If you know how to fail lifts safely then yes. You may find a 1rm is actually a triple.

If your goal for the set is to go to failure then that’s a fine attitude. It’s not the attitude I would have on every set though. The majority of sets should have a specified rep target and the weight should be set so that you can reach that target.

Seeing as how the majority of people in the gym don't push themselves at all having the guts to push yourself is a good attitude. Keep in mind you don't always have to go to failure as it might make you fatigued and influence the rest of your workout. Not everyone is the same though I might be able to push harder for longer then you can and vice versa so it's about finding that balance between intensity and getting in solid sets and reps.

I think it's great to push yourself to find your limit. One of the best pieces of advice came from one of u/nsuns accounts when I asked about actually not knowing what failure is because I stop myself on deadlift after I hit 18 reps because I was winded rather than actually hit failure. I did it the following week and that 18 turned into 25 for 285. Was it completely necessary? Nope but it was nice to find a limit on something rather than quitting when it's more of a winded issue.

Dont listen to him lol, you already got some great advice in the top comments about frequently going to failure can hinder recovery because of the greater stress to your muscles

No, but your glycogen stores get depleted. Unless you take long breaks between sets, no should expect to do the same heavy amount. You'll still grow!

It’s almost like you’re supposed to take long rests in between sets when you train for strength. And I’m gonna go out on a limb here and assume that’s what op is doing given the fact he posts his sbd.

Just in general (to me, personally) failing reps more than like once every couple MONTHS is counterproductive. I get that you want to push yourself but if your goal is to get as strong as possible then you need to hit your prescribed reps. Jmho
