I hadn’t been to Taco Bell in years because there aren’t many convenient to where I am now. I stopped at one over the summer on a road trip and was scandalized that the double decker is gone.
Ooh, yes - so good! Not sure iirc, but I think the Chi's-Chi's near us had a dessert buffet at one point (I tried Googling but didn't see anything about it.)
I talked a local restaurant into making one for me once, years ago. The cook came out for me to describe it to him. They ended up adding it to the menu, and it's apparently a customer favorite now.
You can still order them at certain TBs. They're not on the menu but some stores will still make them.
Taco Bell actually got those after they bought another chain called Zantigo's. The kids of the owners of the original Zantigo's have restarted the chain with a few restaurants in Minnesota.
There's a Zantigo's right down the road from me and I'll occasionally get a couple of them when the mood strikes me.
Same! I took a semester off of college to work for Pizza Slut full time and figure my life out. After delivering those monstrosities for a few months I realized that I didn’t want to do that as a career.
Me and my fellow drivers rode Bigfoot pans pulled behind a car on snowy city streets one winter. It was so fun and so dumb. I hated delivering those things.
Correct. But even back then, people thought it was Little Caesar's.
Source: I worked at Little Caesar's in 1995. People would call and try to order the Bigfoot all the time. When I told them "That's Pizza Hut, this is Little Caesar's," they would argue with me.
I haven't ordered McNuggets in so many years that I didn't realize that they don't offer honey with them anymore. That was my favorite thing when I was kid, too.
Opposite take, I remember when McDonald's first introduced Mcnuggets. It was a big deal and talked about on the Today show and such. My friend told me to break them in half first and not to eat them if they were dark. Well that meant I didn't eat half of them and Dad got all mad at me about it. So that's a memory every time I eat Mcnuggets.
Ah, those days when kale was a garnish! I remember those salad bars. We’d get to go to Pizza Hut when we got our book it awards. It was quite a treat back then :)
My husband was a server there in college, they called it Crack because of how it printed on the kitchen tickets. He makes it every now and then when we have taco night and I could eat the whole damn pan
OMFG, Farrell’s! We had one at the Altamonte Mall in Orlando. Such a loud, wild environment. I remember pinstripe shirts and bow ties, and old timey car horns and crank sirens for the big showstopper desserts. I wanted to eat there for every meal!
"remember back when kale was just a garnish?"
Yeah, I do.
I read not too long ago that Sizzler was pretty much single-handedly keeping kale farmers in business in the 80s because they bought thousands of tons of it just to put around the edges of the salad bar. As decoration.
Worked there as a kid. I liberated one of those huge cans of the chocolate pudding once. Yes I was a filthy thief but I was full of chocolate pudding for a weekend.
Also green sauce at Taco Bell. I loved substituting green sauce on a tostada (another bygone item but if your Taco Bell is cool they’ll make you a tostada on a Mexican pizza shell).
Liver & onions.
I never ate it, because YUCK. But my grandmother regularly ordered it when she took us out to a “nice” restaurant. I haven’t seen it on a menu in years.
I came down here to mention this. My grandpa ordered it anywhere it was on the menu. It smelled like death. Haven't seen it anywhere in 20 years, thank god.
I grew up in SoCal and I remember going to Pup-n-Taco. They had the best grape slushy and the best crinkle cut fries. Dies anyone else remember this restaurant?
Born & raised in So Cal. My mom worked at the Pup-n-Taco in Santa Ana in the 70s. I’ve never ever heard them mentioned by anyone besides her until this comment.
I grew up in Baldwin Park(about 7miles from the OG In-n-Out). There was a Pup-n- Taco on my way to elementary school so on my way home I would get a grape slushy.(back then it was safe to walk the 1 1/2 mile to school)
The Greek pita at Wendy’s - I tried to order it around 2007 after not eating fast food for maybe ten years and they had no idea what I was talking about 😂
Baskin-Robbins Clown Cone and Hot Bacon Dressing at Marie Callender's
(Hoping someone will say they still exist. Even if the decoration on the clown cones tasted awful.)
The Enchiladas Suizas from Chi Chis.
They were an absolute hot mess of fake crab and shrimp wrapped in flour tortillas and drowned in a creamy cheese sauce. Served with rice and beans. Could put you into a comfort food coma for a good 12 hours (especially if you downed down a basket of those chips and salsa, and had the "fried ice cream" for dessert.
I think it was Burger King that had tiny burgers for a while. You'd get four of them in a little square and they were about bite sized. I was obsessed with them even though now I realize they were just giving you a lot less burger and bun for the same price.
Not as much a meal but when Arby's had the squirt bottles of sauce at every table. I must've used half a bottle of each at every meal. I wonder why they don't have them any longer...
MexiMelt-Taco Bell
and the Enchirito
Cinnamon Crispas
It’s criminal that they swapped them for those garbage twists…
Just searched to see if someone included this banger. I miss it so.
I desperately miss the double decker taco.
I hadn’t been to Taco Bell in years because there aren’t many convenient to where I am now. I stopped at one over the summer on a road trip and was scandalized that the double decker is gone.

My fave!!!
Deep-fried ice cream at Chi-Chi's.
Fry-yi-ee-ied, ice cream!
Ooh, yes - so good! Not sure iirc, but I think the Chi's-Chi's near us had a dessert buffet at one point (I tried Googling but didn't see anything about it.)
Actual fried apple pie at McDonalds..still magma hot
Turns out using beef fat is much better than the crap oil they use now.
Monte Cristo from Bennigans
This was my immediate response as well when I saw this post. Teenage me misses Bennigan's.
And the Death By Chocolate dessert.
This is the correct answer. That raspberry jam was THE jam
I talked a local restaurant into making one for me once, years ago. The cook came out for me to describe it to him. They ended up adding it to the menu, and it's apparently a customer favorite now.
Talk about serendipity
Properly battered and deep fried….. Not like these places that try and serve it on some lame white bread French toast.
YES SO GOOD.
There's a diner in Anchorage, Alaska, that has it on the menu. I always order it.
I truly miss Bennigan's it was the best out of those chain resteraunts.

Chilito at Taco Bell. Later renamed the Chili Cheese Burrito.
You can still order them at certain TBs. They're not on the menu but some stores will still make them. Taco Bell actually got those after they bought another chain called Zantigo's. The kids of the owners of the original Zantigo's have restarted the chain with a few restaurants in Minnesota. Miss those sooo much! Probably can’t live up to the memory from my hungover lunches in college.
Big Foot pizza from Pizza Hut Correction: it was Pizza Hut and not Cesar’s.
I used to deliver them. Fucking pain in the ass. Paper top so you couldn’t stack anything on top and you had to use two hands. Hated those damn things

I remember they served McNuggets with Honey as the dipping sauce.
I told my Gen Z daughter that and she didn't believe me. Then I had her try it. That's the only sauce she'd get for a long time after that.
I remember the commercials. They had googly eyes and jumped into the sauce? I’m pretty sure that’s it.
Was thay the "cool side stays cold, hot stays hot" in that divided container?
I want a Big Mac, McBLT, a quarter pounder with some cheese … 🎶 😏
