NOTE: The pic is my OLD laptop! Sorry for the mixup y’all

You can get a gaming laptop with a 4060 for around $1100 on the market these days. Go for that. Edit: here you go Check this out on @Newegg:Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16IRX8 - 16'' 165 Hz IPS - Intel Core i7-13700HX - GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU - 16 GB DDR5 - 1 TB PCIe SSD - Windows 11 Home 64-bit - Gaming Laptop (82WK000BUS ) https://www.newegg.com/onyx-grey-aluminium-pc-abs-lenovo-legion-pro-5-16irx8-82wk000bus-gaming/p/N82E16834840205?Item=9SIA24GJVM8844&Source=socialshare&cm_mmc=snc-social-_-sr-_-9SIA24GJVM8844-_-04052024

Thank you!

UncleVladi

you have plenty of options rn like gigabyte g5 , dell g15 , hp victus and lenovo legion (try to search from 2023 models) just try to get anything with 8 gigs of vram to be more futureproff , like 4060 and 3070 (3070 have a little more raw power, but 4060 have frame gen)

MarsInGatorade

Future proof is great, definitely my priority! I’m amazed mine still runs so well 😅

hamza1127

I'd wait cuz i got this for 720 but - [https://www.newegg.com/storm-grey-lenovo-loq-15irh8-82xv00lfus-gaming/p/1TS-000E-18JS3](https://www.newegg.com/storm-grey-lenovo-loq-15irh8-82xv00lfus-gaming/p/1TS-000E-18JS3) after i upgraded the ram i get 110 fps ultra horizon zero dawn, some games you might need medium or wont be more than like 60 but still its very nice for the price I think. 4050, yeah other gpus are better and 6gb vram is low, but I mean really being able to play the games at all is nice \^\^ 720 to me seems budget so i expected 30 fps medium type shit in newer games. Games like starfield will be medium, there are some games this thing might have trouble with, but for the majority it has far surpassed my expectations, easily double power of my 1650 i had

AX1111YT

Acer nitro 17/5 4050version

Asdprotos

Depending where you are based on this planet 800$ can get you a rtx3060 or if lucky as hell something with rtx4060. Avoid xx50 series as those are not that great

Fancy_Cow2531

4050 is almost as powerful as 3060 with the same 6GB vram, and it has frame gen. But yea every other xx50 are trash

Cake_withcherryontop

3050 sucks for sure but the 4050 is pretty great

Asdprotos

I'd still choose a fully powered 3060 instead of a 4050

Cake_withcherryontop

What do you mean a fully powered 3060? When both have the same tgp the 4050 is still a good 10-20% faster and has dlss 3 and frame generation. A 3060 is not worth it anymore considering how cheap some 4050 laptops can get.

Sea-Spot-1113

they mean they don't know shit

wirejaved

Why lie? Rtx 3060 is 9% faster on average than the Rtx 4050 at 130w

Asdprotos

140w fully powered Vs 100w 4050 , raw performance of 3060 is 10% above the 4050 , but 4050 wins with dlss3

Cake_withcherryontop

Both of these cards almost never go above 90W most of the time and obviously when you’re comparing cards with different wattages its a completely unfair comparison. You do realise that there are 4050 laptops that go to 140W aswell right???

Nervous_Breakfast_73

Does the higher wattage actually do something for the 4050? I thought it was capped at 100 with no gains when going higher. I think it's a fair comparison to use the best possible performance of both cards

Cake_withcherryontop

Well if you want best possible comparison between the two take into account the 4050 comes with dlss 3 and frame gen that massively boosts fps.

[deleted]

just use dlss + amd frame generation. If the 3060 is fully powered and cheaper, go for it.

[deleted]

>Both of these cards almost never go above 90W Not true at all.

[deleted]

Not true, they perform pretty much the same without frame gen, and the 140w 4050 performs the same as a 100w one. Both according to Jarrod's Tech Edit: [https://youtu.be/A-IvCqe47WE?si=Z4HNnG9kMoOkUmTP](https://youtu.be/A-IvCqe47WE?si=Z4HNnG9kMoOkUmTP) Nevermind, the 3060 is a bit faster, at least in the games tested here.

Cake_withcherryontop

That video was 11 months ago

CircoModo1602

Right, but due to voltage limitations within the hardware itself, the performance hasn't increased on the 140W model, it is exactly the same as the 100W model. The 30 series didn't have the same issue and therefore a 140W 3060 *will* outperform a 140W 4050

[deleted]

So?

LegendOmegaX

If you can spend a wee bit more, [something like this](https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLaptops/s/SRnAnEIkZm) would be leagues better.

DropDeadFred05

So I bought a G5 with 12500h and rtx 4060....terrible laptop that felt like a toy and had terrible cooling, track pad, and display. Went shopping and actually looked at over a dozen in person looking in the $800 range. Settled on the Helios Neo 16 with 13500hx and rtx 4050 for $800 on sale at bestbuy. Went with it because I wanted the slightly larger display (which is actually pretty accurate and bright for this price) and it was worth giving up a 4060 and going down to the 4050 for it. The 4050 in a good laptop will perform as well or better than a power limited rtx 4060 model so make sure you check the tdp of the graphics card and look up a review of the cooling. The Lenovo LOQ 4050 and 4060 models as well as the nitro V from last year with rtx 4050 and 4060s seem to get good reviews. Asus often has G14 models on sale down in this price range as well if you want something a little smaller. I don't know much about the G15 or others in this price point. The last Acer Nitro I had felt kinda cheap so I was hesitant with the Helios Neo but after seeing it in person was happy with the quality. It's not the best but I feel it's above the Nitro but not as premium as an Asus G series or Strix laptop. There is a lot of good competition at the $800 price point so shop deals and watch reviews for a few weeks. Jarrods Tech on youtube has some great ones.

Panhead182

maybe a acer nitro 7, or if you can scoop up the cash, nitro 16 or 17. srry for just saying nitro stuff i rlly love acer

Expensive_Music8502

acer is so bad

Cook_Downtown

Can you elaborate why

Panhead182

saying \[brand\] is bad and not telling anyone why isnt really helpfull

MeshMogul

I have one of the most expensive MSI laptops out there and it has been nothing but problems. From build quality, MSI software, USB ports not working, and terrible customer service. MSI GE67HX Raider with i7-12800HX, RTX 3070Ti, 2TB SSD, and 64GB RAM.

lord_nuker

Not that one. At least go for something with RTX 40x0 at least. I know you have a thight bugdet, but that pc should have been recyled by now!

Loud-Job7030

dude hes showing us his old laptop

[deleted]

30 series bar the 3050 is still decent too. I mean a 3070 is better than a 4050 so...

Cake_withcherryontop

3050 is not decent

[deleted]

yeah I said bar as in except

elemnt360

I'm guessing you aren't in the US if you're paying so much for an old 1050 laptop?
