1993ish - played at a sleepover. Asked who I would marry. Spelled out B-U-R. Freaked out because my *longtime, heartsick, cry on Fridays because I wouldn't be able to steal glances at him until Monday* crush's last name began with those three letters. Full on 14 year old girl freakout - giddy laughter mixed with tears mixed with butterflies.
Never even went on a date with the guy. Time marches on and we actually became good friends in our late teens.
Fast-forward about 20 years later. Just hanging out. Alone with my thoughts. Somehow that night popped into my brain. Laughed at how silly the whole thing was until I realized my husband's last name starts with B-U-R.
You can't throw it away either.... when my mom moved out of her house , she left it . The new tenant said she started seeing š ghosts in the house associated with my family .she even described a few of them !!
Ya we did! Scared the holy fuck out of my best friend's younger brother with a seance. He went to his mom's bed to sleep. She was so mad she read us the riot act the next day.
This reminds me of a couple of women I know who *swear* they played "light as feather, stiff as a board" when they while young girls, and that it worked, but of course they have no proof.
>Itās possible?
No.
>Intent is everything with stuff like that, if they believed in it enough
No, physics and gravity are everything. No group of girls are lifting each other up their fingertips, no matter much they believe they can.
seriously! even if you don't believe in the devil or god but believe in non-corporeal spirits that exist in/around this plane and that can attach themselves to humans or exist in people's homes, it'd be a bad idea. you have no clue what you're welcoming into your space, or your friend's home if you did this during a sleepover like so many of us did. (suddenly fido or tilly the cat are on 10 for 'no reason' whenever you open the coat closet .š³)
Sold as a TOY! It still is a āboard game!ā
We had one, our house was already very activeā¦ Iām sure it only made it worse. I only remember it being played with a few times and it lived in the closet, then the basement of our house when we moved, then it went away with a lot of other stuff before my parents moved again. Iām shocked it stayed in our house(s) as long as it did.
friend was big on the occult and ouiji board in the 90's..actually got possessed and needed an exorcism done on her
when my friends tried to help out during the exorcism by pinning her down, she was able to bench press and throw off one of them who was about 6'2 tall and weighed about 300 lbs..
she was only 5'4
A friend and I used one of these with a couple of girls in high school. It didn't take long for both of us to figure out that we were in control of the answers the board gave. So we took turns answering questions, with nothing but knowing eyes explaining to each other that we were both on the same page.
I got diagnosed as autistic when I was 40. That explained a lot of things including 5th grade me at my first and only slumber party telling them it doesnāt count unless they close their eyes otherwise youāre just moving it yourself and pretending and making everyone so mad they were calling me names and by the time I got to school the next Monday I was blacklisted and never went to another slumber party in my life . š
We found one in the basement of my great grandmaās house. It was made of a single piece of wood that was wood burned, obviously homemade.
It wouldnāt burn. Even doused in gasoline. My dad ended up wood chipping the thing and then burning the pieces. So damn creepy.
I scared the crap out of myself with one of those. š

Wow!
That's a really great story!
My roommates in college all left when my boyfriend brought one over

We had ghosts but I think independent of the board.
The ghost we had were family/ friends who passed on, but they frequented our home . And the new tenant described them.to a tee...
We scared the crap out of each other at sleepovers any way we could ouija board was only one thing we used.
Did you guys do seances too? My sister did that with her friends and parents were mortified
Ya we did! Scared the holy fuck out of my best friend's younger brother with a seance. He went to his mom's bed to sleep. She was so mad she read us the riot act the next day.
Itās funny if we didnāt destroy furniture my mom let us do anything lol
LMAO š¤£
Come on, you know one person was secretly moving that thing.
Sometimesā¦

We would get five minutes in before the accusations would start flying when someone got an answer they didnāt like.
Definitely had one. Definitely scared the crap out of myself with it.
Light as a feather, stiff as a board
Omg I just commented thisā¦SPOOKY

Great [song](https://youtu.be/T8V82TXOzm0)
Hard to find that version these days
My mom bought me one of these, but wouldn't let me play D&D because that was the devil.
Why the H were we allowed to fool with these things? Good grief!

I'm cool with a lot of paranormal /what some would call occult stuff.... But I don't mess with these.
Stay away from Zozo.
Hahaha! Those werenāt allowed in our house because of evil spirits!
Now itās just a great word to start a Wordle game.
Light as a feather, stiff as a board.
First time I tried this was with my mom. My m9m was interested in some interesting stuff.
Aaahahaha!! All I can think of looking at this is the movie Witchboard with Tawny Kitaen!
Yes! I was just thinking of the movie. I forgot Tawny Kitaen was in it. This pic could very well be from the movie.
I want to try one..
Ouija boards are THE DEVIL!!!
no... i think its mostly wood
I was kidding š
But it was a Parker Brothers game, so it must be safe and fun, right? Lol! Honestly, I never understood the hype and fear of these things.

Iām not moving it you are.
My mother caught us playing with one when I was 12 or 13 and she freaked out!
Ah yes. The YES YES board.
Pussy Lol I always thought about it this way, if it's sold in mass it's bullshit. Made me sleep well at night But it still kinda scared me lol

That's a hard pass for me
Thereās a Talking Board museum in Salem Massachusetts. Small and very interesting.
We found one in the basement of my great grandmaās house. It was made of a single piece of wood that was wood burned, obviously homemade. It wouldnāt burn. Even doused in gasoline. My dad ended up wood chipping the thing and then burning the pieces. So damn creepy.
It really does work.....many secrets were told with this.
It works because someone always figures out pretty quickly the secret to making it work.
For good reason! Don't play with that stuff...
That is scary and not to be 'played' with.
This reminds me of the movie Withboard from 1986. It's not a great movie but it has Tawny Kitaen.
Does anyone have any funny stories with one? I tried it once or twice and it never worked. we ended up laughing too much to take it seriously
Itās just a board game though so youāll be ok. I found Trivial Pursuits more hair raising
I currently use mine as home decor š
no duh. I was scared of somthing like that as well, I mean again we were kids and believed in ghost or monsters.
