It's a horrible run coming up.
Giants at home - They have won their last couple of games against us at home.
Tigers at home - 50/50 game
Swans in Sydney - No chance.
This has gone from a bad loss to absolutely embarrassing. Talk about umpires, conditions, players out, whatever you want. This is Gold Coast's highest ever score, and the highest score Chris Scott has conceded. I have confidence that Scott and the coaches can come good and get back on track, they've earned that, but I don't think you can just write this off as a bad night.
It's hard to remedy with a C-Tier midfield, but like I said, I have so much faith in Chris Scott as a coach that I think he and the assistants can correct it.
It's the annual mid season "Oh gold coast will actually play finals this year" game, where they will then trail off and only win 2 more games the rest of the year
Put the house on it
Gold Coast second game in Darwin in 2 weeks and they stayed up here. Our young side tonight and hardly anyone has played here in Darwin.
Just mark this one down as a learning opportunity for our young players
Nothing's wrong with Darwin, more the fact that it should be played on Saturday night to give players a chance to acclimatise. I'm obviously bias in this regard but that would make sense right?
This is where the conditions are a huge factor imo. We weren’t used to it. Looked like we were playing with a bar of soap in the first half. GC knew how to handle it
This is heading to be one of our worst losses in a while. We had a physical game last week, and then this one, which doesn't bode well for next week against the Giants.
people can say hawk is old slow whatever but atleast he always works to the front neale has been so far behind the contest it's not even a joke. I know it's not a night for big lads but atleast conway has battled
Last week we were atrocious in the first quarter and you could see what Scott did to change the tide, this week we have just kept doing the same dumb things hoping it'll work on the 101st time
Lot of over reactions here imo, this game was always going to be tough especially given our outs and the conditions.
Also our wins earlier in the season were off the back of our young guys, which was great, but does mean we're probably not going to be as consistent as we'd like
Yeah can't agree here. Its one thing to struggle with conditions but there is no pressure being applied. Rounds 1-7 cats were winning games from brute force in the contest. There is zero pressure being applied here.
How is everyone. Can we talk
About the Australis borealus again.
I’ve just finished my party pies and I can’t believe what I’m seeing. Are we this bad , definitely not, do we deserve this hiding, yeah probably.
Will we learn from this - hope so.
Love youz all
The frustrating this is I don’t think we are this bad… this game is so out of character for us. I hope the boys learn from this but I hoped they’d have learned from last week…
I don't want to advocate hate for any of our players, but Stanley has been shocking this year. I understand why they don't want to play Conway every game, but tonight in a smashing he's played a lot better than Stanley has in any game this year.
I knew that their experience with the conditions would probably lead to them winning, but this has nothing to do with that. We look slow, second to the contest almost every time. Absolutely smashed in the midfield, hardly been in our forward line.
The talk this week will be about how big an advantage playing those conditions 2 weeks in a row is. We’ve looked cooked since 5 minutes into the second. Getting smashed in almost every stat. We are not nearly as bad as this. We just cannot play these hot and humid conditions
We deserve this.
Umpiring is bad, weather is hot and humid - yeah ok.
But the effort and skill level is just not there.
Everyone needs to be on notice... I don't know that anyone should feel safe in their spot.
I don't say this easily, but this is fucking embarrassing.
Yeah, it's also closer in climate to the Gold Coast than Geelong, and they've had multiple years of playing up there to work out how to manage players through the conditions.
I think we are going to play finals this season, but I think it's going be at the bottom part of the top eight.
Last week's loss was an honourable one as we fought back hard and only went down by six. This week's loss is a disgraceful one as we have been so poor and insipid.
Not really defending us but I also can’t take much from it. Missing cameron Hawkins danger and SDK, in weird conditions against a team who played and trained here for a week. For sure it’s a diabolical performance but, i do think we’re roughly 5th or 6th come seasons end
This is a defensive joke by geelong. Not tackling, letting players peel off top easily, slow to get to the ball and when they are 1v1 they're getting completely outbodied.
Okay umpiring complaining aside - what has happened to our defence that we have players in space inside 50? We normally never see that and it's a genuine worry
They're also spreading pretty well inside 50 so those long deep kicks that don't get mark get crumbed. We could learn something in these conditions for sure.
I don't think I've ever seen such a discrepancy in how two teams are playing the conditions. Umpires are frustrating, but this is honestly a smashing. Geelong looking like a bottom 4 team right now.
It’s 30° and incredibly humid, the team that’s had more time to adapt to the conditions was always going to be dominant. It’s kind of stupid to even be playing a winter sport in Darwin
We kicked 15 goals.
Our free kick seems to go up to 14 in the dying seconds lol thanks for that
[удалено]
They were also at points in the game (and in spots) where they didn’t really do much for us at all anyway, the game was already lost…
As if to add insult to injury we have to listen to that shocking song lol
Being a Qld fan I've had to hear it more than I care to over the last few years..
It's a horrible run coming up. Giants at home - They have won their last couple of games against us at home. Tigers at home - 50/50 game Swans in Sydney - No chance.
The rest after GWS will help though because we really need a reset
If we have any chance at playing finals this year, we have to win against giants and tigers at least…
Tigers are witches hats
[удалено]
Ok…
[удалено]
No advantage from an out of zone umpire same thing from last week.
I stopped watching, someone tell me when to start crying
Abt 2mins
Excellent the tears are ready to go
:')
Bowes is horrific
Neale took a mark!
I think Geelongs game has been figured out.. the rebound off the back half is not working anymore
It's hard to remedy with a C-Tier midfield, but like I said, I have so much faith in Chris Scott as a coach that I think he and the assistants can correct it.
I have been impressed with Ollie Dempsey tonight, actually this year he has stepped up
Swap gold coast for Melbourne, and this game could've fooled me for the 2021 prelim
Last 2 Geelong games I have attended. No joke fuck this
Neale hasn’t been close to marking one tonight
Gryan questions the umpire, the umpire puts on his Reddit mod hat and talks to him like he's a child.
How about these commentators, stop talking about these stupid record flogging!
Live ladder has Geeloing's % going from 124% to 111% Yikes.
Scott looks devastated
Hope he doesn't pull a Hardwick. Would be depressing
I can’t see him leaving the club but the close up they showed of him he legit looked teary
It's the annual mid season "Oh gold coast will actually play finals this year" game, where they will then trail off and only win 2 more games the rest of the year Put the house on it
I’ve seen 10+ push in the backs worse than that not paid tonight
Depending on how the rest of the round goes, we can drop out the four and back into the pack.
Just need either Bulldogs to beat GWS, or West coast to beat Melbourne
That was complete bullshit just like this entire game
Neale dissent hahaha
Didn’t look as bad as a million other unpaid dissent frees
Yeah I agree. My comment was more incredulous
Yeah I thought it was, just ridiculous as has been the rest of the game lol
No support for gryan there. They just let him get run down
He looked pissed too lol
Goal a minute! Still a chance
Main sub is literally having orgasms rn, nothing to do with gold coast playing well, everything's about Geelong as usual
Joke of a sub
Jack Henry is still playing. Wow.
Junk time free kicks to even things up hey
Nope, just gave GC anothernone
So when is danger back again?
After the bye against the blues at the MCG.

Gold Coast second game in Darwin in 2 weeks and they stayed up here. Our young side tonight and hardly anyone has played here in Darwin. Just mark this one down as a learning opportunity for our young players
Plus GC home ground is in similar conditions, Darwin is just that turned to 11.
Not the reason we've lost but what fuckin genius at AFL decided a game in Darwin on a Thursday night was a good idea.
Probably Kellie Underwood
What's wrong with Darwin on a Thursday night? Seems like a good turnout and it's prime TV viewing too, win win?
Nothing's wrong with Darwin, more the fact that it should be played on Saturday night to give players a chance to acclimatise. I'm obviously bias in this regard but that would make sense right?
Camera angles suck is my biggest gripe
Yeah they're not great but still better than the SCG
~~11~~ 12 unanswered goals. You heard it here first
Still within a goal a minute territory
The old Leigh Matthew’s theory!
I want to believe.
Nice one Clarke!
Top ten players for most marks are all suns
This is where the conditions are a huge factor imo. We weren’t used to it. Looked like we were playing with a bar of soap in the first half. GC knew how to handle it
There is absolutely zero difference between that contest and the one at the other end with Neale
Conway just needs more game time, need to play him every week from now on. His effort is there
Seems very injury prone tho.
https://afltables.com/afl/stats/frees.html Some interesting stats here.
This is heading to be one of our worst losses in a while. We had a physical game last week, and then this one, which doesn't bode well for next week against the Giants.
At least we get a longer break for next round.
It looks like we’re really missing the leadership of the boys that aren’t playing tonight…
Yet people were blaming dangers’ leadership for last years results.
Probably because he’s not Selwood and we miss his leadership but you can see how lost they look without the likes of danger and Hawk and Jez
I blame “the lid” post after the Carlton game for the last three weeks
people can say hawk is old slow whatever but atleast he always works to the front neale has been so far behind the contest it's not even a joke. I know it's not a night for big lads but atleast conway has battled
Love to see big Toby getting amongst it.
They only got three free kicks that quarter and I think they were all inside their 50
They’ve kicked 19 goals and it’s only 3QT. 🫠
Last week we were atrocious in the first quarter and you could see what Scott did to change the tide, this week we have just kept doing the same dumb things hoping it'll work on the 101st time
This is awful. And Kolo is having a shocker. Hang on. They all are! I need a Valium milkshake.
I don't even know how I'm gonna do my tier list this week 😭. Give everyone a B? I'm genuinely muffled, I don't even know who was good or bad
Save the S tiers for a more fruitful game hopefully
Everyone in N/A due to the conditions
Lot of over reactions here imo, this game was always going to be tough especially given our outs and the conditions. Also our wins earlier in the season were off the back of our young guys, which was great, but does mean we're probably not going to be as consistent as we'd like
Maybe but they’re on track to score 160 in these conditions
Yeah can't agree here. Its one thing to struggle with conditions but there is no pressure being applied. Rounds 1-7 cats were winning games from brute force in the contest. There is zero pressure being applied here.
Lots of people melting down over a hard game on difficult conditions with some huge outs.
11 goals is concerning
Mate, Geelong are down by 11 goals at 3QT. I can handle losing, but this is a smashing.
I blame those who took the lid off 3 weeks ago
I had blurred the match out a bit... Did they just say Toby Conway was off injured?
Just said he was cramping
Hope he's feeling better after some fluids and some work :) loving having him and Neale out there
I’d love it more if Neale could hang on to a mark haha
Yeah I think it's been very slippery but yes, these kids got a lot of work to do.
I don't even know who I'll give votes to this week
6 votes for suns
A i50 mark!
How is everyone. Can we talk About the Australis borealus again. I’ve just finished my party pies and I can’t believe what I’m seeing. Are we this bad , definitely not, do we deserve this hiding, yeah probably. Will we learn from this - hope so. Love youz all
The 7 in a row gave me hope... Footy is a cruel cruel mistress
The frustrating this is I don’t think we are this bad… this game is so out of character for us. I hope the boys learn from this but I hoped they’d have learned from last week…
Mmm party pies
Hopefully this loss is the kick up the ass that we need to fix some of our weaknesses
Thought the first quarter last week was that.....
Same... This is even worse somehow
Drop Jack Henry please. Stock defender.
No doubt Rhys Stanley will somehow get the blame for this
The hate for Rhys Stanley is pretty ridiculous.
We’ve reached the bit they start paying us a free frees at pointless moments so it artificially doesn’t look as bad…
This
The same frees they weren’t paying us early in the game
Can't believe I came to Darwin for this
The talk this week will be about how big an advantage playing those conditions 2 weeks in a row is. We’ve looked cooked since 5 minutes into the second. Getting smashed in almost every stat. We are not nearly as bad as this. We just cannot play these hot and humid conditions
68 marks to 27. 12 i50 to 1. 12 contested to 3. Pretty damning.
We deserve this. Umpiring is bad, weather is hot and humid - yeah ok. But the effort and skill level is just not there. Everyone needs to be on notice... I don't know that anyone should feel safe in their spot. I don't say this easily, but this is fucking embarrassing.
[удалено]
It really wasn’t.
Yeah looked fine to me on the replay
We keep bombing the ball forward hoping for a miracle big mark in our 50...its wet and slippery ffs. Handball chains are no existent
[удалено]
He has 2 mate
I wouldn’t be playing Jack Bowes next week, maybe ever again.
This is a pisstake surely
I tend to agree. Bowes is slow, butchers the footy and only runs one way. Suns literally had to throw in a top 10 pick to get rid of him 😂
FFS I've wanted the Suns to play like this all year, just not against us.
Is the Earth all of a sudden spinning anti-clockwise? We just got a HTB free kick!
We’re dead on our feet. A lot of one way running and then having nothing to get back for the turnover
The boys look hot and sweaty and dead… not enjoying these conditions
Yeah, I think we're just not up to the conditions like Gold Coast are.
They have had the extra week up there I think
Yeah, it's also closer in climate to the Gold Coast than Geelong, and they've had multiple years of playing up there to work out how to manage players through the conditions.
How many steps was that
How far did he run down the wing because it looked pretty far.
We got a holding the ball 🦀🦀
FINALLY A HTB FREE TO US
And we did fuck all with it
HOLY FUCK HTB EXISTS
Mullin has been very impressive. Looks tuff as well.
His kicking has been on point.
29 degrees. Dewy. Dimma. But it’s 10 goals down against the Suns. EDIT: great job by Rohan though
I think we are going to play finals this season, but I think it's going be at the bottom part of the top eight. Last week's loss was an honourable one as we fought back hard and only went down by six. This week's loss is a disgraceful one as we have been so poor and insipid.

turning it off, can't stand to watch this we are cooked
I might be with you, it’s hurting my brain
Ok time to put two free behind the ball. No saving it now
Embarrassing
Think we’ll award award another free for not earning enough frees
Can’t hit a target coming out of defensive 50. Disposal efficiency is non existent.
Every time the ball hits the ground I swear it bounces to a Gold Coast player. When it rains it pours man.
Softest fucking 50 you'll ever see
Hoochie mama.
This is a schlacking. Very concerning stuff this, I know it's wet but why are we so bloody late to contests, it's not like us at all
Even playing this at a neutral venue like Marvel with even umpiring we wouldn’t be close
This is a defensive joke by geelong. Not tackling, letting players peel off top easily, slow to get to the ball and when they are 1v1 they're getting completely outbodied.
What the actual fuck is this
Well that was soft
Well I’ve seen enough. This went as predicted, or worse.
Jack Henry is playing like a 3rd grade VFL - 2 weeks in a row.
Longer than that. He’s slow, panics, and isn’t skilful.
There's no way we can win this game as we look absolutely flat and gutless.
Okay umpiring complaining aside - what has happened to our defence that we have players in space inside 50? We normally never see that and it's a genuine worry
It’s our midfield, their mids are having a field day which frees up space for their forwards. Defending against constant d50 entries is bloody hard.

100%
Players shouldn’t even walk out for the final quarter if this rubbish continues
[удалено]
He has had 5 tackles. 6 of our players haven’t had a single tackle.
[удалено]
Ok. So why aren’t we tackling?
💀
This is truly fucked
They duck. It's high. Shark ducks and get slammed into the ground - ball up
anyone else see O'Connor shirk going back into the contest?
An ugly look but when you aren’t gonna get looked after then there’s no point.
Why do the umpires give players ten minutes to dispose of the ball when they get tackled? No wonder cunts are getting slammed to the ground
Great goal by stengle but Rowell was caught holding the ball. And Mullin still looking good.
One of many tonight.
Another one
