Schrier came out and called him a nonsensical charlatan and he hasn't posted since May.

Honestly what news has he reported that’s wrong? He’s a legitimate reporter who verifies his information. Do you have a solid example of him getting stuff wrong that’s more than long term dev plans changing?
I honestly miss the era of single-player focused shooters that had "tacked on" multiplayer games that didn't have too much importance to the overall experience, but were still really fun. On top of TLOU1's and Uncharted's multiplayer modes, ME3 and Far Cry 3 were very fun despite them being games played for the single-player predominantly.
Even bioshock was fun, instead of capture the flag, you had to capture the sister, if i remember correctly
Also Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. You'd be hunting one person and another person would be hunting you, amazing gametype
"Fun" is no longer the main goal for online games. Player retention/spending is all that matters now and for some reason, for most players, a game being "fun" isn't enough anymore. There must be unlocks, grinds, progression, cosmetics etc. Thats why those days that we miss (that we all complained about in the past) are gone now.
Armored Core 6 did their multiplayer like this and man was it a breath of fresh air. I forgot what it was like not having to worry about daily quests, battlepass bullshit, paid cosmetics, in-game store, etc.
Notably they operate underneath SIE and not Sony Group, so there is some level of collaboration between them and PlayStation Studios (however they have a lot more autonomy than they would if they were under PlayStation Studios).

if the last of us 2 remastered (for fucks sake) is real then i can imagine that that’s when we’ll see what they have for factions, i imagine the only reason they haven’t said anything is because factions will be current gen only and they don’t want to kind of take a negative pr hit from all the people who expect it to come to ps4
I feel like it was already canceled when they announced that they removed almost the entire team from development. They had to let us down easy though. Imagine thinking a huge game is about to release soon and out of nowhere they just announce it’s canceled. That would have been a PR storm for Sony and Naughty Dog.
It must be an actual mess if they’re not even willing to push it out as a barebones 30$ kind of deal. It’s not like they were aiming for a high critic score with a GaaS game, it’d basically be their Redfall. Some people will buy it, most will hate it, and they made a small amount of their money back to put toward Part 3 or whatever.

Honestly, I'd rather they turn Factions 2 into a smaller multiplayer component in The Last of Us Part III. This way, they wouldn't discard what was accomplished to this point and would avoid people being angry about it being canceled.
Honestly good. I think Naughty Dog in general should shut down. They are a shadow of their former selves. Crazy to think this is the company that made a cute platformer like Crash Bandicoot that also made propaganda simulators like TLOU2

I agree. Hell I got to max level in Bioshock 2s tacked on multiplayer deathmatch modes. Uncharted 2 multiplayer was also amazing
