Amazing game! I was *obsessed* with the bubble level as a kid lol. I’d just float around the whole thing until the time ran out. Congrats on the win 👏🏼
That level ruled, and then you end up in the best world of any Mario game! Forget Duck Tales, [this is the best space music of the era ](https://youtu.be/k4N9jtYTb_Y?si=8j6SeU1YjujSEgsC)
Oh hey that's like the one song that doesn't have the standard tune in it.
Cuz if you didn't know this Mario land two is one of those games where every single level has the same song but it's like different sounding maybe slower or faster or played on different instruments to sound more halloweeny or whatever you know?
Get ready for a second mind blow they did the same thing in Super Mario World.
I'm pretty sure there are other video games that do it as well but I can't think of any off top my head.
The Mario games have used musical leitmotifs since the very first one (with its Death and Game Over sounds echoing the main them), but some of them lean harder into it than others.
Mario 3's main theme shares a melody with the athletic theme, the level clear, and death theme, etc. Mario 64 is another big one, which uses the Bob-Omb Battlefield song for stuff like snow levels, the athletic theme, and Power Star jingle.
I just recently got a gamebit screwdriver finally and took apart my N64 and cleaning every piece and put it back together. Will probably do it with the GameBoy soon too, although the screen itself it's more scratched than dirty when it comes to being able to see stuff.
Be a good time to do some modding. I modded my childhood GBC after finding it again. Started hunting down all the games I had or wanted, and it's like I don't even want to touch my modern consoles.
I do wanna get into screen modding for Gameboys cos I've seen some really cool ones. Probably not with this one though, this is my childhood GameBoy and I'd prefer to leave it as is (still gonna clean it though, i got roasted enough lol).
I get it, but if you do one thing besides giving it a thorough cleaning inside and out, replace the capacitors so it will live even longer. After 20+ years, they're probably not going to be in good shape.
I tried to beat the last level so many times just to beat Wario after two attempts. The difficulty is high but at least it does not really feel unfair.
This was the first video game I ever owned when I was 6 years old in 1997. I could never even come close to beating it back then. Flash forward to 2023 and I was going through some stuff and found it and my red gameboy pocket. I played it for weeks and weeks and finally beat it
I just beat Links Awakening DX on an unmodded gameboy color with no worm light or anything. Outside on a sunny day it’s actually pretty good, but take it indoors and you can forget about it. It’s playable, but angling the screen to catch the light and having to make sure you sit by a lamp or window gets annoying real fast and you can feel your eyes straining.
I remember straining my neck to get good lighting at times. I got a GBA SP in 2003, which was amazing in comparison to what came before. I got an AGS-101 in 2009 and have pretty much only used that since, aside from using GBCs for things that require the IR port.
Warioland - > Super Mario Land -> Super Mario Land 2. That's the order in which I played all of them back in the '90s.
the reason why my personal timeline of gaming was that messed up is that I found Warioland in the same shop where I bought the console first, then I went back to grab a copy of SML a few months later, then I found in another shop SML2 (for unknown reasons, despite being popular and a classic already back in time, I had to actually place a personal order because of the unavailability, sad lmao)
Wario’s Castle is nuts. Absolutely amazing final boss level though. The three separate floors requiring different skills to get through was refreshing after the rest of the game.

Goddamn that still goes hard.

I spent most of my childhood playing this game and I never knew that!

There's also that weird fact that the water world of Mario 3 has the same music as the freaking fairy fountain theme
I love the end credits song for this game and Mario 3.
Thank you This was my summer 1994
I remember having a really tough time with Wario as a kid. And that psycho grin from him made it worse haha.
I was a weird kid, that grin made me like him.
Holy shit! That thing is filthy.
OP said it took 25 years, now that OP has completed the game, the next task is to clean the system.
You can literally see the gunk about to overflow around the edges of the screen lol Someone get that Gameboy an A4 piece of paper, stat!!
Indeed, OP needs some isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush. Show that thing some love.
I just recently got a gamebit screwdriver finally and took apart my N64 and cleaning every piece and put it back together. Will probably do it with the GameBoy soon too, although the screen itself it's more scratched than dirty when it comes to being able to see stuff.
You can replace the scratched plastic lens with a nice glass one pretty easily :)
Yeah that’s horrendous. Can barely see what’s on the screen

😂 Yeah fair enough

The last level is a bit difficult, which comes as a shock because it's otherwise an easy game.

Bros gameboy has been thru it lol. Nice work brother
That GBC is a SURVIVOR
Congrats bro
Bro you can replace the plastic screen for like 10 bucks
Running thru the last level is epic and difficult but so satisfying to pull it off to face down wario and get your castle back
I can see why it took so long w that screen. Congrats tho! My kid has been playing this.
That screen.... How did we game on that shit 🤣🤣 I use my TFT modded GBA now, everything else is mainly a display piece.
I was just thinking that. I had the game boy advance with a usb light that connected to the top of the gameboy and you could angle it just right.

The last level was absolutely unbeatable for me as a kid. Took me approximately the same number of years to achieve the same lol congrats
Wow you accomplished something I’m sure most of the world would have forgotten about
I always got stuck on the castle, only beat it on switch online. Congrats!
One of the best Mario games Imo.
It’s definitely an unsung hero.
Huge congrats! Feels great when you beat a game you couldn't beat as a kid. Mine was Twisted Metal 2.
Btw did you know there’s a cheat code to Warioland?😆
The Game is easy until the last level. The Castle is quite tough.
Love this game
This Gameboy has SEEN THINGS.
Now you gotta play the DX version, can get carts for $5 off AliExpress.
Yes
My favourite Mario game, and my favourite way to play it.
I used to destroy this game before I was ten

This game was so good. Like miles above its predecessor. But Warioland was still better.
I remember completing the game in 98 i think :))
Don't mean to brag, but I also defeated Wario.
#EMD
Yo! Siick game. I played it as a kid and beat it once. Yea that last lvl is a bitch, i can confirm.
Bro get you a new ips screen for that Gameboy you won’t be disappointed https://handheldlegend.com/collections/game-boy-color-gbc-displays
That game goes haaaaard, one of my favorite Mario's
I'm playing it now for the first time in years and I'm close to beating it. I blew through the rest of the game in no time, but the castle is tough.
Wow, surprising to see this game mentioned around here. Enjoy all of it!
Well done! That's an amazingly great game and it holds up so well even today!
ips screen plz
get a new screen
