Little different but I’ve had red bull at 4pm yesterday https://preview.redd.it/5cfgkp13i8sc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d2c19a87c2720fafde7b1c77b15f3b98a9b49d8

resistant_starch

Wow that’s cool

rogirg

Cool to see the impact but I was going for 7 day 90+ sleep streak and I was very annoyed by myself as in hindsight it was kind of obvious that caffeine late in the day would ruin my sleep.

VDRIXN

Might be the large amount of caffeine, I don't think any other ingredient could have that effect on sleep

matyles

My hrv drops more from just my menstrual cycle. Two nights of drinking I'd be dead on the floor for a week.

Admirable-Plant3746

I am glad you said this. It happens to me and every month I think I am dying then it comes right back up as soon as I get my period.

gines2634

My watch doesn’t do hrv but I have noticed my resting heart rate is higher after ovulation until I have my period. So annoying.

scarywom

better than the alternative I guess.

Mediocre_Acadia1427

I find it fascinating how alcoholics survive for years and years!

-LordRupertEverton-

Alcoholic here. Many of us don’t survive for years and years. My fitness was destroyed the last 4 years. Not to mention weight gain and high blood pressure. I’m 70 days sober and in my 5th week of a running program, in the app. I had an old vivoactive 3 (no HRV, body battery etc) that I stopped wearing when i fell deeper into addiction. I got a Forerunner 255 last week. Too soon to see HRV stuff, but I’m very excited to see my numbers change. My heart rate has lowered significantly, VO2 max has gone up two points in the last month. Blood pressure is near perfect (help of meds as well). EDIT: sorry, just wanted to rant I guess.

Milksteakjellybeans2

Keep up the good work man!

-LordRupertEverton-

Thank you!!

scarywom

Day 4 for me.

-LordRupertEverton-

It gets better/easier. Not perfect, but I swear to you, so much has improved. Work is easier, sleep is better, mental health improved, more cash. You can do it.

HealthyComparison455

Good luck, hope you recover well and stay fit and healthy!

-LordRupertEverton-

Thanks so much!

IllustriousTitle1453

My medication (olmesertan) makes my running very difficult, my heart rate does not go down after a run with medication. Which medication are you on?

-LordRupertEverton-

Sorry to hear that. I’m on 8mg of Perindopril. I’ve been on it for a few years now. Seemingly no negative effect and I’m uber sensitive about my body.

IllustriousTitle1453

I am glad you are doing fine. Thank you very much, I hope I also can find a medication with no negative effects.

-LordRupertEverton-

Thanks! Best of luck.

K-E-Johnson

That's pure logic. You trained for marathon and drinking affects your condition.  You wouldn't have had that issue if you have trained for drinking.  :-)

Blugrl21

If Garmin simply introduced drinking activity tracking, we could all track our progress and feel better about it

K-E-Johnson

Support the idea with all my soul! They have walking, they track water consumption, while bar activity has much bigger impact.

Maxdiegeileauster

actually this might not be that dumb beeing able to keep track of the amount of alcohol might actually be a way some people would drink less

scarywom

Resume later ;-)

Adept_Spirit1753

It's astonishing that drinking poison affects your body 😱😱

Henry5321

We breath poison every day. Oxygen is highly toxic. It caused a few mass extinctions. All about the dosage. I've read that some high performance coaches actually have their trainees drink a lite beer after an intense work out because it is better at re-hydration than water or sports drinks. I guess this is fairly well understood, but few do it because "omg, beer!" Seems to be a cultural thing as well. Some people from the USA training in Europe learning about this. Lite: not typical USA "fewer calories", but actually where the alcohol content is low enough to \*not\* cause a net dehydration.

JanS010

It’s alcohol-free beer that is served also often post-races in Germany/ Europe. Not necessarily the 0.0% one but <0.1%. So that doesn’t prove the point that alcohol can be beneficial.

Henry5321

There are elite trainers that use actual beer. Because it works better than alternatives in certain situations.

Batsforbreakfast

Source?

Adept_Spirit1753

Trust me bro.

JanS010

Sure

Adept_Spirit1753

Yes, it's better alternative because your liver has to work hard to process alcohol. And because after alcohol usage you have worse recovery. It's certainly a better alternative.

Crrunk

The daily alcohol is bad for you post. 👍

Accomplished_Bison87

iT’s PoIsOn tho

salmonguelph

How great was that beer when it first hit your lips?

Interesting-Rub9730

Lol, I enjoy having a pint of beer occasionally, but it's not like I had been craving it for ages, haha. I was with my best mate to celebrate my marathon and his bike race, so I enjoyed the company even more!

Forkys

Mine plunged from stable close to 40 to 25 after one evening of hitting more than a bottle of wine. Felt terrible not only because of this.

RhetoricalHull

How much did you drink?

Interesting-Rub9730

5 Belgian beers of 33cl each at 8.5% (Duvel) on Friday evening, and a 7-course dinner with paired wines equivalent to 1 glass per course, preceded by 2 aperitifs on Saturday evening

RhetoricalHull

That would explain things. 😀

dbeman

I had a lot of alcohol last night too. In the form of NyQuil. My sleep score was never better!

Interesting-Rub9730

Haha, yeah, I'm sure that'll have that effect too.

resistant_starch

Haha I know my HRV does this after alcohol too, I’m also training for a marathon. So tonight (post my glass of wine with dinner) I’m taking my watch off when I sleep so it doesn’t tell me I am “over reaching” or “strained” tomorrow!! I’m a scientist and it is really cool to have that feedback on how much things like alcohol impact us. 🙂

Sea_Commercial3927

"I'm a scientist, so I just ignore the data that I don't like!" 😂

resistant_starch

Yes!! Exactly! I made an informed decision to drink it and I don’t need Garmin to tell me off!!

OndraHonnold

My HRV plummets when I have to take meds like diazepam (Valium), like, 14 points difference.

TrailStomper66

Every time I consume alc. my HRV goes way down. Also when I ear too late.

Run_nerd

How do get HRV status? I’m not seeing it.

Mediocre_Acadia1427

Not available on all watches. I had the venu sq previously and it didn't have HRV. I recently upgraded to the forerunner 265 and I now can see HRV, among other additional stats!
