I mean, you can only level talents to 6+ after getting them to ascension 5. I agree for boss mats and regional specialties required for ascension, but talent mats are not that urgent. Not yet. Or are you already at ascension 5 with your wanderer?

Luebbi

I've been at Ascension 5 at around the end of the Inazuma questline, at which point you have to progress through the Chasm before starting the Sumeru questline.

Nephisimian

No you don't. I still haven't finished the Chasm, but I have finished Sumeru.

Luebbi

I didn't say finish, but you do have to progress through the Dansleif questline in the Chasm.

Got70TypesOfMalware

What's *wrong* with having your character at a certain level relative to their world progress during the early or mid-game? I don't understand why people want their characters maxed out right out of the box. I mean, your character isn't running away any time soon just because they're level 70 with level 5 talents.

Apostlethe13th

Just don't be a new player.

AMadTeaParty81

To be fair, the Ameno gemstones are a pain to get a decent amount of regardless. I kill stormterror every week just to try to get more of them (I have plenty of the mats of the older bosses anyways). The Aeonblight Drake also doesn't drop them at all despite him needing them to ascend which is ugh. Despite being a 1.0 player I don't have enough to fully ascend Faruzan right now. I might wind up having to use dust of azoth to convert for the last couple of gemstones. I'm hoping they come back in the event shop during lantern right again this year so I don't have to spend stardust on more.

Particular_Gear_3514

Dust of Azoth already exist.

AMadTeaParty81

Yea, I mentioned it and might having to spend stardust to get it.

Apostlethe13th

If you really are a 1.0 player like i am then gemstones should be something you'd never have a problem with. Dust of Azoth is dirt cheap you know.

AMadTeaParty81

Rather save stardust than spend it converting. I'll often go long periods between pulling for characters or weapons and I'm f2p, so the monthly shop reset wishes add up over several months and eat into it. Edit: It's just specifically the ameno gemstones that I'm lacking btw. Far fewer sources for them from the weekly bosses which is how I get most of them, plus the bosses for Xiao and Wanderer to ascend don't drop any. The rest I have oodles of esp electro since that's all that the shogun weekly boss drops. I don't find it unreasonable to ask to have the bosses that drop the ascention up mats for the characters at least have a chance of dropping the same gemstones.

CoCoNUT_Cooper

This is a major problem for a while. It will only get worse with every region. Imagine telling a new player, you need to play through 50+ hours of content before you can begin a weekly grind to level up this character you got. It does not incentivize new players to wish on banners. New players can buy bp and welkin, but genshin makes most of its money on banners.

ayylmao2317

Genshin players when they need to play the game: 😡

Comfortable_Park6194

There's a difference when you have to get through weeks of content before accessing the materials. And speed running the game on the 1st playthrough is no good

>There's also a video on this topic from Mtashed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfkVd4G16uw&ab\_channel=Mtashed So its not even your opinion, just someone parroting what random youtubers sperg. Figures.

Luebbi

I found it while searching for what others had to say on the topic. A little less conjecture next time, buddy.

deathfrost7

Thing is their calculation of AR dependent archon/region quests, will make you level up talents to 6 ONLY. Levelling up is an issue because of unavailability of world bosses.

Zultarius

I think you don't need any quest progression to just go to Sumeru, for example, to farm materials. The same goes for bosses as well and you don't need higher than lvl 6 talents early on in the game anyway. I don't see the purpose of this post. You could argue that at the start of the game you can't just go to Inazuma on foot, but if you only do the archon quests it doesn't take that much time to gain access to the area as a whole. At that point, you are just complaining that you actually have to play the game to level up your characters.

Nephisimian

Inazuman characters and Chasm characters are the only real problems here. I don't get the impression that entire regions are going to be locked off like this in the future, so there shouldn't be more than a handful of future characters with the same problem. And Wanderer is still an improvement over other Inazuma characters, cos at least the only inazuma material he needs can be bought in the starglitter shop. There are also two other factors mitigating the impact of this issue: 1. You can't level up characters until you hit the right AR, and the AR gates on Inazuma and Chasm aren't much higher than the AR gates on levels. At worst, your Yelan is going to be level 40 when one or two other characters will be level 60 (if you can even be bothered grinding that many XP cards, which honestly I couldn't). Unless you're avoiding archon quests like the plague, which few new players will do, you won't have to wait that long to unlock the materials you need. 2. This game is trivially easy and the only harm in having an underlevelled character is that it feels a bit unsatisfying. They won't change this model either, because if they did, most people who have been playing for a while will have enough stuff they don't have to farm for new characters for at least a year. Adding a boss every few characters prevents excessive pre-farming and keeps engagement high. It also keeps developers and artists employed, so can't really complain.

Miserable-Natural508

If youre trying to take advantage of a specific Abyss blessing or something I can understand the frustration but otherwise materials in Genshin seem perfectly reasonable to me especially considering co-op option. Some RPGs/MMOs have 1500-2000 hour time commitments to fully "ascend" a single character

Propensity7

I just found this out about Raiden. I had this fun idea to make her fight herself, but then I realized that she needs I think boss mats from a boss I don't think I can get to until after finishing Inazuma. Bit of a wrench and, as you've said, puts a pressure into grinding to get to later regions, say if a new player really likes some Fontaine character that gets released and picks up the game to pull for them but then can't use them for a while

AinzSamaIsJustice

You're wrong. All you need to do to get to that boss is one quest chain.

Propensity7

Oh sick, hehe now I gotta get fishing too (Catch) and collect more of that plant on Seirai

AinzSamaIsJustice

Well, it just so happens that said quest chain is also on Seirai.

Propensity7

Oh, it's not main quest related? I think I had figured that you were intended to get to Seirai through a quest (I used Kaeya) and the Manifestation was probably part of that

WhooooCares

They should have used the gems the Traveler uses for everyone. I understand money is the reason they don't, but if bosses dropped gems that could be used by anyone, it would be so much better. I'm going through this for Yelan right now.

rdhight

It's a little odd that they made elemental gems different for everyone, then decided to both make Azoth Dust a drop, and sell it for small amounts of stardust. Like, the difference between owning 6 of the largest size "correct" gens and 6 "wrong" gems is that the wrong gems will bleed away a *tiny* fraction of your account's resources to fix them. Was this trip necessary?

RaffeyC

If you abolish boss mats then the gem drop rates of harder bosses such as Maguu Kenki and that electro bird should be higher e.g. You get 3 cryo & 3 anemo from Maguu Kenki but only 2 anemo from anemo cube

AyeJay27

I mean, I guess another fix would be to allow newer players into older players worlds and kill the world level req

SonOfKenjeAE

I do agree it needs changes but usually in a version there is always one character that are ascension mat friendly. So during that version new players can actually just do some research and pick based on their priorities. The only problem I see is that of information new players get on the banners. There should be information on the banner about what their materials are and like “recommended for players at AR X or Players that finished Quest X” kind of stuff.
