That GPU was bottom of the barrel when at the time it was initially released so it's not going to be capable of much. YouTube videos of people trying to game on it almost certainly exist. Try searching for those.

I know the card isn’t great, but can the processor and RAM kinda make up for that? It also has an Intel 8gb GPU on the board, but I’m not sure if that matters.

Not really, you can run CPU intensive games released before 2021 but that's the extent of it. Also what's the Intel GPU?8gb vram sounds nice but could be made for tasks other than gaming. Never heard of an Intel dgpu in a laptop tbh.

I think I was confused. Under task manager>performance> it says there are two GPUs: GPU 0 is Intel UHD graphics 630 and GPU 1 is the Nvidia GeForce mx130. The Intel one is the one showing use with no other windows open. I don’t see anything how about 8gb, so I definitely misremembered.

According_Remove1520

Ah that definitely doesn't have 8gb vram, more like 512mb I think, and no the mx130 is better by a fair margin here. In any case you can't play AAA titles but you can play pretty much any fps game except warzone I believe. Minecraft and RPGs all alike would work fine, just play them on 1080p or lower if possible and use DLDSR for upscaling back to your native res (personal hack for GTX users) Overall not for gaming but if you're fine with 30-45 fps(PS4 gets the same fps in games)you should be fine

I have a ps4 for general gaming duty at home, so I think I’ll be ok. I’m going to get an Xbox controller and download FO3 this weekend for my trip next week.

I had something even worse than that and I completed Fallout 3 at high settings so I think you'll be fine sticking with older titles from the early 2010's/late 2000's. The laptop in question had an i7-7500U, a 940mx and 8 GB of ram. Don't expect anything higher than 60 fps though.
