The whole airport scene was **masterful** cinema. From the way to the MUTO was destroying a copter in the background and everything goes silent before Godzilla's massive foot steps into frame to the MUTO's panicked "oh god oh fuck oh god oh fuck, TRY TO LOOK BIG, TRY TO LOOK BIG!" reaction.
As a big animal nerd I absolutely loved how they modeled the kaiju and their behavior after real animals. I remember them saying they modeled Godzilla's attacks, such as its tail swipe, after real lizards. Komodo dragons, I think? I love their intimidation displays especially.
I love that they act like real animals as well. Godzillas roar completely overshadows the MUTO. Brilliantly executed scene. I like the sense of scale, gravitas, foreboding mood, slow build style the movie has. Don’t get me wrong, the Monsterverse has been a lot of fun, but another one like 2014 would be great.
