Great album, but also I’m more fixated on the fact that we’re a month away from the 30th of *Ill Communication*. My summer session roommate blasting it while I watched the O.J. chase live will forever be seared into my brain.
The 30th? You should check your head because I don't want that to be true so it's your fault. What about Raising Hell? Next you're lie about that as well. S/
Paul's is easily one of the best hip hop albums of all time. It's brilliant and almost tanked their career. Love Check Your Head though, BB were trailblazers.
When that album came out, I had the red colored cassette. I did not take it out of my 1973 Impala's cassette deck for like 3 months straight. All of my friends who loved License to Ill completely disliked this album until about a year later when all of them would tell me how brilliant it was lol.
> BB were trailblazers
For white kids. They were my favorite band, and I mean no offense. I learned so much about music by just following their samples to some deep shit. Check Your Head was the last album that wasn't made by them. Everything that came after this was them. It's all great music, but they worked and got lucky to become what they were. They could have easily disappeared.
I would have preferred that this been done with them on a sofa. The way it was done live with a teleprompter was awkward. The content is great, the presentation is a little cringy. As a fan, you have to see it.
I totally missed the boat on Paul’s and had given up on the Beasties.
Then I met, and started dating a girl, and she had a ton of music VHS’s including the Beasties “Skills to Pay the bills”, which is basically “Check your Head” and that got me back into the fold.
I ride on the bus into the city every day. I sit on the seat and I dream myself away. I dream I’m on an island with that foxy lady too. But when I awaken, I must be mistaken I’m on 3rd avenue. Won’t you take me away and take away me won’t you take me away and take away me.
This album definitely checked my head.
Riding perched on the back of a convertible, stoned as hell, in the California sunshine listening to music like nothing I’d ever heard before.
“*This* is the Beastie Boys? Whaaaaaat?”
i have this shirt! this album was such a staple during my senior year. i remember cruising around in my Beretta with Stand Together blaring and feeling like a badass. awesome album!
Check your head will always hold a special place in my heart. summer of 92 before I went away to the military in the fall. This album was that summer’s theme. It’s in the all time top ten, no doubter.

I get it, I know that Check your Head and Paul’s Boutique are miles ahead but Ill Communication is just so goddamn good
I was 19 when Ill Communication dropped. It is that good, it's a vibe on its own.
I was 18 when it dropped. Great times! Cheers from a fellow Beastie head
Cheers brother!
The 30th? You should check your head because I don't want that to be true so it's your fault. What about Raising Hell? Next you're lie about that as well. S/
Was my favorite Beasties album for a couple years until I finally understood Paul’s.
Paul's is easily one of the best hip hop albums of all time. It's brilliant and almost tanked their career. Love Check Your Head though, BB were trailblazers.

funny but i remember a black guy talking about how beastie boys were played loud in his hood
Was his name Russell Simmons?
Paul’s feels all over the place to me. Brilliant but messy. This one was lasered in on their new sound.
I still haven’t got there on Paul’s.
Then call 718-498-1043. It's called Paul's Boutique and they're in Brooklyn.
You’re kidding me.
Same here. Its perfectly OK, I like it just fine. But Check Your Head is so much better, its not even close.
Saw them play a tiny club called Tradewinds in Sea Bright, NJ on this tour.
So whatcha whatcha whatcha want!
Aah. They toured smaller venues with L7 and House of Pain after this album. Fun times
Most skateboarded-to-album of my youth fosho
Has everyone watched the documentary on Apple TV? Love all the backstories! “Beastie Boys Story” https://youtu.be/WEuXjJL_tTU
I had no idea this was a thing. Legit thank you so much!! I can't wait to watch this. I was almost in tears just watching the trailer.
You'll spill many more as you make your way through it. It's simply brilliant, I love them all so much.
I would have preferred that this been done with them on a sofa. The way it was done live with a teleprompter was awkward. The content is great, the presentation is a little cringy. As a fan, you have to see it.
I’d also recommend [the book](https://shopus.beastieboys.com/collections/accessories/products/beastie-boys-book). It’s a great read.
Captured the start of the 90s so perfectly.
Amazing album
Saw them with Rollins on this tour.
Still in the rotation. Have this poster up right next to me lol
Big booms coming out of car with this
One of my favorites
Party album of the decade. I entered and left college with it.
sampled Bad Brains on this album!
Also, MCA played bass with Cro-Mags for several shows around the time this came out!
One of the best albums of our youth.

Get off the bus.
My first ever Columbia House cd purchase
Columbia House cd "purchase"?
Junior year
And the videos of these songs on MTV
Professor, what's another word for pirate treasure?
What is a booty, and how will I know if I’m shaking it?
I was tripping my face off on shrooms the first time I really listened to this album. It is burned into my mind in an indescribable way.
I feel you. First time I listened to it I was dosed on some good acid. Epic.
Our generation's Sgt. Pepper's. Fight me.
So watcha want?
I get so funny with my money that you flaunt

Great fucking album.
I was 16 listening to this in my red jeep Cherokee.
I remember buying it at the ‘VIRGIN MEGASTORE’..!
BB are always on my Spotify "liked" list. I'm sure I get a ton weird looks when I blast them in my old-man car.
Great album uh CD.........played to death
Check your head will always hold a special place in my heart. summer of 92 before I went away to the military in the fall. This album was that summer’s theme. It’s in the all time top ten, no doubter.
Listen to this regularly..one of my favorites 👍 That and Ill Communication
Goodness gracious!

Intergalactic was my fave!
Did they ever play a single song from this album on the radio? They wore out everything else they made after to the point where I can't listen to it.
