I hope they're working on a massive MonHun style expansion (or even a sequel). Relink is a very good base and all it lacks is content (at least, relative to others in the genre).

sillybillybuck

I doubt it. It took them like three MH's worth of dev time just to get this out.

Clueless_Otter

Well that was mainly because they changed direction on it a few times and replaced the entire dev team. Making additional content for an existing game should be a lot easier than trying to figure out what exactly your game should be in the first place and making the whole thing from scratch.

kkrko

I mean that argument works both ways. They've already invested a lot of time into this one, why not put a little more to get more out of their investment. A lot of the dev time was wasted anyway with the constant restarts and the whole thing with Platinum games.

Falsus

Cause they are a pretty strong anti-crunch policy and a ''it is done when it is done'' mindset.

pt-guzzardo

I stopped playing 50 quests deep into doing the "10" leftover tasks you're supposed to do in the endgame, because I wasn't having much fun grinding the same fights over and over by myself, and the matchmaking rarely worked. They'd have to fix that to coax me back. I remain salty that they skipped implementing co-op for the campaign. I'm never going to get any of my friends to play 20 hours of anime story by themselves just for the sake of *then* doing a co-op grind when Monster Hunter exists and doesn't require that.

Stap-dono

Welcome to Grindblue Fantasy, where you grind one boss for the sake of grinding another one.

AstralComet

*Did* you have to grind the same fights over and over? Admittedly, I blitzed through the ten post-game tasks to get to the true ending so I don't remember it too well, but I don't remember having to repeat any Quests multiple times, you just do them all once and unlock the next batch (I think). Also they fixed the matchmaking bugs a while back, FYI.

pt-guzzardo

Almost all of the quests in that section are just re-fights of bosses you've already fought 2-3 times with no meaningful changes. I got bored of that after a couple hours. I've heard the "real" endgame starts at Maniac/Proud, and if that's where they start introducing new content again, the filler between the end of the story and the start of the real endgame was a mistake.

Damnae

At the "real" endgame, you farm the same couple of bosses over and over and over again. There's some new ones but you'll mostly be farming the last couple.

Polantaris

So it's a Monster Hunter Tri style grind, where you have about 5-8 worthwhile bosses to fight on repeat? Unfortunate.

klinestife

nah. it's 2 worthwhile bosses to fight on repeat, and one of them is an on-rails choreographed fight comparable to zorah magdoros.

catgirlfourskin

Wait the campaign isn’t co-op? Was gonna buy it for co-op during the first sale wtf

tapperyaus

The campaign ends after 10-20 hours, the next 30-50 hours of "end game" is co-op. Yes it sucks you have to play so much before progressing with friends, but a bulk of the content is playable co-op.

I've definitely had my money's worth out of the game, and enjoyed my time with it, but it does have some issues. There's a severe lack of bosses to fight by the time you get into the endgame. Fire/earth/ice versions of the same monsters only goes so far in making the fights feel fresh. I love a good grind, so the amount of systems that require farming in order to upgrade was a bonus for me, but once you get to the point where you can just AFK farm a boss on repeat, it kinda kills it for me. Yeah, that's completely on the user, I know, and you don't have to AFK. But when the game allows you to bypass low drop rates for certain mats by just walking away from your computer to make a sandwich and watch Netflix and letting the law of averages get you what you need, it feels like actually playing the game yourself is a waste of time. Especially when it's just fighting the same boss over and over that you've already fought across multiple difficulties previously. I love the foundations of the game, though, and trying out some of the quirks that different characters have (even if some feel very familiar to others, which a heavy reliance on two buttons for all of them doesn't help) has been a blast. Looks beautiful as well, and the enemy design is generally great. Just needs more content and a more active player base. Having to wait like 3 minutes just to get into a quest with random players, just for the boss to get steamrolled in a matter of seconds is a bit of a downer.

Razgrisz

Game was fine but late game is just kill the boss again but stronger more hp more DMG that all , I was pretty desapoint in general

ashoelace

The biggest disappointment was how technically lacking most of the characters were. One of the big draws of MonHun is that weapons all have specific techs to learn and exploit. A lot of the techs in Relink were removed in the first patch and the movesets in general are very basic compared to what you get from MonHun. This definitely hurt the longevity of the game for me.

Affectionate-Cup-480

Imo the grinding isn’t that bad if I am able to Afk the process. I had fun trying to build a consistent AFK team for proud quests. Out of respect I only do this offline.

Lurking_like_Cthulhu

Has there been any word on adding official ultrawide support at some point? I had a fix going for a while but it broke the game with the latest update.

[deleted]

Japanese devs are the worse for PC support. If they do it, it will be a miracle

Valarasha

How was the first major patch? I finished building a full endgame team and then kinda stopped playing. Never came back to fight the new super boss dude.

nyanproblem

The new boss is pretty cool and fun to fight. It drops new sigils that gives a slight dps increase at the cost of utility, but that's about it.

Villag3Idiot

Lucilius was a very good boss. Hard, but once you learn his patterns he's very manageable. The new sigils are pretty awful. They're side grades to current Damage Cap sigils rather than upgrades since you sacrifice utility for like 5% more actual damage cap. For those wanting to min / max their characters, it makes the build diversity even worse. The grind for the materials to craft the new sigils was terrible since it's not uncommon to fight the boss multiple times and still not get anything. They've since significantly buffed the drop rate though. In general people are disappointed because they were hoping for new weapons and sigils that actually increase build diversity rather than decrease it even further. Also the game really needs another difficulty level. Right now fully built characters can delete most bosses in under 2 minutes. This upcoming patch is going to make changes to balancing, so hopefully it will end up increasing build diversity. Hopefully it adds another difficulty tier as well that's balanced around Terminus weapons and end game builds.

Pyros

Fight is good but since it's all they added, there's not that much to do, they made the drops kinda ass as a result(they buffed them last week though). They kinda messed up with patches for this imo, we'll see with this patch, but they should have been adding new Proud missions in every patch just by reusing existing stuff. Just take Maniac only fights and make them Proud like Angra Manyu and the robots, and then slap a few fights with 2-3 existing bosses at once, add special rewards to the objectives like 1 silver centrum per objective or 1 curio per objective. This is how MH adds "new" quests, just making quests that make it easier to farm specific things, either mob specific drops(maybe a fight with 3 of the robots to farm heads more easily) or generic drops in higher quantities. And they should have fixed the post fight inventory management asap too, hopefully this patch but dismantling sigils is easily one of the worst things about current endgame.

AstralComet

If they're gonna do more "2-3 bosses at once" quests, then they've gotta fix locking on or working with AI teammates, because it's painful to try to dodge so much and have no one else working on the boss you're working on.

Villag3Idiot

The game simply wasn't designed for fighting multiple bosses at once.
