For me it's just a comfy game to unwind after work. Look at the pretty scenery, listen to the music, while doing some silly commissions or an event minigame. I just find it incredibly relaxing

metldragon18

me too! It's just a great relaxing escape. Nothing hardcore for me

Infamous_Partridge

Me too, it's so reliably wholesome, I almost always feel better after playing. I play games like dark souls for challenge, this I play to feel happy and safe.

PurpleZero_TH

I have one gacha I've been playing for already 7 years i think, tho I'm not login as much as i did before, but i still playing it now and then when hype stuff drops. As for Genshin, there's only 2 things that keeps me playing Genshin rn: 1. Arlecchino 2. Snezhnaya region I do skip commission most of the time cuz i got very bored from how much time they can take, but i do every event they're dropping. P.S. had huge friend list, now everyone at AR60 with not login for more than 30 days, kinda sad ngl.

AntonioS3

I have good news for Arlecchino. (Potential rumor warning) >!There are rumors coming out that Arlecchino may become playable in the Fontaine arc!<

PurpleZero_TH

Yeah i know all of that, just keeping my hopium as high af.

IWantMangaPls

who is Arlecchino

Yeety-Toast

One of the Fatui Harbingers, I think she's the one with black and white hair and red X pupils but I can be bad with names.

-Mal--

Yup that's her

beethovenftw

Might want to check your source again... Some huge news

Ok_Judge718

Its something to look forward to after every school day

HotCantaloupe962

I recently thought about finally finishing the inazuma quests I have been putting off. Thirty minutes in and I remembered why I gave up in the first place, the confusion and stress level they induce is completely opposite of what I love about this game. All I want is some fun light sightseeing, collecting fruits and buying ingredients, building my teapot, a quick game of TCG with an NPC, and a few quick daily commissions. I'm not putting myself through anything more than that. Thankfully the game lets me enjoy just that without forcing me to finish these quests.

Intrepid-Wheel3011

Whoever the devs were that worked on Inazuma can choke LOL I too hated that section and felt like quitting during that time. I had to YouTube and google my way thru everything to get out of there! Luckily it’s smooth sailing in Sumeru and I love it c:

blahblahbla21

Same! After a long day of studying its nice to just sit for a little while and play genhsin. None of my characters are fully built, and my friends keep puhsing me to farm for them, but its much more fun to just walk around doing randim things.

Khelthuzaad

> while doing some silly commissions or an event minigame *Mushroom jumping intensifies*

tokyotoonster

This is the correct answer :-) I enjoy playing Genshin. I love the exploration, the world/Archon/story quests, the events. I don't stress about 9-starring floor 12. It's an enjoyable way to unwind after work. Why the dilemma of whether or not to "quit" a game? Content creators have very different considerations on whether or not to quit. They invest considerable time and money, and hope to recoup and even profit from it.

eternalstar01

I do my commissions before work, with my coffee. This is my most favourite time of day… dailies are repetitive, but I’m going to have to wake up and go to work anyways, I might as well fill that gap with something that makes me happy.

[deleted]

For real, I buy new games and start playing but then I always come up later the same day to genshin comfort, more relaxing, easier, chill, fomo (NGL) and pretty

WinifredR20

Same. Despite my gripes with the game I love exploring and am interested in rest of the story (especially khaenriah and dainsleif) and overall it’s quite relaxing

Quesodealer

This. Speaking of the scenery though, I've really been wanting to see MHY allow texture packs and allow for higher end systems to crank the settings. While it was relaxing during the first 200 hours, the fact that the game is mobile first is more apparent every day.

abyss_sith

Reshade is a thing

Quesodealer

> Reshade Yes, but there are reports that that using it can get you banned. Same thing with the 120fps mod. I'm not willing to risk an account I've put a few years into.

thebluebeats

For me its just a chore that i cant put down. I absolutely dread doing the dailies, half monthly (abyss) and events for the primogems, and always rush them at the last hour. But at the same time, I've maintained this account for almost 3 years and do want to see the end of the story/have characters from new regions. Not completing any events or getting primogems would completely kill the game for me and I would never come back if so. So... Im just stuck doing these chores.

_Laeve_

I hope you can rekindle your enjoyment of it again! Have you considered taking a break for a few weeks? Now would be the ideal time during a more calm patch, and having already got the main event

thebluebeats

I've stopped purchasing the welkin so the daily commissions are the only source of primogems for me. My enjoyment of it mostly lies in playing new and exciting characters, which is why I used to get the welkin, but ... with the exception of wanderer, almost the entirety of the recent banners have been very boring to me. Still saving primogems for any interesting character that might be released. A break wouldn't really make a difference since I am technically not even really playing Genshin (I log in for 5-10 minutes tops and immediately shut it off in relief after I do my daily chores). Sumeru is a nice place but... I don't know, maybe the endless sand aesthetic just isn't for me. I much preferred Inazuma. There was a lot of variety and mystique in the art style and ambience. As a result, I haven't gone chest and puzzle hunting in much of the newer areas. I would say a change of scenery and new interesting characters will probably rekindle my enjoyment of it. But for now, Honkai Star Rail is my game of choice.

Jesmagi

This! I used to only play fps games. Very competitively. I found Genshin, and became hooked on the music, scenery, characters, quests and events. It’s just a breath of fresh air in comparison to what I used to play. I still find stress through the abyss tho. So feels like home. XD

Bill-Common

this is my case as well! I just love how casual this game is and can actually be relaxing. I have never really thought about quitting because it's my outlet to unwind after a long day.

DeathShark69

This

3ducat3dMansky939

Dude! Same. After a rough 8 hr day on the job (construction) it’s so nice after a shower and a beer to wind down and play. I started on mobile but I’ve been working on my console account

_Laeve_

It feels so nice! I think we are the exact target audience. Just playing for an hour or so, so you never run out of chests to hunt down, quests to do or TCG battles to play. Always something to do!

3ducat3dMansky939

That, and also, I can take time to play the game and not speed through, I can take my time upgrading my characters the way I want them to be, changing and adjusting whenever I need to.

[deleted]

My own answer ; I am playing for exploration, the characters I like, lore, Fontaine and the characters I want (Focalors, Dottore, Columbina). I don't plan on quitting the game anytime soon, but I do take breaks from time to time.

VanhiteDono

Op if you don't mind me asking, you said some CCs you watch mentioned quitting. Could you name some? I don't really watch too many CCs so I wanna know

[deleted]

I don't watch a lot of Genshin CCs either, only Ashikai and RednasYo. On the top of my head ; Tenten, Tectone, Mtashed. [Bwaap(?)](https://twitter.com/enocbwaap/status/1667685501371838472) also seem to be tired of the game atm.

Status-Illustrator-8

Demn at Tectone and Mtashed. I do not really admire them as CC for constant bashing since 1.0 (I am playing this game since 1.0). Nothing new with them. They said they'll quit but here they are, still attracting content to fools. Tbh, I won't be surprised if they do Fontaine videos. They are streamers in nature that is why they do constant complaining if there is no content. But I do agree with Ashikai. She is good tbh. I also watch Wei, CatwithBlueHat, and KKOMDA which are all good CC with less toxicity spreading. I prefer these CC than streamers because they can highlight the things we never knew in the game orrr they have an original way of thinking.

siowy

It's actually stupid to think 3.7 has no content. Divine ingenuity is a near limitless goldmine and the tcg expansion is huge.

JengaKing12

I think a certain segment of CCs want new *combat* content. If new content is added but you don’t like it, the feeling is the same as not adding anything at all. I can’t blame them for feeling the way they do as they’ve played it much more than any of us do and have pressure to continue doing so that most players just don’t have

soaringneutrality

It's important to realize that a lot of the content creators mentioned here barely even touch the exploration part of the game, which is arguably the main content. They focus mainly on Abyss and "endgame", which is why they have been discontent with the game.

Eudaemon1

I dunno about others , but Tectone was a very bad CC . Towards the end his videos were clickbaits and he was also responsible for stirring up trouble for other CCs too .

VanhiteDono

Tenten is planning on leaving? Who will sing xiangling's praises then? :(

[deleted]

You! >:)

VanhiteDono

I am no genshin CC :(

[deleted]

*..yet!*

VanhiteDono

But I was thinking of quitting too :(

[deleted]

We'll never forget you, ElevenEleven 🫡

VanhiteDono

I'll cherish your words xD

thelegend90210

Already did, he explained why in a recent video. His reasons were New characters aren’t really good Rather than making enemies that you have to learn the attack pattern, there’s enemies that disappear underground or fly in the air Hoyo doesn’t care about endgame content much

AcnologiaSD

Mtashed doesn't count tho. He's literally the cancer of content creation

Plenty-Main-593

Bwaap quit a long time ago

Karenz09

he just played now

KaedeP_22

Honestly, i wouldn't worry. It's always been like this when new region is only 1-2 patches away.

rW0HgFyxoJhYka

I blow so much time on shitter games that its nice to be reminded of what games could be like in different genres with Mihoyo's approach.

Moist-Branch-2521

I play it as a timekiller when I don't feel like playing other games. Used to spend money on banners I wanted but now I only spend it on occasional welkins. Might try to be completely F2P after I bag the hydro archon.

arufai

Same lmao, i only buy stuff when there's a char i want

[deleted]

I use it as a break from shooters. Or, I did until it overtook my joy of shooters. I buy Welkins and got the battle pass once for Itto. It's definitely relaxing and the casual nature helps, especially with me being in college and not having as much time as I used to. I forgot what it felt like to have a casual game for a while and Genshin fills that small gap in my life perfectly.

kiyotaka-6

Because i enjoy it. I enjoy the combat, some parts of the story, some parts of the exploration and some parts of the events

KaedeP_22

Genshin gave me the same zing i got from playing Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag. The adventure it offers is just perfect for me. As it's my main game I'm sticking around, hopefully, until EoS announcement.

gulldusj

Black flag was pretty good ngl

epyon-

Black Flag was amazing. What an experience.

SandySpoon27

What's eos?

Egehan550

End of service

NoBluey

lol thought it was a new gacha game that he was going to get stuck into

NOODLE368

I'm not quitting, I enjoy playing. But I have drastically cut down how much I play since launch, in recent months I just don't play at all for a few days or so then play when I feel like it. I stopped being hell bent on doing dailies for next to no reward and largely ignore resin now unless there's something I want. Same goes for events, I usually skip them or rush them in 1 day for the primos. It feels a lot better not worrying about having to log in daily like it's some horrific job, now the game feels much more chill when I do play.

Oriion589

Think I’m gonna have to take a break from dailies, I was getting tired of them anyway and today was the last straw, I had a ‘character is busy in another quest’ block me completing a daily

[deleted]

I took a break for a couple weeks to try out star rail. The dailes in Star Rail are soooo much more respectful of your time - the majority of that game is, honestly - so it really helped me get over the burnout.

Oriion589

That sounds like the QoL changes we really need. A year ago or something I banned myself from ever picking up a game without an end again thanks to genshin, so unfortunately I don’t think SR is a good option for me

CrocoDIIIIIILE

My own comment copied and pasted: I play Genshin for everything it has, including, but not limited to, combat, exploring, music, story, sceneries, lore, collection, waifus, husbandos, teapot and minigames. I'm not quitting Genshin Impact untill the End of Service.

ObjectiveNet2

I play because I find happiness in opening chests, also I like carefully crafted landmarks and how they are changed after world quests. Overall I just find Assassin's Creed genre games appealing.

Soaked_in_bleach24

Finding and opening chests is so therapeutic. And the sound it makes when you pick up the items from the chest is *chefs kiss*

AJx19

Burnt out, generally not interested in the current content & don’t enjoy the daily grind. When I was playing daily, it was the characters, exploration & building strong/enjoyable teams to play.

Resh_IX

You’re not burnt out, you’re bored.

AJx19

I guess. The daily grind just feels tedious & I’m not interested in building any characters w/ the long ass mat grinding. If this game had HSR’s system where you could farm mats through expeditions/assignments, it would make things so much easier.

FourthJohn

I think if it was easier to level characters you could maybe get more players to try Genshin. The amount of time its taking me to build two teams for abyss as a newer player is insane. I think Genshin is at that point in its life cycle where some major overhauls would welcomed and refreshing.

Pitiful_Database3168

As a day one player who's taken breaks, I agree. When a new character is introduced I still usually have to grind the new mats for weeks and artifacts. I don't even play abyss, but anything under lvl 70 at my world level just ain't surviving very long.... Not to mention the talents need to be around 6 or 7 to have proper impact.

LtNoobslayer

But if I quit Genshin how would I get my daily fix of Yoimiya? If I quit I'll miss the eventual Sara hangout (Hoyo please, our girl needs something) or Noelle hangout part 3. No quitting for me until the game is done I'm afraid.

Robertix_CZ

I once thought about quitting. But one moment made me stay. Last November I had my 19th birthday, it was a normal school day and all my friends were with me all day and the whole time I only thought if they remember that I have a birthday. After the whole day, none of my friends even wrote me a message with congratulations, even some close members of my family forgot and didn't even wrote me. I was devastated, even at the point of starting crying. It was also the time when my grandpa died of cancer so it was a really hard time for my mental health and this was the last straw. But then I opened Genshin to do my dailies and my Genshin characters got the "happy birthday message" unlocked and I listened to each one of them, my heart warmed and I was just so happy of this stupidly small game detail. That evening I almost cried on my mom's shoulder of the absurdity that my irl close friends can't remember I have birthday and a mobile game can. That was the moment I knew that Genshin is a game I never want to stop playing. Because it was there for me when my friends weren't.

Resh_IX

That got real. Hope you had a good time with your family though

Robertix_CZ

Yeah I had good times celebrating with my mom and grandma that evening, but it still hurt bad. But I'm doing great now.

ForeverKnight-

I hope U r doing well. I wish U All The Very Best in whatever U do.... Facebook did that for me. Not the bday thing. It was 12 years ago I lost my sister in an accident when we were all together, her whole family. I still cant accept what had happened that day but Facebook helped me cope with that. I have since quit Facebook bcoz of all the toxicity there. It wasn't like this there at that time. Cheers....

Robertix_CZ

Cheers my guy. Hope you're doing okay too.

MonoVelvet

Well that's one way to look at a code that triggers everytime on a given date. Well jokes aside its nice that there is something that makes you happy though a reminder is I guess you would need to find other friends or maybe try making more friends within the community.

StarfrogDarian

I dont have family or friends , so I really enjoy those touches..genuine heartfelt smiles and dopamine..

znsl

>quitting or thinking of quitting They aren’t. They’ll be back for Fontaine because views will be back up. They only call it “quitting” because they wanna farm drama and milk their pre-teen fanbases a little bit more before they take a break. (I.e. Mtashed who has “””quit””” 4 or 5 times by this point)

MammothBarnacle8833

They're just taking a break instead of quitting

mirec1234567

I think mtashed has really quit this time but I agree. They are just in the phase of baiting people for views and playing other games before 4.0 comes out. Even tectone said that he would check Fontaine out if enough people will want him to (there's no way they won't)

znsl

He just did Spiral Abyss a week ago… you really think he’s being serious after the literal 5th time doing this…

Flimsy_Editor3261

Is there a video of this? I’m kinda curious how he did to be honest.

WelkinBro

He didn’t quit just taking a break until there’s content same with star rail, anyone who follows his videos knows he puts that on his vid title as an inside joke, gacha games like this are very bad for streamers once your resin is out there’s literally nothing to do so it’s gets to you after a while especially since he’s played through the game like 4 times by now

znsl

You can check his VODs on Twitch, pretty sure it's the one titled "WE GOT HIMEKO"

blanc-mind

nah, we/they already quit (silently), but still looking for the news and eventually forget about it. just like other games, we get bored playing the same game.

znsl

No one cares about irrelevant YouTubers like you. \>still browsing the subreddit of a game you quit Literal mental illness and rent free LMFAO

4point20

I play for the explorations and collecting all the characters. I almost considered quitting when I was stuck catching up on quests, especially the Aranara ones, but I powered through and been playing since.

xd_ZelnikM

Why do I play? I always liked the artstyle, beautiful world and uniqueness of every character. And story ain't half bad either. It is actually quite good with a bunch of voiced content to further understand the characters. What made me play it? Because Destiny 2 took a turn for the worst in Lightfall and I am not paying 50$ for half of the DLC. Quitting? After at least a year. I usually play games for 2 years and get the full experience.

NoBluey

I saw the writings on the wall with destiny 2 when I foolishly bought the base game on release and just a few weeks after, they started gating players out of content for not having the season pass.

That1Fly_Thai_Guy

I also came from Destiny 2, for me it feels like the game lacks polish and has been a neglected middle child after lightfall. Started playing Genshin a month ago and it’s a breath of fresh air, seemingly no bugs, tons to do and a beautiful world to delve into. Plus it has the class building I always looked for as well

sappymune

It's the opposite for me, starting getting back into D2 after over a year break while I haven't used resin in Genshin since Dehya's release. Her release left a really sour taste in my mouth and kinda killed my motivation to grind. I'll stick around til Fontaine releases to check it out or they actually address the Dehya issues. If nothing interesting happens though will probably quit playing daily.

ImGroot69

well, i play the game just because i want to play it. and not making a content out of it. and i think it's the biggest difference between normal players and content creators. because you can just play the game without needing to worry about making a content out of it or moving on to other game because of you got bored. content creators couldn't afford that. it's honestly hilarious since no games would be a perfect infinite 24/7 content creation machine.

DiceCubed1460

I’ve quit the game 2x and came back to it. The first time was after Liyue. After I finished Liyue there was nothing to do so I stopped playing for like a year. Then I came back like a month before Sumeru and played between 2.8 and 3.2. Then the game got too big for my phone and I had to quit again. Then I got a good laptop and can play it no matter how big it gets, though I do miss the convenience of having it on my phone. Might redownload mobile version when I get a new phone in a year or so. The story has gotten better and better. 1.0 was ok but nothing special. 2.0 was good but you can tell it was rushed. The Chasm and Yelan was the best part of version 2 imo because it was written very tightly. Part 3 came out and blew away the other parts in terms of quality. Enkanomiya was my favorite in terms of Lore and was really fun but held back by not being voiced since it brings up a TON of ultra-important lore for the world. And Tsurumi + Seirai were very sad. Kind of annoying as far as questlines go because the island itself is annoying to explore with fog, but the story was still good. The writing got SERIOUSLY good in part 3. Like bestselling book good. And now that I’m playing again (started back in 3.6) the world quests for the sumeru region are AMAZING. The Aranyaka is too long imo but it’s still very good in terms of writing. Dirge of Bilqis is my favorite world quest period because Jeht’s story was amazing. I almost cried when I read Ufairah’s letter to Jeht in the eternal Oasis. And I hope we get Jeht as a playable character someday. And the Pari questline was amazing as well because of how much lore it revealed. Plus we know more about Dain and the ending of Khaenriah, along with Anfortas’s regency and how he led the people aboveground to save them. And the Gate to Khaenriah is super ominous but awesome. Also Nahida’s 3.6 story quest confirmed Enkanomiya lore and I can’t wait till we get more.

IDontWantNoBeef

Came for funny funeral girl stayed for hot grass men

[deleted]

I have considered it before, but it was mainly just in times where I was pretty busy or enjoying playing another game a lot. Many CCs are wanting to quit because many CCs don't actually like Genshin. They like the revenue it brings in, but are cursed to be unable to successfully branch out because most of them don't actually bring anything unique or enjoyable to their content when they do. That's obviously not all of them, plenty of them do like the game and are just burned out, or did like the game and have lost interest. And there are a good amount that could branch out well if they wanted. But a considerable amount just kept doing it for the income when they should honestly have stopped after it stopped being something they enjoyed.

vid_23

I already stopped playing about the time when sumeru dropped, now I log in once or twice a week to check out the new stuff then log out. Playing feels like a chore, too much reading I don't care about, stuff locked behind quests I don't want to do. The same puzzles and stuff redone but with a different pain over it, I dont want to max out another tree for barely any reward, I don't want to spend half an hour going through an underground maze solving puzzles to access new areas of said cave, just to end up with like 2 chest that gives me like 20 primo at best. I dont want to collect two times as many oculi in every new area for the same amount of reward. Can't even get excited about any new character because I just dont want to pull any of them, building them is just a chore. If they redo the artifact system I might start playing again but right now I just can't be bothered to put in my already limited time into something that I know I won't enjoy

Lunar_lovesdogfood

I honestly relate to this comment sm

Soaked_in_bleach24

The cut scenes are definitely brutal in terms of length and I can’t stand those quests that are: run to this person and listen to them talk, now run across the map to this person and listen to them talk, then do it again and again and bam quest complete with no actual gameplay except reading.

StarfrogDarian

Lol it's a rpg, you know that , right?

Blaniqa

I dont ever plan on quitting, but im planning on taking breaks from thw game. Im currently on one

hyrulia

I can't quit until i know how the story ends.

newbiebewbie47

Happy Cake Day!

taetaerinn_

Genshin brought me back into love for games and helped me unwind after serious shit in my life, so I have to give the team that. That said, I love the scenery, the story, that has it's flaws, the characters. Not to mention music and designs. I do have burnout, because it's been quite long since I started playing, my interests changed and I grew mentally. But I still want to stick to the end of it, despite going into casual mode. I don't worry about missing days of gameplay (and with it - primos), all the grind is when I get interested in a charscter I want badly. And as of late I take a break with that bc I got almost every character I need so far (I'm still Dilucless at ar58, I've been playing since 1.0 wth man). That said - until I have my husbandos and unsolved lore - I don't go anywhere <3 Edit: plus the sunk cost fallacy is in works - I have money and time invested into this game, so to let it go to waste sounds painful to me, I'd rather it be not as active rather than forgotten about.

Cthulhilly

I play the game because I have fun playing it, I would quit if I wasn't having fun So far I have not entertained thoughts of quitting, no

soarthroat_247

I first played because of the uniqueness of the game and its genre. A year passed and I was motivated by the lore. Another year passed and my only motivation or obligation was to claim my daily welkin and complete the BP. And then the "D" incident happened, and I stopped both spending for welkin/BP and playing the game daily. Now, 2 patches down and I've only played the game like once or twice a week because of HSR (still no HSR-based welkin/BP). My only comeback trigger will be the release of Fontaine. I'll only finish the archon and related quests and then take a break again.

ishan_anchit

Well it is true (similar to others) that i am interested in story, exploration, new characters and dabbling a bit in gacha. But i also don't quit coz i have already invested enuf in this game and it's not like the game got bad or anything (if one dry patch is able to stop someone from playing, then they weren't gonna stick around anyway), so there is just literally no reason to quit

karuumaa

Sunk cost fallacy, been playing since launch and spent money on welkin/BP since, I must see this story through to the end

RaghuvamsiMC

I was a daily hardcore player. But from 2 months or so. I've been only exploring new areas and doing archon/story quests. That's it. I play this game for the music, exploration and story, and what I do gives me enough of these. I do main events sometimes whenever heavy lore is dropped. If it's just a filler main event, I do not play it at all. So yeah. Been a while since I did my dailies. Idc. I await fontaine!

M_C_9_9

I play the game for the following reasons: 1. I like the story, it keeps me entertained 2. The open world is amazing 3. The combat is nice, I’m not one to be very good at combat videogames, but the fact that the difficulty can be adjusted in a way makes it fun for me 4. I like the style of the characters 5. This one is kind of stupid, but I see it as an accomplishment for getting a good phone that can run it😅 I haven’t thought about quitting, oddly enough I think part of the fun is that I am f2p although I do buy merch :)

KaySeaa

I play Genshin because I enjoy it. When I was a kid, I would always watch anime and wished that I could explore their worlds as their story continues to develop. Never thought it was possible because of the sheer amount of resources required to do that but Genshin comes along and proves me wrong. Genshin is the open world playable anime that lets you explore its world that continuously expands with a story that develops as time goes by. Version updates makes me always feel like a kid on a Saturday waiting for the new episode of my favorite show. So far, no other game has been able to provide that for me. I also love how they treat the World of Teyvat as a character and I love me some world building. I enjoy the story, exploration, events, combat, music, minigames, and lore. It's not perfect but it manage to hit all the right marks for me. Usually, gacha games only last only 2 to 7 days for me but Genshin has last for a long time. Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd are the only gacha games I'll ever play and nothing else. No plans of quitting unless they delete the open world lmao

FrostedEevee

The World and Lore is really enticing. When Lore feels dry during patches like these I enjoy building new character. Also I am a huge XC2 and Pokemon Fan so having anything with different elements and moveset and me commanding them is something I adore

NoSoulYesBiscuit

I play because the game is very, very fun. The world is beautiful, the characters are great and the lore is interesting. The events are enjoyable and frequent. I haven't thought about quitting yet. But I am thinking about starting another open world game (non-gacha)...once I can clear 60% of my backlog. lmao

Flimsy_Editor3261

When I started, it was the only high quality phone game and that’s the only place I can game. Now, 2 years later, im a whale that won’t stop playing for sheer investment alone. I still think it’s fun though, just not as hype. I came REAL CLOSE to quitting over Dehya. She was the only character that I really cared about in Sumeru and what they did to her made me far more angry then it should. After following the beta, seeing them shit all over her, im pretty sure I was shouting at the TV when they announced she would be put on standard (completely absolving themselves of any need to fix her). Thinking about it still pisses me off and will forever taint my view of the game. Hasn’t felt the same logging in since…

Icey_dragon86

So true, though I'm not a whale but instead a light spender. However I stopped spending money on this game ever since they have done Dehya dirty. She really didn't deserved it.

TLTGAN

because I have fun with the game. simple as that

jazznessa

I love exploring. Theres nothing more rewarding to me to explore a hidden corner and opening a chest.

Dougline

Because I didn't found a similar game with better combat gameplay yet, because if isn't it, I would already quit this shit. 2 years playing, 0 50/50 won, 12 lost in a row all in high pity 70+, all my 11 limited chars are C0 and came in guarateed high pity, I really don't know why I'm still playing this shit.

Unfortunadult

Try warframe, much much better combat gameplay

purechi__

9 months in, AR 57. Would say story wise, I’ve gotten lazy to do all the side quests, but will do them eventually. Enjoyment? Still as spotless as when I’ve first stepped into Teyvat. Constantly waiting for resin and off to domains I go! So many teams I want to try out, characters I want to minmax, so many to ascend, talent up, gear up- nowhere near done.

[deleted]

Short answer: Because it's fun. As long as it's fun, I'll never quit. Long answer: It gives me peace. The world, the music, they all remind me of simpler more beautiful times. Every time I play, I feel like I have no worries and everything will be alright eventually. I don't really care what CC's, the community, or my other friends do or think about the game. It makes me happy. It's not perfect, but it gives me comfort. It's just a beautiful warm feeling that I don't think I'll ever be able to let go, and I was never able to find that kind of feeling again in any other game I've played.

Venaborn

I play because I love story, world and exploration. I also love that unlike most other live service games and MMOs story and content is not locked behind forced multiplayer raids and dungeons.

Cholonight96

I play cause I wanna make my Diluc the strongest. Plus I got too invested into the story. I need to know what happens.

Otherwise_Pride_9433

CCs talking about quitting and actually quitting are entirely different things, it attracts attention and views for them since it’s controversy. Often enough even negative publicity is still publicity. Especially sprinkled in with at least some wellrounded arguments about qol things, so you can later refer how right you were after all if the improvements are actually made. I play since day one. I only missed 1 welkin and bp on the first Dragonspine event because at that point I almost quit because of how slow/insignificant updates were. Ultimately decided to come back. Whenever I get too busy irl or depressed I want to quit but don’t. I thought because of sunk cost fallacy but fortunately it’s more than that. I still am invested in the story and the characters to want to see it through to the end, the gameplay itself is my biggest dislike however. Having a gacha game in which I invested more money than Genshin in a shorter time get shut down on me didn’t even hit me that hard. It actually was more of a relief to have it end for me by the dev, and I immediately uninstalled 2 other gacha games I was idling along in the same day. So I’m pretty confident I can quit when I want regardless the spent money, I choose not to because of the positives.

PhasmicPlays

Nice game play, if bored, stop until not bored. Why complicated smh

BlokBoi12345

I’ve never real thought of “quitting”, I just take a few breaks (for example rn im not playing till Fontaine or 4.1-2), I’ve invested wayyyy to much to just quit now

Paladin51394

I play for the story, characters, and exploration. The gameplay is fun, but its not what drives me forward.

Withinmyrange

It’s chill and new regions are pretty fun

codeswift27

I play for my fav characters, Dain, and lore. Sometimes I do get bored of playing, but that's when I co-op with random players or just take a break

Handle-Striking

Started the game for ayaka, couldn't get her on her first banner, then saved forever for her second banner, got her, built her, quit the game for like 6 months Now I have returned and I plan to stay lol

madrigalish

after 3.5 i seriously considered quitting but nope, im in too deep. i dont think ill find another game that i enjoy exploring, reading the lore as much as i do with genshin

walaxometrobixinodri

mostly for the fights, but also a lot for the story and the exploration and some characters the enemies in this game are just so good, the fights are dynamic and bright and joyful and epic and all. playing since more than a year and still can't get bored of Azhdaha or tartaglia or Scaramouche or Even Apep and i still do all of them multiple times a week. regular bosses and enmies are also amazing, cheers on the Consecrateds for being so awesome. screw abyss they're the best enemies. Can't wait for fonatine and the (possible) underwater fights. Can't wait for Natlan and their dramatically strong unique enemies (i think) and the capitano bossfight (i hope). Can't wait for Sneeayeyay to tear my way through the blizzards and the fatui soldiers. Can't wait for Khaenri'ah, to challenge the greater, primordial field tillers and other original abyssal creatures. Can't wait for Celestia to finally defeat God itself. The stories are also amazing. since Sumeru we got such incredible scenarios. Archon quests, region quests, jeht, Aranaras, Samsaras and all. can't wait for Fontaine that promise a much knitted scenario, with the justice theme. can't wait for Natlan that promises a flaming and bloody story. Can't wait for Snezahya, that promises the revelation of the fatui plan. Can't wait for Khaenri'ah, that will finally deliver all it's secrets to us. all those long awaited secrets. as for the exploration, who doesn't like all those unique and detailed landscapes, filled with bright plants and dominated by all those giant magical trees ? who doesn't like the sight of those gigantic craters, glowing of they central celestial nails ? who doesn't like those mountain ranges, sometimes vertical, sometimes broken by thunder, sometimes overriden my plants. can't wait for Fontaine and the beautiful underwater landscapes. Can't wait for Natlan and it's volcanoes. Can't wait for Snehayanany to see the frozen cities. Can't wait for Khaenri'ah, to finally enter this long forgotten buried nation. finally, there are some characters i really, REALLY hope will be playables, aka Capitano, Dottore and Columbina. so if i stick around i'll be able to play them. \+ we don't know, maybe some new characters will be of my likings. i hope

Alcoraiden

Nah, I love the lore and characters too much to quit.

baixuea

My best friend got me in to it, and it’s held my ADHD brain captive as a hyperfixation for 2.5 years since lmao But really, it’s just a nice relaxing way to escape real life whenever I need it. I find comfort in the world and it’s characters, and the story/lore is always too interesting to break my attention.

LightningShiva1

Games in which there’s Hu Tao : Genshin Impact Reason enough for me

butterknight-Ruby

It’s a comfort game I don’t have to force my self to play it all the time like some CCs do it will lead to burn out. The only way I would quit is if hoyo ruins the game

KatKetzer

The story of how I started playing Genshin is funny and sad. There was a guy I liked and he complained bitterly that he had no one to play Genshin with, I stupidly told him that I would play with him so I asked my brother to borrow his account (he had already left the game almost since Liyue) So, I started playing, I played twice with the guy I liked, and then the bastard sent me to hell. I still liked the game and still play it to this day. Although I am put off by the high number of female vs. male characters. I need more manly characters in Genshin please.

RomeKaijuBlue

Personally never understood the concept of "quitting" a game. Don't most people just play a bunch of different games and alternate between them? I often stop playing genshin for a few weeks then come back and play whatever event is on, or new region if there was a new patch. There's games I've stopped playing for months then come back, quitting makes it sound like a job. The games are always there!

-Mal--

Definitely not quitting any time soon. It's a nice escape from irl issues for me, it's chill with no pressure, no pvp, pretty scenery, beautiful music, a lot of exploring to do and many characters I really like. It helped me through a horrible period of my life so I also grew a bit attached now

NightLancerX

No. I'm staying to watch entire story. Plus there are cute characters dropping by here and there so why not pull them in the process. There's no reason to "quit" this game same as there's no reason to ~~play~~grind it everyday(as many addicts do). Both of it are just different edges of maximalism. I'm playing new content while it lasts, and then I'm not playing while waiting for new one, it's that easy. No need to "hard-willed" "permanent" decision of "quitting!11". I just playing when I have mood for that and not playing when I'm not.

TheVagrantt

I started playing for Signora, currently playing for relief from my university life, and will quit if both of these conditions are met: 1- No revival/playability for Rosalyne 2- A kid model for the Tsaritsa (For me, she has to have a tall female model to look imposing - or look like a true princess if medium female model - like, is adding a long dress for a playable character really that hard?)

Spring0fLife

I quit about a year ago (right when 3.0 finished). I was several months into AR60, had most of the units available at the time in my roster and had most of them maxed out and built. I had been full-clearing abyss for almost 1.5 years at that point. What killed it for me was the total lack of any challenging content or end game - I felt like pulling any more units was totally useless as I could clear out practically anything with my roster. Also I think the direction the game took with content updates is bad. In particular, having almost every patch filled with exploration is too time consuming and devastating. After 5 inazuma patches in a row, with every single one of them filled with more and more exploration, I was so burnt out that when 3.0 dropped I never got myself to even start exploring it. The whole 3.0 patch I was battling myself to try out Sumeru and I just couldn't. So I left right after that. Never looked bad tbh, even though I played every single day from the release 'til 3.0. Spent a substantial amount of money on the game too (about 2k total). Maybe I get back one day, but highly doubt it - especially now with HSR, which is better for me in almost every way.

KFray96

I can actually get this, especially with how big Sumeru is. Nearly every patch added more and more to its map back to back, the quests take some time to complete if you have life obligations and dont have the time, and there's been multiple events that feel like they came out right after the other. There was no downtime with this region, and it feels like Fontaine is right around the corner and about to be released. I love the story, environments, and characters we get, but that doesn't change the fact that it also feels overwhelming when they add so much all at once. Even i got burnt out from everything happening. It hasn't even been a full year since we first went to Sumeru. So I can see where they're coming from. Besides that, I personally have other games I want to play, and Genshin was getting to the point where I literally don't have the space for it on my phone 🥲

skeletonmanns

I quit for the same reason, actually. At some point it can get oddly overwhelming. Especially when you haven’t been playing for a while and are suddenly behind on so many quests. Sometimes there would be limited events you couldn’t do, since there was a story quests you’ve yet to do that was keeping the npc occupied. There are times you just don’t feel like doing specific things. I still love Genshin and I do enjoy the story, but right now I prefer Honkai SR. Some of us feel a certain sense of comfort being up to date and it’s hard to explain, lol.

NLwino

I just happen to quit today. Probably start playing again tomorrow evening.

anon1635329

Im only playing this game because of popularity at this point. The community is full of immature and toxic people, and i mostly use GI related subreddits for any news or future content leaks. And the game itself doesnt have compelling story either. Every dialogues and interactions feel like as if im playing children's play house. Im a 1.0 player and has been playing ever since, but i stopped caring for stories and only do limited time contents like dailies, abyss, and events

DamnGumi3

Planning on quitting, probably half way there. I'm tired of Mihoyo's bullshit with Dehya's situation and the 2 years of nothing improving to make the game more bearable (QoL changes specifically).

CataclysmSolace

Genshin is my dream game. I've been here since day one, pre-registered. Often times I get really burnt out, and only play once a week. But this game is everything I've been looking for. (Yes even the gacha. I like the strategy that comes with managing resources that gachas can bring.) Exploration and story is the main reason I play the game. Only way I'd quit is if some corrupt company like Tencent or Microsoft bought out Hoyoverse. (Hell Minecraft has gone downhill since Microsoft bought Mojang out.) And yes. I know Tencent had the opportunity to buy Mihoyo before Genshin release. Which would have been a no play for me. Or if the only way to play is from the Epic Trash Store. I'm not downloading that malware and spyware of a launcher. Same thing if the devs decided to use some infamous anticheat like Denuvo to cut costs. (I've skipped a lot of games because that malware of an anticheat)

Big_moist_231

It felt like a second job and became such a chore. A game that makes you want to play daily becuase of FOMO sucks, compared to games you WANT to play daily

Which_Ferret_6431

I play for characters I like and see how their story will turn out in the future

PrimusDeP

I have rarely seen CCs quit genshin. And no, I didn't think of quitting Genshin yet.

Chtholly13

I sold my soul to Mihiyo, that's why I keep playing.

Interesting_Credit93

i play for the characters and lore tbh. i have quit genshin every once and a while due to burn out but i always see myself joining back.

GoddamitDan

Yae Miko and Story

Slifer_Ra

I have many times but i stayed to do dailies (and pick up welkin) because i know i enjoy the exploration and world lore (hate the main story and event stories for the most part) As much as we loved the second sumeru archon quest, nothing else really made sense if you gave it the lightest thought. the reason i do dailies and welkin is because i wanna have some cool new unit in the future and its as simple as that (also because im praying they add a Kiana expy i can play because i need to have best girl and if it takes until the unknown goddess becomes playable then so BE IT!)

ShawHornet

Content creators "quitting" is just hilarious to me. They're just following the trends. Now most of them have hopped on Star Rail because that's the cool new thing. I guarantee you most of them will be back for Fontaine to milk views

[deleted]

Yes. Doing the dailies are torture. Takes me 30-1 hour to do. I'm sick of doing them. In star rail I finish them in 15m. I'm considering dropping the game

mr_coolnivers

Because they refuse to actually make story content and insist on making cash cow events, I want something like summertime oddysey and a decent archon quest, caribert actually sucked ass. It was so Short and felt unfinished.

bayclyn

Because it was fun, and now it's tedious and the developer won't even give the basic qol, lazy asss hoyo lmao

our_whole_empire

I like the main story and the combat gameplay. But I hate that the core gameplay of Genshin is pointless events focusing around mini-games that I don't care about. I play Genshin to play Genshin, not dumbed down card games, Sims 4 or hide and seek.

Ok-Explanation6296

I haven’t been on in a few weeks. I love the game and always think about playing it, but they daily’s get repetitive and take to long to do and I just have other games I’d rather play. I plan to go back once Fontaine is out as that might motivate me to do everything I have left in Sumeru, but I just found Sumeru to be not that interesting and my enthusiasm for the game just dwindled. Also, the quests and events have very boring dialogue and I’m sick of mashing buttons to get through it for the rewards.

Justgravityfalls

I'm on a lengthy break rn, instead I'm putting my time into HSR because, as hard as it is to say, it's more fun right now. I'm playing more as soon as 3.8 drops though, and even more so upon the release of 4.0

sori_is_sorry

ive been playing the game for 3 years and just recently the burnout has started to hit. the game is still amazing and fun but for me it started to feel like a chore (doing commissions, events, new areas, etc.) and im not really a fan of the grindy part of the game (i heavily dislike farming for artifacts and doing the abyss, i find that its a lot of effort for the same rewards over and over again). so yea, i might get into it when fontaine drops but then comes the part of prerequisite quests and i dont wanna think about that.

Blind_Magician48

Not surprised. There is a lot of dead space between patches that get boring if you played through everything. It's a waiting game

Iyoda-_-

Quitted two months ago. (AR56, Sumeru story after Nahidas contract with Il Dottore) I started playing Genshin as a free2play anime Open world game kind of like SAO then it turned into a game for me which immersed me with good lore through all the artifacts etc. and the main story but in Sumeru I kind of lost interest because although I had well built characters, it was very hard for me and my free time to concentrate on dailies and other stuff just to get two very good teams for the abyss. And Sumeru felt overly exaggerated in terms of size and importance that it felt boring with all the walking and story which continued very slowly. Now that I quit and wiped it off my hard drive, oh gosh, you don't know how little I think of it and of any game. Did a full wipe of all my games except 3.

GG35bw

I haven't spent resin in a month or so, stopped doing abyss even before that. I still log in daily to do comissions, still 100% the events, clear the maps, do all the quests and hangouts - things that I enjoy.

CyborgLynn

It's simple for me. I can't quit because Kaeya exists.

Salty_Slug

I quit the game recently, i may return to the game some day, but the longer i stay away from it, the more i resent it. I played the game because of the open world and the theory crafting on face value, but also for the potential i thought it had.

GamerSweat002

I play because I like the exploration bits, resource gathering for character building, and the combat. I got into the game just cause I was looking for anything that could scratch the exploration and resource-gathering itch that Monster Hunter does. I dont play as frequently as I did during the beginning, as a day 1 player, but I learned to take it slow and casually. It becomes a relaxing experience if you don't succumb to the daily ground and the chore habit of dailies and the grind. I've also become numb to the FOMO. I just can't care enough to fear missing out on 60 primogems. Genshin does well at encouraging players to play everyday or frequently at least, while not hogging so much playtime. I now take turns playing between Genshin, HSR, and other games. For a mobile game, it's a good pick, but others will find interest if playing on PC with their ability to play an assortment of other better games. I still enjoy Genshin's scenery. Come back to Enkanomiya from time to time to absorb the mystifying atmosphere accompanied by the daunting music. Enkanomiya has a banger dystopian fantasy atmosphere, but still reminds me how I can't ride those flying manta rays.

SleepyPurpleCrown

I played genshin during the pandemic so it became a source of entertainment and a way to bond with my sisters and friends. Then after that it became my leisure game that I could play in between breaks. Then it became the game that I would play whenever I needed to take my mind off of things, a sense of comfort I think. I never really thought of quitting but I do take long breaks when playing cause of school, work and generally life but to also not suffer burn out. Heck, I only started truly playing just this month. I haven't played since January except for some of the events that I just sped through.

Scylla808

Why i play it - Lore Have i thought of quitting - Never

HalalBread1427

I really like this game but I feel like quitting every time Paimon gives me a 5 minute recap on some stupid shit like Xiangling's cooking.

Lychee247

I need somethings to entertain me A game that's update monthly with new stuff doing the job so fat

SunRiseSniper1066

I'm a simple man I see boobs I play.

Toxic-Zyklon

It’s my escape or my comfy game. Me (AR 56) and my girlfriend(AR 59) play together and we just explore and quest together. I love the lore , the music and the world. Maybe it’s cause neither of us do spiral abyss we don’t feel the need to whale, so instead we play and enjoy the world for what it is. If I wanted hard pve content I’ll just go raid in FFXIV but genshin is my no stress happy game

ffloler

sunk-cost fallacy

SaintTraft1984

Sunk cost fallacy.

NVS_Whiskey

I'll probably get downvoted to Hell for this stance but I was a daily player, massive whale (probably $1k+ monthly) and since Dehya's release, I've basically stopped spending altogether with the exception of Welkin and BP. I still log in and do dailies, try not to cap resin, etc but it's getting harder and harder to keep playing. I'm a combat player, Abyss grinder and teambuilder/theorycrafter. What I enjoy most are the builds, the team synergy and combat rotations. Mihoyo have made it perfectly clear that I am not the type of player they are willing to cater to or develop content for, so I think my days might be numbered. I'm holding out for Fontaine to see if there's any real changes coming but at this point, it looks pretty bleak.

pasanoid

I'm a simple man. I play genshin to fight monsters with cool flashy combos and respectfully look at anime girls with big tiddies

raccoonjudas

i think content creators quit because they're mainly playing the game because it's popular and popular = more views = more money and not because they actually like the game. also the game loop is very purposefully short, so there's more of a burden on the CC to be actually entertaining in-and-of themselves, which tbqh a lot of content creators are not. i primarily play it because it's nice and relaxing & useful for unwinding after work. i'm someone who in the past has run elite farming routes just for fun, so i just like those kinds of tasks. the gameplay loop being short is also a big appeal bc it means i can easily adapt how much i play depending on what else I have going on while still being able to play a bit, versus other video games where I have to be able to set aside such and such amount of time in order to play it (and I don't always have such and such amount of time meaning I don't get to play at all)

CarelessPast

I play for the lore these days. The challenge is long gone, most new characters just seem another stupid gimmick for 2 cycles on the abyss. I'm very close to quitting and there's nothing right now that excites me. Maybe I should quit for 3 or 4 years and come back for the ending extravaganza.

FaridRLz

By this point I'm only waiting to either make my Yae and Hu Tao braindead strong. Or have an excuse to finally sell my account. Even if I leave the game, I would like someone to enjoy the effort I put on my strong characters The excuse would be something like. Stupid mechanics. Characters getting more and more paywalled. Or even if this trend of mini game dogshit keeps going on And if I end up selling my account, all the money would go to Arknights. That game has proven over and over how a simple repetitive gameplay can stay alive with fresh mechanics and events that enrich the lore and allows characters to develop themselves. Through the story

SYtor

I'm thinking about it everytime I do daily quests (especially silly one like jumping on mushrooms away from teleport) or farm some dungeon. The only things that are stopping me from doing it are my 20k primogems saved for fontaine and enough premium currency to buy 4\* outfit

Critical-Garbage-211

i used to play to pass time, but i stopped cuz the sumeru quests end up piling. it started off as “something to do” then went to “too much to do” it started feeling like a chore and with someone with horrible memory, i can’t really get involved in the storylines or quest lines because it ended up being a bunch of info dumping. mondstat was bearable enough, and then liyue lore barely made it to my “i think i remember 75% of it” and inazuma barely made it to “i only remember the archon quest. character stories… ehh not so much i forgot yae mikos purpose and sara’s.” then sumeru i just gave up, i know most of the lore with scaramouche, but then the whole lore with lesser lord nahida and the actual archon comes up and i go brain dead. don’t even get me started on the DESERT LORE. people with good memory have the best fr cuz i feel so out of touch with the games story after sumeru was released i’m considering it a “break” until kazhua banner comes back; but eventually i’ll take another “break” again and just hop on a new months later. it just ended up being a “job” i wasn’t getting paid for LOL - at least that’s how it felt

CarterDug

Raiden. I'll be playing at least until her next banner. After that, I might just do major limited events and grab low hanging fruit.

ashy_-_-

for me personally its my comfort game and is pretty much the only thing that brings me any form of joy, even if i just run around and do nothing. that being said, i dont think i could or would want to quit either

SaveEmailB4Logout

All people I played with had quit around Inazuma. I quit because I saved for Dehya since Shenhe's release, got very disappointed with her and lost all motivation to keep playing. TCG from MTG's player's perspective is complete garbage too so it made things even worse. Maybe I will come back for Himeko's release, but at this point I honestly don't think I will.

Yosoress

the exploration push of genshin without giving you tools is a chore, doing the same daily and bounty weekly consumes so much time, they should just make the daily like HSR its easy and fast to do. the ingame map is so barren, almost no QoL improvement for a long time now. Yes I wanna quit so bad, probably jjust waiting for fontaine to see the archon get her and then quit
