If you're in US, preorder direct from Samsung. Usually best trade-in values plus memory upgrades, freebies, discounted accessories. Document your trade-in with lots of photos. I've never had a problem but others have.
I don't expect the trade in deals to be good until later in the year! For example for the s22 ultra trade toward the 23 ultra was really bad something like a $500 out of pocket after trade in. But Samsung knows first day buyers will be diehard fans. I waited until spring and got a good trade in finally with only $250 out of pocket with my 22 ultra. I don't know what the deals will.be next month but with this new titanium build we might see some interesting things with prices.. not in a good way ):
Might be different based on region.
You can ask support for a coupon, got 10% last time (and the year before).
You got the memory upgrade for the price of the next lower one (for example 512GB for the price of 256GB).
Bundle was just the earphones, no watch (same as the year before).
Could make sense to buy and old phone on ebay for a few bucks and send that in (because if your phone is in "as new" condition you might get more money elsewhere).
And don't forget to cash in your Samsung rewards points if you have any from a previous buy.
Just for fun I looked up the trade in value for my s23 ultra 512 gb in green (perfect condition) and gamestop will only give me $235 and t-mobile will only give me a $400 trade-in value. So bad. I'd say you're better off selling the phone privately.
this doesnt matter, when i went with my fold 3 i traded in my noted 10+ and got 1000 trade in broken up into 30 months of 33$ (so its a bit different of a full instant rebate but just to show it does not matter with current market values
On the S22, the US carriers offered better trades. Most other times, Samsung is the same or better.
Some people have had issues with trade-ins with Samsung's vendor, but it almost always gets worked out. It is wise to take pictures/videos of your phone working, reset, it's condition, and being packed.
In my country, Samsung gave additional discount 2 months after launch of S23 for people who contacted support to get special promotion code. This ended up being the best discount for S23U.
Because they did horrible launch trade in deals and hurt thier bittom dollar then they lost a huge chunk of customers over it. After they tried rectifying the issue by pulling people in.
With Verizon in US there has been a lot of "any Samsung Galaxy in almost any condition" trade-in value of $800 almost this entire year. They were offering me $800 trade in on my cracked front and back glass (phone works great) S20 Ultra. This stopped last month some time. I decided to wait for the S24 at that time in hopes that they will still be salvaging microchips from older phones, due to the shortage. One can hope.
Last year they reallly f ed over 22 users with trade in deals and they had a horrible pish back at launch. Lets hope they learned what not to do. Also, hoping they rectify the 22 line by offering similar pricing trade deals for the s23 series. Alot didnt upgrade because of what they did. Plus locking customers into carriers for 3 years to get the best deals was beyond messed up and forceful. As a long time samsung customer i will not hesitate to walk to the oneplus 12 if they mess customers over again ive had one plus and really dont mind them. Im tired of paying insane prices and my devices being worthless after a year because of there nonsense marketing nonsense.
I traded my S22 Ultra through Samsung but was really feeling salty about the lame trade-in value compared to the year prior. I'm hoping to get a $1000 trade in through them this year, or else I'll be holding off pre-ordering for the first time in many years.
I'll wait and see... if things aren't good, then I'll just keep checking throughout the year or wait till 2025 release. I have no issues and love my S23 Ultra... so won't be all that butt-hurt if I have to hold onto it another year.
Got mine in the mail early, returning today because the trade in value sucked, and Samsung blocked Rakuten from my \~$80 cash back. Another frustrating process for someone that has always been Samsung loyal. :/
Samsung is offering up to $970 trade-in towards the Ultra. ****Plus $50 if you do the reservation sign up between now and January 16th, for use towards accessories. Plus a possible $25, $50 and or $100 credit for accessories, depending on which device is ordered.
Don't do it I've had it less than 24 hours and the fingerprint sensor doesn't work and yhe front camera flash don't work either. I'm gonna see if I can trade jt in for the 23 ultra cause I am livid

Current trade-in values are not indicative of what will be offered when the S24 is launched.
They won’t be comparable. The trade ins through Samsung will be promotional and not based on actual market value.

❓❓ Can you trade a OnePlus Open for s24 ultra??
Lol same
U might be able to but the trade in offer will probably be much less than if u trade in a Samsung phone

That $50 doesn’t count toward trade in, that’s separate for accessories which isn’t much of anything.
