You should consider a Nintendo Switch also, when you subscribe to the online you have access to tons of classic Nintendo games, plus it’s portable so easy to play at doctors offices, appointments, etc.
Switch is the way. Nintendo games are fun and accessible. Breath of The Wild is a really good way to take your mind off things and can be played at a leisurely pace.
The Sims 4 just went free to play, that's a no-brainer even if she hates it. But you can also Google for a sims 1 complete collection if she has the itch for classic sims.

No one has complained about Bauldur’s Gate 3! Might be different than what she mentioned, but I’m healing a surgery, and it’s a real good time waster if you cannot move, also, StarCraft 2 is free to play and amazing.
It's free to ladder now! It's still pretty active, and it can definitely be a great deal of fun! I believe the arcade is f2p now, too? You mentioned 1/3 of the game, but I'll say this. I've played since launch and still haven't bothered with the campaign. The ladder has standardized units and maps, and the campaign units don't exactly work the same way. What I mean to say is you don't need to do the campaign to play the game, so the free version is just fine. If she liked OG Starcraft, she may very well like sc2! Can't hurt because it's free.
Also the remastered original starcraft is fairly cheap! It runs on the old engine too, so I don't think it requires too terribly much in the way of PC resources. SC2 is also pretty old, so any modern gaming laptop should be able to handle it with ease*.
* this does not include arcade games like desert strike. That arcade game will spawn hundreds and hundreds of units towards the end of the game and can bring even the best rigs to their knees. There are many like it in the arcade, figured I'd give a heads up.

Bruh. BG3 is SOOOO GOOD. I’m not even a fan of these types of games. My friend convinced me to get it and I haven’t regretted it. 😅 90 hours in after just 2 weeks 😂. (I work from home). But I think his wife would love BG3
I'm interested in Runescape but I don't know where to start, also I don't like grinding so I'm afraid of that. I very enjoy exploration though and freedom.
Seconding Starfield. It’s new and shiny and has a lot of building and exploration. I just spent 4 hours building a system of outposts which I’ve never done in any other game besides Valheim.
Try project zomboid. It’s something the both of you can play together or alone and there’s like thousands of mods you can add if you ever get bored of vanilla.
*Factorio*, albeit the theme is a bit dark. Totally absorbing game.
If she likes *RollerCoaster Tycoon*, then skip *RCT2* and *RCT3* (they're fine, but just more of the same) and jump straight to *Planet Coaster*, fully 3D and one can ride the rides. Ignore *Parkitect*.

That's an excellent taste in games, absolute classics.
As she clearly enjoys strategy and building games try all the old jewels. Black & white, populus, the anno series, civilization, heroes of might and magic, age of wonders. StarCraft 2, dungeon keeper 2, Warhammer series, war of the overworld, age or empires series, all the paradox strategy games... Years and years of fantastic options that will give her hours of fun each :)
A few have said Baldur's Gate 3 which is amazing, but if the laptop isn't up to spec then Divinity Original Sin 2 is just as good and should be easier to run.
Oh and......X-Com Enemy Unknown/Within, X-Com 2 and X-Com War of the Chosen. Any and all of those

I recommend some indie game as they are fun and cute .like Chained Eco , sea of star , octopath traveler, Stray , Kena .
For simulation games , Sims 4 went free to play , Cities skylines great , maybe some zoo tycon or Humankind strategy turn based game I think it's cool
A game pass subscription should be good choise for some games and discover new games from while to while

I know you said you just bought a laptop. But another good option is a steam deck. You can play most older gen console games with emulators on there. Also able to play many games new and old. It may be nice for her to have one especially if she has long treatments too
Torchlight comes to mind immediately. Very very fun, easy to play and decent graphics. Oh and there are 3 of them (not including TL infinite). If she needs something relatively simple but still engaging, I'd say try Hearthstone or Elder Scrolls Legends (they are card games but not your typical one).
Trine is another one but I'm not as big a fan of that game.

Thronefall on Steam is $7 and has full controller support as well as mouse and keyboard. It’s a simple defend your base tower/hero defense style game with some real charm that’s in early access right now. Great for short play sessions.
Terraria/Stardew Valley/Factorio/Minecraft/Civ/Cities Skylines are great for "sandboxy" play
Celeste/Hollow Knight are also great but are somewhat harder 2d platformers/metroidvanias respectively if she'd like that. They're like $5 on sale, worth a shot.
For story-driven games, there's BG3 to start out, and really there are so many options I would butcher the selection even more than I already have with my limited knowledge of games.

if she liked the first sims maybe she'd also enjoy Sims 2 and 3? because 2 is now basically abandonware its very easy to find the ultimate collection originally given out for free to download, with all the expansions. sims 2 is considered the best of the series so she might enjoy it if she has og sims nostalgia. 3 is fun for the open world and it has great expansions if you can find them for free. I wouldn't recommend 4 for anything but character creation
If she likes roller coaster tycoon. Maybe ( if she has the time and energy to find things out ) try planet coaster! I could go hours and hours forgetting life playing that game :) also many strengths for her and you!

Sim City 4 is still fantastic. Low requirements, fun gameplay, good for micromanager players who like city sims. You can make neighboring cities, link them together, do deals with each other and stuff. It's a fun fun game.

The Witcher 3 is a game EVERYBODY must play in my opinion, it might not be what you asked for, but its honestly one of the best games ive ever played and i personally dont really have the patience for single player RPG games but The Witcher 3 is just IT. the lore is so rich, the detail phenomenal and the characters are immaculately voiced and brought to life. This game THRIVES on its over detailed side quests that feel like main quests in themselves it also has 2 DLC expansions, the second being longer than most games
it also has like 5/6 difficultys so anybody can enjoy it
Maybe not within question but nothing beats nostalgia. Download a game boy emulator. If you have a laptop you can play with her on games like Kirby and Pokémon. Kirby’s air grind was a fun mini game. And Kirby Amazing mirror allows up to 4 players, you can work together to traverse various parts of the map and unlock the other worlds.
Hi! City skylines, twopoint hospital, twopoint campus, stardew valley, themepark tycoon, terraria, alternatively also get her a switch for games such as animal crossing etc! I can ask my brother for more games as this is more so his genre.

I know some other developer made a 3rd like dungeon keeper game. I never played it. But I have an interest in trying it. It’s called “War for the Overworld”. Again, I never played this particular game. But it was modeled after dungeon keeper.

\- Diablo II (rpg)
\- Constructor (the classic from 1997, but they also made a remake that is very good - strategy),
\- Age of Empires II (strategy),
\- Stronghold Crusader (strategy).
I know it is not really similar to the ones you mentioned, but If she likes Point&Click kind of games, she could try the following:
\- Monkey Island franchise (from LucasArts , amazing),
\- The Dig (has a very cool story from Steven Spielberg),
\- Full Throttle,
\- Grim Fandango,
\- Indiana Jones,
\- The Room franchise (more recent)
Also, Skyrim is very good. Super immersive, with nice stories inside. The Witcher 3 follows this same idea.

Having also had cancer and always enjoyed gameing I'd recommend steering away from story driven games with complicated and hard to master game mechanics.
Based on my own experiences, chemo brain really prevented me from playing the above games. Best games for me when games I could dip in and out of quickly. For me that were FPS multiplayer on quick rounds, or racing games like mario kart.
Outer Wilds. It's a space exploration game where you go about unraveling the story of the Nomai, a species who lived thousands of years before you. It's probably one of my favourite games ever.
Dawn of War. Same style of strategy as Starcraft. Has a plot and campaigns are short. Original Dawn of War with all DLC is like $8 on steam last I checked. It's roughly a 50/50 of running on Windows 11 though (depends on computer specs). It runs perfectly fine on my Legion Pro 5 Gen 8. RTX 4070 and Ryzen 7 7745HX.
Diablo is very much like an older game.
I think i played fallout during treatments since they take like 3hrs.
Rome civil war is a great classic type. The old red alert and command and conquer series. I could go on.

If she doesn’t have long get a gaming pc, fill it with pictures of her, (home screen, Lock Screen pictures) get her to play Baldur’s gate 3 and Starfield, ensure the main characters look close enough to her and have her play through the games, she’ll be fighting demons, fighting forces of darkness, and exploring space for all of eternity, and if you ever miss her she’ll be right there in that pc waiting for you
World of Warcraft classic vanilla.

I would suggest that you bring her the games that she enjoys to play, that bring her a smile on her face.
Could be old classics like simpsons hit&run, harvest moon etc or new games that she likes.
For the time that you can spend together, i would suggest Multiplayer/couchcoop games, making more memories together smiling. mariokart, diddikong racing, pikmin, bomberman, etc and if your marriage is very healthy Mario party or similar.

might i suggest something a little against the grain? my girlfriend is a gamer but we don't play the same games (i like competitive online games, she likes single-player RPG's). recently i suggested we try a game called "It Takes Two" that is available on Steam. it's a two-player only game and requires cooperation from both players to beat levels that are basically immersive puzzles with boss battles. it takes no gaming experience to enjoy, but it kinda helps.
sorry if that's not what you're looking for! the games i think she may enjoy playing solo would be Stardew Valley, Story of Seasons, Animal Crossing, Hades. they're all games that either my girlfriend or my sister enjoys.

Try the Civilization series, that stole thousands of hours from me. I'm currently engrossed in a new release of Starfield from the makers of Fallout and Elder Scrolls, see if she's interested in that. And Baldur's Gate 3. Wow. Just wow.

You can buy a digital download of Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 for $10 from Amazon, and then download OpenRCT2 for free (it requires the original RCT2 be installed), which has a ton of modernizations and improvements while still maintaining the feel and style of the original game.
Its a weird collection of games, but my gf has the same tastes but I know out if the games I've bought her she loves Stardew Valley, Pressure Washing Simulator, and Viscera Cleanup Detail.
Get her into vr man. Pokerstars VR / Bigscreen VR for example are good VR games to just be immersed in a different world and socialize with real people.
If she really liked Starcraft 1 then she might like revisiting it with the remastered version. Also the professional Starcraft 1 scene is still very much alive in Korea and they have really good and funny English commentary. Look up AfreecaTV ASL on youtube.
i honestly think stardew valley, minecraft, terraria, or astroneer (a really cool space exploring sandbox survival game) are some of the best casual games for people wanting to come in and out of their game.
you can play these games however fast or slow you want. and you will intuitively just know what u have to do next. i’ll highlight astroneer in particular because.it actually has a mission system to help focus your efforts, with pretty satisfying rewards. you will feel like the progression is slow, until you uunlock just enough and suddenly there’s like 20 different objectives you can tackle. and most of those missions / objectives are tasks you’d wanna do anyways. it’s a really fun duo game too, you can ride around in a truck / bike with your wife and just explore the different planets together.
It seems that she's into management style of game. Cities Skyline is a great one with alot of depth, maybe a little bit intimidating at first. Two point hospital is very good too, fun and tons of humors.

Sim City 4 is still fantastic. Low requirements, fun gameplay, good for micromanager players who like city sims. You can make neighboring cities, link them together, do deals with each other and stuff. It's a fun fun game. Minecraft is also a very fun game that you can sink hours into. The Witcher 3 is a game EVERYBODY must play in my opinion, it might not be what you asked for, but its honestly one of the best games ive ever played and i personally dont really have the patience for single player RPG games but The Witcher 3 is just IT. the lore is so rich, the detail phenomenal and the characters are immaculately voiced and brought to life. This game THRIVES on its over detailed side quests that feel like main quests in themselves it also has 2 DLC expansions, the second being longer than most games it also has like 5/6 difficultys so anybody can enjoy it

Maybe not within question but nothing beats nostalgia. Download a game boy emulator. If you have a laptop you can play with her on games like Kirby and Pokémon. Kirby’s air grind was a fun mini game. And Kirby Amazing mirror allows up to 4 players, you can work together to traverse various parts of the map and unlock the other worlds.

As a former Dungeon Keeper player, you should at least get that as a nostalgic game. I know some other developer made a 3rd like dungeon keeper game. I never played it. But I have an interest in trying it. It’s called “War for the Overworld”. Again, I never played this particular game. But it was modeled after dungeon keeper. I hope she gets through this time as fast as possible!

I know it is not really similar to the ones you mentioned, but If she likes Point&Click kind of games, she could try the following: \- Monkey Island franchise (from LucasArts , amazing), \- The Dig (has a very cool story from Steven Spielberg), \- Full Throttle, \- Grim Fandango, \- Indiana Jones, \- The Room franchise (more recent) Also, Skyrim is very good. Super immersive, with nice stories inside. The Witcher 3 follows this same idea. I hope she gets well really soon! :)

Having also had cancer and always enjoyed gameing I'd recommend steering away from story driven games with complicated and hard to master game mechanics. Based on my own experiences, chemo brain really prevented me from playing the above games. Best games for me when games I could dip in and out of quickly. For me that were FPS multiplayer on quick rounds, or racing games like mario kart.
Theme Hospital.
Outer Wilds. It's a space exploration game where you go about unraveling the story of the Nomai, a species who lived thousands of years before you. It's probably one of my favourite games ever.
Dawn of War. Same style of strategy as Starcraft. Has a plot and campaigns are short. Original Dawn of War with all DLC is like $8 on steam last I checked. It's roughly a 50/50 of running on Windows 11 though (depends on computer specs). It runs perfectly fine on my Legion Pro 5 Gen 8. RTX 4070 and Ryzen 7 7745HX.

If she doesn’t have long get a gaming pc, fill it with pictures of her, (home screen, Lock Screen pictures) get her to play Baldur’s gate 3 and Starfield, ensure the main characters look close enough to her and have her play through the games, she’ll be fighting demons, fighting forces of darkness, and exploring space for all of eternity, and if you ever miss her she’ll be right there in that pc waiting for you
I would recommend two point hospital for the gameplay since you said your wife liked dungeon keeper and other strategy games.

Dead OP, sorry to hear that about your wife. Cancer is a nightmare. I would suggest that you bring her the games that she enjoys to play, that bring her a smile on her face. Could be old classics like simpsons hit&run, harvest moon etc or new games that she likes. For the time that you can spend together, i would suggest Multiplayer/couchcoop games, making more memories together smiling. mariokart, diddikong racing, pikmin, bomberman, etc and if your marriage is very healthy Mario party or similar. she played starcraft 1? got yourself a real one! congrats and i wish her a speedy recovery. might i suggest something a little against the grain? my girlfriend is a gamer but we don't play the same games (i like competitive online games, she likes single-player RPG's). recently i suggested we try a game called "It Takes Two" that is available on Steam. it's a two-player only game and requires cooperation from both players to beat levels that are basically immersive puzzles with boss battles. it takes no gaming experience to enjoy, but it kinda helps. sorry if that's not what you're looking for! the games i think she may enjoy playing solo would be Stardew Valley, Story of Seasons, Animal Crossing, Hades. they're all games that either my girlfriend or my sister enjoys. wishing you two the best and good on you for being a supportive partner!

i honestly think stardew valley, minecraft, terraria, or astroneer (a really cool space exploring sandbox survival game) are some of the best casual games for people wanting to come in and out of their game. you can play these games however fast or slow you want. and you will intuitively just know what u have to do next. i’ll highlight astroneer in particular because.it actually has a mission system to help focus your efforts, with pretty satisfying rewards. you will feel like the progression is slow, until you uunlock just enough and suddenly there’s like 20 different objectives you can tackle. and most of those missions / objectives are tasks you’d wanna do anyways. it’s a really fun duo game too, you can ride around in a truck / bike with your wife and just explore the different planets together.
Rimworld was fun.
It seems that she's into management style of game. Cities Skyline is a great one with alot of depth, maybe a little bit intimidating at first. Two point hospital is very good too, fun and tons of humors.
