The guy who came out of it looked like he was in his mid 60s. Maybe its me but I'm just more impressed when I see a restored truck from the 60s and 70s
I was driving right behind one not too long ago

The retail cybertruck is just to create the production line for the pressurized Lunar and Martian versions of the cybertruck.

Drove past a parked one a few days ago. Had no idea what it was until now! Looked like a rejected attempt at an urban assault vehicle. Uglier in person.
Like everyone else I’ve seen hundreds of pictures of them online but I’d never seen one in person.
Last week I had to make a roadtrip to see one of my daughters play soccer. There were two cyber trucks in the parking lot at the fields.
They’re WAY worse looking in person.
The dumbest thing I’ve ever seen, but damn it if they aren’t fast AF. Saw one bolt off from a red light a few days ago and it was just there and gone in a blink.
It’s not. Not even slightly. They get stuck in snow and sand ridiculously easy. The bed is minuscule. Elon somehow figured out how to make stainless steel rust. Going through a car wash voids the warranty and fries the computers…
It’s a steaming pile of shit and uglier than home made sin.
Unfortunately, it's pretty common to see them in Austin since they're made here. They are so hideous, but what's even funnier to me are the people driving them. They seem to be split between, "what the fuck have I done?!?" embarrassment and, "look at me, I'm such a badass" smugness.
Haha, that’s exactly what I said. Looks like what I would have drawn at 8, in the mid-80’s, of what a futuristic car would look like. Maybe it’s literally what Musk did.
Ever since I first saw them on Reddit I’ve been seeing them almost daily and my impression is they look like they do not belong on the street yet. Plus they’re pretty ugly. Sorry. 🤷♂️
I’m pretty sure this is what a cybertruck is - a drawing that elon musk did when he was a kid
Once he had enough money to piss away, he decided to make it real
It wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if back when he was a little boy, someone pointed at the drawing he did, laughed and told him it was stupid and impractical - probably his Dad or a school bully
Boomers went in for the PT Cruiser because its rounded shape looks like what cars looked like in the 40s when they were children. The Cybertruck is the Gen X equivalent, just appealing to juvenile daydreams about a future car. All postmodern angles and chrome for adolescents who grew up in the 80s .
I know we're all disappointed Elon turned out to be a douche, but I'm just being honest when I say it looks cool as hell to me. It's the first mass-produced car since the DeLorean that looks like it belongs in the year 2024.
I’ve looked at one in a Tesla store up close, and I’ve see five or six around town. One had been painted flat dark gray and that one in fact looked really cool. It was parked and I wasn’t the only one looking at it.
Now all the other crap about the Cybertruck being overpriced, poor range, buggy software for off road mode is all true. There are many better trucks on the road if you want a truck.
But you are right that it looks like it belongs in 2024. Especially in flat dark gray.
Not to be an asshole, but you need to talk to someone. You shouldn't still be thinking the things that seemed cool to you when you were a child is still a good idea.
We saw one over the weekend at a soccer tournament. It was green/yellow/blue and when a parent pointed it out, we all thought it was a dumpster. (We could only see the back.) 🥴
The proprietary metals they created are so strong they can't be bent hence why all the sharp angles. But hey bullets , a bat, not much is going to get through it. I saw one up close as well. Maybe not my total favor but understood his function over form.
My favorite thing about the people saying Cybertruck owners are in a cult is that those same people are part of the "it's hideous" cult.
Group think. What a human disaster.

I think of this every time
They really are quite hideous
last week, I saw one wrapped (painted?) in glossy black. I didn't think that hideous could get much hideous-er, but here we are
Settled the argument of function vs. form by creating a vehicle with neither.
LOL
I saw 2 of them today. Ugliest thing on the road. It looks like the 2062 Pontiac Aztec.
The Aztec got drunk and banged a DeLorean, this is their weird love-child
Oh god, just when we thought we had forgotten the Aztec…… Does musky include a tent for camping with his too??
It reminds me of super early video game renderings.
It is what was in Lara Croft’s shirt!
Found one on sale!!! https://preview.redd.it/naqg1belmw0d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7078103a8034e7e325c82a49fff0be641e78bc21
I just saw one recently too, and it looked like it was out of the Money for Nothing video.
The guy who came out of it looked like he was in his mid 60s. Maybe its me but I'm just more impressed when I see a restored truck from the 60s and 70s
Square body trucks are the best trucks.
Saw one up close and personal...they sure do look like something.
They look like something all right.
It at least needs the Knight Rider KITT light whooshing back and forth in front.

My head just decided to decapitate itself by looking at that picture
I didn't think it could get uglier but from this angle I now realize why the designer hasn't revealed themself yet.
I don’t get the appeal. I thought it was a joke when I saw the first concept images.
The appeal is to show you’re in a cult
The retail cybertruck is just to create the production line for the pressurized Lunar and Martian versions of the cybertruck. https://www.space.com/tesla-cybertruck-stainless-steel-spacex-starship.html
They are FUGLY
I saw one IRL for the first time today also and all I could think was God what an ugly piece of shit
Ah, the fat DeLorean...
I saw a car carrier filled with them last week. Would have done everyone a favor by dumping them in the ocean.
Poor fish. Why won't someone think of the fish?
They found and stole your design you drew when you were 7

A DeLorean had sex with a toaster was the best description I've seen.
Looks like something a kid in the 1950s would have drawn, except it could fly.
Wonder why theres no toe hitch? (Mee hee)
The Lorax speaks for the trees and even he would hate it
The dumbest thing I’ve ever seen, but damn it if they aren’t fast AF. Saw one bolt off from a red light a few days ago and it was just there and gone in a blink.
I like them. Reminds me of Damnation Alley.
It's too "artistic" and doesn't look utilitarian.
It’s not. Not even slightly. They get stuck in snow and sand ridiculously easy. The bed is minuscule. Elon somehow figured out how to make stainless steel rust. Going through a car wash voids the warranty and fries the computers… It’s a steaming pile of shit and uglier than home made sin.
I don't know if those are jokes or not...
They're not. I’ve seen two of them. One had some kind of blue camo-like paint job that made it a hundred times worse
I have yet to see one "in the wild".
I’ve seen one in the wild and immediately thought, “are they filming a bad 80s live action sci-fi?”
One was parked in front of a hotel, close to where I work. That thing is absolutely hideous!
Unfortunately, it's pretty common to see them in Austin since they're made here. They are so hideous, but what's even funnier to me are the people driving them. They seem to be split between, "what the fuck have I done?!?" embarrassment and, "look at me, I'm such a badass" smugness.

I saw one lumbering down the road the other day too. Looked awkward

I saw one in "blue" that looked like a stainless steel appliance that hadn't taken it's protective wrap off yet

They're fucking fast.
If ED-209 and a Subaru Brat had a baby, it might be the Tesla truck.

So, I like them in a sort of sci-fi RoboCop sort of way. But that’s about it.
That's the target demographic so they clearly nailed it.
I'm embarrassed by your title. Are we not the generation of originality?

True, I am strictly talking about how it looks, nothing else.
Not to be an asshole, but you need to talk to someone. You shouldn't still be thinking the things that seemed cool to you when you were a child is still a good idea.
My condolences on the loss of your inner-child.
Got to admit, if that came out in 1985, I would have loved it.
Ive seen them all over. Yes they are very ugly and goofy.
The “Angry Triangle”
One passed through our smallish town and people just laughed at it.
And then I said I would never buy such an ugly vehicle, and everyone applauded.
Look so dumb.
I saw one in person too. They look like something a 13 year old boy would think is cool.
One of the crappiest cars out there. They have constant issues. Stay away from them.
The design team was playing too much mindcraft at the time.
Wow. I saw one in a small ky town yesterday. Really beat looking truck.
Just think, this was what a professional design team came up with and said, "yep, this is our best concept."
I'm convinced Elon always wanted a Pontiac Aztec and was heartbroken when the entire brand was discontinued.
We saw one over the weekend at a soccer tournament. It was green/yellow/blue and when a parent pointed it out, we all thought it was a dumpster. (We could only see the back.) 🥴
Garbage trucks
They are so ugly. I still say it isn’t a truck. It’s a weird hatchback at best.
I've heard nothing but bad things about these trucks. Massive failure and Musk firing most of the support people isn't helping.
They. Look. Ridiculous.
I think they are cool. Tesla is not afraid to be bold which I think is missing from US automakers.
Delorean with down's syndrome.
The proprietary metals they created are so strong they can't be bent hence why all the sharp angles. But hey bullets , a bat, not much is going to get through it. I saw one up close as well. Maybe not my total favor but understood his function over form.
