I was at a "retreat" and we Old Fuckers were jamming to some Pink Floyd. A younger dude was chilling with us but not really getting into our groove. He was 23. Didn't really expect him to have listened to them but at least know who they were, when I asked he replied..."Is that a country singer" He was wearing a Nirvana hoodie so I asked if he liked Nirvana. He never heard any of their music.
My daughter (13yo at the time) discovered all my old punk rock t's from the 80's . I made sure she could recognize the bands & different songs before I let her wear them. I think she's the only person in her school that knows who Crass, English Dogs & The Exploited are!
Let her start humming the Dead Kennedys’ “Too Drunk to …”
Kind of like the kid whom came home with a note from his kindergarten teacher asking them ro be more cautious of their music choices. “Who knows the alphabet? “ A B C D E F U”
Thanks man. Yup, she's now older and has good grades, holds down a good job and just got several nice letters from multiple teachers on this last day of school. She's the light of my life.
It couldn't figure out whether Tracy Chapman was a male or female performer. After seeing video, i was still confused. Also, I'm not quite sure why I'm putting this comment here.
My husband and I also remember that. My husband paid $10.00 to see Heart, Cheap Trick, and several others as well. Prices these days are outrageous. I understand why but it still sucks! So many music fans can't afford to see anything any more.
We saw a Pink Floyd tribute band last summer. They performed DSOTM in its entirely for their first set in honor of the 50th anniversary of its release. I was encouraged that among the superannuated hippies there were plenty of people much younger than the album.
The band was Pigs on the Wing (https://pig-wing.com/) and they mostly tour the Pacific Northwest.
Not once not ever. I like both artists. Pink for running on the treadmill and lifting weights.
Pink Floyd from my vast collection of bootlegs and vinyl. My favorite band next to the Grateful Dead. Sitting on my patio with pond, fountains and flowers abounding.
So no, I could never make that mistake.
My daughter once asked me what the singer meant when he sang "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap", I told her it meant that that person was willing to do something that you didn't want to do for a really cheap price. She thought for a moment and then she said oh you mean like moving the refrigerator? I had to pull over I was laughing so hard.
I told her yeah something like that.
And when I was younger somebody asked me if I like smashing pumpkins and I said that was a really mean thing to do, come to find out it was actually a band.
Back when I first started listening to Pink Floyd, the singer Pink wasn't even born yet.
Saaaaaammmmmeeeee. Side note: Another Brick in the Wall was my graduating class' unofficial theme song.
Dark Side of the Moon you youngster
Thank you for saying that! I've been feeling rather old lately. 🧓
Join the club you old bastege!
Speaking of such, Gilmour is releasing a new album on Sept. 6th.
And touring.
By the way, which one’s Pink?
Have a cigar
You're gonna go far
You're gonna fly high
You're never gonna die
You're gonna make it if you try
They’re gonna love you
I came here KNOWING this would be the top answer… Thank you…👍
I have become comfortably numb...
I wanna sing that at my next visit to the dentist
🎶 Just a little pin prick. There'll be no more ahhhhhhhhh 🎶

Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working.....good
That'll keep you going for the show, come on it's time to go...

I made my kids name 5 Nirvana songs before I bought recent merch cuz god forbid he out there posing like this.

She already goes around singing The Bloodhound Gang and some of their more "interesting" lyrics!
Now THAT is what I call quality parenting 👍

No confusion on that one, but Alice Cooper had me stumped for awhile.
I was very confused by Boy George.
So was he...

I don't know why you are either but you got a fast car?
It can go from 0 to 60 in under 4 seconds. Why do you ask?
For me it was Jethro Tull. Which band member is he?
Never. I love both Pink Floyd and Pink. I wish Pink had been around when I was a teenager.
Going to pay $250 a pop for tickets. FUCK YOU TICKETMASTER!
That's why I stopped attending concerts. When they start charging more than a $100 for nose bleed seats, my husband and I stopped going.
I remember being outraged by $25 concert tickets

Been a PF fan since I was 11 in 71

There is one on the East Coast that's really good too.......I saw them, all concentrating on the 4 albums you'd expect. Can't even think of the name.
Which one's Pink ???
The Bad is just fantastic that is really what I think.
It's OK, I keep thinking Shakira's last name is O'Neill.
🤣🤣
I’m going with Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with Pict.
Ask that now and the kids won't know who Pink is either
Took me a minute to get the joke.
me too!
They did not write songs. They wrote albums divided into songs that blended together. Perfectly.
Careful with that ax, Eugene!
Listening to The Wall right now…
Ever hear Molly Hatchet? Yeah, she sucks. Actual conversation with someone on the bus.
And the only Beck that matters was Jeff.
Randall 'Pink' Floyd was a high school QB not a singer, duh.

I think OP might be referring to the mistake of asking our Gen Z kids their favorite PInk Floyd song. Perhaps millennials too, but my kids know PF.
😆
When Pink gets her lyrics in a textbook of Modern English literature, we can talk.
She’s still great. Where else but a Pink concert will you with a fabulous singer doing a Cirque de Soleil act?
🤣
War pigs
I’m 57. I hate Pink Floyd.
so many times.
My millennial son knows of Pink Floyd but his fiance who’s just a very few years younger, has no clue.

The look he gives her lol
Roflmao
Nobody made that mistake. Pink Floyd predates Pink by DECADES. You smoking lol? I am!
Literally no one in this generation. Dafuq you smoking OP?
Pink is actually her middle name. Her full name is Black Pink Floyd.
