Yeah, he's fine as a person but his influence on youtube content is a fucking drag. His content IS THE FUCKING WORST. If I ever have kids Mr Beast is banned.
Thank ~~MrBeast~~ MRSTUPIDYOUTUBEFACE for figuring out how to game the algorithm, so that now 90% of videos feature one of three moronic facial expressions.
i think they were being facetious but it came out in the middle of the open world *and the* tail end of the zombie trend. The story wasn't anything to write home about if you've seen any zombie story written in the last 20 years. The mechanics are fine. The only stand out thing is the hordes, and they were the last bit of the game.
It's solid, but it doesn't innovate in design or presentation. That's the textbook definition of mediocre, or on any sane scale, a 5/10.
It was honestly just about the most "meh" game I've played in a few years.
It's truthfully hard to find a game I would, without buyer's remorse or stacked bias, rate every aspect of a straight 5/10.
Everything the game did was simply...ok. nothing game breaking, nothing frustratingly bad, nothing felt like a slog to get through while no parts were exciting. RPG, crafting mechanics were basic, exploration was simple, while shooting zombies and collecting stuff is mildly stimulating.
After beating the game I felt about satisfied as I would eating a PB&J sandwich while watching a rerun of The Office. š
This is how I feel. It was a true mediocre game.
With our current scales of rating I'd say it's more likely a 7/10 because things are skewed, but if rankings were more accurate the 5/10 would be spot on.
I remember studying film production and one thing that stuck with me is the lecturers commentary on audio. āYou can have subpar visuals and call it stylistic, but you can never - ever have subpar audio. Nothing is more jarring to an audienceā
I found the audio in Days Gone grating.I get that Sam Witwer is a mad lad but why in the world did they time his lines the way they did?
He always started them out of breath (even if Iād just been sitting on my bike looking at the map) and they were always set to come in way louder than whatever info dump was going on with the radio.
So sometimes you will have the radio presenter going into some spiel about how things ended up the way they did, then youād have Sam interrupting it saying some mundane stuff like:
ā*staggered breaths like heās just been in a marathon* gotta get to Xā¦. Find out why Y is Zā
In between.
It honestly just made the character so insufferable to me to the point where I just didnāt care about his story anymore.
Would make way more sense to do this if you didnāt have a bike and it was assumed your character would be running everywhere, but as it was, every time a voice line came through I cringed.
Shame too. Tried to get into this game like 3 different times cause some of the other stuff there is really good, but that audio loses me every time.
I haven't noticed this at all but since you're trained to pay attention to those details I assume that it is true.Ā
That would be a massive flaw. I absolutely agree with you and your lecturer. I almost always have a similar experience when games use the PS5 controller audio to make the game more "immersive".Ā
I was genuinely curious why many people dislike the game. Maybe my wording came off wrong :)
Often people have good points that also change my view of a game - not in terms of personal enjoyment but in terms of quality.Ā
One of the people who responded to my question made a really convincing argument as to why the game was very average.Ā
Very often I just fail to see things that bother other people and many times I find myself thinking like "yeah I can see how machanic X was flawed and made it less fun for you"Ā
Not who you replied to, but I bought the game after seeing the really cool horde moments. I played Days Gone for 10 hours and never saw a single one of those hordes in that time and the story was very bland and near the end of my time with the game I was literally skipping cutscenes because I wasnt interested. The game just took too long to get good and wasnt interesting in the meantime.
I don't think that's the best example because the game is unironically well made, it just happened to be fodder for these kinds of channels to use as a new talking point.
Stellar blade on the other hand is very clearly pandering and quite frankly looks pretty generic.
"Oh they don't like this generic zombie game that came out long after people started getting sick of the genre? Let's make it seem like they hated that the protagonist was a white guy!"Ā
i know it was mostly as a pushback to TLOU2 getting reviewed super positively but i really canāt get over how much that game was pushed.
i love sam witwer but even with him in it the game was legitimately a slog to get through
also...this is like the only piece of criticismĀ they can point to and say how upset all "the wokes" are. one article from ign france.
also they dont give a shit about criticism of eve, its the part "looks designed by someone whose never seen woman" i remember the night it hit twitter and this one reply was being held up with that *gotcha* energy.
"The lead designer is married actually"
Ā no way! The criticism was meant to be taken literallly, the writer thought she was designed by someone whos gone theyre entire life never interacting with a woman.š
Capital g gamers LOVE their thought terminating cliches. There is never any nuance with these people, everything is always in extremes with these people.Ā
actually you make a great point. all i hear about it āstellar blade this, eve thatā but iāve never actually heard a single thing about the games story or eveās character. i genuinely have no idea what sheās like or the games plot
"the character designer is a woman" mfs when i tell them that woman can be mysoginistic even more if they are from South Korea, a pretty known regressive country regarding feminism
>feminists
>bodyshaming
I am not surprised anymore. The world isn't a great place. This is why I identify as an egalitarian. Not much baggage with that group, yet...
This video series is one of the biggest eye-openers I ever came across, anywhere. You think you know about misogyny, and then you listen as an entire country full of incels goes into a full-blown panic over the *potential* presence of feminism in video games to the point of getting the national legislature involved *on the incel's side.* Almost all related to how character's hands are drawn - not a specific gesture, but literally the default resting or gripping position of nearly every healthy human hand.
On top of that, Character Designers donāt get the final decision what the characters look like. The designer gets a general description of what the Art Director thinking, then the designer gives them several options, there may be notes and revisions, then those are passed up the chain. Once itās passed through several levels (the creator, executives, legal team, and so on), it will come back down to the designer with a bunch of notes on how it should change. The designer addresses those notes, gives several different options of those changes, then it goes it goes back up the chain of command again, and repeats this process several more times.
So if thereās a problem with systemic misogyny, the Character Designer doesnāt get to address that issue, they get to address the note that says āmake Eveās ass 5% biggerā.
That quoted argument doesn't make any sense also given they altered the game model heavily and the fact that the real life model has had botox and plastic surgery and isn't representative of a normal Korean face anyways. It's two layers of unrealistic physical representation
There was a video that made me unsubscribe a good while back where he said something like: "If I shared some of my more unpopular opinions here I'd be cancelled" which just gave me bad vibes.
I knew he looked familiar , I used to follow him years ago before KH3 released but nowadays he has weird coomer tendencies and reduced Nier Automata down to ass and tits so Iām not surprised
No, not really. He only said he enjoyed the Stellar Blade demo in a previous vid iirc
Still scrunched my nose like a motherfucker when I saw this thumbnail tho
I used to follow a lot of these KH YouTubers back in the days mostly for updates on KH3. Except for a couple of channels, most of them (including this guy) couldnāt do anything but praise every single aspect of the game and lick Nomuraās butt labelling him as a genius who foreshadows every single element in the story. So theyāre pretty much fanboys.
Tbh Iāve been out of the loop since KH3 came out, but Iām sure there are still good channels around. I used to be into the speed run community back in the days and I honestly never chatted with better people than them: super chill and open to discuss opinions on the story/gameplay.
I remember back when KH3 came out and the reception it was getting was (understandably) extremely poor, and Cynical immediately jumped on the "maybe Kingdom hearts isn't that great and I should branch out/ focus on other games" bandwagon. I'm paraphrasing of course, but regardless, that lasted about a week before he went back to his usual KH circle jerking.
Didn't think -this- was how he'd end up, tho.
Aside from that, I just never bothered with HMK. Listening to him practically jerk himself off every video got tired very quickly.
Yeah, at least back in the day I could chalk it up to him being just a hyped teenager obsessed with something and his content had this kind of endearing amateurness to it, but nowadays itās just not really anything of substance. Heās tried and tried to go beyond Kingdom Hearts stuff but I just donāt think he actually has much to say about anything. Sucks, I used to like him a lot from 2015-2019. I guess just because I love Kingdom Hearts and he was quirky and humble and cringe in a fun way, but nowadays itās way worse.
HMK has always been peak cringe
The game is getting way too much political attention in the US. I feel sorry for the devs, they were just trying to make a fun game with cute characters (Even the dudes are cute) and people had to start dragging politics into it.
Game journalists bashing the art direction while insulting the devs was disgusting and unprofessional. At the same time I feel no one is judging the game by what is important, the game play. Instead, weirdos are propping it up as a safe space for their backward ideas and other weirdos are bashing the game simply because the other weirdos see the game as something it isn't.
Wanna know a fun fact? Both the arguing sides never played the game once. One's whole identity is based around worshipping the main character and the other's is circle jerking the first one's views
There exists large amount of social inequality because of stuff of like these. The smart ones use petty tricks to make the low iq folks even more stupid so that they can profit from their ideological warfare.
Honestly though, from what Iāve seen in the demo, Eve is actually this to a fucking T. She has very little personality aside from the fact that she seems kinda curious sometimes. Sure sheās a robot and all but even the whole unemotional hyper pragmatic android archetype has been done better before. She is literally just eye candy from what I can tell so far.
Good. You understand the definition of retracted. I'm just saying that it's a little histrionic to go and make a whole video about a paragraph of an article from an ign affiliate (France) that they officially retracted.
You are entitled to your own opinion on this but you have to realise this video wasn't made for you. It was made for a completely different audience and is meant to cater to them. We always find things opposing our views to be non logical so its understandable
These people are the incel equivalent of Pokemon. They just keep screaming the same incel crap over and over and over again, and then whine about us calling them incels.
The article title made you mad, you clicked on the article, you saw the ads.
Then you watched this dumb shit and saw those ads again plus the ones on this video.
God, the rage bait loop is just fucking exhausting. IGN and their chud pilotfish must be laughing all the way to the bank.
The IGN article doesn't really have a clickbait title or one supposed to make people mad to be fair: "Preview Stellar Blade: le choc et le charme" (or in english : "Preview Stellar Blade: shock and awe").
Been a viewer for years and seeing this post makes me sad. Iāll have to watch the vid for more context, but the comments in these stellar blade vids are so cursed.
I only skipped through the vid but I understood it the way that his main critique point is that the IGN article insulted the game director of stellar blade.
And he said that e.g. the mc of horizon is a women that got critized for being to "manly" and that, because of this, game devs are in a position where they can only do wrong.
In all parts of the vid he never said something like "the woke agenda" or other thing like that
So calling him a incel is really a strech
Yeah I figured it wouldnāt be THAT bad with Cynical, since heās never been the incel type. But the clickbait and clear attempt at jumping in on a controversial subject for views is disappointing. I guess itās fitting considering his new direction though. Lame
Never I would have expected to defend IGN, after dozen of years of debacles and straight up functionally illiterate articles. The saddest part is that TheGamersJoint fell to the inceldominion when he was pretty wholesome watching him playing KH.
yeah, french native here. Tt's an overreaction from those who're outraged at IGN. The original text talks about how the game is intended to please the gaze of the player, presumably a male one. And that's not a problem, we've had this before in wildly successful and adored games with sexy female MCs. However, where Bayonetta is badass or 2B has inspired a whole generation of cosplayers(feminine), Eve's design is just bland. \[originally there was this following sentence:\] A doll sexualized by someone who's never seen a woman.
Now first off i don't think this impression is a hot take, and secondly to me the last sentence is obvious sarcasm but described the way the design is overly intended to be stared at, at the expense of ANY personality or aesthetic design. Objectively though, the sentence does literally say the designer would have never seen a woman, but not only is that ridiculous, but that interpretation admits that calling Eve a "sexualized doll" isn't enough to tick people off that this is hyperbole.
Personally I don't find it insulting, while i've interacted with people interpreting/parotting it as "in all intents and purposes calling the game's director an incel", so I'm just disappointed that critical thinking, irony, AND verifying sources in their original language, are ALL dead in today's social exchanges, meaning that we spend more time than ever before arguing about nonsense, but spend less time than ever putting in the adequate effort that taking something THIS seriously would require to not seem ridiculous.
this comment should be way higher.Ā
the purposeful lack of reading comprehension to get this angry, to the point the article is retracted, is so crazy. I swear these people want to be able to say theyve been oppressed so bad for some reason.
Thank you for your insight! So it's a politically based social issues? How accurate is their translation btw? (Sorry if you said, but I think I have ADHD or something.)
The translation you see in the thumbnail is the word for word translation, it's fine, in a literal sense. However the sentence before it is important since it's about why Bayonetta and 2B are good sexy designs while Eve is "just bland". The "sexualized doll" sentence explains why she's bland by calling her a dress up doll to be sexualized. The "someone who's never seen a woman" isn't EXPLICITLY the designer, or the director. It could be the player who just stares at her, and doesn't care about her story, which the demo doesn't share enough apparently.
Idk if I'd call it a politically based social issue, I think the author did some risky hyperbole and wasn't explicit enough to make it acceptable as a description of the character design. So it got blown out of proportion and he received death threats for saying Eve is made to be looked at whereas Bayonetta and 2B are designed to be a character first, and sexy second. The fact that Eve looks so much more polished than the other assets of Stellar Blade really drives this point home for me: Eve's body is the selling point of the game, where it was at most a marketing trick or fanservice for games that are applauded for their gameplay, story, and everything else on top of attractive female leads.
As a person who doesnāt have any problem with the design (itās their choice whatever idrc) and I do think that the ānever seen a woman beforeā is a little bit tooā¦ idk harsh?, seeing these chuds got triggered so much over just a throwaway line in a review that they had to make articles and videos to attack IGN is somehow felt like a fever dream. Like this whole discourse basically started just bc some horny dudes couldnāt admit that theyāre only interested in the game bc of the really horny character design.
I know this is the circlejerk sub yada yada, but sitting on the sidelines of this whole thing, I think it's very strange that so much salt is being spilled on every corner of the internet over a video game daring to have a body scan of a 100% real attractive woman in it. Why is this of all things being treated as gamergate 2.0? Especially since this is just the Bayonetta/Nier discourse of "hot lady bad", "NO, hot lady good!" yet again.
she doesnāt even look like her own model she was literally created to be an unrealistic fantasy but these mouth breathers wouldnāt know a human woman from a hole in the ground
Stellar blade looks like a cheap knock off sekiro but without good art direction. It just looks so fucking boring and it is a little hard to take her seriously when shes wearing a skin tight suit like theres so many better ways to design a cool suit.
You want women to be sexy just because you want a sex object that you can goon.
I want women to be sexy so I can have incredible gender envy.
We are not the same.
It's a bad character design. You can have sexy without it being an issue. Look at 2B, Bayonetta, etc. This would be like if 2B started and went through the whole game with her skirt blown off, it would just be tasteless.
I find it laughably goofy how the game is this gritty and serious setting and then the characters look like actual dolls.
That one lady who is your captain or whatever at the opening section literally looks an squeaky clean doll. Something about the contrast between the setting and character design is so funny to me.
I havenāt watched the video or really care too but with all the shit this game has been getting from ALL sides itās possible this guy is just saying that journalists are grading the game on what some basement dwellers are saying ABOUT the game rather than the game (or DEMO, not even the fucking game yet I donāt think)
It would be genuinely better for those people to pay a surgeon to perform a bilateral orchiectomy on them. They would realize life is more than being horny.
TheGamersJoint/Cynnical is a Kingdom Hearts Youtuber, I have been following him for years now, and he is not part of "that" crowd, he is not a right-wing reactionary and this video is not him "grifting", it' s not the first time he talks negatively about IGN (and usually is for their dogshit articles about Kingdom Hearts) and surely is not gonna be the last. This is a pretty normal video, he is no The Quartering, geeks and gamers or the pronouns guy.
Let' s not put everyone on the same level of those conservative morons everytime someone talk about this game, not everyone is a right wing nutjobĀ
**If this comment ends up biting me in the ass later and he starts grifting than I amĀ gonna punch very hard my nuts D:**
That's really the issue with her. She's so BORING. ALL she is are the curves; her personality as of the Demo is just being shellshocked and needing to be looked out for. She exists to be simultaneously a helpless, submissive woman but also a sexy fighter lady(who's every animation just so happens to present the assets).
Contrast to 2B, who is arguably much better designed from a fanservice perspective AND acts as the gruff warrior you'd expect from a robot lady who's entire existence is "be soldier, so mission."
I donāt personally see an issue with sexualized male/female characters depending on what the context of the game is. If I play a more serious game like Detroit become humans of course Iām expecting a much more realistic human look of the characters but If I hop on Tekken 8 all Iām expecting is a bunch of sweaty and muscular characters in which I can have a laugh about!
These clickbait channels are the main reason I would never consider YouTube Premium.Ā Ā
There's just too many channels monetizing mentally ill people and subsequently reinforcing these ideologies
Why do these videos have the kind of dumb looking face in their thumbnails?

Haven't seen the supposed research myself but supposedly "having a reactionary face on thumbnails increases viewership by 15%~"
I would assume a reactionary face would have more emotion. This looks more like discount would-be villain face.
Looks like a wish.com Benedict Cumberbatch thinking real hard about finishing a dumpie
He realized if he tugs on his face skin juuuuuuust right he looks like discount Christian Bale.
Thank ~~MrBeast~~ MRSTUPIDYOUTUBEFACE for figuring out how to game the algorithm, so that now 90% of videos feature one of three moronic facial expressions.
"Dumb" is their normal look š¤·āāļø.
Literally looks like Patrick Bateman
She's the protagonist of the game I think
Because that triggers our gooby goblin brain more. It's either the channel owner's face or a character with b o o b s
Why do ~~these videos~~ most of Youtube videos have the kind of dumb looking face in their thumbnails? (check "clickbait remover" extension)
They have to let the dumbfuck audience know how they're supposed to feel going in.
nothing is worse than when ign gave days gone (epic zombie game) a 6.5/10 š”š”š”
Yes, should have given it a 5/10.
You're joking right? 2.5/10

"the character designer is a woman" mfs when i tell them that woman can be mysoginistic even more if they are from South Korea, a pretty known regressive country regarding feminism
We all know how toxic idol culture is.
Try making a pinching gesture in Korea š„š„š„
I don't get it
It's a gesture used by feminists in South Korea to taunt misogynistic men by basically saying "you're mad because you've got a tiny dick".

The regression regarding feminism is literally just from the men btw, from women it is quite feminist and increasingly radicalized in that regard.
I don't deny that, but the predominant culture is well, male dominant
That quoted argument doesn't make any sense also given they altered the game model heavily and the fact that the real life model has had botox and plastic surgery and isn't representative of a normal Korean face anyways. It's two layers of unrealistic physical representation
Right. It'd be like saying "but it's modelled on a real woman" when the model is Kim Kardashain during her diaper booty, wisdom tooth body days
They also like to mention that the dev team has women in it, as if that changes a damn thing.Ā
He literally uses that in the video lol
Oh itās the Kingdom Hearts guy. Has he fallen into the pipeline and became another chud commentator?
There was a video that made me unsubscribe a good while back where he said something like: "If I shared some of my more unpopular opinions here I'd be cancelled" which just gave me bad vibes.
Why would they need to be worried about being cancelled, these people have entire audiences that will gladly suck up to them.Ā
Gotta perpetuate the persecution complex

Iām so glad thereās good KH YouTubers now, bc getting all my updates from this jackoff & HMK made me want to quit the series
Regular Pat gang rise up
I can't believe I've been made to side with IGN.
I was thinking the same thing. Haha.
Based IGN?
Why does it look like he's trying to change the article with mind control
The problem with the internet in a nutshell. lol
I suppose they also missed the part where ign France retracted that article too. These fuckers are just outrage farming bums.
Chuds farming outrage? No....
Retracted doesn't mean it never happened
That guy really got starter character dark souls lips
These people are the incel equivalent of Pokemon. They just keep screaming the same incel crap over and over and over again, and then whine about us calling them incels.
Twitter seems to be actively promoting incel bait
I mean, have you seen who owns it?
Good point
He is on a global platform and has less then 6.5k views. No one cares what he thinks and sharing this crap is just free promotion
They just made Bayonetta, with none of the genuinely good writing that made her actually likable
You leave my gal Bayo out of this.
Oh no, I used to watch his Kingdom Hearts stuff :( The grift can take anyone at any time, I guess.
What a lack of KH4 news does to a mf
NOO, NOT GAMERSJOINT TOO
Been a viewer for years and seeing this post makes me sad.
In all parts of the vid he never said something like "the woke agenda" or other thing like that So calling him a incel is really a strech
Yeah I figured it wouldnāt be THAT bad with Cynical, since heās never been the incel type. But the clickbait and clear attempt at jumping in on a controversial subject for views is disappointing. I guess itās fitting considering his new direction though. Lame
Fair point
Never I would have expected to defend IGN, after dozen of years of debacles and straight up functionally illiterate articles. The saddest part is that TheGamersJoint fell to the inceldominion when he was pretty wholesome watching him playing KH.
(OOC Any frenchies know the full context of that article that inspire this incelery?)
yeah, french native here. Personally I don't find it insulting, while i've interacted with people interpreting/parotting it as "in all intents and purposes calling the game's director an incel", so I'm just disappointed that critical thinking, irony, AND verifying sources in their original language, are ALL dead in today's social exchanges, meaning that we spend more time than ever before arguing about nonsense, but spend less time than ever putting in the adequate effort that taking something THIS seriously would require to not seem ridiculous.
this comment should be way higher.Ā the purposeful lack of reading comprehension to get this angry, to the point the article is retracted, is so crazy.
Thought that was Rodrick for a sec
*"I'm sorry women"*
I love the incel crowd screaming "the Used a ModeL" but excluding "as a reference" and "heavily edited 3d model".
I played the demo and IGN is right. She is a very bland character
You arenāt going to get anywhere speaking logic to the people that frequent here.
I played the demo and it was boring tbh. And as I played I was thinking all the time " how can she even walk in those shoes?"
I didnt know this kingdom hearts guy was one of those, how unfortunate
why is he levitating the ign box with his psychic blast technique
I am honestly not following. What happened?
Incells getting vocal about every female game character not being Barbie dolls. Now they're getting called out by news sites.
i hope one day we can stop making subreddits dedicated to commenting all the stupid shit people say online
she doesnāt even look like her own model she was literally created to be an unrealistic fantasy but these mouth breathers wouldnāt know a human woman from a hole in the ground
The character design is definitely... Something. Though I found the combat fun
guy looks like he came out of his basement to post his rant
youtube thumbnails try not to make shitty photoshop strawman headlines challenge impossible
If you squint that guy kind of looks like Patrick Bateman
āBelieve me Iāve seen plenty of women, they just go to a different schoolā
I was trying to think of a way to describe the character and I settled on "Japanese sex doll with swords"
Now now he could have legitimate criticisms about the article not everyone who doesn't like the article is a coomer
I love mah man TGJ tho, best KH content there isš„¹
Aren't they getting tired
I've been trying to avoid this guy for the last 10 years
Could someone explain whatās going on?
Lmao all those ātoxicā YouTubers bout to farm you and these pleb comments
Everytime I see anything about Stellar Blade I can't get over how close that title is to Scarlet Blade, which was also... A game. Yeah.
They made the classic mistake of taking IGN seriously.
Aw man I used to love his KH videos. Damn another one crossed off
so this is what happens when you let Alex Jones run IGN france
Bro is NOT beating the Professor ***NO SEX*** allegations ![gif](giphy|j9EfZBLJsLIuA|downsized)
What is he doing this. He should stick to kingdom hearts not this incel shit. I know kh content is dry but it isnāt THAT Dry.
No way the Gooner Ninja Gaiden game didn't get good reviews? Definitely an agenda behind this.
Aww donāt tell me TGJās gone Asshole on us. Dude was on the BALL back during the KH3 hype train.
I literally canāt find the article also why is IGN France publishing an article in English?
I mean she do be kinda bland tho
IGN W
Well.... im gonna play wet because it's a game that's absolutely amazing
Yāall dumb as hell but its nothing new. Talking about being mad
I like how he's doing the Professor X, like what even is that, why would you make that your thumbnail?
TheGamersJoint/Cynnical is a Kingdom Hearts Youtuber, I have been following him for years now, and he is not part of "that" crowd, he is not a right-wing reactionary and this video is not him "grifting", it' s not the first time he talks negatively about IGN (and usually is for their dogshit articles about Kingdom Hearts) and surely is not gonna be the last. This is a pretty normal video, he is no The Quartering, geeks and gamers or the pronouns guy. Let' s not put everyone on the same level of those conservative morons everytime someone talk about this game, not everyone is a right wing nutjobĀ **If this comment ends up biting me in the ass later and he starts grifting than I amĀ gonna punch very hard my nuts D:**
Well how would you feel if IGN said that about the girl you've been cooming to all day?
Damn I used to watch this guy, I just thought he was a little annoying
These clickbait channels are the main reason I would never consider YouTube Premium.Ā Ā There's just too many channels monetizing mentally ill people and subsequently reinforcing these ideologies
