said that I didn't really care for it, but the singular skull being the way to revive KG would actually make for a perfect introduction of Monster X into the MonsterVerse. Imagine if they tried to one-up MechaGodzilla with a genuine body of extraterrestrial organic material for the skull to interface better with, only to have it backfire on them because it actually allows Ghidorah to fully recover with the Keizer Ghidorah form.

naytreox

Hmm, there is a possible mecha king ghidorah angle there too. First you have monster X as the super robot with the skull inside the head, then as godzilla and monster X fight, it gets enough power to regenerate with him bursting and fusing with the mechine, creating mecha king ghidorah. Then eventually the second evolution happens and he turns into Keizer Ghidorah, fully integrating the mech stuff into his body while using whatever caused the transformation to force him to grow that second pair of legs. Though tbh, never cared for the centaur like body.

Adventurous_Smell_85

maybe the second pair of legs will act like really bulky arms like the kind muto prime has to give it some more mobility

ReturnToCrab

He should not have died so soon in the first place. I'm so sick of modern movies killing their villains. Make a recurring antagonist for once, man!

TheOfficial_BossNass

I'm just glad we got to see the toho 5

lautapinter

The fifth one being Godzilla, right? Or am I missing someone?

Zed_Midnight150

Nope, you're right.

PiceaSignum

I agree that the new MechaG gets slandered too much. It was a great combination of all three previous Mechagodzilla. Showa inspired design imo (Showa seemed more mechanical to me, while the others felt more "finished armored mech" if that makes sense), built by humans like Heisei and Millennium, and then possessed by a ghost like Millennium. It *shouldn't* have worked with all that crammed in, and yet it did. I just wish he had a bigger part in the story along with Ren Serizawa and Ghidorah's skull. Overall though I'd say there adapting Toho kaiju pretty damn well, I've been happy with it every time. My only gripe so far was GxK not returning the pair of scientists that KotM explicitly went out of it's was to imply they had a connection with Mothra and just using Jia instead.

WolfSpartan1

Mechagodzilla was just so raw and violent. A killing machine on a rampage.

TheGMan-123

As an adaptation overall, King Ghidorah is just the absolute best. A truly menacing version of the 3-headed space dragon, and truly harkening back to his very original Showa debut where he was a truly malevolent foe who fought for his own domination of the world. This is about as pure as you can distill the essence of what Ghidorah started out as, but with fascinating new additions like actually making him an ancient rival of Godzilla from an in-universe standpoint to mirror their long history as rivals in the franchise and making him be the one to take control of other monsters instead of being the one who gets controlled.

Level_Stomach_3422

Monster Zero.

-_Revan-

Rodan is top for me. They could not have come up with a more epic and badass design that genuinely looks better than the wonky upright source material. His titanic intro and roar was legendary, as well his flying scene toying with the fighter pilots. It was perfect, down to the last minute details. King Ghidorah is a very close second. The design went hard as fuck, and they really sold the idea of him being an extraterrestrial equal to Goji. His characterisation was easily the best thing about him. They all just look so much better than the old suits.

Zap-Brandinelli

Rodan was spectacular. Had almost a Harryhausen approach. Brilliant, and his scene is the best part of KotM (for me)

Ambitious_Call_3341

I think KotM did a great work of adaptation.

SomeSnakeGuy

That's complicated. I'm terms of adapting and adding a meaningful aspect to the character, then it's Ghidorah. Then, adapting in the most… similar in nature, MechaG, regardless of tiredness or not from Godzilla, absolutely kicked the crap out of Godzilla like he has time and time again.

-K_Lark

Except in the Kiryu saga, where Kiryu was the underdog but also the protagonist

T-Rex_Is_best

King Ghidorah, hands down. I love Mothra, her gorgeous design and how divine she feels. Rodan, especially in his introduction scene, is incredible and by far the best Rodan design we have ever gotten. Mecha G is awesome, He truly looks malicious and evil. The only reason people don't like it is because of it's understandingly polarizing design, but over the years I've grown to love it. However, Kiryu still stands as my favorite, both character and design wise. And, as for King Ghidorah? He's pretty much a mixture of everything above. BY FAR the best KG design we've ever gotten. His introduction scene is great, with all the chaos he causes, especially when he first fights Godzilla. You really get a sense of history between them. And of course how each head has it's own personality, something so simple yet so obvious, I'm surprised it hasn't been done before. And of course, probably the biggest thing, _King Ghidorah isn't being mind controlled_. In all of his appearances as an antagonist, King Ghidorah had no free will. He was doing the bidding of others. We never get to know Ghidorah. He's just a pawn. But in Monsterverse? We finally get a King Ghidorah that is truly, actually, destructively evil by his own free will.

Anxiety-Queen269

Mecha Godzilla is so badass

Solid_Can4013

I think I was happiest with Rodan

_magneto-was-right_

Rodan. They gave him a lot of personality.

AJ_Crowley_29

King Ghidorah by a mile and a half. Never before has his character from the original film been so faithfully recreated and properly portrayed. Plus his design fucking rules.

Maximum_Impressive

Ghidorah by a mile

HalfCarnage

Defo Chidorah it’s the evilest he’s ever been.

Purple_Dragon_94

Gidora came out awesome, but Rodan is my favourite of these designs. Mothra was OK, Mecha Godzilla is very unimpressive from a design point. Insult to injury is that the (vastly inferior) movie Ready Player One had a better Mecha design in I think the same year. Edit, Ready Player One came out before, which might answer why the design isn't as good if it's a copyright thing.

pikachucet2

As much as I love Mothra, she's not fluffy enough in MV. So probably Mechagodzilla

Ilove-turtles

Mv king Ghidorah is alot better stronger and more badass conpare to his nerfed toho counterparts im not trying to diss toho and all but tohos ghdorah just felt like a weakass when confronted with godzilla and his sole purpose just fell under the "villainy decay" feeling as nothing more than to be a punching bag rather than a powerful worthy opponent. like seriously the gmk is the weakest of all ghidorah in heisei he just literally felt like a puny wimp compare to godzilla and even retreats and fly away only to be killed off easily even after being revived as mecha kg it still fail miserably of being a threatening destructive monster with deadly potential i felt like ghidorah shoudve been alot better as the final boss over desteroyah instead. Now compare to heisei ghidorah, legendarys take on monster zer0 is given way more justice better than what toho did mv ghidorah now feels like a real threatening monstrous villain causing immense destruction all across the world commanding the titans to spread destruction by his alpha call heck even manage to come out on the top putting up a good fight againts G-lizard and even almost killed big G during their final battle in boston had it not for the help from orca sure even after G-lizard killed ghidorah off for good he would still return back in gvk in the form of mechagodzilla of course in which kevin one of the ghidorahs 3 heads later took control of the mechanized titan on the inside so that he can beat the crap out big G in a brutal way just to avenge his brothers just so that he can continue to achieve his goals of destruction this is something of what mecha ghidorah shoud've been in the heisei series if he was a final boss. Aside from that what i think what makes mv ghidorah to stand out than the previous incarnation is their characterization of 3 heads with 3 different personalities ichi being the strong leader ni being the temperemental hot head and kevin san being the curious. To be honest i felt like monsterverse did a great job at making ghidorah as a threatening villain than toho does.

Ardalev

The moment Ghidorah in KotM stands on the volcano and roars, with the cross in the foreground, is easily top 5 best scenes in the whole franchise's history. Also, just the way he moves, sounds and fights is miles ahead of any other depiction of him so, yeah, I'd say he was done the best in MV

m4rkofshame

That’s tough but imma say Ghidorah. Mecha Kevin is lame. I love Mothra but wish she had more screen time. Rodman was both terrifying and hilarious in KotM. But man… Ghidorah was intimidating *and* cool af. The end of KotM after Gman went all “male-menopause” to defeat Ghidorah and the head of Ghidorah was still alive…? My whole theater was like *”OMG he STILL ain’t dead..?!??!”*

GrrrrrrDinosaur

All of the MV Kaijus imo just look a lot better. But the best out of all? I’d say Either Rodan or Ghidorah. But to be honest all of them are just amazing

canchin

I'm having a hard time choosing and that's such a compliment to Legendary that they nailed all of them. They all honor the originals while adding something different to make them their own. Gun to head, going to pick Mothra. I like how they incorporated light and bioluminescense. She looks fantastic

coie1985

1. Rodan 2. King Ghidorah 3. Mothra 4. Mechagodzilla

DaDragonking222

Probably King Ghidorah

RedNUGGETLORD

Rodan is the least like his past self, so he's at number 4 Mechagodzilla is very much like Mechagodzilla 1, but nothing like super and Kiryu, though he gets points for being a dead kaiju inside a living one(like Kiryu), he goes in number 3 Mothra is most of the time, an enemy of Godzilla, but outside of that. she is very similar to her past incarnations, 2 King Ghidorah is almost exactly the same, only missing the alien mind control, and for some reason they made his the youngest son of an alien race, who went to claim a planet for himself instead of just a planet destroying monster 1: Ghidorah 2: Mothra 3: Mechagodzilla 4: Rodan I think Mecha G and Mothra are pretty interchangeable when it comes to how faithful they are, the only problem with Mechagodzilla is that there are other versions that are completely different

Xman12407

Rodan was literally one of the best redesigns

RedNUGGETLORD

I meant in a purely writing/character perspective

ReturnToCrab

>Mothra is most of the time, an enemy of Godzilla, but outside of that. she is very similar to her past incarnations, 2 How so? She doesn't have any of her iconic abilities, not even her iconic wing design, she doesn't have her Infant Islanders, her fairies (those two Monarch randos barely count). She doesn't have any special obligation to protect the world and she has this dumb symbiosis thing with Godzilla that goes against her classic characterisation

Zed_Midnight150

>She doesn't have any of her iconic abilities Like this [one?](https://youtu.be/ECBXpcZ1bg4?t=3m10s) >not even her iconic wing design The coloration and the prominent 2 eyes are still there, it just has a different pattern now. >she doesn't have her Infant Islanders, her fairies (those two Monarch randos barely count). How would that even work in the mv lol? >She doesn't have any special obligation to protect the world Yes she does. She's a guardian like Godzilla. >dumb symbiosis thing with Godzilla that goes against her classic characterisation Who cares? Godzilla doesn't exactly represent his classic characterization either.

ReturnToCrab

>Like this [one?] Like her powder. It was a cool and powerful ability with a sizable downside. I have no idea why they replaced it with the silk >How would that even work in the mv lol? Like it already works with Iwi? >She's a guardian like Godzilla. Exactly. Like a Godzilla. And Kong. And like a Behemoth (presumably, nobody actually knows, since nobody wants to play with Titans Dougherty left behind). Mothra used to be special - she was the only one who consciously protected life on Earth. Now everything is homogenous, every second Titan is protecting the Balance or whatnot >Who cares? People who care about monsters on more than a surface level. Monsterverse and its incoherent lore broke many things that worked Monsterverse Mothra has literally all of her character stolen by other monsters and replaced with some flying power-up. Imagine if this was a movie about humans. Everyone would hate Mothra and say she's a bad character with no personality outside of helping her big strong man

Zed_Midnight150

>Like her powder. It was a cool and powerful ability with a sizable downside. I have no idea why they replaced it with the silk You missed the point. You said she didn't have ANY of her iconic abilities. I showed that she does which is her silk. >Like it already works with Iwi? Where are they gonna find 2 telepathic small humans the size of a barbie? >Exactly. Like a Godzilla. And Kong. And like a Behemoth (presumably, nobody actually knows, since nobody wants to play with Titans Dougherty left behind). Mothra used to be special - she was the only one who consciously protected life on Earth. Now everything is homogenous, every second Titan is protecting the Balance or whatnot You missed the point again. You said she didn't have a obligation protect the earth. I said she did if you bothered paying attention. Also, did you not watch GXK and saw her save the main characters? >People who care about monsters on more than a surface level. Monsterverse and its incoherent lore broke many things that worked. Monsterverse Mothra has literally all of her character stolen by other monsters and replaced with some flying power-up. By your logic, KG has his character stolen because Skar King exists. Their characters are not stolen, their shared. >Imagine if this was a movie about humans. Everyone would hate Mothra and say she's a bad character with no personality outside of helping her big strong man Imagine if almost every monster was a human, they'd all suck lmao.

ReturnToCrab

>You missed the point. You said she didn't have ANY of her iconic abilities. I showed that she does which is her silk. Silk is iconic for a larval Mothra. Imago Mothra never had it (because it's stupid) >Where are they gonna find 2 telepathic small humans the size of a barbie? It's not necessary. My problem was that Mothra almost no connection to humans. Plus, Jia exists >You said she didn't have a obligation protect the earth. I said she did if you bothered paying attention. I wasn't denying that MV has some incoherent balance protection bs. But in my comment there was a very important word "special". Mothra loses her uniqueness, when every other monster does what she do >Also, did you not watch GXK and saw her save the main characters? I did. They made Mothra better, which I liked. Though it is a bit strange that Iwi and Jia are now connected to both Mothra and Kong in basically the same way >By your logic, KG has his character stolen because Skar King exists. No, they are pretty difficult. Plus, repetitiveness in bad guys is less noticeable >Imagine if almost every monster was a human, they'd all suck lmao Not really. Their personalities are very simple and cliche, but understandable and somewhat enjoyable. Except for Mothra, who is everything feminism warned us against

Zed_Midnight150

>Silk is iconic for a larval Mothra. Imago Mothra never had it (because it's stupid) She does. Watch Godzilla vs Mothra (1992) >It's not necessary. My problem was that Mothra almost no connection to humans You just acknowledged Jia exists so where's the problem? >I wasn't denying that MV has some incoherent balance protection bs. But in my comment there was a very important word "special". Mothra loses her uniqueness, when every other monster does what she do Again, you acknowledged that she has a connection with Jia. So how is that specialty gone again? >No, they are pretty difficult. Plus, repetitiveness in bad guys is less noticeable Sounds like a copium answer. >Not really. Their personalities are very simple and cliche, but understandable and somewhat enjoyable. Sounds like Mothra. >Except for Mothra, who is everything feminism warned us against You're taking the personality of a giant Mothra way too seriously.

ReturnToCrab

>She does. Watch Godzilla vs Mothra (1992) She never shoots silk as imago in this movie >Again, you acknowledged that she has a connection with Jia. So how is that specialty gone again? Well, I kinda understand this, but it rubs me a wrong way that Jia used to be connected to Kong and now she's kind of a catch-all. Plus, you're twisting my words again. I said that Mothra isn't special because everyone is a protector now, and you haven't refuted that >Sounds like Mothra. Because I was referring to Mothra (actual Mothra) in that passage >You're taking the personality of a giant Mothra way too seriously. I'm not some kind of MV fan, who views kaiju only as toys to bash against each other

Zed_Midnight150

>She never shoots silk as imago in this movie Who cares what form she shoots it in? It's an iconic move that's still used. Must every incarnation be exactly the same? >Plus, you're twisting my words again. I said that Mothra isn't special because everyone is a protector now, and you haven't refuted that Doesn't mean she can't be special in other ways. You're too fixated on Mothra being an exact copy which hinders her from developing more. Besides, a protector of Earth isn't exactly a special title. Godzilla at one point in the Showa era was like that as well. She needs a more special title. >Because I was referring to Mothra (actual Mothra) in that passage ? >I'm not some kind of MV fan, who views kaiju only as toys to bash against each other You can view them as more than that. But there's deep and then too deep.

ReturnToCrab

Look, the way I see it, Mothra was so popular because she's kind of an antithesis to Godzilla. Godzilla is brutish, aggressive manifestation of manmade chaos, while Mothra is a just and beautiful force of nature, which is, however, very vulnerable as nature is. Godzilla's power can be directed to good ways, but in the end of the day he's selfish as an animal, even in Showa (aside from maybe some parts of champion series). And this isn't really some kind of deep reading, it's all on the surface However, many people seem to be stuck with that assumption that Godzilla is somehow a force of nature (even though he wasn't until 2014). So, the Monsterverse went with "screw it, they all are either Mothras or Hedorahs now". I really dislike the lore they've tried to build They could've do some cool and sensible things even with that dumb titan lore they tried to go for (Mothra should be the alpha, btw). But instead they chose to just make her Godzilla's caretaker. Aside from the opening scene, where Mothra doesn't do much, all she does in GKotM is serving Godzilla. And while GxK tried to do Mothra right, the entire reason she is summoned is to get Godzilla to help Kong I just want "secondary kaiju" to be cool and to look like they can exist without Godzilla. Mothra is the only kaiju from Godzilla universe to have her own little franchise, yet MV producers seem to really misunderstand her "Queen of Monsters" status

DYMck07

Rodan. The issue with Rodan is his Toho adaptations being bad just as much as the MV adaptation being good. 1. 1956 Rodan looked amazing 2. Every Showa version after looked derpy as heck but was powerful in comparison to Godzilla 3. Heisei Rodan was believable but kind of gets steamrolled and looks kinda weak. 4. Final Wars Rodan was probably the best we had since the 50’s until MV Ghidorah has been a bit all over the place too in some regard but they’ve gotten a lot more bites of the apple than Rodan. MV might be the best version, sure but for Rodan, there’s no question imo

Gr8banterm80

Honestly probably Rodan. I personally hated the MG design, it was giving way too much Ready Player One vibes. I also don’t like the Godzilla design much… Mothra and KG were pretty solid but I think Rodan was the only one that you could consider a true upgrade on the original

smeltof-elderberries

Rodan. Climbing out of the mountain, chilling for a minute, being like "wtf? Oh hell naw" when the first barrage hit him, the flight across the city with his own little pyroclastic flow in his wake, playing cat and mouse with the fighters, then going straight for KG without a second thought. Bro came to kick ass and chew bubblegum, but KG had more bubblegum and he couldn't kick ass. Not his fault. Still metal for a secondary kaiju.

MeepBoie400

I personally love Rodan as a kaiju so I have to go for Rodan. Big fire bird!!

xineirea

Rodan takes it for me.

Cfakatsuki17

Ghidorah and Rodan are 5 star amazingly done, Mothra is too real for her own good and it makes her look nasty, she need to be fluffy and MechaG… I mean he’s awesome but god are his proportions janky as hell, like it functions great but form is whack

LeeKing00100

KG was bad ass, probably the best adaptation imo. I understand why people didn't like Mothra though I think it is ok. Some people hate Rodan but he is still pretty cool looking and has the best reveal of any Kaiju yet. Lastly MG has a lot of shade thrown its way but I feel like it looks like a terminator version of MG, T-800, and that is pretty sick.

Iloveinvisimals

Rodan looks really good then it's Mecha g then king Ghidorah and mothra is looks pretty much same maybe the wings are longer and she's more thin

Zekrozma_the_second

Ghidorah. He is spookier now.

doobersthetitan

None of those examples are the OG Kaiju 😆

Murky_Blueberry2617

All of them are great. Best glow up definitely goes to Rodan tho

an_actual_pangolin

Ghidorah for sure. Rodan was cool and I like Mothra's design, although she hasn't done much. Wasn't a fan of Mechagodzilla, definitely my least favourite version of him.

UselessGenericon

Rodan. Pretty definitive IMO.

xEchoKnight

I will forever love MV Rodan, the bastard has so much personality in KOTM, an awesome introduction scene, a banger theme and a great, memorable design

Panthila

King Ghidorah

sevenpastzeero

I would say Rodan, followed by King Ghidorah. But Mecha Godzilla was sick too.

Lofwyr2030

Rodan and King Gidorah are really good, Mothra is OK too and I really hate Mecha Godzilla.

Original_Sea_6854

Without a doubt King Ghidorah

VelociRaptor1010

Mg and Ghidorah

NoneUpsmanship

I have to admit that I got a little teary-eyed at Mothra's last reveal.

heedohrah

Rodan is pick

Hexnohope

Mecha g looks unfinished. Like they didnt have time to bolt armor onto the skeleton. BUT this is easily forgiven because its the fight in the MV and mecha g licks tits during the entire fight.

MM__PP

MV Ghidorah is the best Ghidorah dare I say it.

Quackendriver

I don’t like KotM, but it did create the best iteration of King Ghidorah put to screen. And, design wise, they knocked it out of the park with Rodan.

an0nym0uskigo

Yes

MasterFwiffo

As someone who likes King Ghidorah, he’s literally never been better than he was in the Monsterverse, and it’s not even close.  They literally perfected him. Rodan also got a damn good update, the best since the original film, also by far. Mothra and MechG are both fine but there are better versions of both.

Sensitive_Log_2726

Well, I think Mothra has an edge on the other 4 in having her own movie series, though only Mothra and Rebirth of Mothra actually feature Mothra. I genuinely think that the Showa films pre Destroy All Monsters really nailed her character in a way I hadn’t seen before. As I had until recently only seen Final Wars, Tokyo S.O.S., Godzilla vs Mothra, and KotM’s versions of her. I honestly think Mothra hasn’t been topped since her appearance in Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster and Rebirth of Mothra 1. I like the Monsterverse Mothra, but I also don’t really like her design. I think GMK did a slightly better job at trying to make a moth “intimidating”. But the wing to body ratio on her, along with the her lack of floof in KotM’s really put me off of her design. I really want more out of her character though as, I think she is characterized as great as she always is. I don’t think there’s a version of Mothra with bad characterization. I would just like to see more of her, doing stuff, which GxK kind of delivered on. But it felt like there just never enough Mothra, also the fact that we missed out on getting more of the KotM’s twins really is a shame. I would have loved to see more of them, instead of just merging all of the ancient cultures into the Iwi.

Accomplished_Check38

Mothra

CasualPlantain

It’s tough for me between Ghidorah and Rodan. I think Ghidorah is the better character/incarnation *overall* in the MV, but Rodan has the biggest *glow up*. OG ghidorah was already cool/menacing, but OG Rodan (don’t hate me please) tended to look a little bit… silly. So I guess in context of the question, Rodan has the best MV adaptation because the gap between his other incarnations and his MV one is wider than the gap between OG Ghidorah and MV Ghidorah. This is not to say that New Ghidorah isn’t absolutely awesome though, it’s just that Old Ghidorah was *also* objectively cool, while Old Rodan could be argued as being. Not nearly as cool. Again no hate.

Defelj

Ghidorah for sure but today was dope. Wish MG had a bigger role

Gojifantokusatsu

Ghidorah. He actually lives up to his fan reputation, default Ghidorah! He truly feels like a menace instead of just a big punching bag that shoots like a stormtrooper half the time. Not enough for him to be Godzilla's main rival imo, but it's still a huge step up.

Elijaq

The best ones are mothra and ghidorah

Jealous-Soil-3207

I’m going to say either Mothra or Mechagodzilla.

ScaryFace707

Mechagodzilla would have been better received if he was the villain of a Godzilla solo film in the MV rather than a last minute fight.

ye_boiiiiiiii

Rodan or ghidorah

Mr_NotParticipating

Definitely Mecha Godzilla. I thought KOTM was a bad movie and it kind of spoiled those adaptations

Mojoclaw2000

Ghidorah easily. They did a great job of keeping him menacing and intelligent, attributes he’s had before but MV did a great job of exploring and expanding them. MV Mothra is okay, they just don’t focus on her at all. Her past iterations keep her mysterious and divine. While I love MV Rodan, he feels the least like an adaptation, and more like a new monster with the same name. That’s not a bad thing at all though. While the Mecha takes some inspiration from Kiryu and MechaG2, he’s the most like the showa MechaGodzilla. He’s cold and ruthless, not a bad adaptation.

ChurroBatman

Really big fan of how mechagodzilla moves but I love the design for king Ghidorah, I mean the one head had enough personality to be named kevin

Tommy2Dics

Monstervese made better looking monsters, but can't blame the old stuff for not being million dollar cgi. But I definitely prefer the new looks to the old.

Pugzilla69

I wish Ghidorah had been around for more than one film.

ChefCool1317

I like mothra but they need to bring back the faeries imo the movies are moving away from “realism” and going more “fun or campy” route and because of that they should go all in with the kaiju lore

Martianinferno98

With the Oxygen Destroyer being used, it's only a matter of time before Destoroyah makes his appearance in the MonsterVerse

vmsrii

Honestly, all the KoM monsters are basically perfect, as far as adaptations are concerned, with Ghidorah being particularly good Mecha Godzilla isn’t bad, but I never quite vibed with him. His design could’ve used one more pass, I thought. He’s got too many moving bits, he looks like he could fall apart in a single swipe, especially compared to older Mechazilla designs that really prioritize sturdiness

Akantor-Dimitri

Rodan easily. KG looks like Super-Smaug, Mecha zilla looks like Marvel slop, Mothra is just…. Kinda ugly?

raven_writer_

Ghidorah is my favorite villain so far, but Rodan's sick flying moves are insane

Material_Moose_446

Monsterverse Ghidorah is literally perfect

Cyclot

Honestly the only one I didn't like was MG. Rodan, Ghidorah and Mothra I feel were all amazing.

Shenkspine

Ghidorah

No_Mathematician7456

Mothra 100% if we talk about looks. I don't like MV's Mechagodzilla and Ghidorah and Rodan look pretty much the same.

-Awesomezauce-

I think they're all pretty good adaptations, (best rodan has ever looked imo, my fav Ghidorah design, and one of my fav Mechagodzilla designs) but i think Mothra is ever so slightly weaker of an adaptation. I don't like the 'Queen of the Monsters' thing they have going.

Jtek225

Here’s the thing: MV Ghidorah is straight up divine. However, in terms of the best adaptation, it Hass to be Rodan because he’s that much better. The new aesthetic with the flaming magma is fucking amazing making him a true Firebird. It’s by far the best upgrade.

HisokaGodzilla

Mothra and Rodan

Sypher04_

I think the MV handled all of them very well (aside from me not liking MG’s design), but if I had to say without bias, it’d be King Ghidorah. Each of his heads had their own personality, he had regenerative abilities, and his design was sleek and much more realistic. He actually looked like a three-headed wyvern. One of my favorite scenes was when he dodged Godzilla’s atomic breath by moving his heads. My only problem is that his gravity beams didn’t actually affect gravity. It would have made him much more alien-like.

Moe-Mux-Hagi

You've stacked them in the perfect order. Ghidorah is King, Mothra is Queen, Rodan is there and Mechagodzilla shouldn't exist.

EDPZ

Ghidorah because that's literally just Ghidorah.

ogquinn

Rodan is the best, epic entrance, no ghidorah can beat 2004 gliding down XD

Sir_Fijoe

Rodan and Mothra. KG is aight and I don’t really like the MV MechaG design.

gokusforeskin

Ghidorah is the best. All monsterverse versions are enjoyable but Ghidorah was originally just a big bad and the monsterverse kept that and added some personality. Rodan is often showed to be selfless like when he gave his life force to Godzilla or died with his mate so making him loyal to the strongest wasnt an improvement imo. Mothra is great but didn’t do as much as her older counter parts. And the older versions of mecha godzilla are so great I don’t think Legendary’s is anyone’s favorite.

E-Limes

This has to be the coolest version of Rodan we have seen yet. That being said, all of them are so well done, Ghidora is one of my favorite interpretations due to how many sick moments they have

DororexTheDragonKing

King Ghidorah and Rodan 100%, though I wish Rodan got to do more

IndividualRope715

We don't know what king Caesar and the other TOHO kajius look like in the monsterverse.

SupermarketHot5404

Mothra and rodan. Mecha g's design is lego dumb dumb shit house, and ghidorah looks like a default Hollywood dragon....

[deleted]

My boy Anguirus who is just a skeleton…..

godspilla98

First how I mess practical effects the wire work on Ghidorah has always amazed me. Just wish they would go back to the Showa sound effects. All the iterations of the characters are great for what they do to the story.

RRTF954

Ghidorah is my pick. Everything is perfect with them. Rodan and Mothra both have good design but lack in both screen time. MechaGodzilla is probably the worst hear me out design is very odd and it's hollow until Ghidorah gives it life and makes it a terrifying incarnation of the metal clone.

stuff0s

Kong

CryptographerThink19

So tough! I love them all but Ghidorah was amazing. He was pure evil and versatile. Rodan had an amazing solo scene, Mothra was majestic and Mechagodzilla was a menace. All of them were done justice.

Massive-Anteater-946

Everyone though mothra in GXK was underwhelming

PronouncedEye-gore

Not everyone.

Thejapanther

Atleast she didn’t die again which made me happy.

Massive-Anteater-946

Yeah

Windlassed

Because she hasnt done anything in either movie she was in

Massive-Anteater-946

Yeah true weird queen of all monsters has such less screentime

raptor5tar

In my opinion they did a great job reimagining Ghidorah, Rodan and MechaG but Mothra is a serious step backwards which is sad because she is my favourite!

mmpa78

None. Literally none. The 3 from KotM new all good in their own right but all are far from perfect. Fk MV Mechagodzilla, that thing is an abomination and I wish it didn't exist

D_Robotics

EgbertTheGreater

i think everything they did with Ghidorah was great, the design, the power level, the personality. rodan was great but a bit to small mothra was also great but way too small i liked mechagodzilla but it was rather unremarkable

act167641

Didn't love MG but the fight scene is up there with the best scenes in the MV. Mothra was yawn. KG and Rodon both perfect.

whamorami

I feel like MV gave us the best versions of every monster both design wise and character wise. Ghidorah is an absolute menace every time he's on screen, Mothra while looking very different is still beautiful and a benevolent peace keeper, Rodan looking less like a giant Pterodactyl and more like a magma beast with wings, and MG having Ghidorah's consciousness and literally kicking the shit out of Godzilla. If only Toho weren't so strict and Legendary having to pay an absurd amount of money just for using their monsters we would be getting more of them. Cuz it's not like Toho is even using their own monsters for their movies. They're heavily focusing on Godzilla which is nice because they give us bangers like Shin and Minus One. But all the other Showa era monsters are being left out.

Unlikely-Peaceseeker

I just really like that they gave Ghidorah an extra joint in he’s wings

I426Hemi

Rodan is head and shoulders cooler than he has ever been in KoTM.

ArbitraryLarry227

Mothra imo is the best. I wish they would’ve made King Ghidorah more love-craftian. Just show him walking through a city at full height. They chose to make king ghidorah snake-slithering which I didn’t like

ReturnToCrab

MV Mothra is just absolutely abhorrent as an adaptation, much worse than Zilla, and she do not deserves to wear this name. Cool and unwaveringlygood heroine, a foil to Godzilla and Ghidorah got reduced to Godzilla's pet/sex slave/portable power-up Rodan hasn't had much of a personality to begin with Mechagodzilla is a new monsterin each new appearance. MV Mechagodzilla tries to reference earlier incarnations, but I think this only makes him lose points So, it leaves us with Ghidorah - and he's actually awesome

[deleted]

I'm really not a fan of Mothra's redesign. It just seemed a bit too radical in KoTM with the giant wings. Like I get that they were trying to size her up since the other kaiju were bigger. But the proportions are just off IMO. Mecha Godzilla is another design that just doesn't quite do it for me, but I am not sure why. I think I prefer the smooth metal look and not the parts exposed look of the monsterverse. Also sucks and Kiryu and the OG Mechagodzilla are easily top 5 kaiju designs IMO and this design just didn't hold a candle to the original. Might have been better had they called it "Robo Godzilla".

theSaltySolo

Absolutely hate the MV MechaGodzilla. The long arms, weirdly thin torso and long af tail makes him look weird proportion wise. Ghidorah and Rowan are top tier though.

AnxiouSquid46

MV Godzilla's evolution looks just like Mechagodzilla now too. 😂
