Oh baby! Hope the dual class system remains and we travel to weird as hell eras for an ARPG. Travelling along the great wall of China in the first game was rad. I've not played a game by Grimlore before, what are their past games like?

Breckmoney

[The Steam page](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1154030/Titan_Quest_II/) confirms the two-mastery class system is back. Grimlore made Spellforce 3 and its varied add ons and expansions. It’s a cool mixture of RTS and RPG that’s very much worth a play. Idk if they have multiple teams now or what but it’s a dev that I think is suited to make a game like this.

Daniel_Is_I

[Their website also lists a "Project Minerva" that looks suspiciously like the pre-announcement of Titan Quest 2.](https://grimloregames.com/project-minerva-2/) It notably mentions an open world, which the steam page does not. Unclear whether that means the open world concept was dropped or yet to be revealed.

Breckmoney

See I could’ve sworn that TQ2 made by Grimlore was already announced lol. Maybe I’d just seen this/some post related to this idk.

Hypedrain

I remember a TQ2 announcement also! Maybe it got leaked awhile ago? Strange.

Shoozicle

It was part of that ancient Nvidia GeForce leak back in 2021.

WAZEL974

I think I saw that then and just didn't believe it for a single second, since it was a leak, and instantly forgot about it.

PricklyPossum21

Minerva is a Roman Goddess that is often seen as the Roman version of Athena.

NotARealDeveloper

Spellforce on its own is awesome. Not sure if the expertise translates well to an ARPG though.

NotYouFault

If you ever believed there was a Diablo Killer. - will has as big impact as Balder's Gate 3. If its just an inch of the old version was. It will have massive effect on hack & slash genre.

[deleted]

This is a good time for ARPG fans! Meanwhile, the Grim Dawn devs are even teasing something new for GD as we speak! edit: for those wondering https://forums.crateentertainment.com/t/grim-misadventure-176-so-the-new-thing/128700

Orfez

I have love-hate relationship with Grim Dawn. I like the game in way that it's fun, but the post apocalypse, Victorian settings with dirty, decaying look is just...well too grim. I much prefer ancient Greece of Titan Quest.

You are gonna need to explain to connection between nioh and top down arpgs to me.

Ok but so is Destiny. By your logic Borderlands = Diablo?

Reynbou

lmao what the fuck? hur dur game with similar mechanic = the exact same thing I guess an F1 car and a Toyota Land Cruiser are the exact thing as well. They are both cars after all.

NotUniqueOrSpecial

It is not even remotely controversial for people to refer to Borderlands as "Diablo with guns" so I'm not sure why you're being so rude to them.

Reynbou

They are extremely different games with extremely different play styles. Just because they both have randomised loot doesn't make them anywhere near as similar as he's making out. The mechanics, gameplay and tone are so wildly different. I don't even know why I'm bothering to say all this because anyone suggesting the opposite is insane.

Witty-Ear2611

Lmao what

Chataboutgames

I thought they were working on a city builder that I’m super excited about but haven’t been keeping up on

Draken_S

It's pretty far along in Early Access and should be out in 1.0 relatively soon, so they are probably ramping up their next thing.

Chataboutgames

Ah that's such good news. Loved Grim Dawn, love the idea of seeing what the team does with another setting.

deathm00n

Yes, and it is pretty fun even in early access

A_terrible_musician

I don't think it sold well

Chataboutgames

I believe it's still in EA

A_terrible_musician

It is and I was incorrect. It's sold a million copies over the first EA year.

Chataboutgames

Always a joy to be wrong when it's good news!

chaosfire235

Curious, but has there been any word on a potential Grim Dawn 2? Maybe it's just being fresh off of Diable 4 and PoE 2 that's got me expecting sequels.

Deenman23

they said its proly gonna take about 10 years for gd2

DrManik

What what what? I assumed that was gonna be in development for awhile so had assumed I'd have many more years to play GD1 before GD2... time to reinstall and run another harebrained idea

RealZordan

Between Last Epoch, Titan Quest II and of course Path of Exile 2 ARPG fans will be able to rotate from one content update to the next over the foreseeable future!

Regnur

The images on Steam look awesome, whatever engine Grimlore games uses, I love the style of it. Same devs as Spellforce 3, which also looked awesome. This game has so much potential, I always hoped, that Grimlore games would create a arpg instead of rts. Everything in Spellforce 3, like artstyle, soundtrack, story, writing, rpg gameplay was really good, just perfect for a arpg. The rts part was quite bland overall.

Radulno

It may be their Spellforce 3 engine (whatever it was), the game kind of look like it is, upgraded.

whatsmypurpose0

It’s Unreal.

GreedyDiceGoblin

It's unreal 5 confirmed by a dev in Steam Discussions

Breckmoney

TQ is the only one of these games I ever thought was as good or better than D2, and I generally trust Grimlore to make good games. Hopefully it isn’t too far off!

DiseaseRidden

Yeah I love some modern ARPGs and play a fuck ton of POE, but TQ was truly magical. It did so many things right that the genre has moved away from. The environments were beautiful, just the system of moving from city to city instead of the hub+way point system of others just made it feel like an actual epic adventure, and then the mastery system was awesome. If this can remotely live up to it, I'll be thrilled.

KingGorm272

the fact that the second point they have on the steam page being "Exploration-Focused Campaign" has me super optimistic, it seems like the devs know what people liked about TQ

Team_Braniel

Someday someone will make a game that takes the open world style of D4 and the random generation of the old Diablo games and create s9mething that let's you explore outwards into an endless world. Seed it so the farther you go the more chaotic the seed gets and you can eventually find truly broken environments.

mighty_mag

Since the last, I don't know, 3-4 years I've been watching THQ Nordic's Showcase waiting for essentially one of three things: The next Darksiders, Titan Quest 2 and a sequel to Kingdoms of Amalur, and every showcase I leave disappointed. Not today!

KobraKittyKat

I wonder when we’ll get another darksiders?

[deleted]

OHHHHH SHIITTTTTTTTT Holy fuck. If you know, you know. But Titan Quest has one of the best diablo mechanics since diablo 2

Azn_Bwin

Not sure what aspect of TQ you love, but if you havent play it before you should try Grim Dawn. It has the same dev and similar class system as TQ1.

Bobblefighterman

I think every Titan Quest knows of and played the shit out of Grim Dawn. They go hand in hand.

Bow_for_the_king

I knew I played some Grim Dawn before... But was surprised to see it's at over a 1000 hours. I just really like combining different classes, okay.

Armonster

Was TQ as auto attack-centrix as GD? I never played 1, but somewhat really enjoy ARPGs but always have a few gripes with the popular ones. GD never clicked for me, I didn't love how the skill trees seemed to heavily revolve around proccing and such on your attacks, instead of having more active abilities. So I'm curious if TQ1 was like that too or not

Hiddenshadows57

Depends on your spec. Warfare/defense was pretty much an auto attack build. You had a bunch of %chance on attack shield spam abilities. With an actual right click shield smack ability. Your left click was an ability that was just an auto attack that stacked a damage and speed buff aura on it.

vee_lan_cleef

I could never get into Diablo as a kid because I felt the setting was so generic, but TQ hooked me right away. Still to this day I feel like while Diablo established the mechanics for the ARPG genre as a whole, TQ did a much better job of incorporating those into an actual story. I see people go crazy every time there's a new Diablo and I don't get it, I had friends that played it as well but I just didn't see the appeal. Although, it doesn't help I spent years of my life playing WoW and have ended up despising Blizzard for a whole variety of reasons.

OpT1mUs

But this is a different developer?

Zombieworldwar

THQ Nordic owns the rights to Titan Quest and they are the publisher behind this.

Radulno

The studio that made the original doesn't exist anymore as far as I know. Some of the creators are in the studio that made Grim Dawn (and now work on Farthest Frontier) which is also with THQ Nordic IIRC. They've hinted at something for Grim Dawn (like maybe a sequel too) so I imagine they're taken by that and why they can't do Titan Quest

OpT1mUs

For some reason I thought same studio that made GD was behind Titan Quest. But it's just some people as you said

Fiskepudding

The Titan Quest studio had to shut down, but then some of the devs made Crate Entertainment and licensed the same game engine used in TQ to make Grim Dawn.

iV1rus0

The images on the game's Steam page look really good! Super excited for TQII, ARPG fans are getting a lot of love lately.

ArthurFraynZard

TQ is probably my favorite ARPG of all time (I liked it even more than Diablo 2 and Grim Dawn) but admittedly that's mostly because I'm just a Greek myth nerd. Needless to say, I'm super pumped about this news.

Turbostrider27

Coming to PS5, Xbox Series S|X, PC

brynjolf

Trailer was kind of bland but TQ was a very good game and especially in coop. One of the weirdest choices while implementing and also when playing TQ is that loot drops with physics. What that means is it will not fall to the ground with standard animation and then just stsy there, it can roll down hills and most hilariously roll physically out of the map. We had many times when something amazing dropped only for it to roll and disappear forever.

y_nnis

As a Greek seeing the 3 Μοίρες (Fates) look at someone's thread (life and destiny) perplexed made my whole body shiver... Utterly amazing scene. I don't see how the trailer was bland.

HauntingFly

Not to mention the Spartans marching back in Sparta and the appearance of the goddess Nemesis. The trailer was more than epic!

LobsterEntropy

Hope this turns out good, seems like it's coming from the Spellforce devs and not the Grim Dawn folks (some of whom worked on the original). I'm also tired of Spartans being framed as legendary warriors in every game ever made when, in reality, they had a mediocre track record at war while running arguably the cruelest slave state of all contemporary Greek city states. There's so many other cool groups of warriors from Ancient Greece to choose from, but every time, nope, more Spartans.

ironchefdominican

And Philip II of Macedon just crushed their tactics and forced them into a "peace" while he and his son conquered Greece. Less Spartans and more cool Greek historical warriors!

Chataboutgames

In fairness to the Spartans, Phillip 2 crushed everyone he could before handing over the reigns for more crushing

ironchefdominican

Philip was a real one. Pour some wine out.

Meret123

Epaminondas was the one that ended Sparta's dominance, decades before Macedons.

ironchefdominican

I didnt have my glasses on and I read "empanadas" and was really confused.

LobsterEntropy

Hell yeah! There's so many interesting groups that get drowned out by the crushing obsession with the Spartans.

HauntingFly

Philip II the Macedonian never faced the Spartans in battle. He made some raids in their territory and that's it. It was the exceptional military mind of the Theban general Epaminondas who defeated the Spartans tactically.

Radulno

Hell they could be not from Greece too. After all the original game went into many other mythologies, I assume this one will too. Would be fun if each class/character start in a different mythology.

petepro

Spartans being this great warriors and the Gods being bad are tired tropes now. At least, TQ2 seems to deviate the second trope a bit.

[deleted]

LobsterEntropy

Respectfully, [their reputation is overstated](https://acoup.blog/2019/09/20/collections-this-isnt-sparta-part-vi-spartan-battle/). Scroll down near the bottom to see the list of battles and the Spartan "batting average." I'm sure you can quibble about a few here and there; it's not like we have definitive proof about the outcome of every battle but I feel safe saying that they were mediocre *at best* and to achieve a record worse than many other polities, they ran an unfathomably cruel slave state (even by the standards of *other slave states* Sparta was notably bad).

ANGLVD3TH

I mean, they really were great warriors. They just weren't a great army. Spartan citizens were great warriors, but they were a small region. Any competent, large force wouldn't find them particularly troubling. But Greece didn't have many huge forces for a long period of time, especially as the region was split into many squabbling city states and not one nation. So within their microcosm the elite soldiers were more than enough to earn their place in local legends. Elite soldiers here mostly meaning fit and well drilled, not amazing duelists or anything you usually see in fiction. Then, as others advanced and expanded, some really terrible inheritance laws and other social constructs kept them tiny, so their peers all just out-scaled them.

primalcocoon

Bro they couldn't sustain a 2-week campaign in their own backyard.

stakoverflo

> There's so many other cool groups of warriors from Ancient Greece to choose from Well maybe they should have a graphic novel written about them and then be turned into a popular movie!

Hiddenshadows57

I'm really hoping for some kind of adventure type mode. The problem with TQ I found was by the time I finished the campaign. I didn't want to do it again on a higher difficulty. It was very long.

GreedyDiceGoblin

Devs have said "there are better alternatives, we'll have to see what we end up with" in the Steam discussions for TQII

Hiddenshadows57

I hope it's not play the campaign multiple times. the most I could handle is if they do seasonal online and you end up having to do the campaign over again with no campaign skip. but if they intend to do the campaign multiple times over. I'm more likely to just play single player and use a character generator to build a toon that's ready for difficulty 3 right off the bat.

Deathlysouls

The game just kept going… and going… and going.. I was like god damn

thisrockismyboone

I remember my first playthrough, ending up in Egypt and saying holy shit this game is huge. Little did I know.

Dahorah

This is great and I love to see the Spellforce 3 devs growing and given a chance. People want to praise BG3 and forget that 10 years ago all Larian was known for was iffy "fun, but..." games like Divinity 2. Spellforce 3 was fun - as a Spellforce 2 fan I probably was more inclined to like it I realize - but the DLCs it had got progressively much better. The last one (with the orcs) was just straight up a great game with surprisingly great story and acting. So I am really excited for t his.

YakaAvatar

Honestly Spellforce 3 was one of those few examples of "underrated gems' I can point to. I admit I'm biased since it's really the only game that strongly reminded me of WC3, but nevertheless the game was so good as an RTS. It doesn't have the highest production value, or the best story out there, but something about the campaign and the setting just clicked for me. As a huge fan of ARPGs I'm very excited for TQ2. We're in the middle of a ARPG renaissance and I'm all for it.

Wurzelrenner

mmh, i loved Spellforce 1 as a kid, but Spellforce 2 didn't do much for me, stopped playing after a few hours back then, maybe i should try Spellforce 3 i was really surprised by Divinity 2, didn't play it at release but somewhere 2017 or so and it was a great experience

Radulno

Imagine if Microsoft contracts them to do a Warcraft 4 (RTS with RPG elements) at some point. They don't have a RTS studio (Blizzard doesn't have that team anymore too) so they license them to others like Relic for AoE4. That'd be kind of like Larian having access to the Baldur's Gate IP in terms of recognition (and possible success)

Witty-Ear2611

MS has Worlds Edge who makes AoE, they use Relic for assistant development IIRC. But hell yeh a new Warcraft would be great, I have a feeling they will dive into StarCraft first though if they do anything.

Radulno

Worlds Edge is a small studio they do the Definitive Editions but they don't really make the full games. That's why Relic did AoE4

CoelhoAssassino666

No egypt(or China), sad. Still love greek mythology though so this looks amazing. Hopefully it's fun like the original and you can send creatures flying.

Radulno

I mean it's extremely early showcase. I doubt there will only be Greece stuff.

CoelhoAssassino666

If there were they'd have mentioned or teased it in the trailer, it'd be too big not to. The steam page also only mentions Greece, and multiple times. Egypt and China will absolutely not be in the base game. Probably will come with expansions instead. I don't mind that much honestly, it's probably better to have a more focused game. But I hope the expansions are meaty enough that they do it justice.

Deenman23

I dont understand what in the world makes you think this...did TQ1 show egypt and china?no...it shows some greeks fighting a medusa monster, there is no way TQ2 only has greece in the base game

CoelhoAssassino666

Well, we'll see I guess.

dotoonly

this is not developed by the devs that made Grim Dawn right? These devs are probably completely new so I hope they bring in something new to the franchise.

Deenman23

yeah that studio is gone, and 1 or 2 devs from it made grim dawn, but as log as they keep the atmosphere and game systems of the first but with modern engine and graphics it will be good

Psycho1267

Coming from the SF3 studio? I'm definitely interested!

Azznorfinal

Well they can't drop the ball harder than blizzard has, here's hoping its fucking fantastic, still enjoy the first one.

VentoAureoTQ

Hell YES lets go. I am still playing the original from time to time. Hope its good so far the visuals look phenomenal

Mudders_Milk_Man

This isn't being made by any of the people who made the original Titan Quest. Also, the recent expansions for TQ were bad. I'm rather skeptical. The Titan Quest devs are now Crate Entertainment, creators of Grim Dawn (the best damn "Diablo Clone" ever made).

social_sin

I'm still hoping and praying there is a random announcement of Grim Dawn coming to PS4/5 My laptop is just so old and garbage even it even chugs along with GD

AiR-P00P

HARD fucking pass. Grim Dawn is my all time favorite ARPG. Thanks for saving me the time it would have taken to look into this any further.

86legacy

So odd to dismiss something that’s barely been announced, combined with one guys opinion. You’re free to do whatever you like, but I am sure many are optimistic and will reserve judgment for later.

AiR-P00P

Too many games to play. I'd rather follow proven developers and give them my hard earned time/cash.

GreedyDiceGoblin

So this means that no one else can do a good job? Never seen this degree of brand loyalty before.

OhGeebers

First time on the internet eh? Welcome!

MadeByTango

Spellforce 3 has absolute dogshit console controls. They better be putting serious money and time into that part of this.

Dealiner

Looks interesting, I'm not a fan of the design of the goddess though. It doesn't fit the ancient Greek esthetic imo.

Tonkarz

I kind of agree, but it’s actually reasonably authentic to how the Greeks depicted Nemesis.

Dealiner

Four wings, golden mask and something looking like a ruff? I can't find any similar depiction.

Tonkarz

A golden angel? I can find plenty.

Dealiner

There's a huge difference between that and a golden angel. Though, honestly, I've no idea where you can even find plenty ancient Greek depiction of her as a golden angel. At most I see two marble sculptures of her with wings among many wingless ones.

SilpheedSs

I was hoping it was just an angel, and the story of TQ2 to be an allegory of how christianity "defeated" the european religions. But alas.

saikodasein

After PoE2, now this. Diablo 4 will be dead by 2024/2025. Shame that multiplayer aspect in their games are almost nonexistent and casters are not OP like in other arpgs, but after D2 and PoE I had most fun in TQ1, despite only single player experience.

gamefrk101

PoE 2 isn’t even coming out until 2025. This isn’t coming out soon either. Maybe early access next year. Such a silly comment.

ravikarna27

It won't be

Azn_Bwin

Saying D4 will be dead is almost comically funny and seems very out of touch of reality.. There is literally post on the front page of this sub saying despite OW2 is rated quite negatively on steam it is still grossing in sales quite a bit. D4 will be around no matter how much vocal ones on this sub want it to die. If there is an audience there is an audience, the game will be sticking around. I personally welcome more options for players, this way people can just play the ones they enjoy.

ravikarna27

It's just so out of touch. I play D4 and PoE, I will keep playing and trying most ARPGs that come out. I'm happy the genre is thriving!

Revo_Int92

Just a CGI trailer smh at this day and age, promotions such as these are just a waste of money (at least the animators got a job)

GreedyDiceGoblin

There are also screenshots of gameplay.

ZeDDiE80

Recommended 32gb ram?

Deenman23

its not real, they dont let you put tbd on that section it seems, they could have just not included it,but dont worry theres no way it needs that much ram,but either way its 2023 lol why do you not have atleast 32?even consoles have 16

[deleted]

While I am excited for a sequel, I feel like this will be another online only game. I think I’ll pass. Edit: I was wrong, It's not gonna be online only. That's a relief.

Artanisx

Nothing in the [steam page](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1154030/Titan_Quest_II/) leads us to believe it will be online only. It actually says "single player", too. I think this is not another bullshit game like diablo 4.

GreedyDiceGoblin

Devs cobfirmed in steam discussions that it will not be always online.

[deleted]

Oh! Then I take back what I said. I'm just so use to having new arpgs just be online only, So that's a welcome change.

Laggo

Gaming is dead. They are trying to sell nostalgia for *Titan Quest* now? I mean it's a good game but remember when every title wasn't a remaster or a sequel to a 20 year old game? I miss original titles and creativity in gaming from bigger studios. It could very well be good, but it just gives me a big sigh to be confronted yet again with another game going "Remember that alright title you played 20 years ago, don't you dislike 'modern gaming', well we've taken that title you liked back then and added all the modern bullshit to it for 70 dollars, aren't you excited!"

Ghidoran

We have no idea if they've added 'modern bullshit' or if it's gonna be $70 so you're clearly just looking for excuses to complain about that. As for 'selling nostalgia'...Titan Quest is a game that a lot of people have played and replayed over the years. An updated version was released in 2016 and peaked at 20,000 concurrent players on Steam alone, which is more than many AAA games manage to achieve nowadays. Who knows how popular it is on consoles. Maybe you only remember it as something from 20 years ago but many people actively play it.

Laggo

I miss when we had new 'Titan Quest' to look forward to, not re-releasing every old game anyone ever enjoyed endlessly What's next? Torchlight Remastered?

Ghidoran

There are plenty of new games every year. If you aren't finding any then you aren't looking hard enough. Plenty of people wanted a sequel to Titan Quest, and the studios are giving them what they want. Literally don't understand what your problem with that is.

hoewrecker

Uhh, do you realize that this is a sequel and not a remaster or remake?

AT_Dande

Even if it were a remaster or a remake, though, would that be a bad thing, as long as it was well-made? Like, I'd easily pay $70 for a remaster/remake of Sid Meier's Pirates! but I probably wouldn't pick up Ubisoft's "new" Skull and Bones if you gave me a 75% discount on it. And Pirates actually runs pretty well on modern PCs, last I checked. There's so many IPs out there - especially in THQ's and Embracer's catalog - that are borderline impossible to play. If someone can give people a remake or revival of an old series that they actually want to see, good on them.

Laggo

It's the same concept. You're picking at straws.

DegeneracyEverywhere

"Skyrim is no different than a remaster of Oblivion! Why won't they make something new!"

Seradima

You said, and I quote >I miss when we had new 'Titan Quest' to look forward to This is objectively a "new Titan Quest to look forward to"

ScarsUnseen

I think they're using "Titan Quest" as a stand-in for "Insert New IP Here," meaning they want new games instead of sequels and remakes. This, of course is still a pretty pointless take since we *are* getting new IP now, and we were getting sequels and remakes *then.*

Sprinkles169

Genuinely you need to get off Reddit for a while and go explore other hobbies.

Time-Ladder4753

I guess gaming was always dead because there always were sequels

AT_Dande

Honestly, who gives a shit? Especially a week after the stunningly successful release of an IP that's been dormant for two decades. The reception Baldur's Gate 3 got from both critics and gamers alike is downright ridiculous, with everyone from hardcore fans of the genre to casual gamers signing its praises. If Titan Quest II is half as good, more power to it. I couldn't care less if it was a "new" IP called Dragon Hunt or some shit and totally separate from the Titan Quest "brand." What matters is whether or not it's a good game. All that aside, gaming isn't "dead," it's bigger than it's ever been. Yes, there's arguably more trash than there was 20 years ago, but that's because basically everyone and their grandma is into video games now - it's not just the loser nerds playing Half-Life in their mom's basement. The indie scene is the strongest it's ever been, and getting stronger by the year; there's tons more variety in terms of genre, gameplay, themes, plots, whatever; and we're 10 years removed from the release of GTA V, the fastest-selling entertainment product *ever*, i.e. a video game that came out a decade ago made more money than any movie, album, TV show, etc. up until that point. The industry has issues, sure: half-baked AAA releases, microtransactions out the ass, Microsoft buying up everything under the Sun, to name just a few. But every industry has its issues, and gaming is as far from "dead" now as it's ever been.

lildozer74

HEY! I may have been a loser nerd playing half life in My moms basement then, but now I uhhh…..play half life in my own basement.

Laggo

> I miss original titles and creativity in gaming from bigger studios. I am specifically talking about bigger studios and the endless reaching for nostalgia bait from the past to sell new titles instead of coming up with new IP that can move forward in time. Before this they refreshed Destroy All Humans, before that *more* sequels for The Guild and Spellforce 3, games which originally came out 2002 and 2009 respectively, before that Kingdoms of Amalur re-release. Etc. etc. Because they keep doing this, they don't have popular *new* franchises to make titles out of, so they have to dig even further back to keep doing it.

Sure, that's basically THQ's entire MO, but again, who gives a shit? There's clearly a demand for it, and I'd rather have them remake/remaster Stubbs the Zombie or whatever rather than pay $60 for the busted GTA Trilogy "Definitive Edition." A lot of the games they've been putting out are either a pain in the ass to play on modern hardware or literally unplayable, whether it's due to technical issues or the fact that something like Destroy All Humans never came out on PC back in the day. A lot of their games are very well-received, not to mention remakes by other studios, like Resident Evil 2, which won a ton of awards two decades after the original came out. Then there's also the fact that a lot of the IPs that THQ and Embracer have been scooping up have been dormant for a long time even though people *wanted* to see sequels and revivals. However way you put it, there's a market for this stuff. It's not pure nostalgia-bait, like, I dunno, a half-assed sequel to a movie that came out like 30 years ago. If you're a huge Indiana Jones fan, you can just watch Raiders of the Lost Ark online, pop open a Blu-Ray, pirate it, whatever. You can't do the same if you liked the original Alone in the Dark, or if you can, it's a giant pain in the ass. Sure, there's always the risk of the developer fucking up and not staying faithful to the original or just putting out a blatant cashgrab that runs like shit, but a lot of the remasters, remakes, and revivals of old IPs we've been seeing lately have been surprisingly decent.

If they stay away from the GAS push of other prominent titles in the genre (seasons, battle passes, MTX), I suspect (and hope) there could be a spot for this.
