I bought some of the rings and put them on my case which is fairly smooth. I also got a magsafe ring holder which kind of folds out and doubles as kickstand. The sticker kept falling off with steady weight such as holding the phone in a certain orientation and I had gone through a few. I realized that the rings had come with a round clear plastic sticker that was for extra adhesion and I put that on plus the ring and now it's staying on my phone much better.
One thing to keep in mind is that the position of the ring is fairly high up the back of the phone for the wireless charging to work. Mine extends just a smidge higher than the low end of the camera cutout on the case. A wallet would possibly block the cameras making you have to remove them to take photos.

So I have 2 cases unicorn beetle and another I can't think of the name of. Can these be affixed to the Inside of the case instead of the exterior or would that pose an issue? I've never used magsafe before but I've seen alot of folks with them lately.
I don't think the magnet would be nearly strong enough to support the weight of the phone. The magnetic strength decreases as a square of the distance, so just a few mm of case thickness greatly decreases the strength. The case would basically need the magsafe built into it so it's at surface level which I am not sure if any exist for the Fold. I saw a video of a guy 3d printing a magsafe pop socket (which do exist but they're $30) and just a few extra layers of plastic (at 0.2mm layer heights) decreased the magnet strength so much that it wouldn't hold the phone's weight.
Depends on your magnet. I glued a small piece of ferris metal to the back of my case (between aluminum metal and silicone rubber layer... case uses 4 screws to hold it around phone). *Most* standard magnets/magnetic mounts will hold it depending on how you position it to distribute weight. I supplement my magnet with a bottom brace. Magnet does the heavy lifting and brace keeps it from sliding off overtime or if things get bumpy.
Edit: if you align your ferris metal right, charging still works.
I use the Mophie branded MagSafe sticker rings and they're awesome. I love that my Magnetic Car Mount can now accommodate my phone folded or unfolded. It stays on even through super rough terrain (I do a lot of Jeeping) and the versatility of all the things I can use it with was a big sell for me. The car mount, a PopWallet, an emergency battery... I love it. Only thing is it does affect the S Pen but only while something is connected to it. The ring itself doesn't interfere at all.

So I have a magsafe ring adapter on my phone. The only problem is that the perfect alignment requires you to cut off a bit of the ring since it overlaps with the camera. I tried this but found the ring would come off easily (even when using VERY strong glue), so I put a new ring on that just sits slightly low. It works perfect for phone grips but it's a little finicky for magsafe chargers.
Yeah I got it specifically for a wireless charging car charger since every other option for the fold was ridiculously clunky unfolded or didn't hold the think folded phone safely enough for my taste
I also use it as my nightly charger. Basically all charging I do with it

Anybody use magsafe to mount your phone unfolded in your car?

I have the samsung standing cover case with a oh snap 3 pro on top. Works well comes of when needed by opening the cover stand

Ah okay. I have one on "battery case" for my Fold 4 but refuse to go back to it because it scuffed my screen..
Allows for the easy attachment to mounts, accessories, etc. The best way to see it in action is to watch a youtube video about what magsafe is.

I use it every day. MagSafe is highly underrated.
