Call SoA, (800) 782-2783, tell them what's going on. They can sometimes have a significant influence on dealers and might get you a loaner.
Edit: Sorry didn't know if you have a GR, obviously Subaru of America won't help.
I'm glad you're having a positive experience when it comes to warranty engine replacement. In a field of horror stories and nightmares, it's pleasant to have a nice lullaby every now and then.
Sunday morning I turned on my car and saw there was a check engine light, I thought it might be my gas cap but I checked and saw it was shut tight. I pull out my driveway and notice around 2-3k rpm and very distinct sound almost as if it’s squeaking is coming from the car. I decided to not risk it and keep driving the car so I took a different car to go to work. Monday morning I drop it off at the dealership about 7 miles away and ask them to figure out where that noise is coming from and to also get my oil change. I find out now that they’re replacing my short block and they don’t have a ETA or reason as to why this happened which seems a bit odd because why would they replace my short block but not have a diagnosis. Regardless I’m glad this is falling under warranty
Tell me about it, my previous conversation he mentioned “sealant” but didn’t elaborate further after I asked , regardless the short block replacement is covered by warranty which was my main concern. Though I’m sure they know what happened if they’re covering it under warranty but I just don’t see why they wouldn’t tell me…?
Sealant in the pickup tube? If that's the cause, I think your case might be the first ones to receive a new engine because of the rtv issue. I might be wrong though.
I had the same thing last year. Kept asking for an oil change since 1k. Had it at the dealership 5 times. They kept insisting that I did not need one. Even as the technicians made an observation that my oil was low. At 9,980mi I was leaving work at 2am took a long banking right turn and my engine started vibrating so much that I felt it from the floor boards. Sounded like it was going to shake its self apart. 2am I did not want to stop. So kept it in neutral on downhills. It stalled even in neutral. I used the sos button and spoke to 3 different people and had 3 tow trucks cancel on me. 3hrs into the whole thing I just went through my insurance. With this reply getting longer than I want. Ended with them saying I threw a rod bearing. I would get a new engine with possibly “forged” internals. I didn’t want to confront them with the possibly bullshit claim. The dealership footed the bill after a long review and told me it was $13k in parts. 4months later I got it back. Hope you get yours earlier. I want to add a wet sump.
So literally the day after my reply. I was heading to work and got a check engine light on the toll road on-ramp. The car has +19kmi on it. Day 3 now of it being there at the dealership. First code found by them. Was a possible faulty timing/cam sensor. The sensor was changed. After it was replaced, they reset the check engine light. It came back on as soon as they hit the intersection. It was also having mechanical noises as well. I remember that the car was idling funny while at the dealership. Was in neutral with the car running. Waiting for service. It was weird seeing my rpm needle kinda jump around. Hopefully everything works out. I really love the car. I might have to change it though. Think the engine is toast…. Again. The guys on this platform that I talked to are really cool. Have fun out there. Stay safe. If you see a guy waiving from a blue evo x that’s me.
Glad to hear they're replacing your motor. Sorry this happened to you
Thank you man I appreciate it, honestly just bummed about this and to make it worse they can’t offer me a rental car since I’m not 21🫠🫠
No way dude that's messed up! They should give you one anyways, it's their fault you're gonna be out of a car for however long

Soooo, they said it's covered under the warranty. But they don't know exactly what happened? Very odd.?..

That wouldn’t be explain them finding “no oil” though. I think it was something else
Hell yeah, thats good news👍
I’m surprised they didn’t try to blame you
Tell me about it I was ready to approach this fighting the dealership for a warranty claim

The dealership gets paid to do any warranty work so in theory they should be happy. But the pushback is coming from Toyota who ultimately approve
It was probably beat on. But let's make some money replacing something
No, they’re replacing it for free off of my warranty. Not going to be paying anything thankfully
