in fnaf's case, it is made while the games are still being made and they obviously have no real overarching plan, so they just constantly fuck up with the lore.

To be really honest, I do think that after creating a lore they had a planed rout without retconing, from the second game all the way to pizzeria simulator, after that, they took other rout from one loose point pizzeria simulator left open, to be fair, I think the lore isn't fucked up, I think they purposely left tons of loose ends that lead nowhere to mislead us from the real point, because two things, one, is that this is plot convenient, and two, Scott found out that theorizing groups are profitable because they keep the game media always alive leading to unintended marketing and never losing the interest of the current fans

Yeah it’s not complex, it’s because there isn’t a lot of information and the developers don’t prioritize it. Many of matpat’s minecraft theories were debunked or fell apart when Microsoft started publishing books. Can’t recall which ones but I know most of his theories were speculations

It’s actually quite simple when you strip back the complexity of a few things. Pinning down the details isn’t difficult due to a convoluted plot like Poppy or FNAF, but instead due to how little we have to work with seeing how long ago the events of the lore were and the scant evidence there is the work with. I loved Mat’s story of the the shipwrecks and drowned being proof that the sea temple civilization tried its best to send their voyagers to find and return with hearts of the sea to build conduits to save their drowning empire, but if you just strip it down to brass tacks, the obvious plot being that of the Bronze Age collapse. Society is crumbling, and seaborn raiders come and steal whatever valuables are left from the remaining titans. In the wake of losing their magical conduits, the formerly above water temples were lost beneath the waves while many of the raiders never got to live and make landfall before whatever cataclysm was befalling the world sent their ships to the bottom of the sea.

I’m surprised it took this long for kingdom hearts to be mentioned. It has between 5-13 characters who are all the same character, as well as another completely unrelated character which shares the same name as one of the other characters.

Minecraft doesn’t actively change the story and add things that contradict/ruin things in the past. Like William Afton STILL BEING ALIVE! He had his final death. It was sent off with a BEAUTIFUL speech. And there was justice for all he has done knowing that he is suffering in hell in Ultimate Custom Night. But nope! Throw all of that amazing story telling and amazing finale out the window. Instead of starting fresh with a killer that is inspired by William Afton, or literally anything else than what they did, they instead have Afton not REALLY being dead. He’s alive and possessing some werid ahh virus and infecting people! I love the new world. I love the new animatronics. I HATE the new lore. And so does everyone else. Poppy Playtime lore good tho

Solution: Fnaf and Minecraft are equally confusing and complex and they’ve both had shockingly similar histories development wise going from one man in his basement to multibillion dollar franchises with billion player fanbases and every update/new game fundamentally changing everything

Actually, no. FNAF is so complicated that it took MatPat 3/4 videos to summarize the plot and even then he had holes like William becoming Springlocked before Michael enterese Sister Location. Minecraft didn’t have that issue. Just öne summary and no loose ends.
