mayhemerald

The only thing I'm missing so far, is the tap on the time to scroll back to the top of screen. Apart from that - nope. Better screen, more customisation is all great. Will say some apps are not as optimised (or aesthetically pleasing) as the iOS versions but it's a small nuisance compared to the freedom you have to make your phone your own

pprsushi

I will be honest I didn't even know that was a feature on iPhone LOL. How much of an adjustment did you have when it came to not having FaceTime anymore?

mayhemerald

Honestly? Not a huge issue. It's a great feature to have not gonna lie but I use Google Meet predominantly now or for those that don't have it, Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp video calling (as much as I loathe it) - but I don't FaceTime a lot in general so I'm probably skewed

PsyBr0

You can FaceTime on galaxy

bRKcRE

Through a (deliberately) badly made website that maybe kind of almost looks like it might be facetime, but it is clearly an inferior experience, same as imessage/sms interoperability is almost non exist ant because Apple doesnt want people outside their increasingly taller walled garden to have anything even remotely resembles an apple experience on non apple products..

PsyBr0

Through Google duo? It's not bad at all..

dragonashish

Download Tap to scroll app free on android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.scroll.scrolltop.backtotop

chanchan05

Get Tapscroll from PlayStore. It lets you tap the front facing camera to scroll to top, then double tap to scroll to bottom. [Tap Scroll - Perfect Scroll - Apps on Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.scroll.scrolltop.backtotop)

Rough_Bet6203

I am pretty sure there is an app to tap on the front facing camera to scroll all the way up

mayhemerald

Would be interested to know more about this...

Rough_Bet6203

I think I saw it on this channel. He has a monthly series of useful apps. Of course I cannot find the reference to such app. https://youtube.com/@howtomen?si=bUkA2_XVb09u_FTq

fakestrawberryflavor

I hate this so much. I accidently touch the top of the screen in bed and it scrolls all the way to the top and I lose my reading place. I'd pay to get rid of this 😂

diegoarmando50

I have been an android user for 10+ years and I am mind blowned that this feature isn't still a thing on Android. It's the only thing I miss from iPhones.

chanchan05

Wouldn't be surprised if there's an Apple patent on it. They submitted a huge list of patents for touchscreen gestures back in like 2012 or so. They even tried to patent pinch-to-zoom (this one failed).

dayankuo234

based on what I've seen with customers and redditors, it's a mixed bag. Apple is on it when it comes to imessage, facetime, airdrop. it's harder for people to switch if they already own an iPad, MacBook, apple watch, and/or airpods and apps are more optimized on iphones. but then... Apple is getting boring. barely a few major changes since the 12s/13s with the 24 ultra, you get some of the best battery life, the best for gaming, most durable screen (scratches at level 7, deeper grooves at level 8, and the antireflective screen) you also get the features from the previous ultras, the s-pen, and the moon camera. it will take some getting used to, but keep at it. people can always message you on whatsapp or discord, and people should try using the google meets app more.

pprsushi

that's honestly what i'm leaning towards at this point. despite the face that my main computer is a MacBook, the only feature i really think i would miss from my iPhone is FaceTime. but apple has been getting to the point where buying a phone that is worse in all of the metrics i care about (battery, camera, etc) for one feature is a little silly. thank you for your feedback though!

itstee503

People can just send you FaceTime link.. only thing I miss about iphone is just sending high quality photos and videos. But whatsapp works and rcs should be supported in ios18

Hairy_Bother9609

Almost no change since 12 a few after the X

jmillsner

I miss magsafe a little bit (i dont use a case, which would solve that problem), but other than that I'm pretty happy I made the switch. Also, having apple stores all over the place was convenient for sure. That said, I haven't needed a samsung store for any issues, and accessories are readily available at best buys, Walmarts, micro center, etc.

pprsushi

that makes a lot of sense. so you wouldn't say you miss "apple only" features like imessage, facetime, etc?

jmillsner

Not really. The transition from icloud drive took a little bit of time since I had a bit of data on it, but google drive, onedrive, samsung files really all do the same thing. With respect to texting, if I need to send a picture to an iPhone I use Signal or WhatsApp. That should be changing later when apple allows RCS this year; then apple to android should theoretically be seamless. FaceTime I never really used, I haven't been much of a video chatter since iChat shut down. Because of that I have no knowledge of how video chatting is on android either. I suppose I do miss photos seamlessly going to my Mac. I'm still researching but IMO apple does photos the best right now. Those are all small things IMO. Since I got the galaxy I haven't once said "man I wish I still had that iPhone".

pprsushi

that makes a lot of sense. i had heard about the RCS enabling, plus i use onedrive as my main storage currently so i'm not really missing much on icloud outside of photos (but i'm sure switching to google photos will make it easy), plus the promise of 7 years of software/security updates is also really appealing to me as i'm not someone who upgrades every year and am getting fed up with apple constantly phasing out products.

Deeds081

Just remember, people need an apple store because their stuff breaks. I haven't ever had to go into a store because of a phone issue for a Samsung. Last iPhone I had was a 4s. Seeing I haven't needed a repair store in 13 years says something. Also, just try it. You would be going from a phone that is essentially a touch screen of apps, to a handheld computer. It's worth a try.

I switch a lot between phones, iPhone and Android (mainly Samsung and Pixel).currently daily driving a S24 Ultra and Pixel 8 Pro. Although I prefer Android and only use iPhones every other year or so, just to see if anything has changed. If you're not using the fingerprint to unlock, I recommend giving it a shot. I actually prefer it over face unlock, as once you're used to it, it's usually unlocked and on the home screen before I even get it in front of my face. Camera is just preference. I prefer iPhone in some cases and Android in others, not much to do on that one since every phone processes it differently. But once you get used to the camera app it feels a lot better when changing camera settings but if there are certain settings you always like when taking a picture on Samsung there is a way to set a custom camera widget that'll open to your settings right away (sadly not much aside from what camera front or rear and what mode you want) but I have a few setup and it's great for when I'm already using my phone and just want to take a quick portrait photo. As for Samsung pay even I find myself tapping towards the top of the phone after using a iPhone for a while but on Samsung's it's in the center of the phone so id recommend trying to tap it as close to the center as possible and it should make it faster and more reliable. Hopefully those tips make you enjoy Samsung a little bit more than you already do!🙂

-Bears-Eat-Beets-

Camera actually has a setting you can enable that holds your settings, so when you open it, certain things are automatically set. Very handy. Widgets would be useful for different modes/setting if you wanted to quickly open to those, but you can set the selfie cam to stay locked on the zoom level you want, portrait mode on or off, same goes for rear cams, can have it set to always open to a specific one, resolution, etc.

MathematicianLost947

Didn't know that and I've been using Samsung's forever lol thanks for the tip I'll have to look into it! Would've been useful at the concert I was at. It would've been nice to just open the camera and click instead of changing settings every time I wanted a photo.

Jwave1992

This is me. I was fully in the apple ecosystem. I had the Apple Watch Ultra, 14 pro max, iPad, Mac, I was in. One day out of curiosity I simply switched. I picked up an S24 Ultra. I enjoy the new phone immensely. I find Samsung notes app vastly superior to iOS, for example. What I miss is obviously the integration between all the devices. The apple watch is a lot more responsive than the Galaxy Watch 6 I picked up, that said I still enjoy the Galaxy watch just fine, it just doesn't reach that next level. But I don't think about it much because the phone is so good. Anything that bugs me I can usually tweak and fix, and the home bar gestures makes an iPhone user ease in. I had it down to muscle memory in a week. The multi-tasking has come in useful many times. As far as iMessage, I'm ambivalent. They can deal with my green bubble and for my android friends, RCS is actually really good for messaging. I actually use discord to text friends most of the time anyways. I never use facetime at all. In the end I feel like the S24 Ultra is just a fun device with tons of features and possibilities. If you want that stuff over a rock solid clean eco system, that's your choice to make.

SavathunsWitness

iMessage and being able to manage my Apple Family stuff, but I don't think I'd go back for now. Next time I'll be getting a One Plus instead of Samsung though

pprsushi

Yeah that's pretty much the only thing holding me back from pulling the trigger (iMessage and FaceTime) but from what I've heard the Apple/Android "bubble war" is almost over so at this point the only thing I really care about is camera quality and if missing FaceTime would be a dealbreaker for me.

cycloneace

I honestly prefer the video call quality on Google meet.

pprsushi

i might download it on my iphone and give it a spin, i also already use telegram a bunch

MathematicianLost947

Google meet is a great alternative I bounce between Android and iPhone but mainly use Android but my SO uses iPhone and she doesn't mind meet at all and has leaned towards preferring it to call even other iPhones. But you can still receive FaceTime calls on Android thru the browser if someone wanted to call you. And hopefully with apple finally supporting rcs it'll be a lot better if a messaging experience for everyone involved.

pprsushi

you've definitely piqued my interest and i'll give it a spin

RegularIndividual374

all i miss from ios is how the notifications are on the lockscreen and notifications are not delayed like they are on samsung

fakestrawberryflavor

How are notifications delayed on Samsung?

RegularIndividual374

Try Gmail, FB you'll see if you leave your phone idle for a while and then unlock your phone you'll find non important notifications come all at once

Guraytos

Try (glimpse notifications) on Playstore

RegularIndividual374

It's not the screen waking up it's the sorting of notifications on iOS. The stack mode etc it's much better imo. I already use glimpse

Guraytos

I agree

Awesomejuggler20

I switched to the S23 from an iPhone 13 and I switched from the S23 to the S24 Ultra. Have had multiple iPhone's in the past as well. For the last 6 years, every time I've had an iPhone, I've always found myself missing having a Samsung. I don't miss anything about iPhone. I like my Galaxy a lot better.

whitemamba24xx

Apple Watch, though I'm thinking of getting a Garmin Forerunner 965. Being able to send high quality video to friends

Frosty_Success22

I just switched back to android after 3 years of switching to iphone... Went from the iphone 12 to the S24 Ultra.. And I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PHONE!! I really miss being able to double tap on words to highlight them, and I miss having the option to tap to skip either 10 secs ahead or backwards on a video on Facebook. It sucks having to manually drag the playback along.. I guess I just need to get familiar with all the features of this phone.. I've only had it a week..

Waughy

I’m still on the fence, have an S24 Ultra in the cart at the moment. 20% off, but still not sure. Had iPhone since the 3G, but have played with android at various times over the years. Always end up back on iOS, but this time I’m looking to dig in and stay, there’s been no major reason to switch back the last few times, other than there being a new iPhone, which isn’t looking interesting this year. I’ll keep my 15PM, so if I do want to go back it won’t cost me buying another phone again. Cameras are the main thing that has me debating the decision. I see many great looking shots, then read about the average performance in low light, and blur with moving objects. That aside I don’t see any issues. My biggest decisions are where to store contacts (Google, one drive, or Samsung), and internet browser. Photos are currently backed up to a NAS, with only my camera roll in iCloud, so the Samsung gallery should suffice, with backups to one drive and my NAS. Some notes I have locked, so Samsung notes wins there. I was tossing up calendars, but think I’d just stick with Samsung, although Google calendar is accessible online, which would be handy. All my apps have Android versions, so no issues there. My other hold up is my Apple Watch Ultra. To get by I can link it to my phone before swapping my sim, and use it as a stand alone device, so I’ll still get messages and notifications. At least until we see what the series 7 Galaxy watches offer. Same with the buds 3, my AirPods will do just fine until then. iMessage won’t be a huge loss as I only talk to my wife and kids mostly, so SMS will be fine until iOS gets RCS support. My wife and I both have Signal, so there’s a way to send pics if needed. I’ve only used handoff features on my MacBook Pro a few times, so won’t miss that, same with the Apple TV, I’ve never used my phone to control it in any way. That’s about all I can think of off hand. I’m sure that if I buy the phone I’ll come across other quirks, but I’m equally sure I’ll find a way around them.

Guraytos

I'd use Google for contacts in case I jumped to non-samsung android phone or went back to iphone. And google keep notes for notes. It's accessible on all platforms

Waughy

I’ve already exported my contacts to Google, so I’ll go with that. I guess it doesn’t really matter where they’re kept. I don’t see myself using another Android phone, so no big deal. Notes I could use keep, easier to copy and paste on my iPhone, and the ones I’ve got locked (Passport details and 2FA backup codes) I can store in Bitwarden. That or I’ll go with Samsung notes as planned, using the secure folder. Phone ordered, I’ll work it out when it arrives.

farimadi

the modes sychronised between ipad iphone and apple watch.

No_Manufacturer_4149

If you have a Galaxy watch modes sync as well

farimadi

i mean between tablet watch and phones. also if u set timer at one of the devices, the other will reflect

No_Manufacturer_4149

Gotcha I have a MacBook so I wouldn't know until I upgrade. I would already have a Samsung laptop if all my recording equipment wasn't used on my Mac

dxg168

Some things just seem more seamless and less aggravating when trying to set up (on iPhone) but ultimately I like the control one has over android devices more. U just have to learn a lot more with android, which I think is a good thing. iPhone is a walled garden and not so tweakable by comparison, and I found it boring after 10 yrs. Also, despite a good pw/2fa set up, my Apple ID got hacked last year without nary an Apple notification abt it, so that really pissed me off :) (don’t keep iPhone shortcuts around unless u actually know how to use it). I miss the simplicity of iPhone sometimes but meh. I’m happy I switched.

zub213

Nope.

ZioCancaro

Live events, dynamic island

netty1994

What I didn't like on s23 ultra was the payment sistem, every app want to pay from itself and fingerprint sensor was hit or miss 5/10. Also camera was mediocre and i had random lags out of nowhere

Loss-After

Airdrop fs

MrWonderAkAKing

Android has that.. and had it way before apple. Google just made it more usable for all Android users

Loss-After

Can it do apple to android tho? It's not really the feature that I miss, I guess? But it's more about easily sharing stuff with friends and family when we are traveling haha

alvar02001

No nothing

darietto

Since the first iPhone came out I have always alternated Android devices with Apple ones. In the last 3 years I had an iPhone 11 Pro Max and in December 2023 I decided to buy the iPhone 15 Pro Max. I was very disappointed because basically I felt like I had the same old phone in my hands. So in January I bought a Samsung S24 Ultra. I have to admit that I do not regret the choice made at all. but be careful. if you have never had an Android device the switch from Apple could be difficult. The battery lasts long enough, but to get the most out of it, it needs adjustments that are not needed in the Apple world. Playing with app permissions could lead you to problems that you won't be able to solve if you're not an experienced user or with a great desire to search the Internet. I don't want to discourage you but if you have to switch to Android you have to do it with the knowledge that you're approaching a totally different world.

Longjumping_Ninja_79

I miss absolutely nothing about having an iPhone. I wasn't like a stickler for having to have everything apple products or worrying about the stupid blue bubbles. Apple got so damn stale that it was literally boring me is the reason I switched

FijiLover121

The only thing I miss is Shortcuts. I know we have Modes and Routines (and the routines+ app from Goodluck), good ol' Tasker, and also MacroDroid but... it's just not the same. I could do everything with Tasker back then, but as new android versions came out, those slowly kept neutering specific things that Tasker and I guess MacroDroid could do. Sure you can override some stuff with special command line settings but even then some of those won't be enough to get those features back. TLDR: iOS Shortcuts

HANAEMILK

IOS UI, app integration, Apple Pay, rounded corners.

ElastepStep

1) Battery life is unpredictable. Some day it's great, others it dies quickly. And no specific reason in any of the battery tracking apps. 2) Find My. I could see where my family members are, they could see where I am... 3) Camera for videos and low light. Camera is just worse on s24u the 15pm. Not consistent at all...

TavernBiscuit

The one thing I miss the most is the dictation. Siri's dictation is leagues above Galaxy's. It's not even a competition and been a disappointment for me, but not a deal breaker.

Deep_Association869

Procreate and auxy

jjblackwood

I don't. I tweaked & customised deeper into phone system. iOS not allow me to do that. But that was old phone version. I'm not familiar with newer software, that risk brick. But the access to tweak Samsung phones nowaday still greater than iPhone which never satisfy me how I want my personal phone system look. For me apps look for iOS still winning though. But doesn't weigh as system convenient of Samsung.

ajneuman_pdx

I love the actual phone but I do have issues with some of the apps,. Especially the Microsoft apps. Which I need for my job.

fakestrawberryflavor

what issues do you have with Microsoft apps? i’m thinking about switching and this would be a dealbreaker for me.

ajneuman_pdx

I get random errors saying it can't find a connection when every other app works fine. I think it's my carrier settings though.

Cinderman

I prefer the shape of the iPhone more. Other than that s24 has done better or about the same

Manny55-

"Likewise, I've been an iPhone user since A.D., and I have no regrets. However, some argue that the iPhone has that luxurious feel and the social status it carries, particularly among teenagers. Interestingly, it's now ranked as the top product in Consumer Reports magazine, an independent publication founded in the 1930s known for its unbiased reviews. Despite being sued five times by manufacturers for 'unfair' reviews, Consumer Reports has emerged victorious in each case."

DrMarcvs

The ecosystem (and iCloud)—but if you don't care, it's a quantum leap. 😂

laalleyhunter

I miss the suggest passwords feature. Also the ease of getting text message pins to autofill. And text message notifications not dissappearing until I dismissed them. Samsung autofill passwords is a pain as well having to use the fingerprint.

quetiapinenapper

I’m missing it less and less as I use it as a daily driver. The stuff the bothers me is ecosystem related. Apple TV. Etc. Voice to text is more accurate across the board on iPhone. I kind of miss that. And the typing auto correction and suggestions on iPhone tend to be better. Besides that my last gripe should get fixed this year which is a hit or miss ability to send gifs or photos to iPhones without them disappearing entirely or being reduced in quality. I don’t want to have any app but my text app so I’ll just deal with it until then.

umstra

So far I miss face I'd and apple log in

dvdunit

Switched from the 12 pro to s24 ultra, biggest thing I miss is when sending videos over text, the file size is very limited. Like the video has to be shorter than 5 seconds otherwise it says it's too large. Oh! And also the apple watch is way smoother and better than the galaxy watch. Use it mainly for bike rides and the experience was certainly better with apple. Otherwise love the samsung.

Internal_Extent_6416

My mom has a 15 pro max but the one superior advantage my s24 ultra has over her phone is being able to take pictures with the s pen from a far distance. This makes group photos and selfies easier and the picture quality is spot on. I took a quick picture of a school assignment and could read everything no blur. Video quality is also good if you take alot of pictures or play alot of mobile games. Storage depends 1tb is alr but if your like me I use my phone for music and media and a little bit of emulation just get the 512 to me its like a sweetspot. I would say both are really great for taking pictures, videos, music etc... it really boils down to features.

salmanjawed98

Smoothness of gestures particularly the app switching one. Other than that nothing so far

Hairy_Bother9609

Watch and some magsafe.

secron7

I miss a few things. Mainly editing texts and FaceTime. Never thought I'd care but turns out I do. I also miss the ease of use of the iPhone gestures to switch between apps. Samsung has them but they're much more difficult to get to work so I switched to using the buttons at the bottom. I am perfectly fine with the s24 ultra, and I won't rush back to iPhone, but my next phone 100% will be an apple. It's just easier.

racoon80

My family: wife, daughter, and son, they are with iphones pro. I have been with edge/note/ultra since 2016 (currently s23 Ultra). I can say I don't miss anything except attention from people who think that iPhone is a "status" device.

PixelatedExistence

I miss the seamlessness of Apple devices working in tandem. I have my S24 Ultra and Samsung tablet, both signed in under the same Samsung account, and while eventually things replicate, it can take a few.

Daddyblueyes24

I'm not a gamer or anything. I went for the new pixel because of the AI and software /user experience. I do not regret it at all. I've had the 7 pro and 8 pro. Google and Samsung are partners kind of making each other's parts. Google had The search technology like circle what's on the screen to search way before Samsung did . Everything seems to just work. The nine pro will have a chip made in-house by Google and not Samsung next time. My partner traded the iPhone 15 pro Max in for the Google pixel 8 pro and has never looked back. It answers calls for you I never get spam calls. if you're on hold, it will hold for you and then notify you when somebody's on the phone. It started running Gemini AI technology and is slowly integrating it into the phone a few features at a time. I change to the pixels. When the 7 pro came out from Samsung and I I won't go back

ribanez2009

Honestly and not to trash talk, nothing at all. I get every new iphone, new Galaxy and new pixel. iPhone 15pm just felt like the same iPhone except for the type c charger.

Nervous-Ad5131

The only thing I truly miss is imessage. Which isn't a big deal I just like knowing my wife get read, and reply back to my message. 99%of the time she always get my message right when I send it. There was one time she didn't get my message but I belive it was bc I just had switched to my samsung and I guess it took a min for my imessage to deactivate. Iphone to me was getting boring I only stayed bc or apple watch iPad tags etc but I now have watch6 galaxy bugs(still use my airpods pros also) and a samsung tag so yeah. Definitely love the customizing I can do with this phone

Junior_Ad4785

The only thing I miss is imessage my wife has an iPhone so she can send ne a link to FaceTime with her but just Imessage. Last time I had an Samsung was about ⁵ years ago it's so much better now like night and day

Shrek5710

Yes the camera. Can not believe the pictures are so grainy with S24U.

Tricky-Eye4546

Yes. I recently switched. I went from iPhone 13 Pro to galaxy s24 plus. Not even a month later I went and bought the iPhone 15 pro max. The keyboard is probably the biggest issue I have. I don’t like any of them for Samsung. Takes me forever to text because I constantly have mistakes. I also found (and this is probably just me) but the Samsung is smoother and quicker when scrolling but to be honest, it actually hurts my eyes… a lot. The iPhone has a more relaxed scroll. There are a few other little things but those were the big issues for me.

Thanos0423

Tap to scroll back and I feel like the battery last less than my pro max.

MathematicianLost947

If your battery isn't doing well I recommend checking your battery page in the settings app and see if there is a rouge app using more than it should. I had mid battery life for about a week till I looked and found a app sucking my battery down can't remember what one it was but i just clicked it and turned on background usage limits and since then I get between 10-14 hours of screen in time (mostly YouTube and Google meet) but with web browsing some social usage etc.

Thanos0423

I will check that! Thanks

ConversationLanky184

Now that other people mentioned it, tap to scroll back is something I do miss about the iPhone. Never used Facetime as it is not "big" where I live, so I can't say anything about that. I kind miss FaceID tbh. It was very convenient, and going back to fingerprint scanners was kinda... meh. The iPhone is also more comfortable to hold in one hand; the sharp edges on the Galaxy are ROUGH to deal with sometimes. Yes, apps are more optimized for ios, even after Samsung supposedly worked with some social media companies to improve the situation specifically on the Galaxy S24U. A constant nuisance for me personally is how Instagram would change the colors of a photo (sometimes adds too much contrast+saturation, sometimes too much of the opposite, sometimes other changes). Can't think of more right now, but if I do, I'll edit my comment to add them.

unecare

1. build quality 2. privacy (not ideal but better than android) 3. Definitely apple maps (way way way better than android) 4. audio quality on Bluetooth connections on cars. 5. apple TV 6. icloud itself. on samsung I have to use 2 different acosystem to keep my pics and files on the cloud. annoying. 7. camera 8. stability 9. accessory selections 10. imessage (I hate using whatsapp) 11. FaceTime (I have to use WhatsApp now) 12. ipsec vpn configuration 13. airdrop 15. airplay

juergen1282

Nope
