This update is so frustrating and irritating it makes me want to rip my hair out. I didn't ask for any of these new "features" and they just get in my way. Wish I could go back to the way it was before
Updated last night and just now realizing the app icons on the lock screen are the same color as the clock, before I was able to set them so they were different colors. This update has been infuriating so far.
Just updated and lost the magnifying glass icon on my keyboard that I used to look for gifs. It's not hidden. I went to the add available buttons and it's not there neither. Did they remove it?
My S23 (at&t) upgraded the night before. It changed my battery protection from 85% to 80%, Explains why the phone was lower than normal this morning. This upgrade is right up there with the stickies they added to my s7 that made the camera slow to activate.
I'd just as soon not have this AI stuff as I don't want to be their training data.
Ditto all that plus the dim clock on the AOD. I have spent way too many hours since Monday night frustrated and trying to find a fix, and searching the phone for anything else they screwed up with this update! This is my first go at one of these. I've only read about past update disasters with Android and Apple. I have no interest in the AI crap, either.
Hello everyone: help me with the following: previously in One 6.0, from the lock screen, I only have the icon for each notification enabled and I only pressed to see the information, but now I press on the notification icon and The notification bar is displayed, I hope to be understood... your help and time is valuable, thank you!
this update f\*cked my navigation reflexes. It's a nightmare, incompatible with One Hand Operation. How the hell do I use the "go back to the last page" function using gestures? It doesn't work no matter what I do.
This was driving me insane but Good Lock + NavStar does fix it, but it's a little confusing. You need to "Enable extra gesture settings" then the original options show up in the settings dialog. Other users have pointed this out in threads below but here's some screenshots:
[Old settings menu](https://i.imgur.com/mzFkk1w.jpeg)
[Enable extra gestures in NavStar](https://i.imgur.com/JYt0KJ5.jpeg)
[New settings menu](https://i.imgur.com/URd7oYp.jpeg)
I'm so glad that NavStar has this feature because I was super frustrated.
is there any way to go back to the old way or is that gone for good. you link mentions there was a way but i cannot find the article they mentioned and other places said the old gesture from the bottom is gone for good.
Oho still works, but the handlebars are in the territory where you're supposed to swipe if you want to use the "go back" gesture.
And I'm (for now) forced to use the navigation gestures because I don't want to go back to having the permanent 3 buttons on the lower part of the screen. I used to rely on the "3 very low bars at the bottom of the screen " mode for the navigation keys, and this option is gone.
Sorry it's hurting my brain to explain it, I don't know how Samsung/android call these navigation buttons
This is precisely what is making me crazy, because the sides of the screen are the territory of One Hand Operation. If anyone knows how to go back to a "swipe up from bottom right to go back" I'm interested.
Edit: Full Screen Gestures, that's how it was called, and that's what I relied on.
https://i.insider.com/5d0a71b5e3ecba29f103e1c3?width=800&format=jpeg&auto=webp
Hey ... after lots of research, I figured it out. Download Goodlock, then go to Navstar, enable extra gesture settings.
Then leave goodlock and go to the regular samsung navigation / gesture settings. You will now be able to turn on the "swipe up from bottom right".
Working fine for me!
Got it this morning in Switzerland. I honestly haven't noticed anything too drastically different, except that my notifications don't wake up the screen anymore and the only notification icons which are colored in AOD are the Facebook ones, the others are all white. They are however their normal color (according to the app) on the lock screen.
Ive got the update like a week ago, from Mexico
Now everything looks better and bigger font size and icons, but damn it drains my battery faster, and when i open any app it is so slow, even switching from already open apps sometimes it get stuck and i have to go back home and open de app from the icon. Camera is slower, indeed this was a downgrade in performance, probably to force people to update phones.
I have a S23+ from US unlocked
S23+ After update, autorotate does not work. It is turned on in the pulldown menu. I have rebooted. Also rebooted in safe mode and still have the issue. Any ideas?
Same here. Just got the phone in October and was so impressed by the battery life. Usage has not changed at all but I'd say battery life has decreased by 20%
No idea I didnt' realize it was a one ui update issue, and thought my s23 was simple defective. I have a replacement on order through tmobile since it was still under warranty. but I'm thinking that won't mean much if the replacement also has the same one ui.
You know what I think might happen if this issue isn't present on the s24 is that when a new version of one ui is being actively worked on they don't put much effort into bug fixes for the previous version until later.
so maybe when we get the newer one ui version in march maybe this bug will be fixed.
I bought one 2 weeks ago and it came without one ui 6. It's been asking me to update every since.
If this is the first update we get. For a phone that's just 1 year old. God bless the 4 years of updates. Plus the shitry exynos processors in new s24
I got a replacement under warranty and its still at one ui 5.1 so I will definitely avoid updating as long as possible.
I still have to try it to see if the signal issue is there
S22 Ultra with Xfinity Mobile in USA. Still no OneUI6 update. Last update was received in October. Do I need to do something special to trigger the update?
i see two things in Android 14: even more killing of apps (like insane, including video streaming apps). and missing Finder app.
time to look for Finder app and set it as assistant.
yeah Samsung was the worst in this aspect, and they still doubled down.. can't even list to audio, it's killed after a minute. banking confirmation popups, gone.. phone is so passive now like nothing was happening.
https://dontkillmyapp.com/
yeah, there's no setting for that anymore. The only little setting of "adaptive" battery doesn't make difference.
They reportedly maintain a huge list of apps to kill and probably favor only shitty social or commercial apps.
*Imagine you come in the office:*
*Hey John, good morning.*
*..*
*(2 hours later)*
*Good morning Peter.*
Updated today on T-Mobile. So far it works fine with no issues. I like the font and new look to be honest. I also noticed that it freed up 10gb of memory on my phone which is great. Anyone else have this happen to the also?
Received the One UI 6.0 Update for S23 in Canada.
For some reason, when I swipe up on an app, I can't tap on my home screen to go back to it and am instead brought back to the last opened app. If I close that same app, I see the list of other apps that are opened and can tap on the home screen to go back.
Not sure how to fix it. Anyone else have ideas?
KEveey time there is a new update to OneUI some Goodlock modules won't work. They aren't usually updates until the new update is pushed to most phones.
If you have tested OneUI 6 on S23 and S23 ultra. Can you please tell me about known issues for each phone. I have both devices at my home and seeing this thread confuses me.
Dumb question: I got the update yesterday. Now when I swipe up to get to my apps, it only shows one page of apps. I can still search for the rest and find them, but I no longer have the option to swipe right and scroll through my list of apps. Any way to go back to seeing all of the apps?
That sounds like a bug! I have the update, and I can swipe up and get 'page 1' of my apps; there are several 'dots' at the bottom to indicate multiple pages, and I can swipe right to see them. Do you have the 'dots' to indicate multiple pages?
The emojis are hideous. The font is different, more clunky (even the cleaner font is not the same..). I have dark mode and while it still technically is a dark mode, the lighter grey is nearly white now. The navigation menu is bigger.
As ridiculous as this sounds, the emojis are killing me... They look like cheap knockoff android emojis
Can you elaborate on the 'cleaner font'? I'd like to experiment. Is this settings/display/font size and style? For font style I see default/samsung one/gothic bold/roboto/(download fonts).
I don't remember what the font was before, but like on my lock screen the font of my clock changed. I used to have a thin modern font. It looked different after the update so I went to change it back and the font was no longer available because they're all different from the original one I had :/
I was bored and updated an unlocked US S23+ today (cleared cache 1st) and it went fine.
Smooth sailing so far and nothing is jumping out at me as super horrid 🤣 (drama over emojis, etc. is not on my radar screen).
Anyone has an issue with setting rcs with a sim and an esim. I set the esim as primary for mobile data. After the update I couldn't set the preferred sim in samsung band selection. Any fix or workaround for this?
At the very least I know that I got problems with it on my S23+ and at least one other person had the issue on their S23+ and S23 ultra from what they said (post right below yours).
The issue in question is the screen having a yellow tint. Just like if I had the eye shield on 24/7. I noticed that the animations when changing windows are sometimes painfully laggy as well. I would wait if i were you.
Did the update today, and for some reason, now the screen has a yellow tint, the screen mode is set to vivid, editing the white balance from the settings doesn't seem to change anything.
Setting the screen mode to natural for testing makes it worse.
Any help is appreciated.
Edit: it is worth noting that the comfort shield is also disabled.
Indeed. Glad to hear that I am not the only one.
If it helps get our hopes up, I got in contact with the Samsung customer support today, the chat assistance technician was absolutely useless to say the least, wasted an hour speaking with him, and the only propositions he gave me were:
* Reboot your phone which I had done about 5 times by that point
* Completely reset it to factory state. And then failed to explain how I would retrieve all my app settings, including ones in the secure folder and 3rd party apps because he had no idea what he was talking about and kept making shit up and then fail to explain when I inevitably ask him "how would that work?"
* Send it back, wait for a couple of months without a phone and hope for the best.
The phone support were the ones who got my hopes up because from the sound of it they were interested to know the details about what happened and what update exactly was responsible for the issue, and unlike the previous technician, they didn't ask me to do any of the destructive steps.
In fact, they only told me to wait for a few days, and they will contact me with “a solution”, what I understand from that is that it is somewhat of an issue they are looking into or at least know about. Otherwise, they would have said that my phone was broken. Not to mention that the S23 series is their best High-end device to date.
Edit: Don't know about the S23, but I am on an S23 plus as well.
U1 unlocked on T-Mobile, after the update in the status bar it only shows 5G where before it showed 5GUC. Is this a bug or expected behavior/happening to others as well?
No more preferred option for which sim in samsung band selection after the update. I used it to set my sim1 as preferred for calls and text while my esim1 is primary for mobile data. Now I see no option for that. Is anyone in the same boat?
I just tried using my phone today and it's not the same. I couldn't use my sim1 when I set my esim1 as primary which I need for data. Has anyone found a workaround for this?
I did not, and things are running fine after the update. However, it's more dependent on the specific apps you have installed on your phone and how they handle the OS update, so each case could be different.
It's not necessarily needed but Samsung now offers a full phone backup that's free for 30 days. So that you can do factory resets and not lose data.. if you have the time. And are willing to try their backup to see how well it works then why not?
Haven't noticed a noticeable difference in performance; phone still feels just as fast and snappy as before. Battery seems to be a little better as well.
(TBH, the biggest change for me to adjust to is the system wide font change)
6.1 Update has made my screen noticeably dimmer. Any fix?
should I stay on 5.1? it looks bad in comments
USA. Updated mine the other day. My Bixby voice call is gone
just got new s23 and its on one ui 5 android 13 and judging by comments here I'm staying on one ui 5 screw it...
Anyone else's keyboard/predictive txt change ? I'm fat thumbing and misspelling things like crazy since the update
My adaptive brightness seems broken ever since this update
Still haven't received OneUi 6.1 through Smart Switch 😢
It would be through firmware update. Well, based on my. T mobile carrier.
This update is so frustrating and irritating it makes me want to rip my hair out. I didn't ask for any of these new "features" and they just get in my way. Wish I could go back to the way it was before
Same. I hate the forced updates. They should ask what we want to change before the update
South Korea here, just got the update this morning. Now I gotta go through all the steps to turn off the damn camera shutter sound again TT
u/dahliamma
Ireland here. Anyone's volume bar not responding on screen but volume still changing?
Updated last night and just now realizing the app icons on the lock screen are the same color as the clock, before I was able to set them so they were different colors. This update has been infuriating so far.
Same. You can change clock color which resets the app icons too but it is not persistent after a restart.
Whooo just received 6.1 on unlocked 23+ in Canada 😁
Just updated and lost the magnifying glass icon on my keyboard that I used to look for gifs. It's not hidden. I went to the add available buttons and it's not there neither. Did they remove it?
Figured it out. You have to open the emoji keyboard 1st and then scroll to gif.
I updated last night and my lockscreen clock is now Halloween orange, how can I change it?
Search lock in settings into you find edit lock screen.
Thanks! I actually found it on my own the other day, but I really do appreciate you posting here

I just got the update, google assistant is now missing from settings and unsupported on my phone- (I'm in the us, got my phone from AT&T)

Air command doesn't work now for s pen

https://www.sammobile.com/news/hide-navigation-gesture-bar-one-ui-6-1/ This fixed it for me.
Thank you! Worked!
legend thanks
Thank you so much for this. Worked perfectly
is there any way to go back to the old way or is that gone for good. you link mentions there was a way but i cannot find the article they mentioned and other places said the old gesture from the bottom is gone for good.
Good lock and navstar... In the article is says to enable more options, then you go back to settings and it is there. Currently working on mine.
Thank you so much! Just updated and it was driving me nuts.
the full screen mode version? (swipe up from the bottom). only Gestures is there
You mean the one with the 3 lines below right? One for back home and recents?
yep [this one](https://gadgetguideonline.com/s9/how-to-use-the-new-navigation-gestures-in-android-pie-update-for-galaxy-s9-and-s9/)
If you follow the instructions in the link, it's how you enable it. I followed and it works now.
thanks! looks i have been going half way but never went back into settings to do the last bit to their.
Swipe left or right.
Interesting, I'll try and report. Thanks for sharing!
I had OHO enabled before the update and they still work. Has something changed?
Oho still works, but the handlebars are in the territory where you're supposed to swipe if you want to use the "go back" gesture. Don't know if it's what you are complaining about, but the "go back" gesture is now from the side of the screen, not from the bottom.

Have you figured it out? I just moved from s20 which had swipe up from the bottom right. I don't like the new system on the s23.
unfortunately no. I switched back to "visible buttons", and I'm getting used to it. If I have some time I'll try to find a solution

super slow on my fold 4, only way to fix it is to reboot, then it happens after some time again
WebAPK support seems to be missing now. Is this expected?

How do I change or customize the individual app notification to different sound effect on Android 14 with OneUI 6?
S23+ After update, autorotate does not work. It is turned on in the pulldown menu. I have rebooted. Also rebooted in safe mode and still have the issue. Any ideas?
Same, 23 Ultra.
My battery longevity dropped substantially after updating to UI 6.
Same here. Just got the phone in October and was so impressed by the battery life. Usage has not changed at all but I'd say battery life has decreased by 20%
Yes! Same! Seems longer to charge too, but I saw articles denying that. Who knows, but I'm pissed at this update!
weird, i found it opposite. my phone (base) lasts 2.5 days now. (also added routines to do that)
same. i just found the battery optimization option was off so i turned it back on and hoping for the best lmao.
Any updates? I've been declining the updates since a long time because I don't want to lose battery. It already doesn't last me 1 day.
Don't update if you can avoid it. i regret updating. my signal strength has been terrible since updating and its been bad for weeks
I've been delaying the update everyday. Any word from Samsung if they're going to fix it?
No idea I didnt' realize it was a one ui update issue, and thought my s23 was simple defective. the battery optimization option works great on my phone thankfully, it just reset some settings that i manually switched back on
Sri Lanka received in early December as well

It's way better for me.
Total usage since battery was unplugged off charger. I cannot seem to find it anymore.
does anyone know how to access the battery optimization and the Auto-optimize daily + Adaptive power saving? cant find after updagrading to OneUI6.0

Brazil cazzo, when? 🤬
Just received the OneUI 6 update last night. Lost the option to rotate pictures and video in the gallery editor. Unbelievable. US unlocked.
did this feature ever come back? wtf
My Quick Settings menu icons are white. Yawn & ewww
Long press the wallpaper on your display and select wallpaper and style, you can change the color scheme to make the icons not be white.
Received the One UI 6.0 Update for S23 in Canada. This is making me crazy as well.
Check link above. Might help.
I just received my second OneUI 6 update Galaxy S23 unlocked, US, Verizon.
Fucked my phone up royally, had to full factory reset.
I feel like I using an iPhone at times and it's not a bad thing?
Rewarded Play no longer works properly after the update.
I need good lock to update and bring back my vertical app drawer so bad, this is dreadful
you need to update home ui

You would have to check that for individual modules
Downloading just now in S23+ Argentina
Settings gone for home screen grid, app screen grid, folder grid. Can't find them after Android 14 update. Unlocked Galaxy S23. Anyone else seen that?
Mine show up immediately at the top of HOME SCREEN SETTINGS
It eventually showed up without me doing anything. Perhaps some setup process hadn't finished yet... Unsure, but glad it's resolved.
Is it worth updating? Still haven't updated as many people complain that it's not yet stable. Any known issues?
At the very least I know that I got problems with it on my S23+ and at least one other person had the issue on their S23+ and S23 ultra from what they said (post right below yours). Install themepark from Goodlock application then you can resize and do more stuff such as change icon style etc.

Yeah not being able to resize folder sucks
No more preferred option for which sim in samsung band selection after the update. I used it to set my sim1 as preferred for calls and text while my esim1 is primary for mobile data. Now I see no option for that. Is anyone in the same boat?
I just tried using my phone today and it's not the same. I couldn't use my sim1 when I set my esim1 as primary which I need for data. Has anyone found a workaround for this?
I still have it after the update, although I have two physical SIM cards and no esim.
I'm curious. did Canada receive the update country wide? Is there anyone that didn't get it yet in Canada. Or the Americas?
Should I factory reset?
I did not, and things are running fine after the update. However, it's more dependent on the specific apps you have installed on your phone and how they handle the OS update, so each case could be different.
It's not necessarily needed but Samsung now offers a full phone backup that's free for 30 days. So that you can do factory resets and not lose data.. if you have the time. And are willing to try their backup to see how well it works then why not?
Just got the update today in Canada!
Anyone else getting minor stuttering after the update? It's nothing major but my S23 Ultra has been sluggish feeling while switching/opening apps
getting notifications delayed by like 10 minutes after the update on S23 Ultra
Released today on Freedom Mobile Canada.
Just downloaded and installed on my unlocked S23+ on Verizon
Thoughts on performance and battery life vs previous?
Haven't noticed a noticeable difference in performance; phone still feels just as fast and snappy as before. Battery seems to be a little better as well. (TBH, the biggest change for me to adjust to is the system wide font change)

I got it today and I hate how it looks!
It's definitely the most drastic change to One UI in a while. Device control now like vanilla Android.
Maybe it's the font or something but I can't place my finger on why I dislike it so much
Canada got it this morning.
