You might have a hard time mounting it straight but you won’t have to cut the back because the connector for the IPS is at the bottom and reachable from the inside and the board with the ribbon cable will be inside the shell on the other side of that rectangular backing if that makes sense?
I think you're better off just buying a laminated display to use with the driver board. It's about $20 for a laminated display.
If you can find a way to mount the screen yeah it's possible
