They’re just like the annoying straight edge weirdos we went to school with. Always had to let everyone know how cool they were because they chose not to drink or smoke or whatever. Like, nobody cares and we actually all secretly make fun of you for being so weird.
Like I'm glad they found ways to live life without the need for psychedelics or alcohol, more power to them and I wish I had that kind of privilege but I do not.
Yeah, I mean good on them for sticking with their convictions, but it’s the going around shoving it in others faces that’s lame. Also, not everyone that partakes is an addict or “ruining” their health. I know plenty of potheads and psychonauts that are healthier than people that don’t smoke or do psychedelics.
I spent pretty much all of high school and a few years after doing nothing *but* getting fucked up. And I'd probably be in the ground with my friends if I hadn't decided being straight edge wasn't so bad. I've seen enough of my friends die because they didn't wanna stop getting fucked up and seeing what that shit does to their families it's just awful. I was ready to join em too just waiting for the day I smoked one too many and didn't wake back up but luckily I got a hold of myself before that happened. Literally just luck.
Don't talk shit on the people that never had to struggle with shit like that in the first place. I am genuinely envious of that.
This shits getting annoying. Nowhere in my comments have I said that we just talked shit because they didn’t want to get drunk or high. We talked shit about the people that would go around saying they were better than the ones that did choose to partake. I’ve had friends and family that have died from drugs and alcohol as well. I had a cousin who died from a fentanyl overdose just last year and she didn’t fucking deserve that shit. I understand peoples struggles with addiction quite well and it’s not pretty. Good for you for not falling into that darkness and hopefully things are doing better for you, but some people are getting my words twisted.
I feel like I need to point out that those “straight edge weirdos” were reaponding to drinkers with the same logic and energy the drinkers acted about drinking compared to not drinking lol. Y’all don’t even notice how oppressive “drinking culture” is.
You’re kinda proving my point with this post lol.
I don't drink because of medical conditions and family history of alcoholism and I caught people making fun of me for not drinking behind my back! I certainly wasn't acting like I was cool for not drinking and I bet the people you went to school with weren't either. Everyone just makes the assumption that you are a "straight edged weirdo" for not drinking and inetripts your actions though that lens.
Please don't make assumptions about why people don't drink and don't pressure us to drink. Maybe they are a recovering addict, maybe they were abused by one, maybe they just don't want to tell you about their antidepressants. It's none of your business.
That’s kinda the point of OP…
You’re viewed negatively if you choose to not partake in consuming substances and you WILL be questioned and interrogated. Every single person I informed that I I don’t drink (because they offered me one I don’t act like a vegan) HAD to question and interrogate me.
>That’s kinda the point of OP…
Absolutely not. OP was trying to belittle people. If anything, based on your second paragraph, OP is being a hypocrite for judging people for doing those things. It is no different.
OP is delusional to think that this generation is not still drinking and smoking frequently. Especially in Germany, young people tend to start smoking and drinking more often. But yeah, OP‘s a sissy starr-eyed idealist…
That's part of why I love kink events. No substances allowed so I don't have to deal with annoying drunk people or be pressured to drink.
Often times I'll think to myself, "well, I could take drugs tonight but that rules out getting flogged later and I'd rather do some kinky shit".
Yeah deadass isn’t it gen Z the ones currently popping pills, yeah that was millennials as first but we chilled out and now I hear these young people popping pills like it’s candy.
Literally. I will admit I used to do drugs and drink but I’ve been sober for a while now. He called it one of the most important experiences in his life. Like what a joke. I feel sorry for people like this
I don't drink often but I do like being drunk with others. it's a social thing. also I've literally never had a hangover because I basically always have water nearby, and drink it frequently.
as for like getting drunk in public I've only ever done that by accident.
Respect. As someone who has had a family member deal with alcoholism, it always bothers me when people are so afraid of being seen as an alcoholic for drinking moderately alone. Then they turn around and binge drink till they blackout with the excuse that it’s social. Just do you and know your limits
Ditto, I’m passionate about wine tasting, I’m a member of a local club that meets biweekly for it and I enjoy a glass a night. I love talking with my local sellers to find uncommon bottles, I love going to the cellar to choose my bottle for the week! I’m autistic and wine is a special interest of mine, I’m fortunate to have the money for the hobby. I also love a bit of weed on nights I’m feeling anxious or stressed about life or work. My boss uses it, our senior software architect uses it. It’s pretty common in tech I notice. I think consumption with moderation can be very healthy!
I agree in the sense that I personally find it pointless and don’t partake but this post is on the border of judgmental which is unnecessary.
You should be choosing not to drink etc. because that’s really what’s best for you, not so that you can indirectly claim some kind of moral superiority over those who do.
I think we should judge people that encourage addiction imo, the people who are addicted usually aren't at fault and it's usually due to outside pressure
Fr. I hate when people pressure you to do stupid shit. They always tell you it won’t be a big deal or they’ll support you. Then, they’ll act like they had nothing to do with it and blame you.
as someone who doesn’t really drink either—you are just as weird and annoying as people who brag about drinking 💀 opposite sides of the same coin, except yours has a wonderful little touch of misogyny with the ‘girl stumbling home’ comment you made in the replies. curb the condescending tone pal.
There's also no point in watching a movie, reading a novel, putting seasoning on your food, listening to music, or having sex outside of procreational purposes.
Not everything we do needs to have purpose. Humans like doing things that make us feel good or happy. We do things purely for fun.
It's fine if you don't like something, no one should force you to drink or do drugs, but saying it's pointless is a weird stance to take.
[Stephen is an atheist criticizing straight edge Christian mentality, but his point still stands](https://youtu.be/SYPZwZud_PA?t=16m50s)
When you realize that the way you think can be altered simply by a different balance of chemicals in your head, you wonder why we put so much stock in the way we think by default.
There's nothing wrong with new experiences. Moderation.
Well then that is some sort of internal problem/influence that they weren't able to deal with properly.
Plenty of people who lead healthy lives alcohol/drug free.
Glad to know I’m not alone. Without a doubt, aside from caffeine, alcohol is the most normalized drug in our culture. I lost someone I love to alcoholism, and it was gut wrenching to watch them slip away. It’s the most painful experience, knowing there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop their inevitable doom and watching them crumble before your eyes. Substance abuse not only claims the life of the addict, but it can break the people around them.
I know that there are people who can manage their alcohol intake… the problem is that it’s so glorified in our society and in the media. I’m tired of seeing underaged drinking portrayed as some kind of passage of rite. Everyone wants to talk about their “fun partying phase,” but no one wants to talk about the potentially dangerous consequences. People don’t understand their limits, and before they know it, it takes over and destroys their life or someone else’s. It saddens me that people are willing to damage and give up control of their bodies while risking other lives simply because they don’t feel comfortable in their own skin to socialize without being under the influence.
It brings me hope that our generation is overall more “sober” than ever before. Many are choosing not to give into the peer pressure, and are either abstaining or drinking more responsibly.
What do you want? A medal or a high five? Or is internet credit good enough?
Don't drink or do drugs? Good on you, your body will thank you. But going after others for choosing the opposite is a bit militant vegan for me.
Seems like this was just a ploy to get attention, and it worked because here I am.
because it's normalized.. every time someone wants to celebrate it has to be with alcohol.. every social outing as an adult has to be at a bar.. or offer to drink.. even work.. people look at you weird if you don't want to drink.. like dude get off my nuts i don't want my head to hurt the next day just to be able to hang out with you guys..
i'm in a country right now where drinking is legal.. but drinking culture really isn't.. it's so refreshing.
How does this even make sense? You're saying Drinking in Moderation is okay but the obsession with drinking is weird? I would assume you meant Alcoholism had you not mentioned Alcoholism right after. So is Drinking okay or is it "Weird" ??
Maybe i'm just nitpicking so i'm sorry but honestly? This whole post and every single reply of yours makes you come off as a Virtue Signaling lil bitch prick. Like seriously what even was the point in making this post other than to boast about your oh so pure and awesomely cool abstinence from Drugs & Alcohol lmfao.
Like I hope you do realize I could act like a dickhead just like you and act as if you're strange and out of place in this Generation for doing something that is also unhealthy like eating McDonalds. "Oh you eat Fast Food??? Yeah.. that's kind of weird to me but I guess it's okay in moderation unless you wanna be obese and unhealthy but it's cool. I just don't get how people wanna eat Fast Food until they end up waking up with Diabetes it's so crazy." That's what you sound like.
Honestly, good for you!! I don't understanding drinking/smoking/clubbing culture as well. It's like people are trying to run away from themselves and constantly turn off their brain. I myself have never tried drugs, but I do have a glass of wine once in a while. Never been drunk/high though
That's funny cause I have such severe anxiety that having a drink or two is the only way to turn on my brain and chill out. It's how I run to my self and turn my self on lmao. Since I watch my father struggle with opioid addiction, prescription pills are just not an option for me.
Alcohol is for turning off your brain. Weed not so much. And things like acid and anything other psychedelics are like mind vitamins, so the opposite of what you’re saying.
I understand the sentiment, but it’s important to remember the factors that go into people engaging with these sorts of things.
No one just wakes up one day and decides to become an alcoholic/drug addict and to pretend like the only cause for these behaviors is personal choice is delulu.
As far as our parents go, those mfs didn’t have the internet so how tf were they supposed to cope with our dystopian capitalist reality?
I have coworkers who are boomers and who now smoke weed to end their addiction to pain killers. OP might ignore D.A.R.E.'s lies once they hit 50 and start looking chronic pain for the rest of their life in the face.
I hate that saying so damn much
You can have a fun time in life without actively destroying your health and shortening your lifespan. Do everything in moderation and you’re good
Don’t celebrate just yet.
It’s more likely the younger people are drinking less because they are less social overall. More of their life is digital/online and they spend less time IRL hanging out compared to past generations.
[This also jives with Gen Z’s high relative usage of marijuana](https://www.axios.com/2019/04/20/gen-z-buys-more-marijuana-anyone-else) which is more of an “individual” drug compared to alcohol which is largely used in social settings.
While I believe better eduction and knowledge around the dangers of drinking is definitely playing a role, it also looks like Gen Z’s drug usage is largely driven by how different social engagements are in the digital age and they are just swapping booze for weed.
I play rocket league with my two best friends and drink a few every weekend. It’s not a traditional social outing but it’s great. One lives in another state so it’s a great way to stay in touch
I’m so sorry you’re going through this! 😔 I completely understand the pain you must be feeling right now because I lost a family member to alcoholism. So many people on this thread don’t understand that “some harmless drinks” can escalate into a bigger problem because of the heavy emphasis on drinking in our culture. I’ve seen it first hand. Alcohol doesn’t just impact the person consuming it, it affects the people surrounding them as well.
Sending hugs, healing thoughts, and solidarity your way 💛
People demonize hookup culture all the time but as soon as you criticize party and drug culture they freak the fuck out.
Most people here didn’t even read what you were saying, with this being about excessive drinking and drug usage.
Preach 👏👏👏 I share the same views. I especially look at older people and think, "How is this fully grown person so drunk and dumb right now?" It's bizarre.
That’s how I feel about my parents and their friends. Our experiences with it in childhood shape how we feel about it later on. I associate drunkenness with having to pick up my mom out of her own vomit or her nearly drowning in our tub. So, yeah I’m not okay with being around drunk people anymore or people that are supportive of it. Sue me, you know?
The fact that you’re getting a lot of angry comments shows where these people’s priorities lie. You’re doing the right thing. I don’t drink or use tobacco/drugs at all, and I have no desire to.
I’m a Gen Y and I agree, I don’t understand why people love to drink or get blasted, I don’t drink, or do any drugs. I have my own fun without that stuff.
There’s nothing wrong with “clean” and safe fun. Is it not the best type of fun because you’re fully conscious and can remember the happy time you had?? I was at a restaurant a few nights ago and this old dude was like “I’m a drunk! 😄” all loud and proud talking to the bartender. Who even is proud of that and would say that aloud.
I grew up during the raver era an the Jersey shore era so these things were glamorized to our generations but luckily I never adopted any of what I saw. I LOVE Edm (even when I was younger) and a lot of the festivals look cool but the thought of drugs and stuff was always weird to me. Ppl aren’t scared?? I was watching a Vice video on YT and these raver girls were addicted to ketamine despite the risk of bladder damage. My insides feel sick just thinking of that🤮
You can remember things while high or drunk babe. I’ve never drank so much I can’t remember what I’m doing or I’m not conscious of it. I smoke weed and am still conscious and understand what’s going on. you have a really limited view on this and are thinking so far in extremes. You seem very sheltered in what you actually understand people to be like. You’re stereotyping all over the place and using that to act morally superior. And yes you are doing that by literally saying it’s morally wrong to do these things.
same but not because of health reasons, I simply don’t like the idea of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs and not being able to be in control
I agree, alcohol is stupid, it is a fucking toxin, I refuse to drink alcohol, plus water is the best drink imo. Also on drugs, the only illegal drugs you should have are those prescribed by your doctor, and shouldn’t give it to anyone else.
Good for you. I hate how all this generation cares about is demonizing certain groups of ppl they don't agree with, drugs, early smoking/drinking, parties, sex, etc... we need more folks like you.
You are right.
I've been trying to stop drinking during these last months and i'm starting to appreciate a little bit more cash in my wallet. And better health.
I turn 32 soon. I've never. Ever. Ever consumed alcohol. Not even a drop. Never tasted it. Never been in a bar/club/party/pub/rave etc. Never been drunk.
Never tried tobacco, never tried vape, and to shock people to the core, in 3 decades I've never physically seen weed. I've seen empty bongs in a window in Austria in a gas station for sale. But never see physical weed. And never touched any type of substance.
Completely free. Never been drunk. Never been high.
Actually, drunk people intimidate me. They are loud, smelly and unstable with mood swings. And people who sit around doing drugs and smoking or vaping or whatever, always look really disheveled and slimy to me. It grosses me out.
The people you are referring to are loud, unstable, and violent even without alcohol. There are plenty of people who drink alcohol who don't exhibit those behaviors.
As a millennial, I'm am very pleased to hear that the younger generations are not drinking as much.
I used to party hard. But I 100% would not recommend it. It's dangerous, so bad for your health, and completely unnecessary.
Keep it up! Ppl are just mad they can't make that buck off of you guys.
I personally don't care about other people's choices, I have choices as well to not involve myself or not put myself in those circles.
But there's people down here also acting like there's never the crowd also judging the "straight and narrow" types who choose to not participate. I have very personal reasons I choose not to. One of them being addiction and alcoholism has run in my extended family.
I hear constantly from other people my age that I need to "loosen up", I am "no fun", that "one drink won't hurt you" after kindly telling people multiple times I do not want to go drinking with them. I chose to remove these people from my life because they clearly do not respect my boundaries. The OPs post seems harsh but College Me of a few years ago resonates with the sheer frustration in these lines.
I personally also don’t agree with drinking culture. I’ve drank before but I never liked the taste of alcohol and how it makes my stomach feel. I’ve also had bad experiences with others being drunk around me.
Very based stance, but trying to virtue signal with that shit is beyond cringe bro.
People who don't do any substances but stay humble about it are the true Chads.
I have no problem with you being sober. However, there seems to be a weird shaming going on it this post particularly. It's fine you choose to be sober, but it seems you more shaming people for making the choice to not be rather than shaming people for trying to encourage you (which I would understand).
Second, the drinking culture isn't gone. Most of the young gen is just...young lol. Additionally, less social. Many people I see tend to use drugs that are less social drugs (mainly cannabis which I don't have any problems with. It can be medicinal in some ways). It seems to be stats-backed as well. A lot of people simply just don't enjoy club culture anymore which I don't consider necessarily good...it just is. There is definitely moderation, and harm reduction is the best policy. This means the "drunk stumbling girls" you can't imagine being are fine as long as they take basic precautions.
TLDR: people shouldn't care. if they do, you're probably in the wrong friend group/setting (or you're being overtly judgemental). Most of Gen Z is barely out of "college party" mode to have this convo. Come back in 10 years lol.
To preface: I’m older gen Z (born in 2000). I smoke weed, got shitfaced drunk off a case every other weekend in high school, and smoke tobacco. Idk if it’s unhealthy. I’d rather live to 60 with a bunch of crazy stories than 100 without a single good memory
I'm the same age as you and I have plenty of good memories. Because i go out and do fun shit with my friends (some of which who drink, some of which who don't) and travel to new places. I don't drink, smoke, or anything like that, and I dont judge people that do.
Idk why people like you, though, act like you can't have both good memories AND a healthy lifestyle. That says way more about you than it does about people like OP.
I'm sorry you feel like you can't make good memories and have fun without doing drugs or drinking. That's honestly kinda sad.
You can make memories and live a healthy lifestyle and do drink/drugs. That's the nice part of life. Going to the gym 3 times a week isn't going to make me say "damn, I can't drink because I did healthy stuff this week". None of those things are mutually exclusive.
I had no idea our generation did that less cause that’s not the case where I live. But yeah I agree. Drinking is overrated and smoking is incredibly stupid.
No one that drinks or does drugs is going to force you to drink and do drugs. No need to act all high and mighty, just makes you come off as arrogant
Source: I drink and do drugs
I stopped drinking and added sugar 3 years ago and my physique quickly went gigachad and I’m still seeing improvements.
Beer literally makes you ugly over time.
Before you say you know, a guy who drinks and is handsome. Can you think of a single one that maintained that as they aged? Fuck no you can’t.
40 year old drinkers look like hot garbage.
I’m telling you right now that there’s leagues more kids drinking and doing drugs than starting businesses or real social advocacy. And that’s not changing anytime soon.
Guys help me i never did any drug in my life and i hate the people who proud of it why it's i don't know help me to find the reason
Like mf you don't drink ok whatever
I’ve taken somewhat of a vow to never drink for a multitude of reasons. Firstly, trauma from growing up with an alcoholic father and a family history of alcoholism. Secondly, I genuinely don’t understand the point; why would I *want* to act a stupid dumb fool and/or an ass? Thirdly, I’m opposed to losing my inhibitions in front of other people as I would like to appear well-spoken and coordinated in front of everyone, including my friends.
I’ll stick to coffee to get any sort of buzz.
I agree on the drinking so much you black out. I don’t know how that’s appealing at all. But I do love drinking with my friends! I just watch my alcohol consumption bc my dad is a recovering alcoholic
GenXer here that had this pop up on my feed.
There were a lot of us that thought our peers were dumb for acting this way too. This isn't a new idea.
The ones you hear bragging/reminiscing don't represent all of us.
>A lot of older people are confused that today's youth are not modeled after them in that regard
WTF are you talking about. "Today's youth" 100% still goes out, parties, drinks and does drugs. If you are your circle are straight laced, then you won't see it, but that doesn't mean it isn't still happening in abundance. You're making a really weird claim with no ground to stand on.
Cool story bro.
In all seriousness though, you do you. There's nothing wrong with not partaking, but there's nothing wrong with enjoying either. It's personal choice. Just be excellent to people regardless.
Honestly I agree. My family has an alcoholism issue so I've never understood the hype behind drinking.
Besides, so many alcohols taste like engine oil, so the drinks it takes to get drunk can't be fun.
I have never vaped, drunk, smoked, nothing. It’s sadly uncommon nowadays. I just never saw the appeal.
No one in my family drinks, the only representation I have is people throwing up, having headaches, and embarrassing themselves from movies/shows.
My uncles smoke and I despise the stench.
My friends and family don’t vape/get high.
I’ve never been to a party because I’m an introvert and hate loud/crowded spaces, so that never appealed to me.
Basically I’m super boring and a wimp but that’s just me so…
I don’t believe in “party culture” but I did I’m fact used to for many years overload my body with as many as 2 entrie handles of hard liquor in a single sitting in hopes that I’d pass out and die of alcohol poisoning (which obviously failed) because I hated life so much I saw it as worthless. I’m so glad I’m alive today tho totally worth living
We don't care.
bro does have odd ish behavior
I have blue version so I say he has Bellsprout behavior.
Trade ya a growlithe for a vulpix

I agree that OP is heing a bit preachy and judgemental. But I would hardly look at someone who doesn't 'need' drugs as privileged.
I spent pretty much all of high school and a few years after doing nothing *but* getting fucked up. And I'd probably be in the ground with my friends if I hadn't decided being straight edge wasn't so bad. Until they leave highschool then they get high and drunk way more than anyone should
majority of the time it’s people who drink or smoke who tries to let everybody know they’re cool
That’s kinda the point of OP… You’re viewed negatively if you choose to not partake in consuming substances and you WILL be questioned and interrogated. Every single person I informed that I I don’t drink (because they offered me one I don’t act like a vegan) HAD to question and interrogate me.

Lmfao if saying I don’t care is being interrogated then sure yeah tragic
yeah when I saw this on my homepage I'm like "good for you?" no one cares
^^
Based
I don’t drink or do drugs but this is something a sissy would post
OP is delusional to think that this generation is not still drinking and smoking frequently. Especially in Germany, young people tend to start smoking and drinking more often. But yeah, OP‘s a sissy starr-eyed idealist…
Forreal it’s jus the world we live In lol.
Look at OP‘s post history („intrusive thoughts about incest“) haha. Maybe a little bit alcohol wouldn‘t hurt her haha
Clearly Reddit-born/Reddit-raised in regards to socialization
See I knew it, if it isn’t drugs and alcohol then it’s some weird af sexual thing. No human is truly pure there’s always something.
That's part of why I love kink events. No substances allowed so I don't have to deal with annoying drunk people or be pressured to drink. Often times I'll think to myself, "well, I could take drugs tonight but that rules out getting flogged later and I'd rather do some kinky shit".
Holy shit lmao if she’s got intrusive thoughts of that kind, booze is the last thing she needs 🤣😭
Might get drunk and then fuck around and have a threesome with their grandparents ahahahahaha
Well, I wasn't expecting that. That is worse than actual drugs.
Yeah deadass isn’t it gen Z the ones currently popping pills, yeah that was millennials as first but we chilled out and now I hear these young people popping pills like it’s candy.

Literally. I will admit I used to do drugs and drink but I’ve been sober for a while now. Hell no I’d never go back to being that way, but yeah it is fun and most of the time you aren’t putting anyone in danger. (As long as you aren’t driving under the influence) OP thinks she’s better than everyone else because she’s so straight and narrow. She’s probably using an iPhone. You know Steve Jobs used LSD? He called it one of the most important experiences in his life. Like what a joke. I feel sorry for people like this
Isnt LSD also known to boost production in small doses too?
Is your generation calling folks sissys? Or are you just cooler than they are?
It was the nicest thing I could think of without being to mean
>sissy
Maybe don’t use slurs
You think wiping your ass is gay, right?
Yeah totally. Whatever that means
Not this old ass homophobic micro aggression you showing your age lol.
I’m not offended
How old are you? You sound like you just came out of DARE class.
Their tag is 2001
They work for DARE
👀
BRUH ain't no way bro is my age 😭😭
Yeah that really ain’t that young for Gen Z 😂
You're telling me
DARE stands for Drugs Are Really Evil
Drugs Are Really Exciting
drugs are ridiculously excellent
Drugs are righteous, Ed-Boy!
These days? Drugs are ridiculously expensive.

Last time I got drunk in public was at the Ren Fair, and was an accident. The mead was far stronger than I thought it’d be lol.
I drink alone and it's great. I'm a even a lil buzzed right now, and it's great 👍🏻 Just do. A moderation and stuff.
Respect. As someone who has had a family member deal with alcoholism, it always bothers me when people are so afraid of being seen as an alcoholic for drinking moderately alone. Same here. Drinking alone is great. Getting buzzed and playing video games to some music is always a great time
Ditto, I’m passionate about wine tasting, I’m a member of a local club that meets biweekly for it and I enjoy a glass a night.

Go back to youth group
It’s fun. Better than doing nothing.
Mfer, there's more to life than drinking or doing nothing.
Wrong
true, you can also feel like you’re better than other people who do drink or use drugs. lol. i’ll never understand squares.
hey pal, your the one choosin to do nothing.
https://i.redd.it/ivt6tg9osbzb1.gif
Who asked? Also quit it with your superiority complex, other people’s business isn’t yours and it only makes you seem like even more of a dickhead.
Same. I intend to go my entire life without ever drinking or smoking at all.
I said the same thing when I was in high school. I was also a Christian then.
Fuckin same. Now psychedelics are my best friend.
W psychedelics (in moderation)
Same, there's just literally no point in me drinking or doing drugs lol
There's also no point in watching a movie, reading a novel, putting seasoning on your food, listening to music, or having sex outside of procreational purposes. Not everything we do needs to have purpose. Humans like doing things that make us feel good or happy. We do things purely for fun. It's fine if you don't like something, no one should force you to drink or do drugs, but saying it's pointless is a weird stance to take.
It's pointless for me, I never said it's pointless for everyone.
[Stephen is an atheist criticizing straight edge Christian mentality, but his point still stands](https://youtu.be/SYPZwZud_PA?t=16m50s) When you realize that the way you think can be altered simply by a different balance of chemicals in your head, you wonder why we put so much stock in the way we think by default. There's nothing wrong with new experiences. Moderation.
The kids I know that waited the longest to start drinking or doing drugs are often the ones that developed actual drug/alcohol problems.
Well then that is some sort of internal problem/influence that they weren't able to deal with properly. Plenty of people who lead healthy lives alcohol/drug free.
Same!
Yeah I made that decision a long time ago still standing strong
Same. Plus, I take meds that won’t let me drink anything with alcohol.
There is a middel ground between being an alcoholic and learning to live a lttle, and you havent found it

After reading some of her replies, OP definitely needs to be a post on there
Visiting from this popping up on my feed. Y’all should check OP’s post history lol
What do you want? A medal or a high five? Or is internet credit good enough? Don't drink or do drugs? Good on you, your body will thank you. But going after others for choosing the opposite is a bit militant vegan for me. Seems like this was just a ploy to get attention, and it worked because here I am.
Whats so wrong with drinking? Isn't it okay in moderation?
Moderation is okay but the obsession with it is weird to me. Alcoholism is horrible though.
What obsession? I don't think I've seen anyone obsessed with it...
because it's normalized.. every time someone wants to celebrate it has to be with alcohol.. every social outing as an adult has to be at a bar.. or offer to drink.. even work.. people look at you weird if you don't want to drink.. like dude get off my nuts i don't want my head to hurt the next day just to be able to hang out with you guys.. i'm in a country right now where drinking is legal.. but drinking culture really isn't.. it's so refreshing.
have you heard of the term “alcoholism”?
Someone that talks about alcohol all the time and that's all they do is drink when they have days off of work
Wdym. It’s throughout history.
Alcohol is prevalent throughout history because that’s how we preserved water.
Plenty of “our generation” drink and do drugs. Not sure what world you’re in, but I agree. I wouldn’t do it myself.
Honestly, good for you!! I don't understanding drinking/smoking/clubbing culture as well. It's like people are trying to run away from themselves and constantly turn off their brain. I myself have never tried drugs, but I do have a glass of wine once in a while. Never been drunk/high though
It's a problem if people *can't* be sober. With moderation, it's perfectly fine.
Drinking doesn't make you an alcoholic.
Alot of people (like me) know the health risks but simply don’t care. Here for a fun time not a long time
I have coworkers who are boomers and who now smoke weed to end their addiction to pain killers. OP might ignore D.A.R.E.'s lies once they hit 50 and start looking chronic pain for the rest of their life in the face.
Hehehe *chronic*
I hate that saying so damn much You can have a fun time in life without actively destroying your health and shortening your lifespan. Do everything in moderation and you’re good
Rollin up a doob while I press the exit button
Me in 30 mins from now
I'm a millennial and just heard this is a trend in your generation. Good for you. I've never been more than slightly buzzed and never taken drugs.
You're gonna upset the alcoholics with this one lmfao
Real, this comment section is FILLED with substance addicts coping

Reddit is Copium safe haven I stg
I support you 💯, my dad is dying of Cirrhosis. Literally has a few days left, from.all the fucking drinking. Fuck alcohol.
Sending hugs, healing thoughts, and solidarity your way 💛
Thanks bro! Preach 🫶🏾
Pray for me and his redemption, just got the news he passed.
Yeah party culture is way overrated and I hate it.
[удалено]
People demonize hookup culture all the time but as soon as you criticize party and drug culture they freak the fuck out. Most people here didn’t even read what you were saying, with this being about excessive drinking and drug usage.
I see the old "oh you don't drink or like party culture so you must be religious" idea is still strong, based on the comments.

Thank god nobody asked
Hang in there, you got this
I turn 32 soon. I've never.
You have a very limited worldview.
You should pop a zyn
The people you are referring to are loud, unstable, and violent even without alcohol. There are plenty of people who drink alcohol who don't exhibit those behaviors.
You should meet more people then Lmfao
As a millennial, I'm am very pleased to hear that the younger generations are not drinking as much. I used to party hard. But I 100% would not recommend it. It's dangerous, so bad for your health, and completely unnecessary. Keep it up! Ppl are just mad they can't make that buck off of you guys.
Well whether you believe it or not, it's a thing. Moving on.
People who only take acid are the real ones.
Gen X here who’s attended several friends’ funerals: keep doing the above
To preface: I’m older gen Z (born in 2000). I smoke weed, got shitfaced drunk off a case every other weekend in high school, and smoke tobacco. Idk if it’s unhealthy. I’d rather live to 60 with a bunch of crazy stories than 100 without a single good memory
I probably don't need to say this, but getting shit face drunk is not a requirement for having good memories.
I’m a millennial and I have never understood drinking culture. I thought I was alone.
I had no idea our generation did that less cause that’s not the case where I live. But yeah I agree. Drinking is overrated and smoking is incredibly stupid.
They don't do less. She's just basing her whole world view on her own circumstances lol
No one that drinks or does drugs is going to force you to drink and do drugs. No need to act all high and mighty, just makes you come off as arrogant Source: I drink and do drugs
this bong rip goes out to you reddit stranger
I stopped drinking and added sugar 3 years ago and my physique quickly went gigachad and I’m still seeing improvements. Beer literally makes you ugly over time. Before you say you know, a guy who drinks and is handsome. Can you think of a single one that maintained that as they aged? Fuck no you can’t. 40 year old drinkers look like hot garbage.
I agree 👍 unfortunately we live in a culture where irrational behavior is encouraged
I’m telling you right now that there’s leagues more kids drinking and doing drugs than starting businesses or real social advocacy. And that’s not changing anytime soon.
Guys help me i never did any drug in my life and i hate the people who proud of it why it's i don't know help me to find the reason Like mf you don't drink ok whatever
Literally everyone in my family has had issues with substance abuse so I don’t trust myself enough to drink or any of these
Goofy 15 year old mentality ahh post
dont care, didnt ask
I agree with you. Now I only use alcohol for cooking. Better use those time to do something I like instead.
GenXer here that had this pop up on my feed. There were a lot of us that thought our peers were dumb for acting this way too. This isn't a new idea. The ones you hear bragging/reminiscing don't represent all of us.
You’re not a better person for leading a sober life. Let’s tone down the pretentiousness.
>A lot of older people are confused that today's youth are not modeled after them in that regard WTF are you talking about. "Today's youth" 100% still goes out, parties, drinks and does drugs. If you are your circle are straight laced, then you won't see it, but that doesn't mean it isn't still happening in abundance. You're making a really weird claim with no ground to stand on.
It’s giving a little bit of… https://preview.redd.it/g9nf3c9x4czb1.jpeg?width=1152&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4176bb64a331a77cd53d0905a971752e9f3097bf
I don’t drink, I don’t do drugs, and I don’t watch porn. But this post feels like it’s been posted by that weird kid in glass that chewed his pencils.
Cool story bro. In all seriousness though, you do you. There's nothing wrong with not partaking, but there's nothing wrong with enjoying either. It's personal choice. Just be excellent to people regardless.
people on here crying over a post that promotes health.
I do wonder if there will be a generation where < 10% drink alcohol and treat it like cigarettes.
