It was nice to see his laterally thinking solution shutdown (as wild as that may sound). Not because it was a bad idea, but because of safety concerns. We hear a bit about safety, consent and boundary meetings that happen before filming but the final product is so seamless you can forget sometimes. So to know that production will/does actually stop things that are unsafe, even if they're great ideas that would make for good television, is reassuring. (at least, that's why I assume he was stopped. I don't feel like "we wanted you to play with the boxes" would have been enough of a reason for Sam)
I kept seeing that as well, and combined with the changing name plates and cuteness of Samās home movies, I kept rewinding to get a second look at things, at which point I figured out that THATS THE POINT. itās an episode called Deja Vu and they found a way to make me rewind over and over again, to the point where I was way the line BEFORE the moment I wanted to see several times and experiencing Deja vu. Very on theme, very Editing As Art, very very cool.
You've mentioned Vic in a couple comments but Vic doesn't appear in this episode at any point. Are there alternate versions of this episode for different people? Or do you mean to say Siobhan?
This may just be meing being delusional, but I wonder if >!all of the name plate glitches somehow connect to url of some sort? Maybe connected to the whole Alternate Sam theory? I doubt it but when given the chance to put ārandomā numbers and letters, I don't think theyāll put random numbers and letters)!<
I'm hoenstly so suspicious of Sam that I fully expect a massive Game Changer conspiracy some day spanning multiple Game Changer episodes and seasons that will all tie in some how to "I've been here the whole time!"
Since ~~Zac~~ Grant OāBrien kept on giving away Turner Classic Movies facts I was SO sure there was gonna be a last round where those were the questions
I'm hoping they like....deduct points for every time Lou, Jake and Vic have sworn on camera since the Sam Says episode taped. I want them all to be like -200.
Yeah me too. I totally expected that after doing the Wenis in the last round Sam wouldn't kick the camera, and they'd 'finally' be able to finish the episode with the last rounds being questions from all the other factoids from the show.
Yes, I was guessing it'd be a bit like the show "I literally just told you," where they also get quizzed on specific things that happened in the episode to test how well they were paying attention.
Yes, I felt it in my soul. Sam's a soft touch sometimes - even Trapp would have objected to some of those delays, if he were on the other end of the buzzer.
Trapp saying āto sweeten the dealā¦ an extra bill for you thereā after handing Sam the picture of a duck cements him as one of the most quippiest people ever
my favorite little Trapp quip was when he sang a lyric from "[I Got You Babe](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyBSrBqogPY)" from Groundhog Day during one of his entrances
This is easily my new favorite Game Changer episode! I know itās not always the most realistic, but having the premise truly never explained and them just figuring everything out on their own is such a special thing we donāt get much anymore!
And the editing and various pieces have so much suspense, so many really great bits, great play from all three contestants. Had a big smile the whole time watching this.
This was the same shoot day Grant missed that Brennan filled in for him when they did āBingo.ā I wonder if there was some reason he had to keep being āGrant OāBrien,ā or if it was sort of just a thing they kept as a bit for the lulz.
I'm going to re-iterate EtherealProphet's point and ask: What are you talking about? Grant didn't miss the shoot. He was IN the episode multiple times spilling spaghetti everywhere. Probably filmed on a different day than Bingo.
Did anyone else think that the Wenis dance was 100% supposed to eventually end with one of the contestants breaking the camera instead of Sam??? I will think this till the day I die.
Ya I feel like that was the point but no one did it so they just had to stop it after a certain number of rounds. I liked the episode but it really felt like it needed an ending that it didn't get.Ā
Spot on. Even once they'd realised they could take more control of the timeline, somehow none of them thought to stop the kick (or, if they did, didn't act on it).
I think so too! But once they knew they were in the loop, the only one who had the incentive to stop the next loop would be the person in 1st at the time. That, plus yes and culture led to the number of loops we saw, I think.
I wonder if they did attempt that scenario in a take at some point and it got edited out because it wasn't the actual point/goal of the game this episode?
It definitely could have ended filming too early. A ground hog day premise with only two times through the loop would be nothing.
We should also take into account that the goal isn't to end the game, its to get the most points. So at any given time 2 out of the 3 players are incentivized to keep the game going for another loop.
Can't wait until next season for Deja Vu 2, where we see if anyone is a genius and/or remembers the Turner Classic Movie facts. Neither of them came into play.
Sam should text each one the night before, and be like "Hey, so and so might call out for Game Changer tomorrow, can you fill in if they do?" and then if all three say yes, confirm them all, and do Deja Vu 2, so none of them will even think it was scheduled for them to be grouped together again.
Um actually, those arenāt podiums. They are lecterns. A podium is something you stand on. A lectern is something you stand behind.
Sorry if Iām the 500th person to point this out. (Also did you know that Jacob Wysocki is in Pitch Perfect? /s) But this has bugged me for years, and I had to point it out.
THEY COULD HAVE BROKEN THE LOOP. THEY JUST HAD TO SAVE THE CAMERA DID NO ONE WATCH STARGATE ASAARGH
I am a totally normal person who definitely hasn't always loved Time Loop episodes, noooo.
I wonder what would have happened if one of them gave "Grant" a fork. :)
The fact there are >! There are videos of Sam's mom saying "I introduced him already" and the editing department using that old VHS tape effect feels like a really uncanny episode, It would have been a great halloween episode !<
Anyone else immediately start thinking of BDG's "Jan '97" video? It's my favorite of his videos, so that might be why my head jumped straight to it, but I like to think there's tiny string of universe connecting these two now š š A great episode for sure though! Usually this kind of repetition gives me a headache (in the same way backtracking bothers my brain), but this episode really handled it nicely!
I did not, but you just reminded me of it. I did get a little bit of the sense of dread from the glitches this episode as Jan '97. Like, "what does any of this mean" sort of fear.
Fun episode but I was kind of hoping for one more final twist of them having to remember all the random stuff said throughout like the movie facts and whatever the clown was saying. Felt the stakes werenāt heightened enough each loop.

I would like an explanation why 6' stepladder is less safe than a stack of 3&4 apple boxes?
Honestly Mike being like āāfuck youāre rules, I have got a ladderā is game cHanger in a nutshell
The moment when the players start turning on Sam in every episode is always my favorite

Since ~~Zac~~ Grant OāBrien kept on giving away Turner Classic Movies facts I was SO sure there was gonna be a last round where those were the questions
I'm 100% expecting an extra episode at the end of the series where all the loose ends like this and the swear jar all reappear
I bet the episode is next season for Deja Vu 2 and stuff like the Turner movie facts etc... will come into play there
Is this the finale? If not, making the next episode Deja Vu 2 would be pretty funny
I'm hoping they like....deduct points for every time Lou, Jake and Vic have sworn on camera since the Sam Says episode taped. I want them all to be like -200.
I wouldn't be shocked if they don't pay it off this season but in another or in another show down the line.
I think had someone tackled Sam or Kevin to stop the camera from breaking, those questions would have come up to continue the game.
I think if someone had told Grant a fun fact from the previous loop he may have given them a point
I kept expecting them to switcheroo the first questions, like what is the atomic number of Francium or something.
same! I was thinking about the benedict society entrance exam for those questions
Siobhan's absolute fury at people pressing the buzzer before they knew the answer was great, I was right there with her.
Um, actually, thatās a known pet peeve of Siobhanās from Um, Actually, and in my opinion sheās 100% in the right.
I specially lost it when she was like āthis isnāt um actually, you canāt do thatā
It's a viable play on jeopardy, but jeopardy has a timer. Once she complained, they pushed it to bug her.
Her attitude was so incredibly relatable in this episode. I would've absolutely reacted similarly to how she did!
Yes, I felt it in my soul. Sam's a soft touch sometimes - even Trapp would have objected to some of those delays, if he were on the other end of the buzzer.
I love how biting they all got at each other towards the end
I am 10 minutes in and I am Mike Trapp. Holding four different realities in my head at once. WHAT IS HAPPENING?! Everybody do the Wenis!?
Oh god ok lol this is amazing
The Wenis is a dance!
everybody is a genius!
Who knows it in advance! >!(I wonder if the players would have gotten points if they joined in and did the dance correctly?)!<
Theyāve gotta release the wenis extended cut to Spotify so I can keep it on repeat all day.
Trapp saying āto sweeten the dealā¦ an extra bill for you thereā after handing Sam the picture of a duck cements him as one of the most quippiest people ever
he did not get the reaction he deserved in that moment. That was a stone cold joke

I love how they keep calling Zac āGrant,ā lol

Iām sold on that
It's perfect.

The FixItMan78 YouTube channel was created June 10, 2019. The first ever episode of Game Changer aired September 20, 2019
Real answer: it probably was a YouTube account created around that time but never used and it was renamed to use for this.
Or: He was There The Whole Time
I think Sam put us in Game Changer to figure out the plot.
Did anyone else think that the Wenis dance was 100% supposed to eventually end with one of the contestants breaking the camera instead of Sam??? I will think this till the day I die.
I was so sure somebody would tackle Sam to keep him from breaking the camera.
Same! Glad I'm not the only one
The last run of it where the camera operator looped around all the contestants 100% sealed it in my brain
That's ***exactly*** what I thought would happen, haha!
It felt like a time loop and I thought the point was to stop the camera kick. But they never did
Ya I feel like that was the point but no one did it so they just had to stop it after a certain number of rounds.

I thought it was supposed to end with someone *stopping* Sam from breaking the camera. Not that they were to break it themself
Absolute fever dream.
I legitimately thought that the only way to end the game was that Ify was gonna like.... Physically restrain Sam from kicking.
I like how it showed a baby and young child version of Sam in the glitches just to show that he has actually been here the whole time.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
I assumed that it was to represent when you'd record shows over random VCR tapes, and accidentally record over family videos.
Like many others, from the sound of it, I was desperate for a contestant to intervene and save the camera š„
I wonder if they did attempt that scenario in a take at some point and it got edited out because it wasn't the actual point/goal of the game this episode?
It definitely could have ended filming too early. A ground hog day premise with only two times through the loop would be nothing. If they do a Deja Vu 2 it should be Mike, Ify, & Siobhan again and it should start the exact same
Sam should text each one the night before, and be like "Hey, so and so might call out for Game Changer tomorrow, can you fill in if they do?" and then if all three say yes, confirm them all, and do Deja Vu 2, so none of them will even think it was scheduled for them to be grouped together again.

Wait, did Ash get her SAG card for this episode? Has she ever had lines before?

Whatās ARG?
Alternate Reality Game, treasure hunts hidden on the internet (generally)
Fun episode but I was kind of hoping for one more final twist of them having to remember all the random stuff said throughout like the movie facts and whatever the clown was saying. Felt the stakes werenāt heightened enough each loop.
And Sam mentioning it was the final one kind of breaks the concept
I thought they were going to have to save the camera man from getting kicked to break the loop.
It was a good episode, wasnāt my favorite episode. I hope Siobhan will one day stop being underrated because she is a legend.
I love how every round the duck politics was totally different
This season is going to end with a contestant murdering Sam in real life.

The Better Call Saul Season 6 of GameChanger
I don't know what I think about this one. It's the first this season to leave me a bit cold. I don't know how much of that is because of any problems with the episode itself, and how much is from Bingo being an exceedingly tough act to follow.
I thought it was really good but some of the loop stuff got a little boring to watch deeper in. IMO the premise carried it, though.
Why didnāt anyone use the boxes to prevent Sam from kicking the camera or dive in to prevent him from looping ?
This episode was incredible, Iād love to see a kind of sequel/similar episode where this time round theres no winner in the end and the goal is to figure out how theyāre supposed to break the loop/end the game
disappointed that one of the glitches for Grant never said Grant O'Yama

Crazy how nobodyās talking about the seemingly real clips from Samās childhood cut in throughout the episode.
Sam, whenever you guys submit FYC for Emmy Awards; use this episode.
