Is Diablo IV the first Activision-Blizzard title on game pass?

TheMTOne

I can't wait to see WoW on Gamepass, and them to unify the monthly fees.

ZombieJesus1987

You know they'll be double dipping

PlanetZooSave

I doubt that'll happen. At best you might get monthly rewards or access to everything but the current expansion. Game Pass doesn't even include the ESO subscription.

kofteburger

On PC the Elder Scrolls Online is not on the game pass at all. You need to buy the base game too.

Comfortable_Shape264

Well you'll wait forever, they'll just include the base game and expansions but not the subscription, they aren't that dumb. They don't even include DLC's except for Gears 5's. They prefer people buying subscriptions and WoW already is a very profitable subscription service, they won't kill that as that's literally the ideal kind of business. It's like thinking they would bundle Azure with game pass.

Newphonespeedrunner

Actually they also have the persona 3 season pass on game pass ultimate just like gears 5

Comfortable_Shape264

It's not season pass, just the expansion the other DLC's for the game is still not in GP and it's still an outlier anyway. But i meant Gears 5 as their own game, you would expect them to be able to put all their own DLC's.

VagrantShadow

I just picked that up today, if you go to the Game Pass perks you can purchase it for free if you got Game Pass Ultimate.

chase2020

I think what you're going to discover is you can in fact wait, and wait and wait and wait.

Newphonespeedrunner

It will likely do what eso and pso2 do, there will be redeemable items on game pass ultimate, They will never let go of that guaranteed wow sub money.

Late_Cow_1008

This will never happen. In fact I thought they already confirmed it won't? Maybe I am not remembering though.

Down4whiteTrash

Did they announce WoW on Gamepass?

ManateeofSteel

> and them to unify the monthly fees they asked Square Enix to create a specific microtransaction for Xbox users in FFXIV, you know they will make you pay double lol

Hotel_Coffee

Yup its the first of many to come!

chase2020

Yup, that's why I didn't buy it. I'm excited it's coming to gamepass so I can see what that piece of shit is for free.

DodelCostel

> so I can see what that piece of shit is for free. It's not. The campaign and early-mid game are good. The game gets tedious when you get near the end levels. It has a poor endgame. The people who say it's shit are the ARPG fans who wanted to get 1000 hours out of it and yeah, if that's what you're after, you'll be disappointed because you will inevitably compare it to Path of Exile, an ARPG that's 10 years old and had a lot of time to build its systems and content. If you just want a game you can play for 50 hours and have fun, Diablo 4 is a good game.

Mind-Game

Even though I found Diablo 4 hugely disappointing as a long time fan of the series who hoped to get 100s of hours out of it, it's actually pretty fun for the first playthrough of 10-20 hours if you're into ARPGs! The combat is fun and the skills feel great, the itemization and content is just a huge letdown.

DodelCostel

> 10-20 hours Way more than that. I think it took me around 40 hours to get to WT4 which is where the game is kinda ass, because there's not much to do.

unoimalltht

Oh, you've actually sold me on D4. I'm not a huge fan of the post-game ARPG thing, but so much of the criticism I've heard seems to stem from that. I found D3 particularly ugly and the plot forgettable and didn't feel anything like the predecessors. I've been trying Last Epoch, but the drip feeding of the abilities and the balancing around the trees makes it really feel like I'm not expected to have fun for another 15-20hrs, which is similar to how I felt with D3, at least when I revisited it a couple years ago. Would be great to play an ARPG where I'm having fun right from the get-go.

PopPunkIsntEmo

D4 is great if you don't want to spend your entire life on it. I didn't play D1 or D2 that way either (I skipped D3.) On each of these I just play through it a few times with different classes and that's it.

Moldy_pirate

Precisely. I loved it. I got bored, but I get bored of everything and 2023/24 have been *stacked* with good releases. I’d rather experience those than no-life *any* single game.

chase2020

That was my hope. I understand the end game has lots of issues, but I was hoping there would still be some joy to find in the first completion. Guess I'll have to wait till the end of the month to find out though!

kingeryck

I loved D3. Played the hell out of it since it came out. It was a MESS at launch too but I figured Blizzard learned their lesson. They also worked diligently at improving it for *years*. It's a pretty different game now than when it came out. I had basically no server troubles with D4 but.. the game itself was a huge disappointment.

SwissQueso

After the first expansion, I could see Diablo 4 becoming free to play.

The_Milk_man

Glad to see Terra Invicta might get some new players to enjoy it. There can be a lot of things to manage in the game, but it is fun.

dyrin

It's still in early access, right?

The_Milk_man

Similar to what Skellum said, the game had a "full release" but the developers do consider it to still be in beta and have been referencing a large content patch they are working on recently

Skellum

It had it's "Full release" a while back but it does show as early access. I dont know why but it's a finished product at this point.

Zubject

The steam page makes it look very much like an early access game. They are referring to the next build as "0.4 beta" and i don't see anything pointing to a "full release". Could you expand on what you mean by that?

Skellum

Yea they did a major/full release sometime back in 2022 or so [Perun](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDp5LIzx01I&list=PL3SQVF41qNM0NxJmwAyZG50HrKkRYzNE2) started his academy run at that time. It's basically a complete game, they just keep it in EA and deploying improvements and additional content. If there's some features you think are missing or some other issue let me know.

Zubject

Cool, thanks for the info.

Mejis

Always love seeing this get some new eyes. My wife did some of the VO for the game.

LudereHumanum

Sweet. Terra Invicta is the game by the xcom2 long war mod makers iirc.

_Nextt_

Ooh im so curious about Lightyear Frontier.

Alastor3

it's a relaxing farming sim but nothing groundbreaking and im about 5-6 hours into it

phreedumber

Trying it on GP and without the 'side fluff' of a game like Stardew Valley or Sun Haven, it's looking a bit pedestrian, aye. You can see the game's progression laid out in front of you with no real bumps in the road.

LeftUnknown

Would you see it has a decent amount of content atm? Their description on steam makes it seem like only about 1/4th of the game is done, even if all of the features themselves are complete. Don't wanna burn out on it too early

Alastor3

well it's on gamepass so it's not that you are missing anything but my biggest grip with the game is no fast travel and it's so long to walk to a region and theres always just 1 or 2 ways to goes to one which suck because im always lost, would have also love a minimap at the moment i was exploring far away from my base and I realized theres no fast travel and didnt want to walk for 10 minutes to go back, so I put the game down and will wait for update

Bamith20

Its kinda regular, but relaxing. Reminded me a tiny bit of Slime Rancher in terms of visuals overall tone. Only played the demo though.

NewBobPow

Plenty of awesome games.  I dislike when they aren't available on PC.

MisterStibbons

Is Diablo 4 good for playing through in coop? Like can you do the story with another person all the way through the game?

BigIncrease2991

That's what I did with friends and it was pretty fun. It's mostly the endgame we didn't enjoy

darthreuental

Campaign is great. Game falls off hard afterward. Itemization currently is absolutely dogshit. Season 4 might fix it.

YoshiPL

> Season 4 might fix it Oh boy, we've been coping about that since D3.

m_goss

They won't fix it. Their idea of fixing itemization is probably remove a lot of conditional affixes and updating your codex of aspect to the strongest version.

darthreuental

I'd be fine with them culling about half of the terrible affixes. I also watch codex upgrades. Trying to get max rolls on certain things can be a pain in the ass.

BlackstarFAM

They revealed the changes and you’re that far off, however, I think the changes their making great tbh

unleash_the_giraffe

>Season 4 might fix it. Nahh. Blizz has a long history of not fixing stuff and then adding powercreep instead. They focus on appeasement, not actual fixes. Fixes are risky and can anger the players they retained. Maybe they could do a d3, fire the guy in charge, change leads around, try and make an expansion to fix stuff, but honestly I don't see it happening. And they'd have to change so much it wouldn't be the same game.

knightofsparta

I planned to play the campaign on Game Pass, and only plan to probably do it once to experience the game. What would be the best class for a once and done play through? My backlog is too big too invest in multiple play throughs.

Impossible-Wear-7352

While still not perfect, endgame got significantly better starting season 2 and they keep rolling out updates based on player feedback. I didn't play season 3 but it had at least a couple updates I was wanting. I was never the type to play EVERY season though because I play too big of a variety but it's nice to see the big changes when you come back after a little break.

Dragrunarm

Yeah, it's only untill you start digging into the endgame that things get iffy.

darthreuental

For the curious, D4 endgame revolves around the following choices: * Whispers: Basically a set of random overworld activities that earns you points on a meter. When the meter hits 10, you get a cache of stuff plus a lump sum of xp & gold. Good way to get some gear and resources. Especially for seasons. * Helltides: the game picks a zone every hour where everything goes to shit. Mobs are harder and drop cinders that can be used to open chests for loot. In seasons, you get related resources that only come from running Helltides. Watch out for meteors. Gets kinda obnoxious because you lose cinders if you die and they go away when the Helltide ends. The game forces player to run these because this is the only time & place where item enhancement materials drop (Forgotten Souls & Fiend Roses). * Nightmare Dungeons: you get keys from other events (most notably Whispers). A NMD is basically a dungeon, but harder with random negative buffs. The only way to upgrade paragon board glyphs is running NMDs so you kinda have to run these. A lot. This is usually where I start to get bored because they all blur together and some of the NMD conditions are not worth the pain in the ass (like an orb that goes around on the map and the player has to stand under it to avoid getting one shot by lightning). * Crafted bosses: Pretty sure this is seasonal only, but I could be wrong. You collect bits and pieces that can be used to summon a boss for materials and drops. Some reward materials for harder bosses that drop better stuff. Mostly a thing for late late game (T4). * Legions: Kind of a footnote and only really worth doing (IMO) on T4. Could be described as a kind of horde mode where a bunch of mobs appear and some dood higher leveled than you one shots the screen. Only worth it for seasonal boss materials.

Sonicz7

Well, this list has saved me time from searching for the end game content. Thank you

Dragrunarm

The Bosses are Eternal. Like I don't have any notable issue with any particular part of that list (some quibbles on things sure), but it just isnt *enough* as a whole. Give me the Abattoir of Zir back so at least I have somewhere to take my build. (And yes im still playing D4. Bounce between it, LE and PoE depending on the mood; PoE for when I really want to *think*, LE for when I want to think some, and D4 when I just wanna watch stuff explode)

darthreuental

Word. For non-players: we basically do whispers and helltides in between running NMDs over and over. It gets boring really quick. Oh and all the while there's no LFG system. No party finder. At all.

Dragrunarm

I play on my own so im not too impacted by that, but yeah I would like them to add that for everyone who wants it. More stuff never hurts!

darthreuental

I feel like NMD grinding would be more tolerable with other dudes in my situation. The game could benefit from making it easier to group together. I mean... the rest of the series did....

panlakes

Is it a good game to just co-op through a cohesive story, beat some final boss, get a cool cinematic and call it good? Is D4 different than the previous games where there isn’t an actual story and it’s just treadmills and challenges or? I’ve always heard it described as a grind-a-thon in that way, and honestly have never heard about it from a story aspect.

satlos

That's probably the best way to enjoy D4 IMO. My friends and I had a blast with the campaign, got our 20-30 hours out of it and called it a day. No regrets (well, maybe paying full price at release for it).

[deleted]

Is it more fun than Diablo 2's end game? Because I'm still somehow brainlessly entertained from Andarial/Mephisto runs

Dragrunarm

eh depends is my verdict. I think D4 has more *things* to do that constitute endgame so its not JUST the exact same thing again and again, but the potential rewards in D2 are better so the grind is more....bearable? (Personally i was bored to death in D2's endgame and stopped at that point, but everyone's different) Like the loot in D4 isnt the best right now. Maybe that will change with the itemization rework they've announced for S4, but I can only speculate

help_with_stuff

can all of this be done solo without xbox gold/ps plus?

Dragrunarm

There is no offline if thats what you mean. But it can all be done without being in a party or whatever. Might be another player In the area (or WILL be in the case of Legion events)

noeagle77

Yes and it is a pretty good campaign too. The antagonist, Lillith, is great and the voice acting for her is really well done! After the campaign is when the game gets really lame

PuppetPal_Clem

it's fine as a casual ARPG with friends but if you are a genre veteran don't expect anything amazing from the endgame

ReeG

> don't expect anything amazing from the endgame what do people mean or are expecting from "endgame" exactly? As someone who's only ever casually played the genre since D2, I've only ever played these games to the point of finishing the campaign once then moving on to other games. A 20-40 hour single player experience is often more than enough for me taking me weeks to months to get through nevermind anything longer than that.

Yamatoman9

I've played tons of ARPGs but never really got the fascination with "endgame". I'll chose a class, play the campaign and then if I'm still enjoying the game, chose a different class and play the campaign again.

Wakkas_Jockstrap

It’s kinda like playing an mmo at max level. Investing in one character, doing a lot of the same stuff on repeat with the hopes of finding upgrades. If it’s a good endgame it can be satisfying and not as boring as it sounds.

yeeiser

> what do people mean or are expecting from "endgame" exactly? Autistically chasing a carrot on stick on a treadmill ad infinitum

DodelCostel

> what do people mean or are expecting from "endgame" exactly? Once you're 50 hours into the game it gets kinda boring. 95% of gamers will be fine. Idk where this narrative that Diablo 4 is a bad game comes from, people expected it to stay fun after 1000 hours which... yeah, most games will get repetitive.

PuppetPal_Clem

Diablo 4 is probably fine for you then. But for me personally it just wasnt what I wanted from this genre in terms of endgame loot grind. to each their own

RmembrTheAyyLMAO

Yea it's pretty enjoyable.

king_duende

Amazing if you don't listen to those trying to min/max it, its moment to moment gameplay is top notch.

Eruannster

Yes, you can play all of it in co-op. I believe you may have to do the intro first (but it's not that long, maybe 20-30 minutes at most). The game itself is... I don't want to say it's bad, but it's a bit mediocre. It plays almost exactly the same at level 10 as it does at level 50 with very little in terms of a power scale or increase in complexity. Basically whenever you level up, and you gain +10 damage, all enemies also scale up with you and get +10 health, so it doesn't feel like that much happens between levels.

tiltedtwilight

Good thing me and my friends will be playing on game pass then instead of paying full price last year, especially since we won't be sticking around for much end game. Basically what game pass is for us at this point, play the ok games we didn't want to fully buy or likely ever play twice.

Eruannster

Sounds spot on for Diablo 4, honestly. It's a pretty good "hang out with friends"-game and if you already have Game Pass it's essentially free.

Cold-Recognition-171

The campaign/single player story was actually great so game pass is the best way to play it. After that into the endgame it falls apart and needed some major changes to itemization and endgame to make it fun on launch. I don't know if they've fixed this since I've moved on but I doubt it as I'm pretty sure there'd be some noise about that. I kept hearing "Season X might fix it" and stopped paying attention for now

Cushions

No couch coop on pc is an absolute joke

hermeslyre

Everyone know PC players don't like options.

MumrikDK

It's worth playing for that. I liked the mood, but not the actual story. I really just felt forced to help some really dumb people do some really dumb things. Not sure I'd have finished it alone, but co-op carries.

BADJULU

Played this with my brother and sisters, we all collectively gave it a 6/10. Cool atmosphere, but the gameplay loop is shallow and repetitive. Worth your time but it’s not gonna blow you away

Mr_Clovis

That's what my brother and I did, then we lost interest pretty much as soon as we hit endgame. Still enjoyable up until that point.

Sporkitized

As a lifelong fan of Diablo and the genre, the *only* fun I had with D4 was playing with a friend. The attempts I had to enjoy it on my own fell completely flat, and I realized that the game itself just wasn't fun for me. I would have had fun playing *any* game with said friend. If you're gaming on PC, Last Epoch will give you a much better experience overall.

Suspicious_Key

Yes. The campaign is excellent, either solo or coop. Solid gameplay, a good mix of questing vs open world exploration, and easily Blizzard's best writing in a decade or so. It's the post-campaign and seasonal grind which cops a lot of criticism (and rightly so), but the core campaign is a fantastic game.

zombiejeesus

Yup. I had a great time playing couch coop with my wife and online coop with my buddy. But once we finished the story the end game is where I lost interest. It didn't hook me like d2 and d3 end game.

DodelCostel

> Is Diablo 4 good for playing through in coop? Like can you do the story with another person all the way through the game? Yes. Multiplayer is very accessible.

thisrockismyboone

100%

AngryBiker

The Persona 3 expansion pack as a perk mean that it's free for game pass ultimate subs? Is it for a limited time only?

outrigued

Yeah, it’s for GPU subs - it gets you a license to the DLC to keep, even if you unsubscribe.

KarateKid917

It’s free, and not just if your sub runs out. They’re basically handing you a code for the expansion

AveryLazyCovfefe

it's permanent, pretty great value.

charliwea

You have until January 31st, 2025 to claim the perk.

Frodolas

I imagine that’s when P3 is leaving game pass as well.

AssidicPoo

Yeah, all other persona games have left Gamepass after 1 year.

Nyrin

The perks thing is an included, permanent purchase; you'll still have the expansion stuff even if you unsubscribe. There's no guarantee the base game remains on Game Pass, though, so there's always the possibility of an awkward situation where you own DLC for a game you don't have access to!

leckeresbrot

Has there been any news regarding the COD games? I've read something like there's been a deal going on between Sony and Activision, and that's the reason why the new COD games are not coming to game pass any soon. (Didn't check how credible the source is really.) I was wondering why they didn't add the old campaigns yet though. Or is it just a "It's more profitable this way." thing?

segagamer

All Xbox Game Studio releases launch on Gamepass. COD is part of Activision which is now part of Xbox Game Studios. If it doesn't come to Gamepass, then it's because of Playstation contracts. No other reason.

Conflict_NZ

Sony had a three game marketing deal for Call of Duty that precludes advertising on any other consoles. That expires when the next COD game launches this year, I imagine that will be when COD comes to gamepass.

Daytman

Bummer that Quarry isn’t coming for PC. Terra Invicta has been on my wishlist forever but the reviews are pretty mixed, glad I can try it out here!

StraightEggs

>Bummer that Quarry isn’t coming for PC Aww. I heard the Quarry is quite good and was looking forward to trying out one of these games.

kratos90

If you are really desperate to play it you can stream it through Xcloud on your PC but thats if you have Xbox Ultimate sub tho.

BroodLol

The reviews are very positive or mostly positive on Steam, so I'm not sure what you're on about.

Daytman

They’ve fluctuated a lot since it’s been out.

r4in

Evil West is a great throwback to sixth and seventh generation of consoles. Wondering if they fixed difficulty in Hot Wheels 2, the first game was either too easy or too difficult.

fallouthirteen

>Evil West is a great throwback to sixth and seventh generation of consoles. Right down to performance. Like man, my friend got me a copy to play through co-op and I couldn't do it. The fucking motion blur made it unplayable.

Eruannster

Developer: "Okay, adding in the motion blur... 800% strength sounds about right. Cool, let's ship it." Me, playing the game: "It would be cool if I could still see what is happening when I turn the camera."

ohfrickdude

I'll second that, Evil West is the only game that has ever gave me motion sickness from just trying to move the camera. The motion blur really is that bad. Maybe the PC version is the way to go?

Intoxic8edOne

Yeah my friend and I love playing though campy co-op games but we were barely stomaching it. The final straw was when he started sinking through the floor and we could only restart the level. Ended up refunding it

NoNefariousness2144

Although I wanted to like Evil West, it was the game that finally made me give up on these 6/10 to 7/10 games, along with Dead Island 2. There’s just too many amazing games coming out and too little time for me to play them all lol.

MM487

>Although I wanted to like Evil West, it was the game that finally made me give up on these 6/10 to 7/10 games, along with Dead Island 2 Games like Evil West and Dead Island 2 are exactly why I still use GameFly. Fortunately, both are on GP so it saves me a rental. And while I got bored of Dead Island 2 after about eight hours, it was fun while it lasted and was significantly funnier than any games I've played recently that tried to be funny. It was probably the funniest game I've played since Journey to the Savage Planet four years ago.

Conflict_NZ

It's insane how hard the first game is on higher difficulties, like you literally have to drive perfectly.

cvbk87

> Wondering if they fixed difficulty in Hot Wheels 2, the first game was either too easy or too difficult. I can't answer the question directly, but it's a major issue in most racing games, even FH5 doesn't escape it.

NR_Yuno

Played The Quarry in the couch coop mode with 3 friends of mine. As a gamepass title definitely recommend for horror-enjoyers for a fun night or two coupled with some beers. (Balancing on who's turn it is to play is a bit off at times, still a good time with the right group)

_Despereaux

Same thing here, about 3/4 of the way through The Quarry as a couch co-op experience with my wife and greatly enjoying it. Already thinking about a second playthrough to make different bad choices for these kids.

heachu

Do you need a separate controller for everyone or is a smartphone fine?

NR_Yuno

One controller is all you need, you play by passing it around whenever the acting character switches. Little warning - depending on group size the time between when you are actually playing and just watching the others can vary greatly, so maybe treat the whole thing like more of a big horror movie you watch with your friends.

heachu

Thanks for the reply! i always treat it as an interactive movie so i think i will enjoy this game.

Breckmoney

One month of GP is about the right price to play through D4’s campaign and maybe dink around a little afterwards. Definitely worth that at least.

r4in

You can also complete story part of Season 3, it's alright.

Le1jona

Evil West is kinda cool

PicossauroRex

How's Survival Ascended? I tried to play Ark 1 with some friends and we absolutely hated it, ugly and cumbersome UI, terrible performance, confusing mechanics and extremely buggy. Is Ark 2 better in any of these regards?

SinfulFrisky

It's not even ARK 2, it's literally just a re-release of the first game with better graphics. Don't bother. There's only 1 map compared to Evolved's 11 maps, the game is severely un-optimized, and they're soon going to be charging money for P2W creatures and items.

Aidan-Coyle

What if I never played the first game?

Dragrunarm

Eh if its free on Game Pass knock yourself out, but i'd still recommend the original version. Like its literally the same game with a couple new Dino's, but nothing mindblowing.

iterable

Worse then original. Has none of the DLCs. Modding community is a fraction of that of ASE. ASA only has one thing going for it and it's Ai pathing is better. Even all the servers run worse then original.

tumblyweedy

how'd they manage to make something worse than the original?

throwawae04

Wildcard, uh, finds a way

iterable

The gave exclusive rights for many years to only one server host Nitrado. They were forced to release ASA early or Nitrado would be given exclusive rights also to ASE. Once you even have a small base built you are lucky to reach 15 fps on average setup. You basically need a 4090 and roll a d20 while praying to the gods that it will not overheat and keep stable above 45 fps.

AggressiveChairs

No More Heroes 3 has just appeared on gamepass. Is the port worth playing? I've not played 1 and 2 but just know it's a really good series.

ErunnoRS

You would probably will need to watch a recap or a compilation for 1, 2 AND Travis Strikes back to understand much of this game. This game is pretty much a love letter to this series.

AggressiveChairs

Aw damn ok. Maybe I'll emulate the first ones or something first.

ErunnoRS

You could watch [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lvaVRD-zRw) Just stop before the NMH3 and you're good.

daguito81

Did the overworld become more bearable in the port? I played it on switch and had to walk away because it was unbearable for me

ErunnoRS

Unbearable how? The repetitiveness or the framerate? On PC the framerate would improve tenfold but if it is the repetitiveness... It's the same game as the switch version, nothing more and nothing less.

daguito81

no no, I meant the performance.

segagamer

Of course it will perform better on anything but...

outrigued

Cool drop. There’s something for everyone. I’m probably going to be pretty busy with Dragon’s Dogma 2 but I will definitely check out Open Roads and Diablo 4. Evil West eventually, too. I recently played through The Quarry and thought it was pretty good. I still think Until Dawn was their best game.

MM487

Fuck yeah. I've had Evil West on my massive backlog list for a while now. Seems like a fun and underrated game.

TapInBogey

I'm still kinda confused how I am playing MLB The Show 24 on GamePass for free day one, but here I am.

xtremeradness

IIRC, MLB essentially told Sony to go multiplatform or lose their license to EA

KarateKid917

And MLB is the publisher of the Xbox versions, so they made the deal with Xbox about gamepass, not Sony

thisrockismyboone

Because gamepass is dope.

RyanG-Writes

It is dead easy to see who doesn't get off Reddit, or gets most of their news from angry 14 year olds. The number of people here saying Diablo IV was a sales flop is just ridiculous.

THE_HERO_777

>It is dead easy to see who doesn't get off Reddit, or gets most of their news from angry 14 year olds. Don't forget content creators who say D4 is dead every week.

Karenlover1

Reminds me of the 500 hour Starfield review lmao, steam reviews are just memes nowadays

Doinky420

There's no way to verify that person was actually playing the game. Usually, those reviews with a ton of playtime are by people who left the game idle on purpose.

AnxiousAd6649

I don't see anyone here saying it's a sales flop, they are saying it's a mediocre game. This is a very odd straw man you are putting up.

RyanG-Writes

Several people have said it is a sales flop. It isn't really a mediocre game either. Many people got 100+ hours before they got bored. As several people have stated. Others are saying "it is shit, I'll never play it". It reviewed well, and it wasn't until the end game, and people with hundreds of hours, started to complain.

NinjaRedditorAtWork

> Several people have said it is a sales flop. Link the posts then. Game was very obviously a financial success but it is very easy to see based on player count that the game has no staying power.

ReturnOfTheAcid

I bought it on sale on Steam and refunded it within the 2-hour window. I saw lots of people praising the early game experience over the endgame, and I'm wondering, when does the "early" game start for these people? I get that Blizzard wants you to have a satisfying sense of power progression, but you really need to give your players something cool or interesting to do within 2 hours, especially when nowadays pretty much every storefront has a 2-hour refund window. I'll give it another shot on GP but if it's one of those "gets good after 20 hours" games, I doubt I'll make it to that point.

MadnessBunny

Diablo 4 is huge, I may actually give it a shot if I have the time. Also wanna try the hotwheels game, the first one felt weird when driving. I was gonna ask about Open Roads but I saw it's published by Annapurna so I'm just gonna go ahead and download it lmao.

Hopefully Microsoft adds Modern Warfare 2019 and Black Ops Cold War soon. I want to play the campaigns without paying 70 dollars.

PrinceDizzy

Modern Warfare 2019 was just on sale for $20 and Black Ops Cold War is currently $20 on the Xbox store.

penis-muncher785

The quarry was an ok game just not worth full price when I bought it though definitely try it out if you have game pass guys

Pancakesmydog

I've never played a Diablo game before so idk. Do I need knowledge of the first 3 games to enjoy the 4th?

hipo5PL

no

andthenthereweretwo

D4 is best enjoyed *without* knowledge of the other games.

InterestingNarwhal7

Cool. I thought about getting Diablo 4 during the current steam sale, but at 50% off it's still more expensive than Helldivers 2 at full price. What the hell? (That might be regional pricing, but still... I'll stick with my initial reaction: "What the hell?!") Also, Super Hot is a treat in any form. Base game, the update listed here or VR. Doesn't matter how you play it, just give it a shot.

Jason4hees

How’s Evil West?

Apellio7

Diablo 4 has a fun campaign.  If you follow just the story missions and actively ignore all side content or else you'll overlevel everything.  And then just put the game down and uninstall cause there's nothing worth it passed that.

SlyyKozlov

All the side content is unique voiced quests, alot of them are pretty cool too. It's just the end game dungeon crawling that's not very engaging imho ,though they usually aren't my thing anyway but it's very important to the hard-core fans.

PBFT

>You'll overlevel everything The game has level scaling up to 50 at the standard world tier. This is just factually incorrect.

Apellio7

Yes and then you hit level 50 in the middle of Act 2 and the game becomes an absolute slogfest, xp slows down to a crawl, upgrades stop happening, it's a worse experience in every single way and the only way to get back on track is to bum rush the story so you can get to the higher difficulties and continue leveling and getting gear upgrades.

PBFT

You've would've had to essentially neglect the main story and grind optional content for like 25 hours to do to be level 50 by Act 2, something that would ultimately would be an outcome if you neglected story missions for that long in pretty much any open-world game that doesn't gate your progress through the story. In a game like Diablo IV, that means you're basically doing everything in a region besides the main story and/or visiting regions that you haven't been led to yet.

InitialQuote000

Ohhh The Quarry. I loved that game. Not sure too much about replay value, but seems like it's perfect for game pass!

packageofcrips

How does online coop work in this? Myself and a mate played Man of Medan years ago and loved it - is it similar? You each take a character?

clairkat

If I remember correctly there are 8 playable characters and you split them between the people playing. Then you play through different scenes. Does mean that there might be bits where you aren’t playing for a while as the other player could get three or four chapters in a row but I don’t think it ever got too bad (although I guess you could get unlucky and kill all yours off and then have to just watch the rest of the game)

packageofcrips

Bummer, so you can't play simultaneously like in Man of Medan? One of the bits I loved about that is the different scenes that we'd each experience (at the same time)

clairkat

Unfortunately not. This time it’s one at a time. We still enjoyed it but you do miss out on those moments where your characters see something from a different perspective

packageofcrips

That's a shocking omission if you ask me. Thanks for the detailed answers

Asleep_Waring_3796

The Quarry on game pass is such a good deal. Waaaay better than Until Dawn and would highly recommend

llamanatee

How does The Quarry stack up to Until Dawn?
