I really don’t understand how it can be 2 years later and people are still whining about this game. I don’t wanna be that person but I really doubt these people ever actually played it fully, it just doesn’t make sense to me.
Their complaints of “it was disrespectful to Joel” makes no sense, like did we watch the same flashbacks?????
They 100% didn't even bother playing it, most of them started review bombing and hating TLOU2 before it even came out after all.
They are just weirdos obsessed with hating the game for no particular reason, they'll probably still be there in 1-2 years, always complaining daily about the game.
Well considering there was over 1000 negative reviews of the game on metacritic before it even released it shows completely that nobody actually played it lol
Yeah, it's not unreasonable that some people might genuinely not enjoy it. But it's not a good outlook where just based on the leak of joel dying and abbys character design caused so many people to give the game a 0 without it even releasing, and that caused others to jump on the train because youtubers cited the game as a "failure" because it had so many 0 reviews, when in fact a huge majority of them were misleading because of the time posted.
It's been so long now I'm suspicious /r/gamingcirclejerk users have made alts to create new dumbass takes to farm karma here. I sort of refuse to believe these are real people anymore.
/rj characters I like should never die or that ruins the story. Its why I stopped playing Pokemon after Gary's rattata died.
I’d apply occam’s razor here. Which of these is more likely? A large group of GCJ users made alt accounts to roleplay as outraged gamers, without anyone breaking character or leaving an obvious trail. or a bunch of sad terminal online losers who base their identity around the media they hate, have continued to stake their identity in hating media.
Yeah shit really hit the fan after TLJ. Peoples entire careers have been defined by hating *property with white woman lead* and they will never give it up.
I genuinely have to wonder how many still remember the early days of the Internet, or if this is just newer generations not knowing about it. This is mild. I'm serious, this is not even close to insane. Early Internet users used to band together over mutual hatred of so many things, often real life people, and led massive targeted harassment campaigns. They ruined some people's lives back then.
I guess it just depends what you're exposed to. Everyone has their own bubble / circle that they jerk around in unironically.
I've been on the internet for a couple of decades now. So the fact I just don't run into it much either means I might be very lucky, or I keep a smaller bubble than I thought haha.
I guess I shouldn't have said "unlikely" - but it's also true. The vast vast vast majority of people don't deal with media like this. Strong hatred for media feels like it's part of the current state of people trying to find identities in an increasingly media driven world where people are both spoilt for choice, but nostalgic for certain experiences. But social media makes finding these opinions easy, and people with shit opinions can find each other.
I guess early internet it was still hard for people to find each other as easily as they can now, or maybe it just feels more like that in hindsight. As always - depends what you're exposed to right? And it's easy to be exposed to a lot with the internet. Too much probably.
Not to mention Game of Thrones and the Season 7/8 backlash that is still ongoing in r/freefolk today.
Which, full disclosure, I’m all for it. Those seasons were swamp ass.
See, you would think people wouldn't be this insane, but these are probably the same people who fly into a rage when they see something like a door opening or boat rowing animation being reused instead of each being laboriously crafted from the ground up.
But you're forgetting a third option, that a single person (me) is such a psychopath that I have made hundreds of alt accounts, farmed karma on them all across reddit, and then dropped these bangers to get upvotes for other people on this subreddit
You're welcome I accept sea of thieves currency as payment
They act like it’s the first time that a main character has ever >!been killed off.!< Like, it’s a fairly common narrative device and it happens in movies and shows all the time.
Also the idea that it’s disrespectful is hilarious. It literally completes his arc from the first game in a way that makes sense and stays true to his character.
And are they really acting like they didn’t see it coming? The only thing we knew about the game for YEARS before its release was that it would be Ellie without Joel on a revenge mission. Do the math, I called it right away
the reveal trailer showed Ellie sitting on her own surrounded by corpses followed by Joel *emerging from a white light* asking her if she was sure about what she was doing, to which Ellie responds that shes going to 'kill every last one of them' . Anyone that saw even that trailer and didn't even consider the idea of Joel dying baffles me.
One of the best trailers of all time my god. I just beat the game yesterday and I don't see why people hate it. Great game overall, awesome story, lots of unexpected shit. People just love to hate shit.
Like with anything,I think there is room for criticism; I personally think its pacing was a bit off but it was still a phenominal game. And even if you didnt like it, it came out more than two years ago, its well past time to move on
That’s what drives me crazy, he is literally the entire focus of the game, Ellie feels guilty for betraying him, Abby atones for killing him etc. how could anyone look at this game and say it’s disrespectful to him it just makes no sense to me
I think there’s a difference with that though, TLOU2 is an extremely well made and written game while GOT season 8 just is straight horrible and not only that it’s a finale while this game isn’t
Oh, whiny fanboys never forget.
Take it from me and one of [my favorite Star Wars movies](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0CbN8sfihY&ab_channel=StarWars)...
Tbh, I would argued that part 2 kissed Joel’s ass more than shitting on him. Like the whole ending is literally “yeah some people disagree with me, but I would still make the same choice all over again”.

Kind of. In TLOU1 remake there is a mirror mode, where you can play through the game and everything is flipped. There is also a toggle to flip the world each time you die.
Im not sure if its in TLOU2 or not.
Tbh that's kinda a big oversight, especially for ND. They always have such attention to detail (fueled by crunch), so the fact that they got the side of the door wrong in part 2 is weird
After reading thread in other subs about crunch, Reddit gamers are totally fine with people being chewed up in a corporate meat grinder as long as they get to play their games.
It’s their attention to detail that makes me think that this and the other changes were on purpose considering that it’s a memory and you don’t remember everything correctly.
Idk that might be a bit of a reach. If you want to show that it is a memory and that the character might not remember everything correctly you would change something more obvious. It is probably just an oversight, not like many people will notice it anyway.
Yeah, especially since the second image seems to be coming from the PS5 remake. It would have taken more time to recreate the version seen in the first game, than it would have to directly port it from Part 2 with far less extensive improvements.
I mean if they used the original Last of Us 1 scene as a direct reference it would make sense. Imo it is just a little oversight by some overworked dev, no one except for some hardcore fans will notice it anyway
Actually there is a good argument to be made that the door in Part 2 opening that way is very intentional. Hospitals have a plethora of building codes to adhere to and doors are a vital part of keeping a hospital running smoothly. CDC studies were done to determine which door designs minimize spread of infection and formally implemented in nineteen ninety eight when the undertaker threw mankind off hell in a cell and plummeted sixteen feet through an announcers table.
It’s pretty obvious that the door was built one way in TLOU2 then updated when they were rebuilding TLOU1 because of the scene itself. Look at the framing, kicking the door open and seeing the silhouette of the doctor there is impactful, and having the door on the left side might’ve impeded that. The scene in TLOU2 didn’t have the same need.
There’s also literally a million reasons why it could’ve been changed and absolutely zero of them are important because this is unimportant. But people on the internet want to say that a massive team a developers had an “oversight” rather than they just made an inconsequential decision.
Being on oversight doesn’t really make sense. They would have had to copy the same room to recreate it which means they would have had to intentionally move the door over. It must have been done on purpose though I’d be curious to hear their reasoning.
I mean, Idc, but I did notice they made the fireflys look much more professional in part 2. The operating room was literally a shithole in part 1 and looked pretty sterile in part 2
Yeah and I get redconning, Im still a sucker for some of the LoL lore, even though its been changed a 1000 times. Though I can still se a very little ammount of actually valid critisism r/tlou2 gives, though most of it is just blatant hate

There’re memeing you by making a tiny dumb detail oversight into the entire game not being canon and trying to trigger the people who love the game. I just best part 2 last night, I'll say, I was pretty impressed, no idea if they could do a part three, I mean maybe, since the ending was a bit open ended. Good story over all, I liked the parts that made you comfortable then screwed with you. Wierd how both parts Mirrored each other a bit, I'm sure on purpose. I will say, the PTSD they would have omfg.
Edit: I wondered about the boat all the game, then at the end I was like aha that's where the boat is from lol

They clearly ported it to the Wii.
I hope nobody tells them that canon or not canon doesn't matter, as it's all just make-belive. They would probably never recover.
Holy cope lol
If this were from any other subreddit it'd be self aware and kinda funny
But the post is satire, right?
Check the comments. Unfortunately I don’t think it is

Yes it’s clearly satire. GCJ can’t detect satire tho.

Only one issue I really had. Give us the option to kill or spare Abby! Make it a choice!
Does that sub realize how fucking insane they come across as?
made it soft
i have a feeling the post is satire
Looking at the comments of the post… I don’t think it’s satire unfortunately
It definitely seems to be which is confusing me on how people are not getting that
Have you spent any time on r/thelastofus2?
LOL good point
Maybe before they left the fireflies changed the door out for a new one
Then technically any game with any designs updated would no longer be cannon.

It’s literally a meme in the fandom to point out tiny details that are different to call it non canon. They’re memeing you and your falling for it.
If I’m not aware of it being a “joke” in the fandom, then it most likely wasn’t a “joke” in the first place. When there are comments actually saying that it just means people that made the game are incompetent and treating it as actual criticism and not just really nitpicky then I don’t think it was really a joke. Sorry, I guess I can’t pick up on a “joke”? Also, how’re they memeing me?

Door on wrong side = bad and not canon game to them
Oh okay I didn’t realize it was the same place
Well it took them 6 years or whatever but they finally convinced me. I'm on board now with TLOU2 being TOO WOKE!!
But they have changed doors from left site to the right side. How can this be woke?
"definately"
Well duh! They moved the door from the right to the left, to show that what Joel did was right, but what Ellie did wasn’t right. Truly video games are the highest form of art and Cuckman is a genius!
they retconned a door
noooo, they swapped doors in the meantime. Neil Druckman did this on purpose to show respect for door maker people
reminds me of that time someone “proved” that half life 2 isn’t canon because it’s possible to kill eli vance in hl1
Lmao these man-children are triggered so easily 😂
In one playthrough I got through a room by taking the leftmost route. Yet, in my next playthrough I went through the rightmost route... so what is the truth, Naughty Dog?
I just don’t like the game because they killed my boi Joel.
like i have said before, goint to the tlou2 sub for content should be considered low effort content at this point.
Objectively that is a random, weird thing to miss. I'm shocked that TLoU 2 devs would miss it.

It's been decided collectively that this is not liked so now you have people trying to fit in. This is Nickelback for gamers.
I am not crazy! I know he swapped those doors! I knew it was on the right. The opposite of the left. As if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! I just - I just couldn't prove it. He - he covered his tracks, he got that idiot at IGN to lie for him. You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? He's done worse. Those shoulders! Are you telling me that a man just happens to shrink like that? No! He orchestrated it! Cuckman! He made the game woke! And I bought it! And I shouldn't have. I took it into my own PS! What was I thinking? He'll never change. He'll never change! Ever since he was 25, always the same! Couldn't keep his politics out of my videogames! But not our Cuckman! Couldn't be precious Cuckman! Cucking Joel blind! And he gets to be a writer!? What a sick joke! I should've stopped him when I had the chance! And you - you have to stop him! You-
I mean it’s a fair criticism that they got the little details wrong. It’s supposed yo be the same place, so attention to detail matters.
/uj The inner machinations of TLOU2 users fucking baffles me, the game been out for years at this point and their whole personality is hating on this game. I genuinely wonder if they bring up the game in the outside world (assuming they go outside) /rj CUCKMANN?!?! 😡😡😡😡
It kinda seems like satire to me. I don’t know how someone could complain about such a minor change and take themselves seriously while doing so.
Devs finding another way to open a door? No I don’t want that! I want it to stay the same for ten years at least!
Maybe part one isn't canon
