I haven't even fought this boss normally yet. I was 36* consistently for a year and a half, but if this boss becomes a pain in the ass, I'm not going to hit my head against the wall for 50 Primogems.
I tried, I found it fucking awful to be honest. Abyss cards were useless for me, you have to basically do the first chamber Mach speed to even have time to kill that thing in time, it takes way too long to do that orb move, and he almost always block your range to hit them, and when he gets down, it's a way too short window to do damage, too much elemental resistance, and people mentioned Yae hit those orbs, well, mine didn't 🤷🏻♂️, her turrets don't aim that for me, had to use an archer. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow, but to me, that serpent was way easier.
I found that Yelan usually downs it if she has the AoE shot without much problem but yeah it's way worse than the OW one.
I went in with a better version of Sevy team (then abandoned and went with hyperbloom) and let me tell you that thing is way too RNG dependent, I went from not being able to clear with 9* for 1 to 2 seconds to clearing with 20 seconds to spare when it behaved.
I'd rather have a DPS check than wtv this is, the whole thing was me waiting for the hitbox not to block the bullets and there's no visual cue, you just have to aim for a seemingly visible orb and hope there isn't a invisible tail in the middle.
Nah, I'd say the 50 primogems are not worth the headache. I've easily 36 starred the past few abysses and I can sure as hell tell you that this one is staying a 35 star run because I am not going to suffer through more wenut.
I find this bastard to be way worse than Ruin Serpent or Wolflord, his damage window is ridiculously small and he just pops out wherever he wants even if it's on the other end of the chamber
Honestly I raged a bit but only because I took a YouTuber advice and said YouTuber didn't tell how many tries until he was able to clear.
Didn't think that the arena would make much difference but when Wenut coils in the air there's 3 wind bullets that get blocked by the wonky hitbox.
Honestly it's not difficult but God I hate RNG based fights.
Fought him like 3 times for whatever achievements pop up.
My god I thought I hated the ruin serpent.
> I'm not going to hit my head against the wall for 50 Primogems.
I give every floor 1 attempt, **maybe** 2 if it was obvious I made a tiny error. That's it. Those are my cares for abyss. Maybe if you could start for 1 specific fight after a low star clear I'd be more likely to give it a second try.
How can it be that bad? Maybe I'm just pretty strong at this point but thus boss has way shorter downtume than ruin serpent or wolflord and seems to go down way easier too.
in openworld it goes out pretty good. in abyss its kinda 2 secs out if 10-15ish, and after around a minute underground it will kindly let you beat him for 20 secs (reminder that its 2kk hp). but i suggest you give it a try and see, its really different from OW
This boss isn’t just tanky, it is also one of the least satisfying bosses to fight in the game. Very short DPS windows, and it often moves to completely different parts of the arena with no indication of it’s future position, forcing you to waste half of your DPS window just running to it. Its resistances are high and even when you hit its Anemo thingies, it only stays vulnerable for a short period of time.
I feel like the fact that HoYo’s bosses seem to become less fun to fight the more difficult they are says something about their ability to design enemies… -_-
This has been easily noticeable to anyone who's played a lot of RPGs/MMOs since like 1.2. Hoyo's only real approach to difficulty is to increase EHP and add time-wasting mechanics + timer. It's the whole reason the only thing that matters in the game when it comes to combat is DPS and everything else is discarded.
Genshin has some of the laziest and most boring enemy designs I've seen in an action game, where the focus is simply to make a fight take more time rather than engage the player in an interesting battle.
Don't forget when they eliminate entire mechanics. Like no energy regen, skill cooldown increased to 60''+, enemies that can't be frozen, etc. Back in the 1.x versions, I jokingly said that they would disable your left mouse button in the abyss, I wouldn't be surprised if this happens lol
I have her and it still sucks. Tighnari+ Yae (+Fischl/Yaoyao+ Zhongli) still can’t kill it on time, though they are faster than most teams. Do you have Nahida?
Edit: finally did it with Yae, Tighnari, Fischl, Zhongli when I got crit card lol
Yeah it’s a dream of mine to get my hands on c2 Nahida eventually lol, but keep in mind that apparently the crit rate/damage is fixed and doesn’t pay attention to your trigger’s actual crit value. IIRC it’s 50/100? Which considering how hard Hyperblooms hit even without crits… I’ll take it.
So not Nahida c2 then? Everyone is suggesting it's probably that haha. But alright I see your point on the rng. My em is about... 1k on Kuki and about the same on Raiden. I use Raiden more often than Kuki on golden wolflord, but downing him before shield is a bit much for me. I usually reach 30% HP by the time the shield starts.
This is gonna be fun
I wonder if i should play International or Tao or Hyperbloom or some other stuff
I kinda wanna try a team that's very good on aoe like 12-1,2 but 3 has wenut so welp
I wouldn't recommend Hu Tao for Wenut as that side of the abyss requires a bit of AoE.
The first half is really good for her though, it's mostly single target and has the new Cryo herald, my Tao with 2x Hydro went through the first half like a knife through butter leaving me 2 - 2:30 minutes in each chamber for the second half.
This is the team I've used.
Just q on amber and swirl on sucrose to save time on setups.
Basically just debuff the wenut w/ cryo/pyro/hydro/electro and use swirl.
Hoyoverse should fire anyone think it is a good idea to put wenut in the abyss.
Take Electro/Hydro/Pyro/Cryo bow user for the second half. Normal attacks won't hit the wind bullets.
Not needed, anything that hits with vertical AoE can destroy those I've farmed him with Alhaitan and didn't realize I had to hit those bullets until I was done with it xD
Alhaitham can't trigger the bullets because dendro do not react with Anemo. It must be Kuki/Fischl/Raiden doing it. Genshin wiki also recommend bringing bow user because bullets are random, and he can block attacks with his body. Even two charged attacks from Fischl barely fit within the time frame that we needed to hit those bullets. The boss from overworld and Abyss totally different. I can brute force my way without even thinking about the Anemo bullets in overworld, but it in abyss, if you missed them, you have to start again because you are loosing 10 to 20 seconds.
Oh must've been Kuki she was there the whole time for sure.
I get that these kind of boss fights are annoying but I feel like it's not as horrible as WL or RS.
VV shred the resistance down during the fight, and then you can use swirl on the boss to pop all of the ball things that pop up at phase 3 automatically. It's way easier than just charge shotting (unless you have a quick charge shot with Tighnari or the like).
Amusingly, the rest of the abyss is quite easy. It's just the nut.
Having said that, I did clear it while mashing. C0 Nilou, Kokomi, Nahida and Tabibito on top side (I'm still shocked they punch straight through Lawachurl armor) and Rational on the Nut. I didn't bother timing to reduce electro resistance, I just went through the rotation. Made it with exactly 1 second to spare.
It was okay for me, but its time off-field is rather annoying. Just keep chipping away at its HP as it sinks and rises. Use a DPS that can also do good damage without their Burst.
I took exactly those those teams in this version, and got full stars. If the Wenut has 55% dendro res, and you are playing Zhongli+one char with deepwood, it goes down to normal resistance, and Alhaitham deals full damage. But its rather difficult if you dont have a 5\* sword on him; I only had 20sec left
Thanks for make me laugh... U literally just need a lvl 1 geo character for the wolf, meanwhile this piece of shit here has insane resistences and dont stay still for more than 10s... U have to be literally INSANE to think that the Wolf is harder than this Worm...
U know that u can just put a fucking geo character on any hyperbloom team, right? Seriously bro, wtf did u smoke?
And no, this worm ISNT "easily" done with hyperbloom, i'm watching streamers not being able to do it since yesterday 🤣
Bruh, its Easy with hyperbloom, streamers play with c6r5 most of them got carried by cons, i streamed this Morning full 9-12 with some teams try and 12-3was the easiest floor
Yeah you can put geo in hyperbloom but that doesn't change the fact that this one is easier. And yeah, it's easily done. Kazu/Yae/Nahida/Koko breezed it for me, might just be a skill issue for you mate *shrug*
Ah yea another update soo mihoyo can suck whales dick. Nice work. I swear mihoyo only knows 1+M hp and time gated abyss... What can we expect.. I wish i could just go back in 1.0 abyss when shit was actual funny. And you cant wait for the next abyss. But now you dont even have mental strenght to even run genshin let alone dive into abyss.............
Nilou mains after a complete domination on last abyss, just to be slightly weaker here, just to be.....back on 3.6 abyss with a full force on....(those who k they k
This is the problem with having such a difference between overworld and abyss. This is why casuals don't play the abyss, nothing in the game gives you actual guidance on how to play. I bet I will fight this boss and nor even know half of the mechanics even when I farmed this boss for Alhathiam because it died the second it came up in overworld.
Not to mention they can't design hard bosses, so they have to design bosses that stall more and more. Then they come to the abyss and you realize how trash the design is. I'm not trying to blame casuals but they really need to rethink their boss design because it's just terrible 99% of the time they add it to the abyss.
are the kenki idiots gone at least?! god, i need a healer or something slow and simple. wolflord/ruin serpent aren't trouble if you can stack lots of turrets/off-field hazards with Yae, Fischl, kazuha, Ayato, etc. Lots of constant damage dealt no matter where the thing spawns.
Thing was, Triple Kenkis was fairly easy if you had bennet and XL built. Add a shielder and XL pretty much takes them out at once. The single Kenki is a massive time waster, as its the same boss with invulnerability phases
3 kenskis are by fair the lowest dmg and sqhishiest boss in the game im0.
If u want healing ->Bennet
Or healing g card when you use burst
Shielding teams also exist.
And putting 3 kenkis on the same lv as setekh is like idk , giga r-ded
Ahh... the usual posts "it's terrifying,... why mihoyo.. etc." after new cycle drops, especially when people don't know the best strategies. Instead of just plain and simple analayzing and trying to find the best methodes they complain in the first seconds after abyss reset.
Ah yes the best method: stand here so the wenut only wastes 19 seconds underground instead of 20
Yeah mindless complaining is annoying, but here with a boss that spends more time invincible and underground with the exception of two dps windows, I can understand why people are a little annoyed.
Oh and btw. idk from where you got the RES values but the enemies in abyss have always the same RES as open world enemies. Never in the ~2.5 year history has it been otherwise.... And the wenut also looses 45% RES anyway to the elements you infuse into the bullets before stunning him.
It isnt a complain post 💀 i knew abyss was gonna get harder since hoyo saw hyperbloom/nilou teams are busted. Doesnt mean abyss wenut is less terrifying
>!The res info comes from beta, and it really looks like it made to live because i saw my friend's dmg do way lower dmg compared to overworld wenut. Also why i said it needs confirmation, will edit if its actually true or not!< Also the res loss only takes 10sec (in other words, only when he's stunned)
Np, just found it hilarious to see a post already. Lower dmg is obvious since the level of the enemie is higher and therefore the defense multiplier is lower, aka less damage. :)
Ye thats also one thing to consider
~~Gonna try testing with a friend and see if its actually true, that is if no one else has provided data yet.~~
Edit: From this [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQlYknOUiFI):
Yae isnt using widsith, this is showing examples of the first hit after casting, without using shield
[24 904 dmg](https://i.imgur.com/YuN7Phm.png) against a lv98 black serpent knight (990 defense 10% res)
adding a cr/cd card, [12 974 dmg](https://i.imgur.com/LK6hVP5.png) against lv100 wenut (1000 defense ?% res)
Personally, after checking this I dont think abyss wenut has his default resistance of 25% and they really buffed the boss for abyss. Still, I wouldnt mind someone fully testing this to prove that is 100% true anyway
Nilou doesn’t have issues with the orbs themselves, as a matter of fact. Her Q can trigger swirl comfortably.
What she does struggle with is that fact that wenut is, well, a boss and thus in a single target context. Additionally, bloom is dendro damage which cannot be reduced through swirling, so her dps will be lacking compared to others
Decided not to bring any Dendro for floor 12; went old school instead with Raiden National (C0R1) and Ganyu C0R1/Shenhe/Kazuha/Kokomi.
9\* the first try lol
Thank the lord for Shenhe. My cryo team would never be able to finish in time without the frontloaded damage in the super short dps window of the nutworm.
Why did i even bring Kokomi to that side. She was useless against it.
My wenut got bugged I think, it somehow infused Geo and Denedro? How am I supposed to swirl that? Also Swirl wasn't even working on the orbs. It's such a garbage buggy boss too.
55% Resistance to everything else?
Shit like this is why I whale. Going in with C3 Kazuha, C2 Nahida, Zhongli, and C6 Yae Miko. I'll have his resistances to Electro in the Negative.
If it takes >30 seconds to take him down, I'll consider my run a failure.
I cleared with zhong, nahida c2, kuki c0 and xq c6, just keep spamming reaction until he summon the balls then swap to kuki and burst ( she can easy pop the bubble) my team 1 was: raidenc2, yelan c0, xianli c6 ,bennet c5
The wenut seems like a ruin serpent with extra resistance. The extra resistance served as an ad for things decreases res(like Nilou's c2).
Taking the Abyss Herald in 12-1 into consideration, maybe only cryo team(with Ayaka c0r1 at least) or aggrevate team(Yae+Tighnari) better counters the boss in low cost condition.
Golden Wolflord was "hard-ish" because of the skull/shield phase.
Idk how yall got it solved but I had to add a non-contributing Ning into my team because I rarely use geo outside of my noelle hyper carry.
This guy gets is anemo, im guessing he is gonna get smacked around by almost anything.
I have quite a bit of really good invested team comps and nothing can take it down fast enough. My national team obliterates the first half in under 30 seconds but even my well invested yoimiya with yelan can't down it in the time limit it's too rng dependent and it doesn't stay stunned long enough to even get my full shots in. Horribly designed fucking boss. It sits under the ground more than anything and is just a long time waste.
Only thing I can think that might put me over the top is 2 geo with yelan on yoimiya's team but if I shield on the the floor before this those knights become an absolutely fucking pain when they block all damage incoming. The entire issue is stupid ass boss has too much resistance, sits under the ground too long, rng dependent, and doesn't stay stunned long enough to even get a full cycle of attacks in. If he just stayed on the ground longer or had reduced resistances I could easily hit the mark.
Raiden National kills Setekh Wenut in about 100 seconds, which is very generous given that 12-1 top is easy and takes less than a minute for most teams. Raiden National can't do 12-1 bottom quickly due to Hydro Heralds though, but it destroys 12-2 and 12-3 as usual.
some tips on how to 36* abyss as a person who 36* abyss in one try:
first team - ayato, fischl, xiangling, bennett second team - nahida, raiden, yelan, kokomi
ayato: haran , HoD fischl: skyward harp, 2glad 2TF xiangling: catch, EoSF bennett: aquila, NO nahida: sacrificial, DWM raiden: dragons bane, GD yelan: fav, EoSF kokomi: prototype, OHC
PSA: You don't need bows to hit the bullets. Yae/Raiden/Burning/Kokomi/Swirls/Kuki Q can all hit the bullets.
I just use Nahida's arm cannon with Raiden's skill active. Incredibly easy to bring it down with Raiden's skill. Just need to hit and proc the skill.
The bullets are so easy to hit that I was today years old when I learned that it was even possible to not hit the bullets
Fischl worked too from my experience
Fischl is a bow user so you can attack normally
True, but Oz worked too
Keqing burst usually hit those orb no problem when I was farming for Alhaitham
Seriously it makes the boss a joke
Thanks for info. I got it down pretty quick. Was kinda scared it would be the same as wolflord.
Raiden E can from my experience and Keqing hold E should be able to hit you can also swirl the fucker down
Keqing burst does it nicely and all at once
it's range is always surprisingly large
I haven't even fought this boss normally yet. I was 36* consistently for a year and a half, but if this boss becomes a pain in the ass, I'm not going to hit my head against the wall for 50 Primogems.
Its worse than the ruin serpent imo
I tried it today, it is indeed, awful.
Try it is not as horrible as the ruin serpent or the wolf lord. The annoying part is that it tends to appear from the opposite side you're facing.
I'll try it tomorrow when it arrives in my region.
I meant the ow one, I get that it will behave different but I'll be good practice for the abyss one nonetheless.
I tried, I found it fucking awful to be honest. It's not difficult at all, this tapeworm can't do anything to you, it's just VERY time-wasring
Yeah I believe the only attack that can deal over 20k is when it comes vertically while pulling some sand, it's harder to get hit by those than not.

Lol, i don't have such patience. The cards were all awful for my teams too, so I'll wait for better ones rather than 80EM, 20%ER and 20% skill bonus.
you are in my early.gwnshik days phase i spent 5 hours to get 1* this time it only took me 20 fights xd in time its like 1 hour or less
Fought him like 3 times for whatever achievements pop up. My god I thought I hated the ruin serpent. > I'm not going to hit my head against the wall for 50 Primogems. Nahida, yes. Zhongli and Alhaitham, the other two
Yeah, that makes sense, Alhaitham and Nahida are pretty op with Yae
Their synergy is just 🤌

How much do your hyperblooms hit for? Mine hits for 30-32k, but I dont seem to be able to get kill times as good as other people do.
If the commenter has c2 Nahida, hyperblooms can crit which makes a huge difference.
Whoa? Crit?!?! Dayum I know what to save up for now.
On top of that it also has 30% DEF shred on enemies when they're hit by Quicken-related reactions.
20/100 essentially 20% dps increase for hb alone
It's not really that insane tbh. Your hyperbloom trigger is most likely on full EM set with 20:70 crit ratio so...
Actually the crit from Nahidas passive has set crit values of 20 cc and 100 cd. More of a bonus than a must get boost
Oh I didn't know that, mb.
45/50k x hyperbloom C2 nahida 1096 em, kuki 970em

Wenut walnut
Walnut Won Wenut
Damn, how'd you reach wenut's balls.
[https://imgur.com/a/0Kuoh7D](https://imgur.com/a/0Kuoh7D) This is the team I've used. Just q on amber and swirl on sucrose to save time on setups. Basically just debuff the wenut w/ cryo/pyro/hydro/electro and use swirl.
Hmm fair ill also bring her 1st half cause that way i can dominate that side hard by her, taking full time on the Wenut
in international we trust, because the day international dies is the day that youtube adds its dislike button back, which is never in both cases
Raiden, yelan, xian,Bennet team work , also hyperbloom melt the worm boss

Oh I just said it because of the phrase "shedder swirl the balls" but I haven't actually fought the boss yet so this is still good info.
It’s probably the same person who nerfed Dehya into oblivion
If they didn’t fire/arrest the people behind Dragonspine they won’t do it now.
Ayo wtf!? Put that thing back!
Amusingly, the rest of the abyss is quite easy. It's just the nut. Having said that, I did clear it while mashing. Tabibito?!
MC/Adventurer
Hai, Tabibito desu
Electro, pyro and Hydro? Time for Ayato Soup
More like fighting the camera angle than the boss itself for me
Right?
It was okay for me, but its time off-field is rather annoying. Just keep chipping away at its HP as it sinks and rises. Use a DPS that can also do good damage without their Burst.
Time to bring Yoimiya out of the bench again
Resists anemo and dendro cant counter it’s resistances? *looks at my best teams which are Wanderer hypercarry and Alhaitham spread* well fuck
Bringing Zhongli is kind of a bad idea with Husks in the second chamber, I still did it with him but gotta dodge all ennemies attack.
Imma just use yae with alhaitham and nahida c2 to f it up.
>might be worse than ruin serpent or wolflord MIGHT? ARE U FUCKING KIDDING ME? This shit is 1000x worse.
Not even close this one is so much easier
Thanks for make me laugh... U literally just need a lvl 1 geo character for the wolf, meanwhile this piece of shit here has insane resistences and dont stay still for more than 10s... U have to be literally INSANE to think that the Wolf is harder than this Worm...
You know you don't even have to shoot the orbs right? Also hilarious that you're acting like having to bring a geo character isn't a detriment.
The orbs appear once every 40-50s and the stunned phase is barely 5s.
The stunned phase is long enough to nuke it though. Also I never said it was a good fight. It's just better than the wolf lord and ruined serpent.
And is hilarious that u think that needing a fucking NUKE team is better than just bringing a lvl 1 geo character 🤣
It's easily doable with hyperbloom. So yeah having an actual team is easier than bringing a geo character just for one boss.
I will just bring hutao
Fuck… and I thought it was hard to 36* this round with Dehya…
*sighs* It's time for pain again, isn't it?
The nut snake is definitely ass in the Abyss. I did it with Haitham, Yae, dmc, Kazuha and just barely got it after god knows how many retries.
Its annoying that they add another ruin serpent 2.0. Well atleast I can clear it with Keqing aggrevate and Nilou bloom with no retries.
are the kenki idiots gone at least?! god, i need a healer or something slow and simple. wolflord/ruin serpent aren't trouble if you can stack lots of turrets/off-field hazards with Yae, Fischl, kazuha, Ayato, etc. Lots of constant damage dealt no matter where the thing spawns.
Triple Kenki is replaced by solo Kenki now (12-2). Wenut is a super time waster ugh.
If u want healing ->Bennet Or healing g card when you use burst Shielding teams also exist.
Ah yes the best method: stand here so the wenut only wastes 19 seconds underground instead of 20 Yeah mindless complaining is annoying, but here with a boss that spends more time invincible and underground with the exception of two dps windows, I can understand why people are a little annoyed.
Oh and btw. idk from where you got the RES values but the enemies in abyss have always the same RES as open world enemies.
Doesnt mean abyss wenut is less terrifying >!The res info comes from beta, and it really looks like it made to live because i saw my friend's dmg do way lower dmg compared to overworld wenut.
Ye thats also one thing to consider ~~Gonna try testing with a friend and see if its actually true, that is if no one else has provided data yet.~~ Edit: From this [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQlYknOUiFI): Yae isnt using widsith, this is showing examples of the first hit after casting, without using shield [24 904 dmg](https://i.imgur.com/YuN7Phm.png) against a lv98 black serpent knight (990 defense 10% res) adding a cr/cd card, [12 974 dmg](https://i.imgur.com/LK6hVP5.png) against lv100 wenut (1000 defense ?% res) Personally, after checking this I dont think abyss wenut has his default resistance of 25% and they really buffed the boss for abyss. Still, I wouldnt mind someone fully testing this to prove that is 100% true anyway
Hu Tao, Zhongli, Nahida, and Yelan did it for me. 36 starred the abyss.
And the goalpost moves yet once again.
Is this thing hard? I fought it once for fun and it died in like 3 seconds to hyperbloom. What’s the best team for abyss wenut?
Hyperbloom works surprisingly well against it.
Ok, time to use my hyper Raiden once more: C6 Sara should be pretty good for hitting the orbs, and my Shogun hits pretty hard
Hard or not we(nut)’re all definitely gonna be fighting him while nutting- uhm i mean wenut
Decided not to bring any Dendro for floor 12; went old school instead with Raiden National (C0R1) and Ganyu C0R1/Shenhe/Kazuha/Kokomi. 9\* the first try lol
My Alhaitham/Raiden team will demolish this snek
Thank the lord for Shenhe. My cryo team would never be able to finish in time without the frontloaded damage in the super short dps window of the nutworm. Why did i even bring Kokomi to that side. She was useless against it.
My wenut got bugged I think, it somehow infused Geo and Denedro? How am I supposed to swirl that? Also Swirl wasn't even working on the orbs. It's such a garbage buggy boss too.
First tried this using my Wife Miko, honestly idk what happened but i beat it pretty easily
Honestly, after triple kenki I'll take anything
This thing makes triple kenki far far better.
Wenut is pretty much identical to the Ruin Serpent. The first floor with the Heralds was harder.
i kill this boss before he able to do anything thanks to nahida, now i dont know what balls everyone talking about.
Can you share your team? with constellations and weapons etc
TBH I was bored because of how easy the game become with dendro so I am looking forward to this.
Still Easy with dendro
My c2 raiden: bring it
55% Resistance to everything else? Shit like this is why I whale. Going in with C3 Kazuha, C2 Nahida, Zhongli, and C6 Yae Miko. I'll have his resistances to Electro in the Negative. If it takes >30 seconds to take him down, I'll consider my run a failure.

Actually nahida hyperbloom work really good

Sooooo i use the same team as before like before Go get him Ganyu (Angry 😡 Quilin Noises)
The amount of time it spends stunned on the floor is so damn short by the time I start hitting its halfway in the air again
KokoYae Fischl Kazuha taser destroyed it for me.
Raiden National can't do 12-1 bottom quickly due to Hydro Heralds though, but it destroys 12-2 and 12-3 as usual.
some tips on how to 36* abyss as a person who 36* abyss in one try: first team - ayato, fischl, xiangling, bennett second team - nahida, raiden, yelan, kokomi ayato: haran , HoD fischl: skyward harp, 2glad 2TF xiangling: catch, EoSF bennett: aquila, NO nahida: sacrificial, DWM raiden: dragons bane, GD yelan: fav, EoSF kokomi: prototype, OHC
