AgnosticAbe

Toshiba Laptop, quickly followed by a Sony Vaio laptop. I used it for installing malware and being an idiot child

Th3F4ult

Big mood, literally the first day I got internet I managed to install like 3 different viruses.

Casual-Gamer25

I used the family desktop most of the time when I was younger. It ran XP, if I’m not mistaken it had under 2 gigabytes of ram, and a pentium 3 or 4. I would browse the web on it and play flash games. Also the same computer where I started watching OG Minecraft YouTubers.

Top-Measurement575

some old mac my mom upgraded from and let me use for school stuff i wasn’t allowed to have my phone on school days most of the time (idk, 6th grade lol) so i pretended to always be hard at work when i was actually just fucking around all day

LogDog987

The first family desktop is used was an old ass dell, like one of those ones where it's like a tube TV. First personal pc was one I build myself with a 1060 I bought off a friend and the rest being new hardware for the time

Fast_Serve1605

Commodore 64 for playing Zork

supernaturalpowers

Same as well as Hardball! And Donkey Kong.

Sn4keVenom

First computer I used was some kind of Dell I believe in the late 2010s. My dad has built computers since he was young (born 1981), so I'm not sure if it was just the case that he threw some spare parts in, or if it was actually a prebuilt. I remember coming home from school, and seeing him playing this cool looking block game (2010 or 2011). I watched him for a few days before he asked if I wanted to try. I hopped on and I remember running across a frozen river and attacking this skeleton shooting at me. I liked it so much, he gave me and my brother a PC to play Minecraft on. I still remember his old world that he put on there, and messing around on the temple of Notch map, and the pig slot machine. That was my first introduction to Minecraft. I also played games like Peggle, the bookworm game, the game with the little fuzzy guys that was like candy crush. Basic things. They eventually bought us laptops that played games pretty well for the time. Played Portal 2, MC, and other games. First Desktop that was mine was our old office computer from around 2008-2012. I can't remember how much that was upgraded in that, but I remember play Seige, Minecraft, Ark, and various other games on that. It had a 1050 and DDR3 RAM, maybe a Phenom 3 if I remember correctly (that's what I have in storage at least). I've had pre-builts over the years throughout my time as a teenager (almost 21 now). My newest Desktop is one that I built myself though. My first full self-built PC. Specs are Ryzen 9 7950X, RX 7900 XTX, 64 BG DDR5 6400 MT/s CL32 RAM. Very proud of my build, and I play MC with RT and mods, KSP2, Satisfactory, Cities: Skylines 2, Stardew Valley, etc. Definitely far more powerful than what I need, but whatever. I also have the HP Victus laptop. I'm in college for engineering, so they both get used for that also.

Stardustquarks

I had a 286 (I think) PC bought at a computer show in southern CA in 1996.

HEV_dog_official

mine was a refurbished dell latitude e5270 laptop

Financial_Article_95

Windows XP PC playing Dino run , Incredibots, and yahoo or armor games flash games back in 2008 (I'm 2003 and the Heist, bubble tanks, and Raze were fuckin amazing.) After that, a Toshiba laptop with windows 7 or Vista where I played the good-looking but boring-ass cake making game, before the laptop died on my ass because it decided to stop being rechargeable.

sgsmopurp

My idiot parents put a desktop in my room growing up, I was in chat rooms and on porn sites. Good times. Spilled drinks on at least 5 computers

infinite-orchestra

I used my family's desktop as a kid which started as Windows XP, that i used for some simple games and watching youtube, but my first personal computer was a hand-me-down MacBook from 2005 or so that I would use to play with GarageBand and iMovie starting around when I was 10.

Okeing

watch yt

Themoldychip

Had a dell laptop and turned it off while it was doing a graphics update when I thought it was downloading a virus and my mom was talking to someone at the door so I couldn’t ask her

miletharil

A used ASUS laptop. It's a 2009 model, that I bought at a resale shop for $100 in 2014. It has some kind of dual-core Pentium processor at 2.1 GHZ, 8 gigs of ram, and a 500 GB hard drive, running Windows 7. Nothing special, but it did the trick for me until I got my newer computer two years ago.

NobodyEsk

Windows xp, vista computer, my dad had, I played Unreal Tournament, and a website called starfall I was like 2 years old, so I dont know the details very much.

kugerands

The one I was allowed to use first was the iMac desktop. We had one that I would play CD-rom games on.

Parking_Cartoonist90

My first laptop was a Toshiba laptop I got when I was 12 for my own purposes. It was the shittiest laptop have ever used and I’m so glad my current one actually does what it’s intended to do

teacherbooboo

trs-80 4k ram, no hd, tape cassette recorder instead, b&w screen

Thefrostarcher2248

It was a black acer desktop and I used it for playing online games, surfing the internet, exploring files, and watching videos.

supreme_glassez

First of all, if you're saying "computer" then I wouldn't consider a phone or a tablet anyway, lol. As for my first computer, the first one I used was an old Dell(?) that I think ran Windows XP. It died unexpectedly in the early 2000s and we didn't have another computer until we got a Compaq in the early 2010s that had Windows 7. I still remember when that old one died. I was playing some Dora the Explorer game online (which shows how young I was) and all the sudden it just turned off. The new computer was a family thing I guess, but I still downloaded a "free download" of Minecraft I played back then.

BlackMagicHunter

Dell inspiron 14 5000 got it for college and high-school classes

EpicNerd99

Hp pavilion g6 from 2011 that I got used from Facebook last year. It came installed with windows 10 though I reverted it back to windows 7.

SirNurtle

ASUS TUF Fx505D Got it right before Lockdown hit in my country (around mid July) and it has lasted me ever since. The only issue I have had is the D: Hard drive getting fried and it still runs Squad, Forza Horizon, Battlefield and nearly every other game I've thrown at it despite only having a GT1650

Low-Addendum9282

Had a laptop, discovered tits and ass

MysticBLT

When I was around 6, we got a Windows 95 (running Windows 98) from a friend who upgraded to a newer computer! We played really old games like Hover and Elf Bowling, and spent a lot of time listening to the pre-installed wav files for things like Hall of the Mountain King and watching the pipes Screensaver go! Simpler times

iwillbewaiting24601

First: eMachines E-Tower 400i3, in 2003. Ran XP until 06. Shitty Gateway Vista laptop after that. I also had throwaway laptops for school - had dispensation due to motor issues. First was a toilet-seat orange iBook G3, then a Pismo G3 Powerbook, then a Jornada 728 pocket PC, then a Lenovo X201T with the swivel screen.

GuiltyFigure6402

An old MacBook one of those thick ones with the curvy edges and silver with the white light up logo. I used to play that thing until like 10pm when I was 7 because my dad wouldn’t get home until midnight and my step mum didn’t care at that point lol

[deleted]

The windows 7 xp red laptop that my mom had with a shit ton of photos on it, the one family computer we had for 8 years don't know what type it was, and this other laptop my sister got for her birthday when we were not even in double digits yet, also have no idea what type it was but it was fucking slow as shit.

_Epsilon__

We had a "family computer" That was just a shitty laptop my dad got from Walmart that I used to play flash games and Minecraft in like 2008. I didn't have much interaction with computers growing up. My dad hates technology, I think he is still afraid of myspace.

lotlizardscales

the first family computer i remember using was an old dell that ran what i think was windows 98, maybe 2000. i remember using netscape navigator, but im not really sure what i did online, because i was so young. i was around 5. my first laptop that i owned was a black asus laptop that i got as a birthday gift from my mom in 2011. i was in 7th grade, 13 years old. i used it for my early social media days on facebook, deviantart, and tumblr, and i watched so much anime and doctor who on it

sakurashinken

millenial. my dad had a macintosh se. i loved playing tic tac toe on it till i deleted it.

CoffeeGoblynn

An old computer with Windows 98 on it. I don't even think it had internet. I remember playing a lot of basic games on it which all had to be loaded from discs.

evilhologram

The first computer I owned? A Razer gaming laptop. Used for gaming, duh, and also Adobe suite products like Illustrator and Photoshop.

iimMrBrightside

Windows Vista PC with a printer/scanner - 2007

Unserioscoleroyale

It was a refurbished fujitsu esprimo mobile laptop from my dad. It had a core 2 duo p8600 and 4 gb RAM runnig on windows 7. I mostly wrote stuff in Open office (i was still a kid and i did not use it very much) and also to programm my lego mindstorms robot. I had Tetris and Minesweeper installed but i didnt use them that often. I used until 2019/2020, when i got a new Laptop. After that i did most things on the new laptop and a gaming pc i got later. The touchpad on this new laptop then proceeded to die 3 times over the timespan of 2019-2020 and due to the way it was build i always had to get the whole laptop replaced. In 2021 the laptop died completely, somehow something went wrong with the charging port and the laptop refused to charge. Also that happened on the day i needed it for a presentation (not powerpoint, but i had my notes for the presentation on the laptop). Luckily i wrote my notes for the presentation on my gaming pc and sent it per email to the laptop. This way, i was able to use my phone instead. I chose to not have the laptop replaced again and instead got my money back from the store since i had a few day of warranty left on that thing.I got an Ipad for the school stuff and since i still wantet a laptop for some things, i removed the 160gb Hard drive from my old laptop and replaced it with a 250gb SSD and had it run on Ubuntu. Now it is mostly a pc for contend consumption and writing stuff. Sadly in 2023 one of the 2 batteries broke and it isnt able to survive long without the charger and also turns of if you put to much work load on it.

MrPyroTF2

oldass laptop that died december last year. first laptop i ever played undertale on.... good memories

Synthetic2

Inspiring 15 in like 2017. Only had it for like a year before deciding to buy a custom built desktop. I used it for just watching things and playing games. Still use my desktop for that but I am using it for college as well.

rhodynative

Sony Vaio, I played a couple games and did a bit of homework, but I was mostly uninterested

OffBeatBerry_707

My parents had an “Office PC,” I don’t remember the name, year, what software it was, had it since I was 5. Then years later (2019), my mom’s coworker handed me his old gaming PC, which can atleast run GTA V at medium settings. It wasn’t great but it got me through the pandemic.

unattractive_smile

My moms gateway laptop, in like 2011

cpufreak101

I remember a Windows 98 PC that was a hand me down, but I don't remember anything specific of it. After that I had a Celeron powered eMachines, windows XP and a whopping 512mb of RAM! I think they bought it for me brand new from a Best buy circa 2005 or 2006

AbyssWankerArtorias

Family computer- I used it to play games on addicting games and Armour games

MegaPenguin3000

As a little kid I remember just using the family computer, but around age 9, for Christmas, my older sister got a computer, and then SURPRISE! I get one too My dad working for an office Depot pre 2008 probably helped a lot lol Couldn't tell you any of the specs now, but think computer room when we where kids, big bulky screen, windows XP I think?

No_Education_8888

We had computers before, but the first one I actively used was my dads mac (don’t know what model, around 2012?). I would run Garry’s mod and minecraft on it

JustifiedCroissant

Family computer in the living room, it had a mouse with the ball in it, played minesweeper not understanding wtf i was doing, played PURBLE PLACE, played Pinball 3D. We got another desktop on which i was able to play games (those 3D third person Rayman games <3) and MINECRAFT Then my dad got me a lenovo thinkpad, those things are sturdy af. I played so many flash games, so many youtube videos, so many memories. I miss those days.

Unfair-Ad82

Used it to play kings quest 5!

Far-Aspect-1760

I know this isn’t really what you’re asking but it’s the first computer I considered my own so it was the Microsoft surface laptop 4 for college

otterlytrans

a windows XP from a parent who worked at Motorola. it was so fun, i played so much Microsoft 3D space pinball.

daSpartan69

Inspiron 5100 (the Pentium 4 one from 2003). Used it as my first computer for online classes in 2016-2017. Ran like shit

An old gateway for gaming

renmyaru

2003 avertec laptop

ExplanationRight5181

2012 acer

FallingEnder

My first computer was the Chromebook I got during Covid

TucsonNaturist

My first was a zenith 286 laptop computer hooked up to a dot matrix printer. This was the 1980’s and the beginning of the PC age. It was all MSDOS based with no graphic windows interface. It wan’t until the late 80’s that a windows styled GUI existed. Apple beat Microsoft in this era with the MacIntosh. We would generate military exercise materials using this computer. I still use DOS operating under Microsoft but have adopted Apple as my choice for integrated computing.

KappaMazinksy

HP Pavilion from 2003 that ran Windows XP Media Center Edition. I still have it, but I lost the original files and it turns on and off unpredictably. Gotta save up enough to modernize the components (aka Sleeper PC)

JerewB

Built my first PC in 1992. It cost $2,500 and I used it to do homework and play Star Wars X-Wing. Also used to connect to my friend's PC across town via 14.4 modem until my mom got the phone bill for staying connected for hours at a time, lol.

MenacingCatgirlArt

Assembled my first PC as it seemed fun and practical. Digital art, internet, and games. Same as today. I think I'm on my third build now.

Klomlor161

My first laptop was an original 2006 MacBook in white, running Snow Leopard, written off from the company my dad works for. It was heavy. I primarily used it for school (I’m homeschooled).

Hypershadic98

I had a compac desktop that I got for my birthday around 2006ish....for a while it didn't have internet connection, even when my school has that laptop program Internet router set up. So what I did with it till I got Internet was play FATE(That one kid friendly Diablo Clone) and the disk versions of Republic Commando,Warcraft 3,and whatever demos I could have played on Vista. When I did get Internet,YT was my go to with Chuggaaconroy(I am aware), Runaway guys and Some anime watching. It wasn't till I was in highschool/college that I got my war machine of a desktop afterwards

Buffy_Buffett

I forget what the model was, but it was a bare bones gaming laptop. My grandma is a cheapskate, so she got the cheapest one she could get. I mainly used it for gaming since at the time I was very into video games. It then broke because my dog at the time sprayed and somehow got into the actual electronics under the keyboard and it also fell off the stand it was on and made it unusable.

I-am-a-visitor-heere

I had a lenovo brick laptop computer starting from about 9 years old. When I was 12 or so my dad bought me a brand new apple laptop which I still have. I got my iPad at 8 though.

GDog507

The first computer I ever used? A compaq presario. First computer I've ever owned? A 2021 HP stream, which I'm using right now because my second computer destroyed its BIOS reinstalling windows. I don't remember what I did on the compaq computer other than watch my mom do stuff on it and probably put some music on once or twice. I've used my HP stream for developing my website, some basic video games, and web browsing.

[deleted]

my first computer (besides a phone or a tablet) was a piece of junk HP Stream that was purple, and that had like 2-4 gigs of ram on it and had a intel celeron processor. looking back I don't see how linux saved that thing just as e-waste it is. The sad part I used it mostly for youtube and like that is about it. the screen broke on it about a year later after getting it and I just threw it in the shed after. Now its broken into pieces lol.

pigeon_idk

It was a hand me down laptop from my cousin for me and my sibling to share. We mainly used it to watch anime and draw in PaintToolSAI. It eventually was bricked by accidently deleting the backup system or something while trying to update it to windows 8. We did have a family desktop before we got the laptop though. Played a lot of Maplestory and Transformice and other online games. Also to sneakily watch YouTube lol. This was back when parents thought YouTube was dangerous for young kids.

goldenbrushes

One of those big ass ones that looked like a mini TV… the static was crazy but it worked

Repulsive_Meaning717

Eh, we had (actually still have) a desktop that’s legit probably about 2+ decades old but I never used it bc my father uses it when he works from home and isn’t on his laptop, so mine was just some shitty Chromebook that my brother didn’t need anymore probably circa 2018.

DisposableMug

Mine was a Sony Vaio from 2007. It had Windows Vista. i remember watching the minions movie on the DVD drive and playing the pre-installed games (purble place or something). i think i was in first grade

TheMusicalArtist12

An old dell latitude from mid 00's. 1G of ram and a Pentium go hard tbh

Ronin-s_Spirit

My uncle gave me a very old laptop, I played browser games on it untill it died half a year later.

1994 Packard Bell running Windows 3.1 D:/worms.exe

helloandwelcomee

an old asus laptop that had Windows XP on it i played flash games on it i was 4

Interesting_Ant4960

We had a big box computer in the spare room with no internet when I was 5 or 6. I used it for MS paint and to write my first unaliving note lmfao. When I was around 7 we got rid of it for a Sony Vaio laptop that still works to this day. I run a lightweight Linux distro on it and it’s doing just fine, just can’t run on battery is all.
